That is not true. From Sanusi's own mouth, islamic banking won't provide loans for casinos, pork, and other things banned in islam. However, non-interest banking doesn't have this restriction. This just an example of the difference. Overall point is one banking system is based on religious law (islamic law), the other purely secular. |
^-- +1. I am not sure why some are trying to equate non-interest banking and islamic banking. |
Gbenge 77:Will we be blaming OGD in 2017 too? |
oyb:lmao ![]() |
Will we ever hear good news coming from east africa? ![]() Not trying to pick on 'em, but if it isn't drought, it is famine. If not famine, then civil war or collapsed government. if not civil war, then pirates. We black people need to get our act together. . . |
Unfortunate. But knowing the way the Nigerian military sloppily does its job, not surprising. |
hehe its all good. I've been embarrassed a few times for using words wrongly Now I'm more careful. |
I don't understand why Amosun's solution to everything is to demolish. Make Bi-Courtney pay whatever the market rate is for the land. If OGD gave them a discount, make them pay full price. Shouldn't that be enough? |
Toaskarity, cold is correct. You used "plight" as a noun: Toaskarity:not in this verb form. And it wouldn't even make sense even if you wanted to use the verb. |
ezeagu:I see. Thanks |
OT: How did he get the name Rotimi? |
Best solution is just to partition the country. Then they can implement Sharia law, Islamic banking, even make their constitution the Koran if they like. |
Dis Guy:Agreed. But these niche banks are well. . . niche banks. They don't get a significant amount of business, so are arguably not that important to the banking sector. If Standard Bank has a window for islamic banking, How does that disturb my business with them?In theory I wouldn't care, but we don't live in theory. We live in Nigeria Sanusi has some sort of agenda behind this. Or at least so I believe.so if a bank decide its only lending money for agricultural related business is that discriminatory? So fine, agricultural bank that specializes in loans for agric products. So Islamic bank that only gives loans for Islam-approved purposes. You think these two things are equivalent? I'm not making any assumptions, just trying to get a sense of how you think. |
Horus:Too expensive, basically. |
Eh Yoruba folk, buy guns and learn how to use them. Hehe. Watching everybody else arming up and doing nothing is a bit silly. Nigeria is on the continent of Africa, not the Hamptons or Malibu, or something. Be prepared |

odumchi:Hehe. Fair enough, to each his own ![]() |

Well, there needs to be some sort of other organization that can deal with this type of stuff. Maybe one that will deal with smaller issues like this. Ijaw are too small a tribe to be pushing anyone around. And there are enough "hostages" (so to speak) in the SW that they should never have the temerity to do this. So you can punish them in an extremely low-cost, low-risk way, if you organize properly. It is very annoying. Nigeria (and Africa more generally) is a land where you'll sometimes need to kill to get your point across. We need to recognize this. |
Dis Guy:Err? If I need a mortgage loan, car loan, education loan, business loan, etc, etc, I'll go one single banking organization for that (in my case, BoA.) Loan is loan, there is no real reason to go to different sources for it. At least where I live, banks are one-stop-shots for credit. how much does the pork/p0rn market contributes to the national gdp that it cannot get its loan from 24 other banks in the countryIts contribution to GDP is irrelevant. The point is, he is pushing a bank that has some sort of "moral" code that differs from that of the constitutution. Why can't I make a bank that won't loan money to Igbos, for example? is Wema bank discriminating against the igbo by restricting its branches to the SW?No Igbos live in the SW zone? Is this your claim? Anyway, there is nothing discriminatory about being a regional bank. Unless you think a pure waster business/bakery that only operates in a single town is also discriminatory ![]() |
naijaking1:I agree with this. Zones should decide for themselves how many states they want. . . the money the zone gets should be independent of the # of states. |
