PoliticsRe: Should Power Return To The North In 2015? by ektbear: 6:34pm On Nov 04, 2011
Bliss4Lyfe:
My thought exactly. I really don't know why OAM4J and Co subscribe to this Northern born to rule nonsense.
I don't think he wants it. But I think he views it as the most likely outcome.

I don't think the southwest would be in this position of marginalisation if the southeast were in power. They need to see the potential friendship in the east and foster that.
I don't mind making friendships/alliances, but personally I don't see how the SW is being marginalized.

If we must go north on southwest wish, so be it but wen we get their, don't cry and point to the Igbo's like u are doin now. We have nothing to lose. We already lost it all.
Who in the SW actually wants the north to rule again? Yar'Adua happened recently. Dude was absolutely terrible. No sane person would want another northerner in power again. . .

djustice:
Omo Ekiti, so igba e!! Tan so fun e pe gambari ni mi? Emi ma kan s'efe n'temi ma ni, nigbati gambari ni ohun kii se gambari mo nko, kini k'emi wa so nahuh

I am a thoroughbred Lagosian, on all sides of the parental and grandparental divide. What I said about Kabiyesi, I said with the authority of an insider in the palace, and several other palaces throughout Lagos. On the Fulanis (let's call a spade a spade) never ruling Nigeria directly or indirectly again (Gowon), I have to agree on that. Those guys are the anti-midas, man! When they touch gold, it turns into sawdust!
Lol. I really struggled with the first line, only could make out bits and pieces.

Anyway, at least we can agree that nothing good can come of the north ruling the country again.
PoliticsRe: The 3 Worst Performing Governors In Nigeria? by ektbear: 6:03pm On Nov 04, 2011
Osun State is at <55% recurrent. Too high, but I suspect lower than what he met when he came in.

There is no way on earth he can be amongst the top 3 worst governors in Nigeria. I am sure that if I look well I can find at least 3 states with worse fiscal management than that.
PoliticsRe: Should Power Return To The North In 2015? by ektbear: 5:38pm On Nov 04, 2011
And here I was taking what djustice said seriously. Now I find out dude isn't even from the SW, talk less of being a Lagosian. I shoulda known something was screwy when he starting talk sh1t about the Oba of Lagos.

Smh.

Anyway, ideally before 2015 Nigeria is broken up. I don't really want a northerner ruling this country and dragging it back into the stone age.

Everything they touch becomes ruined.

Gbaja I know how to pronounce. This "biamila", I've not the slightest clue

PoliticsRe: Nuclear-powered Electricity A Major Priority In GEJ’s Administration by ektbear: 2:51am On Nov 04, 2011
country with #7 NG reserves on earth has no business bothering with nuclear.

At times I wonder why God decided to even give any of these resources to Nigeria.

A land swimming in natural gas, but instead looking for nuclear power.

Next I will hear of someone starving to death after being trapped in a grocery store
BusinessRe: Lagos Plans Establishment Of Five New Independent Power Plants by ektbear: 2:49am On Nov 04, 2011
Even Tinubu's attempt to bring 270MW directly for Lagos was foiled by the PDP FG. So what business do any of these PDP sychophants like djustice have talking about how they'd deliver if they were in power?

Not only did the bungle their own attempts, but they blocked the attempt of someone else (Tinubu).

HealthRe: 'Majority Of 15,000 Doctors Trained By UCH Work Abroad' by ektbear: 1:47am On Nov 04, 2011
Part of the reason I'm not a huge fan of the way Nigeria approaches education subsidies. All this talent that you are subsidizing, won't they just leave anyway for greener pastures if you don't put in place good measures to make them pay you back what you spent?

Sink so much money into training a doctor, and then he leaves and becomes an asset for yankee rather than you who trained him

^-- You could always pay someone else to dispose of it for you, I suppose. The Americans store their waste in Yucca mountain. . . I guess France and Russia have some equivalent of this.

But with that said, this is a bad idea

In any case, good luck winning this journey race w/o even starting.

The journey of 1000 miles begins with one step.

And those who have chosen not to take this first step at all have very little chance of completing the journey. . .

One can hardly call LASG 10megawatt nonsense a power plant!!, its just a big generator. Im interested in knowin ow they intend to increase it to 114MW??
From what I've seen, all a power plant is is a big generator. But by the time you are up to 10MW and using natural gas as the fuel source, you'll be competitive cost-wise ($/kWh).
BusinessRe: Lagos Plans Establishment Of Five New Independent Power Plants by ektbear: 12:31am On Nov 04, 2011
Eko Ile, there is no point in discussing with PDP boot-licking sycophants like @djustice.

Even Fashola bringing electricity to Lagos, he seems to have a problem with.

He doesn't actually mean well for Lagos State, at all.

Seriously, just ignore the dude. Pretty much everyone else is, abi?

EducationRe: Nigerian Students In Ghana Pay N155 Billion As Tuition Annually by ektbear: 9:58pm On Nov 03, 2011
Hmm, that Kwame Nkrumah UST seems to be popping up again and again.

One of my friends out here went there for college. Somehow did internships in the US and got hired straight out of college to work for a US tech firm I won't mention.

Granted, he is not typical. . . he was probably well above average at KNUST. But I don't think those type of job opportunities exist for even Ife, Ibadan or Unilag grads.

We (Nigeria) have got to step up our game, and stop trying foolish socialist ideas that don't work.
BusinessRe: Fitch Revises Lagos State's Outlook To Stable by ektbear(op): 9:51pm On Nov 03, 2011
Nope, I think they mean $3k per capita, estimated 18 mil pop. I.e., 54 billion dollar economy. This is roughly in line with Economist estimates, who estimated a $42+ billion economy.
PoliticsRe: PDP Asks Aregbesola To Account For N100bn by ektbear: 10:34am On Nov 03, 2011
Err.

I agree that they need to increase IGR.

But $400+ million a year in free cash isn't beans.

Let's not look the gift horse in the mouth, as they say.

Be grateful for what you get for free, even if it isn't enough to satisfy all your goals. And spend the money you get wisely.
