dopeJemi:You see, this is a fair representation of his performance. If everyone who made him looked like he was the worst player didn’t say anything about him, there wouldn't have been problem. I didn't even praise Rooney full time. I only praised him at half time while I thought we would turn the match around. The truth is, I thought this season, we are going to talk less about Rooney as Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Martial would carry the team. If these guys do well, the inneficiency of one man would not be noticed. There are days Benzema would be very bad, but you wouldn't notice because of the other ten. But here, Rooney is said to hinder the remaining ten. How possible? |
dopeJemi:You are a compound fool. Rooney has never been so easily shaken off the ball, feel nervous as Mkhitaryan did. And he never been so uninvolved as Lingard was when not playing as the striker. How can wingers or midfielders be so anonymous? |
SailorXY:You failed to notice that every time Martial had been substituted in all our matches so far, Rooney had been pushed to play on the left, in Martial's position. And he had always done well there. In one of the matches, Rooney was also substituted for Mephis, then Mephis messed up as soon as he came on, we went under pressure. Mephis almost gave a goal away. Rooney created our goal for Rashford to score against Hull from that wing. Mourinho also said in the summer, that when United played Madrid, Rooney was used by SAF to hinder his full back from going forward. May be Mourinho already had the plan to occasionally use Rooney there. Again, Martial, Mephis and Young don't have the crossing. On three man midfield, it is very easy. Rooney can be used as SAF sometimes used Scholes highest in a three man midfield. Lampard also played that way. I think even Gerald. If Mourinho wants to play it, he can do so with or without Rooney. |
Nihilist:Martial will win golden boot this season if Rooney is benched. Rooney is hindering Martial. The problem started when both went to Euro 2016, and Martial couldn't perform due to Rooney's laziness. |
dopeJemi:Shut up you Ekwe Sample. Rooney has never been that poor. What we saw from Mkhitaryan and Lingard. |
elrony:It is very obvious that SailorXY is an apostle of favoring young and new players. SailorXY has been saying Rooney doesn't deserve to start, but from last match, it appears some of the players (Mkhitaryan, Lingard) SailorXY wants to get in ahead of Rooney, failed. Hence there has to be a heavy attack on Rooney to take away the attention from the poor performances of his favourites. |
dopeJemi:Why should I blame Rooney when you people maliciously blame him? We are talking about this match. Blind and Bailly were at fault for the first goal. Blind for the second. Then Mkhitaryan and Lingard were very poor. Pogba played for himself. Rooney tried to make things happen by being involved in some of the moves. You be Ekwe Sample. |
SailorXY:Stop this nonsense. England played 3 man midfield with Rooney. Stop blaming other players poor performances on Rooney. Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Blind and Pogba were the reason we lost the match. Haba! |
SCHOLES: EVERYONE IS EXPECTING BLIND TO FAIL... INCLUDING ME! "Blind is a better defensive midfielder for United than he is a centre-back, but he’s been an excellent partner for Eric Bailly so far this season, hence why Chris Smalling is not in the team at the moment," Scholes is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News. "Yet, he's not won everybody over yet. Why? Because he's physically limited in the Premier League and people are expecting him to be found at some point. I suppose I still am, and against City he was found wanting against a dynamic Kevin de Bruyne. I would rather see Smalling partner Bailly in the long-term.”" m.goal.com/s/en/news/1862/premier-league/2016/09/12/27434622/scholes-everyone-is-expecting-blind-to-fail-including-me?ICID=OP |
Jamie Carragher analysed Paul Pogba's Manchester derby performance on Monday Night Football, describing his first-half display as "ill-disciplined". Carragher said Pogba's positioning throughout the first half left his midfield team-mate exposed to David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, who impressed as City grabbed the initiative before holding on for victory. "I don't think it was so much that Pep Guardiola got it massively right than Jose Mourinho got it tactically wrong," Carragher said. "He wasn't helped by the performance of his players - he subbed two at half-time - but specifically the performance of Paul Pogba. "For a central midfielder in a game of that magnitude, I think for the first 40 minutes it was one of the most ill-disciplined performances you will see. "The only way to describe it was like watching the best player in the schoolyard that runs where he wants and does what he wants. "Five minutes into a Manchester derby, when you know the centre of the pitch is so important to stopping Man City, he finds himself in a left-wing role trying to receive the ball. "I never thought I'd say this, but I felt so sorry for Fellaini. He was left on his own in the centre of the pitch and there was so much space [for Man City]. "Pogba has cost what he has cost and he has done what he has done, he's not a kid. He is 23. You find yourself looking at situations where Man Utd are leaving acres of space in the most important part of the pitch against a Pep Guardiola team. "His job, when you are playing in a two in midfield, is to be disciplined, especially against Silva and De Bruyne. It is either he has got it wrong or Mourinho has given him licence to do what he wants and that is wrong." Carragher and fellow Monday Night Football analyst Phil Neville also discussed how Man Utd can get the best out of Pogba in the future, with the pair agreeing a three-man midfield is necessary for big games. "I have criticised Pogba for his performance, but he has great talent and abilities," Carragher added. "I wouldn't say you would ever build a team around one man, but if you've spent that much money, I think if you are picking your team, you say, 'Where are we getting the best out of him?' Then others can work around that. www.skysports.com/football/news/29327/10575854/jamie-carragher-breaks-down-paul-pogbas-manchester-derby-performance

Fellaini and his elbow
|
afrodoc2:These players they are calling for their inclusion to the starting line up will eventually get plenty of time, some of these people will still tear them apart when the results are not as expected. We saw it last season. We have lost one match out of five (counting from community shield) everyone is suddenly shouting crisis. |
afrodoc2:That match could have gone either way even if it were Madrid or Barca hitting |
SailorXY:His best position is behind the striker. |
SailorXY:It is an evil thing that on a day our problems were caused by Mkhitaryan and Lingard, you people have decided to shift the blame to Rooney who was among the few good players for us. Shame that this is the case now. Rooney is the scapegoat every time we don't get a result. Without Valencia, Shaw, Fellaini and Rooney, we would have been completely annihilated in the first half. Every time we managed to go forward in the first half, it was something that involved Rooney. Go and watch the highlight again. He almost set up Ibra for an equaliser with a pin pointing cross to his head but Ibrahimovic headed straight at the goalkeeper. He and Valencia were the two who managed to go forward in the first half. The Mkhitaryan I saw in that game wouldn't even make the bench if Mourinho were to be fair. I have never seen such a woeful performance, and I rated this guy high based on what I read here. Instead of talking about Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Pogba, Blind and even Bailly, you people put the blame on one of those who ensured we were not humiliated. Rooney is the reason why crude oil price collapsed from $140 per barrel to $40 in the international market. |
Below is what someone wrote about Rooney on facebook. Some of these things are in the video highlight I posted some pages back. ......................... "... anything good yesterday for United came through Rooney... The goal, the chance straight after that nearly brought a goal, two really good breaks that Mkhytaryan messed up and the challenge that should have been a pen! I think he's been much better this year. Not the Rooney of 5 years ago but much better." |
Funlordjnr Do you know that the freekick taken by Rooney from which we scored after City keeper dropped it, is one of those 23 items counted as possession lost by Rooney? ![]() If I say you no know ball, you no go agree. That journalist wey write that article na Ekwe Sample. He wan sell paper because Rooney matter must sell. Those who didn't watch the match would start hating Rooney for nothing. |
sinizia:So Rooney is now the one preventing Pogba from playing number 10? When I said in the summer that Rooney was adapting well into a central midfielder, you people attacked me that we needed a world class central midfielder like Pogba. Now we have Pogba in central midfield, you want him in the number 10. Pogba is first a CM before an AM. He even played DM for France. Una too dey get sleepless nights over Rooney. If Rooney is on the bench, you people will still blame him for losing us games from the bench. Ukwu!!! |
Funlordjnr:Stop telling lies. I am looking at stats tight now. I will like to tell me how Rooney lost possession 23 times other than the crosses, free kicks and corners that didn't connect. Rooney only misplaced 6 passes and was Dispossessed 3 times. He didn't attempt any dribble. You no know ball. |
joeace2020:Arsenal were helped by a penalty that was not a penalty. It even came at 91st minute. |
Funlord If set plays and crossing from the wings are used as part of possession lost calculation, then Ozil and Silva would have the highest possession lost for their teams. If you want to calculate possession lost, look at: 1. Dispossessed 2. Pass accuracy stat Rooney had 80% pass accuracy which was the 3rd highest in the team, and 2nd among the players that ended the game. Only Valencia had higher pass accuracy among the players that finished the game. Rooney had only 3 disposesion in the whole 90 minutes. He had zero unsuccessful touch. But Mkhitaryan had 3 dispossession and another 3 unsuccessful touch in just 45 minutes despite playing in the wing. |
Mourinho said he included Mkhitaryan and Lingard in anticipation of City boss Pep Guardiola trying to bring his full-backs into midfield as he has done during the opening weeks of the season. However, the ove did not emerge during a pulsating contest and the Portuguese said the loss could not be attributed to a tactical breakdown. "They respected our capacity to attack through the wings," he added. "They thought about [Antonio] Valencia, they thought about Luke Shaw, they thought about our wingers. They didn't do that. "They brought [John] Stones into that space a few times. So we didn't have a tactical problem; we had a problem with poor performances – giving the ball away very, very easy. "Our central defenders, who were top class until today, they lost easy balls. Bad, bad passes from [Eric] Bailly to [Marouane] Fellaini, from [Daley] Blind to [Paul] Pogba. We lost the ball in these kind of positions. "So it was not just Mkhi and Jesse. It was much more than Mkhi and Jesse." m.goal.com/s/en/news/1862/premier-league/2016/09/10/27380612/dont-blame-mkhitaryan-and-lingard-for-derby-loss-mourinho?ICID=OP |
Funlordjnr: See this article added unconnected corner kicks taken by Rooney, free kicks, Crosses and said Rooney lost most possession. I have my stats. Even so, Mkhitaryan and Lingard lost possession most if prorated to the one half they played. Lingard was mainly anonymous, not necessarily losing possession. Rooney was one of our top performers, it is even evident on the pitch You no know ball. . |
patrickmuf:Correct 100% He may have lost some of his pace, his shooting and dribbling. He has the sharpest awareness in the team and the best decision making. I see many times Martial, Lingard, Young and Memphis would go behind the defence line from the wing, but their final pass to pick a man is mostly disappointing after initial good work. There are times they need to put the ball on someone's head, they would just hit a low cross, etc. |
Bailly is as culpable as Blind for the first goal we conceded. Rooney's decision making and final balls are still the best in the team. Pogba decided to shoot from 30 yards even when Ibrahimovic had escaped from his marker reading for a drop ball to nod in. I have seen many like that in the team. SAF boys were very good at making the correct decision, the reason he didn't want to leave Giggs. Ibrahimovic is great buy he needs to improve on his awareness in the fast paced EPL. He should have easily equalised just before half time if he was aware of his environment. The keeper was out, that he knew, but he failed to realize the man that was with him had long left to block the post. There is big hope for this team. |

sinizia:Plenty. From Thursday we will have an opportunity of acessing more players. Smalling, Jones, Young, Darmian, Mensah, Schneiderlin, Mephis will have a chance to start. |
sinizia:He didn’t play the number 10. City adopted a 4-3-3 kind of formation with Fernadinho, Silva and Bruyne playing behind Iheanacho, Sterling and Nolito. |
sinizia:Bruyne played on the wing na. |
sinizia:Rooney played well. He was among the better performers. |
sinizia:Goal praised no one in United. But they had worse comment for Mkhitaryan and Lingard. They also got the least ratings. I am tired of you. |
sinizia:You said Rooney was as bad as Mkhitaryan and Lingard, and the whole world know it is a big lie. You just want to use this distraction to cover Mkhitaryan and Lingard. |
