Kagawa10, this table shows you chances and clear cut chances as of December 2012, for 2012/2013 season. It is also drilled down to individual players.

Kagawa10, www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10630962/zlatan-ibrahimovic8217s-misses-are-adding-up-for-manchester-united Read the above skysports article. May be you think I manufacture these figures. RECEIVE SENSE |
Kagawa10:You sound like an illiterate. OPTA separates all shots. Opta uses its technology to determine thousands of items on the field of play. It sees far more than the naked eyes. Opta knows how many shots taken by every player. It is records if it is a header or foot, etc. It records if the striker was unmarked, how much distance the next defender is to the striker taking the shot. What side the nearest defender was marking from, whether behind, levelled, in front. If there was a contact, how heavy was the contact from the market? etc. By how much distance the shot missed the goal, the angle on the box it was taken. When you argue or doubt whether a defender had a contact with striker for a penalty, Opta knows it instantly without a replay. Opta knows instantly if original shot was on target before it was deflected for an own goal. It is aware how much distance a striker travel with the ball before a shot was taken. So to answer your question, Opta records clear cut chances (that is tap in missed, close rage clear header missed, one vs one missed). When Rashford missed against West Ham, Opta recorded it. Hope you don't mistake whoscored for Opta? Whoscored uses some live Opta data to update it's own live figures for rating. If you want to see Opta data, you subscribe them, but they might give you restricted access based on your lean pocket and individual status. The FA, skynews, Dailymail, Sun, the football clubs who can afford it are given full access. This is why you get skynews, BBC, Sun, etc publish these clear cut chances from time to time. YOU NO KNOW BALL |
chrisley024:Bailly, Jones, Smalling. And we still need a CB? These guys will be the best in the world in two to three years from now. Our midfield is horrible at marking and recovering the ball. |
Kagawa10:Unbelievable!!! You just really typed that? Opta has stats of total shots taken by every player outside of the box. Then inside of the box and inside the 6 yard box. For instance Ibrahimovic shots in the EPL Outside the box 20 Inside the box 34 Inside the six yard area area 9 I have given you the definition of clear cut chance from opta website. You still managed to bring your mamaput analysis into it. Na wa for you.
|
Kagawa10:My guy, forget all these your mamaput analysis. There are standards for measuring clear cut chances as defined by OPTA and EPL official index. They are published by opta, EAsports, and redistributed by skysports, etc. See below the skysports clear cut chances missed as at Oct 30th after the Chelsea and Burnley games.

Kagawa10:You wey no know ball na why tell me about clear cut chance? The very good EPL teams create about 1.7 clear cut chances per game. The middle table teams create 1 per game while the bottom team create less than 1 per game. So a striker of the top team might just get one clear cut chance in a game. According to your logic, if your striker is allowed to miss one clear cut chance per game, it means he sqaundered all the clear cut chances that come his way in the season. ...... OPTA: Clear Cut Chances Clear Cut chances are one of those underrated stats in football. The definition of a clear cut chance is ‘ A situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score usually in a one-on-one scenario or from very close range. ’ (EPL Index) So in other words, a clear cut chance is a chance where the attacker is odds on to score, it can range from a one on one finish, a unmarked headed chance or a tap in chance. |
Look at the clear cut chances missed as at Oct 20th. Ibrahimovic leads. I can't even find Costa and Aguero on the list. This doesn’t even include his miss vs Chelsea that should have put the game at 1-1. His horrible miss vs Burnley.
|
Kagawa10:You don't write like one who knew what the clear cut chance is. Strikers hardly get one pay game. |
20 seconds clip Ibrahimovic horrible miss vs Burnley. It ended 0-0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAPmNu0QeW8&itct=CBQQpDAYAiITCJGAz4-rztACFUYafwodQKgEflIkSWJyYWhpbW92aWMgaG9ycmlibGUgbWlzcyB2cyBCdXJubGV5&gl=NG&hl=en&client=mv-google |
Watch the first half vs Watford He should have hit target but he missed. Then on another occasion his pace let him down. Watch the first 3 mins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RIaM5_6jwg&itct=CBYQpDAYACITCPP1yt-oztACFQoYfwodPLMHyVIWSWJyYWhpbW92aWMgdnMgV2F0Zm9yZA%3D%3D&gl=NG&client=mv-google&hl=en |
Kagawa10 Watch the clip between 2.40 to 2.59 you will see miss two great chances in quick succession. The second was particularly painful because the keeper was displaced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE7e47EhzZA&itct=CBYQpDAYACITCP7HjYWmztACFawLfwod3CAMElIjSWJyYWhpbW92aWMgbWlzcyB2cyBNYW5jaGVzdGVyIENpdHk%3D&client=mv-google&gl=NG&hl=en |
Kagawa10:Ibrahimovic miss vs Liverpool. Check it out only 13 sec clip. I will look for others. Opta doesn't lie on big chances/clear cut chances. It has to be one vs one, a clear header when unmarked and one should have reasonable score from the situation, a tap in, etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQssGLpBieE&itct=CBIQpDAYBCITCOHgsuGkztACFRKSVQodApQNplIdSWJyYWhpbW92aWMgbWlzcyB2cyBMaXZlcnBvb2w%3D&gl=NG&hl=en&client=mv-google |
Kagawa10:Ibrahimovic has had the easiest chances in the EPL so far. I lost count of one vs one he missed and the clear cut chances missed. Against City he missed. I think against Liverpool he missed two one vs one because lack of speed let him down. Just like the chance Rashford missed against West Ham, but Ibrahimovic didn't even have the speed to finish his race towards the goalkeeper. If he were clinical, we would have at least been 3rd. We need a younger striker |

Jones is one of the shortest centre backs out there. He is 5.11ft, if only he was even 6.1 Although Jones is still a very good jumper, we will need Smalling to play with him instead of Rojo. Rojo is trying but despite his height he offers nothing aerially. The advantage Smalling has is his ability to play on both sides of the Central defence over Bailly and Jones. Bailly has not been used on the LCB and it's glaring he will be uncomfortable there. Jones has played there but he is not as comfortable as Smalling on the left side centre defence. But it is left for the coach to know his best combination. |
Jose Mourinho has praised Phil Jones and taken a sly dig at rival Pep Guardiola. Mourinho is amazed by Jones' comeback from injury after fearing for his career. While Guardiola indulges John Stones with the ball at his feet at neighbours Manchester City, Mourinho reckons Jones is all about out-and-out defending. Jones’ form in the last three games has seen him turn back the clock to the time when he was branded the next John Terry while at Blackburn. Mourinho said: “It is difficult to compare players. Jones is faster than John; John is better in the air than Jones. “They are different players but what I like is defenders that enjoy defending. Jones likes to defend, as a defender. Sometimes defenders now think the most important quality is to build from the back. “That is not the most important quality. The most important quality is to defend. Then, if you can add quality in the build-up, you become a very good player. “But to defend is, for me, the most important quality in a central defender. I am getting that from Jones at a moment when he was not really ready to play. “He stepped in front because the team didn’t have players to play at Swansea and gave one step forward. I went for it. He has a good personality. Now, with one or two weeks of football and training, he looks very sharp and the team is safe.” [Source: The Sun] #MUFC #Jones #Mourinho |

We play West Ham again on Wednesday in the Capital 1 cup. Hope we get it right then. Mourinho doesn’t know his players yet. It was a wrong decision to play Darmian against West Ham. Luke Shaw should have played. Mourinho seems to be forcly rotate the team to keep some players from leaving in January. I am not a fan of Darmian. The introduction of Rooney and Mkhitaryan greatly lifted our game that I wondered why they were kept on the sideline for too long. Pogba was superb. His best performance so far. Mkhitaryan was good and he should be in the starting line up. We should play two of Mata, Rooney and Mkhitaryan. Then add one player from Martial, Lingard, Rashford to inject speed. Or we could just play Rooney, Mata Mkhitaryan for proper decision making. Ibrahimovic and Fellaini didn't make their height to count. Fellaini actually made our game to drop and the pressure on West Ham was off, then West Ham decided to come out again. Overall, it is just a matter of time before we start getting the results. Also, Mourinho should consider buying a young striker like Aubameyang |
Anderson has made a comparison between himself and Steven Gerrard on the day the former Liverpool captain announced his retirement. Speaking after Gerrard announced his retirement, Anderson pointed out that he won far more league titles in his career than Gerrard. "I won everything at the club. I won four Premier Leagues. "A player like Gerrard, who like, played for Liverpool, a player who has history in world football, didn't win one. And I achieve four playing for the club. "I was world champion at the club. I was Champions League champion. I played three Champions League finals for the club. "When I arrived at the club, all the players embraced me. They always joked with everyone. The guys there are very nice. "To this day, I'm passionate for that club. It's the number one in the world for me." [Source: Daily Mail] #MUFC #Anderson |

Vanquay:Playing Right Back doesn't give you a superior knowledge of assessing such a situation which took place in the final third. But it is possible the pass was not meant for Lingard. |
afrodoc2:It is true. With Mkhitaryan coming into the picture, the forward positions are now fully occupied. However if you talk about real width and wing play, these other guys cannot provide as much as Valencia. There are matches you just need that man who carries the ball down the field with great pace and balance to provide Assists and second Assists for team mates. |
adebayo201:Na true o. And fewer attempts at our goalkeeper. E sabi carry e defence line go high for field. |
afrodoc2:But he did it in in three seasons in the past. The most important thing is being in form. Even great wingers like Ribery sometimes look clueless in some matches. Recently we see Mahrez struggle. We see Martial, Rashford, etc struggle in the wing. Looking at it from another angle, he would be less fearless to adventure forward. Playing as a right back and overlapping comes with risks which was why he didn't want to adventure today with many men trying to block him. |
Vanquay:How do you know that? He probably meant it, I just reviewed the goal on youtube. Lingard was the only one who could run into that space. |
chrisley024:He tried na. There were many bodies in front of him today. He still delivered many decent crosses. |
chidexxy007:Let’s hope first he is not injured already. |
Phil Jones is a very good Center defender, unfortunately injury is stalling him. There is absolute calm to our defence since his return. He makes it looks easy and cool. He played the last 25 minutes of this match limping, hope it is not going to be back to the clinic. We have head to head advantage over Feyenoord and Fernabache. If only we drew at Fernabache, we would have been sure of winning the group. Good football from the lads today. |
