timay: It seems you don't get what they are trying to say, or may be you are one of those that are too stubborn to accept a superior argument.
In case the former is the case, let me educate you again.
In our match against Tottenham, mourinho tactics of packing the bus didn't work because despite playing low block against us, we were still cutting them open at the back at will, recording a high shot on target, but our strikers weren't clinical enough.
In summary, we didn't win the match not because of mourinho tactics,( because from the stats and me watching the game, that tactics didn't work) but because our strikers were not clinical on the day. This is a vastly inferior argument than mine. United did not cut Spurs open any shit. Go and see Barca vs Chelsea and Barca vs Inter. This are tactics employed against a superior team. Missed chances are part of football, only when the opponent gain advantage that the tactics is failing then you fall to plan B. But United never gained advantage. Are you educated now? |

GloryIsaac: Everyone knows that good tactics can win a match.
What is being pointed out here is that Spurs draw with United was not down to Mourinho’s gameplan, rather bluffs from Rashford and Martial.
Today’s game proves that. Rashford missed two glorious chances, assuming Martial didn’t score a hat trick and United drew, will one say it’s because of Sheffield’s tactician?
Or the coach had time to study Man United style of play, that’s why Rashford was missing clear chances?
Any coach that has to rely on bluffs from opposing attackers to squeeze out a good result is simply having faith, not tactics. It was down to his game plan. Missed chances are part of football. Spurs reduced United to really no clear cut chance. If the tactics was weak, United would have scored after the missed chance as they did today |

raumdeuter: vs Cotedvoire, Nigeria was having more shots on goal same thing Ferguson vs Arsenal The tactics no one can understand is to deliberately allow your opponent to have numerous shots on your goal and plan with their attackers to be missing it like vs Tottenham Against a superior opponents, it is allowed. That is what we had in Spurs vs United, Barca vs Inter, Barca vs Chelsea |

Lana1: elampiro is in a world of his own. No need to drag argument too much with that bros How does this connect with the argument about Tottenham vs United?
Today's game is a different thing, same with Spurs Westham when Mourinho dominated possession in a different tactics.
In the time of Nigeria quest for world cup qualification and Tunidia 1994, Ivory Coast had the best midfield build up play in Africa. What Westerhof did was to wait for them at the back, then we we had the ball, we send a long pass to the strikers cutting off the midfield we were inferior.
Another tactics was Ferguson chocking the midfield against Arsenal and thereby preventing their build up play. So we hit them mostly on the counter.
These are tactics that not everyone can understand

raumdeuter: We are talking about shots on target, 1 vs 1 chances you are talking about possesion. Does possesion equals to goals? If you have 90% possesion and 2 shots on target but the team with 10% possesion have 9 shots on target. Its shots on target that make goals not possesion
Tactics is to increase your own chances and reduce your opponents chances
Any tactics that is making your opponent have shots on target regularly, having high percentage chances regularly is no tactic
e.g Arsenal played City last week City had 12 shots and Arsenal had 0. If Arsenal had scored from an own goal and won the game, that is not tactics but luck One vs one that was not clear. There will always be chances in a game. What we need is result. So if Messi did not score a penalty, did he not have 180 minutes to score. Even if he scored that penalty, they still lost |

raumdeuter: When you meet a superior team you plan is to reduce the number of chances and 1vs1 they get. If your tactics does not reduce their chances then that is a failed tactic.
If your tactics is to depend on Messi missing penalties, Rashford and Martial missing 1 vs 1 , that is a useless tactic The question is in two legged tie, the tactics worked. 180 minutes of football for Chelsea and Inter. If not for Dier, Spurs would have won. |

When Inter beat Barca in 2010, Barca had 78% possession. L Barca even scored first. But Inter responded and won 3-1. This tells you that even if a team parked a bus, they will change tactics in the course of the match if they are losing the tie.
In the return leg, Barca still had 78% possession but could not win against 10 men.
Tactics |

raumdeuter: You can also get the desired results by luck which is not your own making
If an opponent is getting more clear cut chances, facing your keeper and missing it that is not tactics, thats luck
Was it part of Mourinho tactics for Rashford to miscontrol the ball, to shoot at keeper, for Martial to shoot at keeper etc.
Anything that is making opponent to face your keeper 1vs1 multiple times is not tactics It is tactics. As long as the score is favourable, the pattern will remain. But if the opponent score you and gain advantage, you push for a goal like Chelsea tactics of 2012 UCL fixtur3s vs Barca Look at the stats below. Do you know that the team with the woeful stats won? Our match against Spurs, they didn't decide to take any thousand punches by allowing us those chances, we forced them open and have our selves to blame as we failed to finish them off. It was not on them, it was on us. Tactics is tactics. When you are up against a better team, you do not open you defense. How did Inter beat Barca? How did Chelsea beat Barca in the UCL semi final? raumdeuter: You tell me.
The purpose of tactics is to reduce your opponents scoring chances and increase yours
If your opponent has 10 glaring 1vs 1 chance and you have 3. Even if you win you can't claim its tactics. That is luck
If Man utd had more scoring chances than Spurs away then that tactics from Spurs failed unless part of the tactics is for Man utd to miss their clear chances Winning is not about chances created but about getting the desired result. If a boxer decides to take a thousand punches where they do not count but wait to hit a deadly up and cut to knock out his opponent, it is a tactics. |

Leyqute: What Elampuro is saying no gel at all.
In the first gif Rashford controlled the ball horibly. His instinct was to control and shoot. And he didn’t take Sanchez into account. Else he’d have controlled the ball away from him instead of into his path. What sort of foolish striker controls an aerial ball forward into the other of the opponent?
In the second video, there was more space for him to score. And get this- if he’d controlled the ball into the path of the defender he’d have lost the ball, deapite having more space.
Rashford’s immaturity cost us that goal. Simple. What happened to controlling the ball away from Sanchez and then cutting back to cause a penalty or to even score ?
Elampiro don’t bring that excuse abeg. That was a long ball. Sanchez was always going to recover based on his alertness. Even Berbatov will need a second to control that long ball and that was enough for Sanchez to cover 10 meters. Go and watch the much praised Bernatov control against City which he passed to Tevez, he did not control the long ball 100%. Rashford did well, if he met a sluggish defender he would have scored. |

Football is tactics. If United scored, the approach will change. But as long as the score remained what Mourinho wanted, his game plan remained. Just like when he played 10 men with Inter against Barca. As long as Barca did not score, Inter game plan stayed. Nearly cannot kill a bed

Yes Sanchez was fast to cover up in the first frame. But Rashford controlled the ball poorly. He could still have recovered tho but he didn't even try. He could have made himself big and put himself in between Sanchez and ball. Sanchez would have had to go through him to get the ball and na penalty be that. Either that or Rashford goes on to score(maybe ).
Point is Mourinho didn't analyse shít. So stop backing the rubbish he said. Our problem like so many other times this season is not playing with the ball but converting chances. We played well and carved Spurs open so many times but poor finishing let us down. I am still trying to see where there was a poor touch from Rashford. The defender read the situation well and obviosuly ran faster. If not for Dier,Mourinho won that match. You no now ball |

He said after the game: "We analyse United [before the game] but I don’t think it’s for us to speak about them. "‘I’ll just say that I think we gave them what I think they are not very good at, which was to given them the opportunity to have the ball and to play in organised attack. ‘I think they are much more dangerous in counter-attack situations. They have fast people in attack and they can be really dangerous, but we managed to control that in an amazing way. "‘I can even remember when the game was broken in the end where Marcus Rashford had a long ball [from Pogba] in the space and this kind of action but we controlled him very, very well. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1298582/Tottenham-news-Jose-Mourinho-Manchester-United-Premier-League-Paul-Pogba-Bruno-Fernandes/amp |

I saw a clip where it was analysed that Mourinho formed an hexagon around our midfield three of McTomany, Fred and Bruno which did not allow us to play. We were forced to go backwards. He had a perfect check for our wings should Maguire pass to the wings and may be Luke Shaw decided to run forward.
I said earlier that when a coach like Mourinho is given such a long time to prepare, he will hardly fail. Before the match he analysed our game and our players and he was right. Except that some people did not agree with him on Bruno. He seems to suggest that Bruno benefited from a good team in a good period. Meaning didn't see him as superb as others are making it to look. He mentioned Rashford, James and Martial ability to counter. Mostly Rashford. Mourinho is a bad guy |
