Romero is a good keeper but he is too slow reacting to back passes, moreso darmian had no business passing that ball back when the keeper was closed down.

Romero doesn't like to hit his passes aimlessly into play. He wants to pick a man, that's is why he looks slow. Other than that back pass he probably didn't expect, he had another good day tonight.

I agree, Rooney's overall play improved today which is good for the team and we hope and pray he gets to a level he can cause problems for opposing teams and score goals. However chicharito and Fellaini who have not played any game for us this season can be said to be on Rooneys fitness level with just this their first game played. They will also improve and give Rooney a run for that position.

Depay messed up with that sexy flick on from Rooney, but we will forgive him over nd over again as long as he continues to put in displays like this and even improve.

Rooney`s game improved today compared to his last two games. His energy was higher. I love that take-down that he gave to Depay. if depay had scored that, it would have been a lovely combination.

All in all, LvG seems to be getting a firmer grip on his first team. We've used the same defenders for 3 straight matches now unlike last season when Plato was tinkering with the squad.

If it's by score I agree. But play, Rooney did well today. The only problem is for him to be more forceful.

However, if Memphis had converted those two clear cut chances provided by Rooney, it would have meant he had two great Assists. His overall play was also good.

He is stepping up already. This has been his best game. He could have had 2 assist but Memphis missed two one vs one provided by Rooney.

What I dislike.

Scaring back passes. It was back pass that led to us conceding the first goal. Smalling to Romero. Romero under pressure passed back to Smalling who shot panickly into throw in. Then next a free kick.

Another thing I dislike is the slow build up. It takes us 20 passes to get to the final third.

Overall it's a good play so far. Good game from Memphis. Smalling also played very well.

All the people i mentioned went on to become leaders,as you put it. The forst step to being a leader is showing you have any sort of ability and that confidence can be reposed in you.

I gat you. But we are looking for a leader not a prospect. Our team is not very balanced to accommodate the inconsistency that accompanies the game of a young defender.

There are a few teams in Europe that can afford to have teenagers and the lapses won't be obvious, but certainly not us. The City team can afford a teenager and everything will still work well.

If we bought a 21 years old would he be a leader of Smalling or a learner under Smalling? We will have a partnership of Smalling and a learner. A learner who might really not be better than McNair when tested in the EPL.

For instance, you said Thiago Silva played for Brazil at 22. But even at 2010 world cup Lucio was the leader of the Brazilian defence. Dani Alves was also a pillar and there was Gilberto. So Brazil could afford to have a rookie at the center back.

Jones and Smalling played for England even at a younger age, they have been shielded by the experience of Jagielka, Cahill, even Ferdinand. Should one of them go on to be world class you would tell us how they came to power since their teenage years.

That reminds me, there was a certain young defender that was so highly, Nastasic. He couldn't cope in Man City and his inexperience cost them some points.

Even Mangala, his young age is a problem. But at 24 he is playing better this season.

Defenders don't attain consistency until they reach 25. The best defenders are between 25/26 and 32.

Busquet is far far more physical than Carrick. Far more athletic. Has more pace. Busquet has no problem being the last man in defence to mark even the fastest striker. Even in Carrick's youthful days, he was just 70% of Busquet's athleticism at best.
