No cause for alarm. Jose Mourinho is getting to know his team and players. We will get better.
From the start of the season, we always play too deep, even against weak oppositions. With Bailly and Smalling in the central defence, I thought we were going to see us play high up the pitch beginning from today.
Some players were exposed today. Young was an upgrade on Mata.
Rashford was isolated, but it wasn't so from the start. When things were normal, he was poor in decision making. His immaturity was glaring. He might end up in the wing if he keeps playing that way.

So someone is still expecting Jone to prove himself?!
We ain't Arsenal, hence we don't have to make another Diaby out of him! He has since proven himself. In official United facebook page, I saw two people who also believe he is a great great defender. One even said if given the chance he will be another Terry. All our defenders are fighting for places, even Smalling is still proving himself. |

To be realistic, it's over for him as a Player! He should follow Hargreaves Footstep by hanging up his Boots at the end of this Campaign! I am not giving up on him yet. He is just 24. Two years ago, Smalling was almost like this. It's painful he won't have a chance to prove to Mourinho what he is capable of. By time he returns, he will be short of match fitness for a period. But if he manages to stay fit, December busy period would be a good chance for him. |

PHIL JONES SIDELINED WITH KNEE INJURY
Manchester United defender Phil Jones could be out of action for around a month after sustaining a knee injury.
Jose Mourinho revealed in Rotterdam that the centre-back has picked up a medial knee ligament problem and, hence, did not travel with the squad to face Feyenoord in the Europa League opener on Thursday.
Consequently, Jones may be sidelined for a few weeks, which is a blow, particularly considering the Reds have a busy schedule until the next international break in October.
Daley Blind and Eric Bailly have started as United's central defensive partnership in all of the games thus far this season but the manager has hinted he is considering shuffling his pack for the game at De Kuip. . www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2016/Sep/phil-jones-picks-up-medial-knee-ligament-injury.aspx?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=ManUtd

Jose Mourinho is now facing the media to preview Thursday's Europa League group match in Feyenoord.
He starts by addressing Wayne Rooney's absence from the match squad:
"He plays every game since the beginning of the season and also 90 minutes for England. I want him to be fresh for the next Premier League match."
Mourinho admits the Europa League is not every players dream but the team still wants to win the competition.
"I know the Europa League is not the big dream of every big player, but you're not in the Champions League - you have to find your motivation.
"You come to respect your opponent, you come to win the game...we want to win the competition. It's difficult to do it but it is simple to feel it and say it - that is how we want to approach the competition.
"I have brought a very good squad and I will play with a very good team. After defeat, the best thing is to play. Everyone wants to be on the pitch tomorrow."
Ander Herrera also present spoke to the media and said the team wants to show a reaction to the Derby defeat.
"I'm playing for the most successful team in England and we always want to keep winning things. We want to win every game. Tomorrow is a good challenge for us - we have to show a reaction from Saturday.
"We are enjoying every training session and every player is ready to play. We have a good squad, we are playing with freedom because we feel the confidence of our manager."

Jose wouldn't have travelled with Ibra. He's old, needs rest and only a game per week. The Capital 1 cup will give us a clue on what is happening to Jones. If he is injured, we won't see him. |

Oasis007: List of Squad Members for the Europa Match
Luke Shaw and Valencia are rested! Rojo and Mensah are likely to start as LB and RB respectively!
Lingard is honorably left out too! Same as Mkhitaryan (because of injury though).
ROONEY is rested or deliberately left out?! Yes, Shaw, Valencia, Rooney, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Jones, are the major absentees. Shaw, Valencia, Rooney are likely rested. Valencia deserves it most. Shaw is recovery from injury. Mkhitaryan and Lingard were likely axed. Lingard will have to fight his way back into the team while Mkhitaryan will have to be gradually introduced into the team. Jones is either not selected or injured. Mkhitaryan, Lingard and Jones will have to start from the capital 1 cup. They have a long way to go now to coming back to first eleven. |

eph12: Yea his energy is amazing but end product is shit. He can't be in that position and average less than 1 key pass. It's a waste of space and energy. He has 2.5 key pass per game. Under a new manager with things just shaping up. Pogba, Martial and Fellaini are the next with 1.3 key pass per game (each) |

The seasons Rooney boasts the best player/top scorer since 2013 has seen the club win nada, that should tell us something. When you play with poo players around you, you win nothing. Love, Jackson, Fletcher, Falcao, Blackette, and 3-5-2 experiement wouldn't have won anyone anything. |

The current Rooney is the most useless player we currently have. A waste of space for a number 10.
Yes! I said it. 1 goal, 2 Assists in four games, he is useless. This is why you are not a coach, of even a Kindergarten school team. |

Haba elampiro. small small na. I have no problem with Mkhitaryan. We have to give him time. But that performance sha... I actually boasted about him, and someone gave me a call from when he was playing badly. Rooney was good for us in 2011/2012, 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. He was still our top scorer in 2013/2014 and 2014/2015. He was the only one who appeared to click with Di Maria He still helped us to win FA cup last season with his control of midfield. |

eph12: Do you know Fellaini was asked to play furthest of the 3 midfielders? And that was why balls were being looped into the sky at every given opportunity. Pogba was poor in decision making though as he always wanted to make things happen by himself but most times he was too deep for that And this is Rooney’s fault? This again shows Rooney is not the one hindering Pogba from playing behind the striker directly. |

eph12: So how can you say Ali was asked to play furthest when Rooney is in that team? That he was finding his way up there to make things happen does not mean he was asked to play furthest. His finding himself up there was creating holes in the midfield I will assume you didn't follow England matches from the friendlies. If England were to play a man behind the striker, it was Ali. If England were to play a two man midfield, it was Dier and Rooney. Right from the match against Russia, Rooney sat deep with Dier, even going to help his defenders, but Ali was almost always close to Kane and Lalana. But at the end Rooney still had more shots on target than his forwards. He threatened the keepers most with quality attempts. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 1:09pm On Sep 13, 2016 |
Danhumprey: elampiro, however you look at it, sailorxy was spot on correct.
The truth is, Rooney has no use, no reason to be in the starting lineup. He adds nothing to our play, he's taking up useful space in the team.
If Mourinho won't play a 3-man midfield where does well, then he should bench Rooney and free up the number 10 position for Pogba, Micki,et al.
Simple. Rooney is the most important player for us. How can you say someone with one goal, two quality Assists is useless? |

eph12: When you have a player that has all the energy but efficiency is zero something is wrong. It makes that player look like candidates for average teams. I am not blaming Rooney for yesterday so don't think it's about last match. Hw has not been efficient over the last two years and everyone knows this not just nigerian fans on NL. And that's why the debate is still on even in England as to where they can fix Rooney. Two seasons ago he was our highest goal scorer. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:53pm On Sep 13, 2016 |
eph12: The purpose of the three man midfield is to make Pogba further up the pitch and not Rooney Ok. Just as Dele Ali was the furthest for England. Rooney even has better positioning discipline than Pogba. But we appeared to have played three man midfield of Herrera, Fellaini and Pogba in the second half against City. Pogba was playing for himself. |

This pic is a reminder to those who thought Gaal never benched Rooney. Gaal benched Rooney twice. The two times, our attack was mechanical and couldn't find a way out to trouble the defence, and Rooney was brought in at half time which improved us in both occasions. It was after the second time that the British media stopped criticizing him.

SailorXY: it's not about favorites. I believe when you identify a problem in your team as a manager & you spend with intentions of fixing that problem, then your should give them priority cuz the problem was there with the current players. Time & time again we have failed to do this starting from Kagawa (I know SAF couldn't pass up the RvP opportunity so I can make the exception).
This thing whereby we barely give new players opportunities to adapt & see how they solve issues why they were bought in the first place is terrible.
Last term the defense was good but we were creating next to nothing without Martial/Rashford. We bring in attacking reinforcements & deploy them wrongly or on the bench cuz their positions clash with Rooney? Mehn fück that! Rooney never clashed with Martial and Rashford. Rooney has always been sacrificed for players, beginning from the days of Alan Smith, Saha, Tevez, Bervatov and Chicharito. His versatility and energy meant he was not allowed develop in his best position at young age. Kagawa was never better than Rooney. If the coaches actually identified Rooney as a problem, they would have sold him in the summer. It was very clear that Rooney was going to be part of Mourinho's plan. |

When a striker misplaced a pass, defenders and midfielders should defend it. That has nothing to do with the shocking performance of Mkhitaryan. I have not seen anything like that before. |
