There is a defender I like so much in Athletic Madrid. That year they finished second in UCL, he caught my attention. Diego Godin. Does he still play well? |
Where exactly did Januzaj play against Barca? Is it the number 9 or number 10? I have seen conflicting reports since then. |
Are we still going to sell Evans and Rafael? |
All the talking points are the benefit of the preseason. Gaal has to go to work to review it all with last season EPL experience in mind. If there is a need to make adjustments to the team, then he should know what to do. |
The back will click. A few corections here and there. Some tactical talks on how to stick together to close the gaps. How to react to different situations. Look at this pics. This defender played a PSG striker on while everyone else kept the offside trap. This enabled PSG to split our defence. We were lucky to clear from goal line. In the 76th minutes, they find a big gap again to split our defence. There should be a good work before the season starts.

As for Gaal, I think he cannot differentiate between 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. Or he is lazy about it. The problem has to do with where he categorizes his AM. His DM,CM,AM are his middle three. the others are front three. That is what I can deduce from the write up posted above. You guys can take the pain to read it again. |
afrodoc2:First goal was not Jones fault. Blind is to blame. Pic 1. Jones returning from PSG final third. He was running back to position. See him at the edge of arc of the centre circle in PSG's half. . Ideally, Blind should be in the middle. Pic 2. Three seconds later he Jones finds out that Blind has left a huge gap in the middle. Jones was now in the edge of the arc of the Centre circle in our half. Meanwhile, Blind was marking no one. Was Blind scared of being exposed? Did he deliberately dodged his responsibility? Yes, Smalling can start. That doesn't bother me. Whoever plays. But with time our bakcline will strike an understanding. But Smalling and Jones were our best pair last season.

1. Our Centre backs (Jones and Blind) played too apart from each other. Centre backs are supposed to stay together always or almost all the time. I saw the two guys apart in highligh against Barca and the goals of PSG. 2. The four men at the back lack understanding. They didn't know how to play a same line offside trap. This actually was the reason we conceded the first goal. Contrary to what people think, it was not Jones fault but Shaw and Blind who kept two PSG players onside. At the end one is forced to ask who Blind was marking and why he left a big hole in the Middle while he knew the offside line was not drawn. 3. The pictures explain number 2 above. 4. Jones took his eyes off Ibrahimovic for the second PSG goal. Jones likes to anticipate a pass and intercept but he got this very wrong at the wrong place. May be it's a mistake and his lack of plenty matches in the position is taking a toll. Again, I think the two CBs were apart somewhat. Ibrahimovic wouldn't find such an easy space in Chelsea's back. 5. Generally, it was a match between a team in process and a team that has been together. This same team played 10 men against Chelsea at the Bridge and were able to score from two free headers. 6. Our back lines has to decide whether to play high or deep. Blind lacks speed, so it's better to play deep and right together like Terry and Cahil. May be if we saw Smalling and Blind, it would have been easier to draw the line.

lalasticlala: Do these women not have names? Are they faceless? |
Chelseafan1:I don’t see how Bale is a creative player. He is a great player, but not the one to open the opponent's defense every now and then. He will find a team parking bus hard to deal with. |
Who does Gaal want to sign that could possibly be on same level as the players he mentioned? Robben? |
This is a very long one. Full transcript of Gaal's interview. Here you will know his mind. Happy reading. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11763986/Manchester-United-manager-Louis-van-Gaal-on-chasing-Cristiano-Ronaldo-spending-big-and-that-awards-dinner.html |
Louis van Gaal still wants a star-quality creative player to add to his £80m summer investment, but has ruled out an Old Trafford return for Cristiano Ronaldo. Van Gaal said: “No, it’s not my Manchester United. Why? Because we have to look for more balance in the team and for more creativity,“ Chelsea have Hazard. He can always make goals, he can always make an action and decide a goal. Manchester City have Aguero, it’s the same type. Barcelona has Messi, Neymar and Suarez." We as Manchester United have to compete with these clubs. So we have to look also for that kind of players. Now we have Wayne, Mata, Depay, Young, Januzaj, Wilson, Herrera. So you can expect from Young, not that he is a Hazard. You have to compare. Young has had a fantastic season but he is not a Neymar and we have to compete with that kind of class.” United fans would love to see favourite Ronaldo back at the club but Van Gaal said: "That’s not possible because you have the club, Ronaldo and then you have Manchester United and how much United want to spend.United record signing Angel di Maria is on the vergeof joining PSG after failing to join Van Gaal’s squad in America as planned on Saturday.Club sources will not reveal whether Di Maria had permission not to fly or whether he has effectively gone AWOL. But Van Gaalwill want to spend the Di Maria cash on a Galactico signing.[Source: Mail. Telegraph, M.E.N, Star. Mirror, Sun]#MUFC |
Gaal: Ronaldo not one of our targets. |
elampiro:Everyone that quoted forgot the highlighted part. Una no just try. ![]() |
chrisley024:You should understand what I mean. All things being equal, he was not suppose to be on the bench. Otherwise he wouldnt have signed for us. We didn't pay British record for a player to sit on the bench. It's unfortunate he didn't participate in the preseason to claim his place as first choice. He probably look at the fact that he will have to wait for opportunity to get into the team. |
PietroRico:He would have stayed if he were guaranteed regular starting appearances. But we know that is not possible for now. I read too, Argentina national team coaches said something like Gaal treatment of Di Maria negatively affected the rythm of his game. However, if I were a world class footballer, I wonder what on earth would make me play in France when I have the opportunity of playing for a club as Manchester United in an exciting league as EPL. |
Anyway, if he leaves, it's a gain for Mata and Young. Gaal kind of made it clear from matches played so far that the wingers were not in competition with Di Pay. |
It's a sin to lose Nani and Di Maria in same transfer window. We should have kept Nani if we knew this was going to happen. These two guys are unique. But let's look at this very well. When Gaal was asked about Di Maria's possible transfer, he said it's a process. Was that a good response? I think the answer is no. He should have said something to suggest Di Maria was really wanted..... to remain at United. |
parrotibaba:There are some groups that have no real big team. I think the seading was done using FIFA ranking. |
Spain and Italy in same group for world cup qualifier. Portugal given easy ride. |
No Get the business first. Test the waters. Get it working before you decide about leaving your job. There are people who lost even much more money when they ventured into business for the first time. Some had to go look for jobs again. |
chrisley024:They are afraid. What if he doesn't hit that form? Even Di Maria is not too sure what to decide. What if he gets benched in United again. I think he has fallen in love with the club and its vision. |
^^^ PSG `we are following this case with great interest' |
More from Blanc. See the attached. Until transfer period is over before we can be sure. Or when Di Maria comes out to say categotically that he will not look at PSG's interest. The problem also has to do with guaranteeing first team football. Di Maria in form will mean Mata might have limited appearances.

....... The 27-year-old almost moved to PSG last summer before agreeing a move to United, but the French club were unable to afford him because of Financial Fair Play restrictions and the earlier £50milllion move for David Luiz.Di Maria has been given an extended holiday until 25 July after reaching the final of the Copa America with Argentina, which they lost on penalties to Chile. "We shall see," Van Gaal said when asked whether Di Maria would stay."In football, it is a process. It's a process for Di Maria and Man Utd. We shall see."But he is still a member of United and he said he will come out on July 25. PSG manager Laurent Blanc said last week when asked about a potential Di Maria transfer: "Yes. We have our priorities,” he said.“But to strengthen such a team you must target guys who are at big clubs and who arenot easy to prise away. That’s hardest for PSG.“Di Maria, he’s good. We have more freedom, but it remains a difficult project for us because we’re not alone in wanting him.” http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/angel-di-maria-to-psg-argentina-winger-wants-to-leave-manchester-united--but-first-must-submit-transfer-request-10401046.html |

How many times have we seen players said they are not moving. When summer comes and they see a reason to move, they will start saying it was always their dream to play for the new club. PSG said they want Di Maria. Gaal said it is a process. My guy, anything can happen. Di Maria first love was even PSG. |
SailorXY:Forget that thing. Things happen over night. If Di Maria come out to say it now, after all these stories of PSG interest, then I will know he is not going. |
SailorXY:This your interview story from May 1st no solve matter wey dey ground. That part Di Maria said he is not in United for just one season, I posted it on this thread many many pages back. |
Leyqute:I think it's true that there was something going on, but the parties couldn't reach an agreement. Which means the buying party has to indicate much serious interest for the deal to happen. I have not heard Gaal coming out categotically to say Di Maria, Di Gea are not for sale. It means if certain conditions are meant, he might just let it fly. |
SailorXY:When I reported Darmian, there was no quote from any 'people that matter'. Same with Mephis. Darmian was a rumour that started in Italy. Italian journalist. Twitter sef. You just know it when news or rumours look serious. Even those who said Gaal told Di Maria to hand in a transfer request. Can they bring any quote from 'people that matter'? I doubt. When I google that news, I did not see any quote. |
