UniqueGem:We all knew Rooney before we signed him. I thought you had something to share to us about this guy that might arouse our interest in him. |
UniqueGem:Potential to warrant 36 million pounds. Do you know his game? |
UniqueGem:How did you arrive at this so soon? Within 30 minutes. |
Can Blind really play CD than Phil Jones? The moment our fullbacks ventured forward, Blind couldn't cover. Last season even with a high line defence, with Blind moving to join Young in attack Jones dealt with potentials threats from pacing wingers and strikers. I still think we will play more pressing game if our defence line play high, and that can only happen if we play quick feet of Smalling and Jones. Last season United did not lose any match the dou started together as centre backs. Their record from when they arrived is very impressive. |
Fellaini sef, na just busy body for nothing inside the box. |
UniqueGem:The problem is that he is a teenager. 19 years. |
This man will deal ruthlessly with some players soon. Look at the anger in his face.
|
weedtaker:So na rival? I didn't know. |
Kolade354:Reports coming out say we have bid for certain Anthony Martial. €50m |
How can someone not repay a manager that has done so much for you? Rooney let Van Gaal down today. He let down his team mates and many of us. Rooney ought to go out there and battle for Van Gaal, if anything. Rooney has had four go with the goalkeeper this season and he has delayed one or two seconds longer in each of them thereby allowing a defender to catch up. Sometimes you just shoot even if the angle is not so clear. I could forgive him against Tottenham because the season was just starting and fitness was a problem for some. Now it's 6 matches into the season. He looks sharper now, but why can't he shoot? His first chance today was to his right foot, but he deliberatly waited for the defender to see if he could beat to the right to get a total clearance at goal. His dribbling was even too casual. The obvious decision was to pick an angle and hit quickly. Does a striker delay or hesitate? The last chance that should have redeemed him a little, he did well to go past the defender, but what on earth was he waiting for? I am suppose to becoming here to be shouting Up Rooney! Up Rooney! We threw away three points today. |
We are going into the international break with pains. Two weeks of pains. This post Ferguson era is not easy. Our game makes we angry, 20 passes in midfield then back to goalkeeper. In Ferguson era, once we left defence it's with speed we took the ball to the final third. We cannot afford to go though a third season of pains. Gaal should find a solution. |
I very well believe De Pay will do well. I don't know why any one would blame him. He did very well until about 60 minutes. He is a young player, he was demoralized and tired when we went down at a time we should be leading comfortably. It took CR7 time to boss games. De Pay played his part well. |
AdeLaNa1:Today he has shattered my belief. He should be relegated to the third striker. He should just go MLS to play big man football. Three great chances he slowed down when he was suppose to move with force and shoot. We should have been two nil up at half time. |
Leyqute:Rooney. -9/10 Negative. Which striker on earth waits to be caught by a defender when through on goal? And he takes his frustration to the referee putting us against the referee. He doesn't play with energy as before and I thought by today he would start hitting goals. |
Rooney has disappointed me badly. His movement is okay but his feeble attempt at goal from two clear cut chances is indefensible. Too casual. Chicharito should come in for Rooney. |
Fact : 2011/12 Robin Van Persie : 3334 minutes 30 goals. Rooney : 2838 minutes 27 goals. Minutes per goal 2011/2012 Van Persie 111.13 Rooney 105.11 And RVP was playing as a sole striker while Rooney was operating behind Chicha and Welbeck. If Rooney had the opportunity of playing as many minutes as Van Persie, he would have been the highest scorer. So what is the hullabaloo about golden shoe? Rooney doesn't even care about individual awards. He could also have won the Golden boot in 2010 but he had to complete the season playing with injury from the Munich game. .............. Perhaps it is the new-found maturity of fatherhood - 'I'm now in bed by 10.30. It used to be after 1am, it's been a big change' - but Rooney is not interested in the individual accolades or the praise from as important a judge as Fabio Capello, who says his 'fantastic' striker has 'improved in every area and in one part of the pitch especially, close to goal'. As he prepares to face Arsenal in today's huge clash at the top of the Premier League, Rooney insisted his determination to help United win a record-breaking fourth successive title takes precedence over adding the three goals he needs to break his own record of 23 in a season, or any personal achievement. 'The only figure I'm thinking of is winning that fourth League,' said Rooney. 'No team has ever done that before. I am not interested in individual awards. If I get a lot of goals I'll be happy but to be honest I'm more of a team player than someone interested in individual awards. 'The first League I won we dominated from day one until the end of the season and from then we've gone on and won the Champions League and two more titles. It's been an amazing three years and if the next three are anything like as successful, I know myself, the other players, the manager and the fans will be very happy.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1247335/Wayne-Rooney-United-club--There-days-I-dont-want-Sir-Alex-City-win-massive-I-need-end-feud-Moyes.html |
Lastly, as far as I know, Rooney has the best record in EPL against top UCL oppositions in UCL knockout stages. Only Madrid he hasn't scored against. If only our best goal getter was on the field in a central role at Old Trafford on that night. |
Look for Nistelrooy on this list, you will not see him. Rooney was busy feeding him and Alan Smith. Premier League All time most assists Assists Assist name 131 Ryan Giggs 99 Steven Gerrard 96 Frank Lampard 94 Wayne Rooney 89 Francesc Fabregas 80 Thierry Henry 62 James Milner 60 Robin van Persie 59 Gareth Barry 58 Ashley Young 57 Stewart Downing 56 Didier Drogba 53 Danny Murphy 53 Peter Crouch 51 David Silva 51 Nolberto Solano 50 Damien Duff 50 Aaron Lennon 49 Nani 49 Dennis Bergkamp 48 Mikel Arteta 48 Morten Gamst Pedersen 48 Leighton Baines 47 Nicolas Anelka 47 Dimitar Berbatov 46 Cristiano Ronaldo 45 Paul Scholes 45 Luis Antonio Valencia 44 David Beckham 43 Charles N'Zogbia 43 Robbie Keane 43 Kevin Davies 42 Jermaine Pennant 42 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink 42 Chris Brunt 41 Michael Carrick 40 Steed Malbranque 39 Shaun Wright-Phillips 38 Robert Pires 38 Paolo Di Canio 38 Gabriel Agbonlahor 38 Carlos Tevez 38 Andrew Cole 38 Theo Walcott 37 Juan Mata 37 Matthew Etherington 37 Emile Heskey 37 Emmanuel Adebayor 36 Samir Nasri 36 Bobb |
In the Champions League, Rooney has scored more than any EPL player crucial stages. If SAF had not been resting him against low European teams, he would have scored far more. Such matches as Roma home, Schalke 04 home etc. SAF rested Rooney. Also many final group matches when we had already qualified. Even in cheap EPL fixtures when we had a UCL game. After we got the job done in Rome, Rooney and Ronaldo were rested while Tevez was asked to play. Against Schalke we won heavily in Germany, Rooney was rested while Berbatov was asked to play the home fixtures. Etc. |

If Rooney didn't play behinf Heskey, Crouch, Defoe, Carol, it would be fair to compare him with Ibrahimovic, etc. Rooney has always been a number 10, only recently they started focusing him as the arrow head. Even now he still plays behind Wekbeck or Sturridge. He also played in the wing last year for England and at the world cup. I don't want the arguing but I had to point out these things. Good I came here today. . |
nyabinghi: Your stat wouldn't be complete if you don't add Assist Rooney has only played number 9 once in 2009/10 and he outscored Nistelrooy's best scoring season in the EPL. Nistelrooy best scoring season 2002/3 with 25 goals. Rooney scored 26 in 2009/10. Rooney should really be compared to Cantona because they both were 10. There, Rooney outperformed Cantona. Rooney even played in the wing almost throughout his first season for United.

Just read Wayne Rooney somewhat shy to express his Christian faith. Common among British footballers. They said it was worse those days, one would be perceived to be a weak man. No wonder they struggle. ![]() Chicharito is very proud to express his faith. May be without this he would have been a ball boy. lol |

awesome4:If he tried that, I would disown him. ![]() He is simply thanking God for helping him to break the yoke of barriness. It's nothing more than a gratitude to God. The acts of raising hands to heavens was started by the very religious Kaka, then followed by Lionel Messi. South Americans are very religious Christians. Kaka once said he could go study for Catholic priesthood when he retires from football. In 2012 Messi went on a pilgrimage to a place called Medjugorje in Herzegovina, a place very devout Catholics go for spiritual retreat, blessings and prayers. If there are some Catholics here, some could understand the history behind this Holy Place. I don't want to go into the details because of conflict of faith. In 2011/12 season, Roberto Macini had a very clear dream in late March that he should go to Medjugorje to pray (Vicka is one of six people who have been seeing physical apparitions of Mary since 1981 when they were still children/teenagers). Macini had a vivid dream about Visionary Vicka calling him to come to Medjugorje for prayers. He was able to squeeze himself a little time between matches to go visit the place and the Visionary. I read it then, and I told my elder brother and friends that heaven might have just already crowned City the Champions. See here for more : http://www.medjugorjetoday.tv/7887/football-manager-credits-mary-for-title/ We also have Cristiano Ronaldo who sometimes raises his hands to heaven when he scores. Lampard has that habit too but I wouldn't know if that has a religious connection. I will investigate. Talking about investigation, I just discovered Wayne Rooney shares same faith with me, he is a Catholic. I used to think he is just an 'ordinary man'. More reason to support him. Since came to this thread, I have been having more reasons to support Wayne. ![]() The third picture here shows Macini being prayed for by Visionary Vicka in late March 2012 in the heat of title race.

Nihilstjnr: But wait. Was Rooney not suppose to have a clean sheet against Brugges, then he would be substituted for Chicharito and Fellaini to come in to shame Rooney? |
Nihilstjnr: Which team eliminated Liverpool from Europa last season? And Brugges eliminated that team. ![]() |
Rooney is on the verge of breaking many records. Top scorers in Europe for Manchester United is one of three records Rooney will break if he keeps free from injury. All the records in United and EPL he is between 1st and 3rd. Yoriyori.

So Rooney dismantled a team that had not lost at home in ten European matches and some people still play it down. This is surely an antiRooney thread. Rooney scored three goals in a match Chicharito missed an empty net from four yards, and on another occasion failed to even connect a free header. I can forgive him for the missed penalty. Without the goals, Rooney gave a vitouso performance. His visions are unmatched. When he dropped deep he allowed Memphis De Pay and others into attacking space. He gave a perfect pass for De Pay to score but Depay missed again just like the first leg. He won a penalty but out of generosity he allowed Chicharito to take it. Rooney is a perfect team player. People forget so soon Rooney had a legitimate goal disaallowed against Newcastle, yet they abuse him. I have been away from the thread for a few days. I had to read backlog of post from Sunday and it was an eventful one for me. I saw how people wrote Rooney would have a clean sheet against Brugges. Fast forward many pages later, the same people said Brugges are a weak team. Ukwu!!! Many more comments that got me laughing. But the thread is tiring sha. AntiRooney thread. We were told strikers don't stop ball after Rooney stopped Young's pass against Spurs, now Chicharito tried to hit first time into an empty net but missed from 4 yards. I keep saying this, all Rooney needs to do is to avoid injury, then score two goals for three Lions in two weeks time so that he can put that record behind him. I like the way he dodged legs eroute to scoring that third goal. Not yet time to take risks. |

coded01:We signed Di Maria who had an explosive start to the EPL but things soon changed. I can't blame my coach for being undecided about Pedro. |
