Why was that the "key" that started the war? Didn't Col Ojukwu know his people were being killed until Gowon decided to lessen his powers? And if any of the Igbos reading this was NOT Igbo, would he not wonder at the timing coincidence?

3. When food was offered and effectively rejected because your general insisted on being paid by such as the Red-Cross, which was more important to him? Cash to buy weapons to kill more people OR the lives of the youbg children his decisions sent to an early painful undeserved death?

4. Igbos are mostly Christians - what did Jesus say about counting costs before starting to build a house?

I feel very sad about the death of millions who were mostly innocents but this debate is asinine in trying to pin ALL the blame on your perceived enemies! Truth is your planning was shoddy, the motives suspect and selfish, the propaganda hurtful to your own people and the timing totally wrong!

What we should be doing now is trying to align so we can build a proper future not this rubbish!

Prof Corruption: Soyinka said there was genocide before the war. Let's assumed it's true (it's an exaggeration to start with)

1. The question is simple.Who committed the genocide? Awolowo who was in prison could not have committed genocide right in prison. Soyinka has added nothing new to this debate. What Soyinka called genocide was the pogrom that followed Igbo coup of 1966. The North reacted by dealing with some Igbo up there. Nothing more.

2. Can Soyinka comment on the civil war proper with unassailable authoritativeness? Not likely. He was imprisoned for the better part of the war. His views, if any, would be based on discussions(slanted or otherwise) with actors or inferences drawn largely from reading on the war.

3.Can Achebe write with unassailable authoritativeness? Not likely. He was part of the propaganda machinery of the defeated Biafra and no matter what, his predetermined prejudices would color his views. You can not pretend to be writing an objective narratives of a war you were the chief propagandist for one side.

The only materials, narratives that can be taken on face value are those of independent writers which have overwhelmingly castigated Ojukwu for the calamity visited on Igbo during the war.

I was going to ask that you then also ban Muslims from making threads on other religions, etc, since anything other than that would be unfair.

But then I realized that while the status quo is unfair, it is just the unfortunate reality we have to deal with.

Islam is a ... religion, full of ... people like Maclatunji and worse. Heck, the Maclatunjis of the world are probably moderate.

If you don't censor people from talking about Islam, then indeed your safety is at risk.

On the other hand, no such censorship is necessary for people talking about Christianity, Hindusim, Judaism, Buddhism, etc, since the vast majority of the adherents of those religion are sane. Not potential terrorists.

So, I'm pretty pissed, but I understand your position.
