raumdeuter:I gat you U. Football started 2 years ago. The one won by Mikel, Ramires, Torres, Terry, Ivanovic, Louiz, etc should be written off. Even Rooney is still active. Gerrard, Lampard all still active. But the UCL they won should be confined to 1929 just to make case for Laliga. Dayo go and zleep. This argument is over. |
raumdeuter:Super cup. Europa involvement? When Chelsea played Europa my Chelsea friends never took it serious. If Chelsea were not badly robbed. Two EPL teams would have played in final two years in a row. The rest is yeye stories. |
raumdeuter:Which other teams manage to dominate EPL teams? If you cant point out any one that won the UCL, then close the subject. |
raumdeuter:Chelsea won it 2012. Bayern won it 2013. In 2014, Two EPL teams played the quarter final. One played the semi. Chelsea played in the semi final. So stop writing like EPL teams played last in semi in 2004. Best/strong league is not about one or two teams. It's about 20 teams. |
raumdeuter:Henry and Nisreltooy went to play pension football in Spain. Also Beckham. Two of these are players rejected by SAF. Barca and Madrid keep the reigning players. Madrid sold Di Maria and then bought James. They also try to attract the reigning players. They can afford to do this because the financial power in Spanish football is concentrated in two clubs. This is why in your logic, Ibrahimovic and Robben are also rejects. When power that should be shared by 20 teams is concentrated in only two teams. Then the league is not good enough. As for Bundesliga... That is a monopolized league. |
raumdeuter:Like Bayern does every year. Bayern always be the first to be crowned champions in elite Leagues. |
chrisley024:He has only played one season. That chart (sourced from whoscored) has just exposed the incositency in whoscored formation when they just came on board. Even now they still make mistakes. Although it's now reduced drastically. |
sinizia:That is a direct lift from whoscored. You see 2010/2011, the chart stated Rooney played as a CF. It was at the end of that season SAF said Rooney is his number 10. I don’t intend to go this all over. |
This is really funny. Germany population is higher than the whole of UK. German economy is better. So why aren't people interested in paying much locally to view the matches. International: 2014/15 season which is the latest figures we have. Premier league were able to sell it's oversea TV right for $1billion. Bundesliga could only sell for $80million. I beg make we leave this free to air league. Despite being on free to air in Nigeria, people arent even intersted. I tried to follow two years ago. Na punishement to watch to sit and watch 45 minutes of Bundesliga matches. True! When I watch first half, I usually find it hard to continue second half. |
An Apples-To-Apples Comparison Of TV Rights Fees Paid To Big European Soccer Leagues 2/15/2015 @ 3:30PM 3,043 views The shock-wave caused by the Premier League’s record domestic TV rights deal continues to reverberate around the world but especially in Europe. Prior to the announcement on Tuesday the other big leagues in Europe held a hope that they could at least close the gap with the Premier League behemoth. That bubble burst when Sky and BT secured the UK rights to broadcast three seasons of the Premier League starting in 2016/17 season and concluding with the 2018/19 season. Starting in the 2016/17 season the twenty Premier League clubs will generate $2.7B from domestic rights alone; the combined take for domestic and foreign rights of the top leagues in France, Germany and Italy will be $3B. Once foreign sales are concluded in the next year the Premier League can expect another $1.4B and that means the gap between the Premier and the three rival leagues will expand to over 36%. What is more the teams from the Premier League that qualify for next season’s Champions League can look forward to at least another $30M in guaranteed money on account of a new domestic TV deal for the rights to Europe’s top club competition. BT paid over $1.3B to outbid rival Sky that had previously paid around $600M. With some many numbers flying around it can difficult to determine if we are getting an apples-to-apples comparison. Are we dealing with domestic rights or domestic and international rights? Are we using comparable contracts? What exchange rates are being used? Some contracts are fixed and some include escalation clauses. None of the TV contract cycles are aligned so here is a chart showing when the current TV deals expire and when the next deals will finish. La Liga has not been included in any of the charts on account of the yet to be agreed approach to move from individual selling to centralized marketing. The government says it has to be done, the teams agree but none of the clubs – namely Real Madrid and Barcelona – that stand to lose in the short term can agree on a transitional plan. Here are the values of current domestic and overseas rights for this current season. (Exchange rates used £=$1.53, €=$1.13 and any escalation has been averaged.) 2014 rights (see link) Then we come to what the picture will look like in 2016/17. 2017 TV rights The overseas rights for Ligue 1 contain an extra twist. The current deal runs out at the conclusion of the 2017/18 season but a new deal has already been agreed that pre-sells the rights from 2018 right through to the end of the 2023/24 season. Last June BeIN Sports agreed to pay €80 million ($90M) a year for six years to the League for overseas rights. The boost for the Bundesliga comes from an international deal signed between the league and Fox that is expected to bump the rights fee by at least $90M starting with the 2015/16 season. And the Premier League TV bonanza was not the only rights story from last week. North American broadcasters were stunned to learn that Fox Sports in the US and Bell Media (CTV, TSN and RDS) in Canada had negotiated an extension to their World Cup deals with FIFA. Originally set to expire after Qatar 2022 the two broadcasters have successfully leveraged the soon-to-be-announced move to a winter World Cup in 2022 into what must be close to a “buy two get one at a reduced price” deal. As noted in last weeks column FIFA’s reserves will likely climb to around $1.5B when financial results are announced in May.With reserves running at around 30% of the revenue generated in the most recent four-year cycle FIFA has decided to deal with some potentially squeaky wheels while they have the money to take a financial hit. There can be little doubt that FIFA has had to buy off the two North American broadcasters given that a late or early year World Cup will conflict with the normal North American sports calendar. But what FIFA get in return is some financial certainty and more importantly the risk of legal action has faded away. http://www.forbes.com/sites/bobbymcmahon/2015/02/15/an-apples-to-apples-comparison-of-tv-rights-fees-paid-to-big-european-soccer-leagues/

Slyder:Make we leave these free to air people. Free To Air league(s). |
homesteady:I don’t know what you are talking about. In the EPL City and Chelsea were tied around new year 2015. Chelsea was crowned champions on May 3rd. We know the league there is an already winner before it kicks off. Others just participate. |
Debroslink: You keep saying EPL is about money and media. You would make sense if you could provide evidence that EPL pay its viewers, followers some followership allowance. You would make sense if you could provide evidence that EPL pay me or you for our Dstv subscription. If EPL pay Dstv to air matches free. Etc. The reverse is even the case. EPL matches are even the most expensive. This is to tell you how much people don't care to pay a fortune to watch real beautiful and attractive soccer Not your league you get easily on fee to air. |
raumdeuter:That is why EPL is special. Ronaldo scored 41 goals. The following season he was clipped. You cannot run plenty of goals season after season in the EPL for too long. How was Carzola a reject? We can as well call Suarez an EPL reject. We can call Ronaldo an EPL reject? You call Sanchez a reject. You call Yaya Toure a reject. Any big player who doesn't find space in either Barca and Madrid authomatically losses interest in Laliga. Same thing for any big player who cannot find space in Bayern Munich, the next thing is to look abroad. But in EPL, big players who cannot find a space in one of the top 5 clubs still finds four other clubs interesting. This is the difference. |
raumdeuter:Which bench Warmers? List the defenders Harzard dribbled. EPL is the best league. So says Suarez who is an Uruguan and currently plays in Laliga. The whole world cannot be wrong. EPL is the most entertaining league. Hence the large followership. |
raumdeuter:Did they win it? They are a Europa team. Fluke na Fluke. 3 EPL teams have won the UCL in the past 10 years. One of the teams played final 3 times. Two of the teams (each) played final twice within that period. We are not talking about flukes. |
raumdeuter:How was Ronaldo developing when he had already won a Ballon d'or? Sanchez scored in FA cup final against who? Chelsea? United? City? Bale did it against Barca. Also against Athletic Madrid in UCL final. We are talking about influence. One man show. Bale ran half the field to score. What an influence! |
Debroslink:Januzaj did not dribble past four defenders. Januzaj will still do better in Laliga. Ronaldo and Messi score 50 goals plus because its Laliga. A league where half of the teams are broke. How many does Messi score for Argentina? Bale single handedly finished Barca in the final. How many Spanish players have had such an influence in an FA cup final? He scored the winning goal in a UCL final. How many players from Spain have been able to do that for EPL teams? |
Debroslink:Name the 6 different club in Laliga that have played UCL final. After 1999 EPL did not fall. I dont get you. 3 EPL teams played semi final in 2009. chelsea were robbed, else it would have been another all English final. |
Debroslink:Athletico and Valencia. These are Europa cup teams. |
Debroslink:The quality of football suck? Man United, Livrerpool, Arsenal, Chelsea have played UCL finals many times in the past 10 years. Four different clubs. Ronaldo, Bale, Suarez are EPL products ruling Laliga. |
Debroslink:Suarez served suspension and became over weight when he resumed playing with the reserves. He was not fit for months even when he returned from suspension. CR7 scored less than 20 goals before he left EPL. He went to Laliga and stated scoring 50 goals. Hazard will score 30 in Laliga. He does too much for Chelsea and in the EPL, he gets weak even before he gets to Europe and national team. With time he will learn how to conserve himself for European games. He scored a magnificient goal against Barca. He will find the laliga easy. A league where in most matches you are virtually on holiday. |
Debroslink:If it weren't compectitive it wouldn't attract much followership. The football is beautiful to watch. It is entertaining. And football is about entertainment. Nigeria league is dead because it's not entertaining. Barca and Madrid wouldn't be as successful if they were to play in the EPL. Ask Falcao and Di Maria. After 5 matches, the players performance begins to diminish from strong games. |
raumdeuter:Your league is not interesting. Chikena. I tried to follow two years ago, boring boring. Suarez is already bored playing even in a more entertaining league than yours. What is football /sports if it is not for entrrtainment? EPL is the most entertaining that is why everyone is watching it. Hazard is one of the best footbalers in the world. Take it or leave it. If he were in Spain he would score 25 plus goals and create dozens of Assist. Look the way he went past Barca 's defenders. Was that Diego Maradona? Something he has not been able to do against QPR or Norwich. DDG is arguably the best keeper in the world. Suarez was in the EPL just yesterday. Di Maria is in the EPL. |
raumdeuter:The highlighted. How many clubs do these players play in? I know you wouldnt mind watching Bayern play against ants and cockroaches week in week out. The world gathers when Madrid plays Barca. After that, the party is over in Laliga. |
Make una leave Dayo. He dey deceive himself. I am sure Dayo knows the EPL more than Bundesliga. Such is the allure of the EPL. It`s possible he knows even the Championship more than the Bundesliga. Ukwu!!! ![]() Suarez is already missing the EPL. A league that when it wants to end in May, people will be crying. But Laliga and Bundesliga, people don tire since February. |
Some of our fear. Let's see how it goes. |
Football pundit Craig Burley believes Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is making a huge mistake by deploying Daley Blind as a centre-back. The former Chelsea midfielder went as far as to say that Van Gaal is on the verge of committing “footballsuicide” after confirming Blind will start in central defence against Tottenham on August 8. "Blind as a left-sided centre-back is just football suicide. He’s too weak, he’s got no positional sense, he’s not very strong in the air and he will be outmuscled." Blind played the majority of his matches in central midfield last season, before taking over from the injured Luke Shaw at left-back in the second half of the campaign. But due to Marcos Rojo’s recent passport issues, the 25-year-old will be tasked with stopping Tottenham’s Harry Kane in central defenceduring United’s Premier League opener. Odunharry:This is not an article. This is what the current world best striker from South America said about European Leagues. |
31 Jul 2015 01:00:42 Suarez: "I would like to retire at the club I love, Nacional," he said of his first professional club in an interview onESPN Deportes Radio. "But I also wantto return to Ajax someday."The MLS would not be a bad choice. Itcould happen one day. The US love of the game is growing a lot. People are filling the stadiums. "The Premier League is the best league in the world. But Barcelona are the best team."I do not consider myself one of the best players in the world but it is a pleasure to play in the best team."And we still have goals to fulfil. We want to become the first team to win consecutive Champions Leagues."We're very motivated this season. We are obliged to keep winning."Luis Enrique led Barca to a treble in his first season at the helm and Suarez says that the former midfield ace has an excellent working relationship with his players."The coach always makes the final decision but he is always open to our comments," the striker added. "I think we have to keep playing the same way next season." - goal. com ........................... From someone who has tasted both sides. |
Odunharry:At least he can guide our young ones for the next two years. Or they bring Rio Ferdinand to come coach these boys how to organise the defence. |
29/07/2015 14:34, Opinion: Is Januzaj a modern striker? ManUtd.com's Adam Marshall gives his view on howAdnan Januzajis emerging as a genuine option as a striker in Louis van Gaal's new-look United side...Adnan Januzaj looks a different ananimal lthis season. His decision to undergo extra work in Dubai with a fitness coach and colleague Luke Shaw has enabled him to hit the ground running for Manchester United out in America. From the first glance of him as a substitute in the win over Club America, the Belgium international had clearly changed body shape. He appeared stronger, more muscular and no long the willowy winger who could sometimes be bullied by bruising defenders willing to cross the line with their marking. As a supporter who has still not come to terms with seeing somebody other than Ryan Giggs in the no.11 shirt, it was as though this was another new man donning the jersey. Januzaj seems ready to thrive in the central role he craves, his enhanced physique enabling him to embrace the challenge with renewed confidence.Of course, operating as an attacker is nothing new to the 20-year-old. Reserves coach Warren Joyce used him in the position, teaching the youngster how to handle the hard knocks that inevitably accompany leading the line. One of his best performances during David Moyes' reign came as a striker during a 3-1 defeat at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge when he was still only 18. Forward Thinking It is now clear Louis van Gaal believes Januzaj can provide an option down the middle after enthusing about his cameo performanceagainst Barcelona at the weekend. "I have given him a chance in this position and you have tolook if he can do that or not," explained van Gaal. "But he has a lot of quality and, against Barcelona, he showed it for the first time. He was very good and was a threat as a striker in his 30 minutes. He always gives an option for midfielders and defenders. He scored awonderful goal and that is always important." Januzaj has made no secret about his ambition to perform in a no.10 role, one of three positions he has occupied in the International Champions Cup matches, and an ability to play anywhere along the front line will be a real boon if the manager adopts a fluid attacking formation. The no.9 position brings its own demands but the player said on Saturdaythat he "really likes it because it gets me closer to the goal". Speaking last season, Adnan explained how he is already accustomed to taking punishment from defenders because of his positive approach. "I do receive a lot of fouls but, okay, that's my game," he told ManUtd.com. "I take the kicks because I'm a dribbler and I like to go past people. So it's expected I will get a lot of free-kicks. I train hard all the time so I am used to getting the kicks."The hard work behind the scenes is starting to pay off. The desire to enhance his game and add more strings to his bow has become increasingly evident. "You can always improve by working on things in training," he said. "Your skill is just one example. To be honest, some of it comes naturally but, after training, for five or 10 minutes, I have been doing some crossing or practicing some skills by myself." Januzaj will need all the tricks in his locker to unhinge central defenders in the way he saw off Marc Bartra when scoring the clincher against Barcelona at Levi's Stadium. Even if he does add more brawn to his game, he will never be the Muscles from Brussels. Fleet of foot and equally as quick in his thinking, he could become a very modern centre-forward. No.10 or new-age no.9? His first senior goal may have been a header against Kitchee in a past tour game but he is not your archetypal no.9. The natural balance first noted by Sir Alex Ferguson can help him to strike straight through the heart of the opposition in a way mapped out for theman whose shirt he has adopted. As a 17-year-old of immense promise, Giggs was initially played off Mark Hughes in a role very different to the one where he would achieve legendary status.Whatever happens, Januzaj will retain the urge to run at people and, in his own words, make things happen. His clever feints and dummies, something he has been doing since the age of five when messing around with his parents and even teasing people in the street, are capable of tying even the nimbler centre-halves in knots. Certainly, a central position should help him to discover an end product on a regular basis and build his goals and assists tally. His managerobservedthe shot parried out by Costel Pantilimon for Wayne Rooney's second goal last season was the first time Adnan had set up a goal during his tenure. The display at the end of February against Sunderland, opponents for his extraordinary two-goal debut in 2013, was encouraging. Yet this was nothing in comparison to the way he dissected Barcelona's backline, admittedly one shorn of Gerard Pique six minutes afterJanuzaj's introduction, and staked an obvious claim for further appearances in attack.Van Gaal, like the fans, washeartenedby the forward's bold showing in Santa Clara. The challenge is clearly to replicate this sort of form on a regular basis and prove he is capable of filling any of the attacking slots in the manager's line-up. A 3-5-2 formation that did not ideally suit wingers for a spell last term was phased out and the system currently being deployed by theboss in the United States would seem tailor-made for direct attackers. Thingscould well be moving in Adnan's favourand it is now up to him to show he has the tools to come of age and consistently make his mark. |
