National Security is No Excuse for Disobeying the Orders of a Judge

The Buhari government has said through the minister of information, Lai Mohammed in an interview on The Osasu Show, that several court orders disobeyed “were in national security interest.”

“As a government, I will balance national security against human rights; and then I will take a decision. Because (when) there is security, there is stability, that the courts also exist.

“What I am saying (is) that the court has ruled but the court does not have the entire picture when it comes to national security,” Mohammed said.

Bewilderingly, the Buhari government continues to openly display a “God complex.”

What if former president Goodluck Jonathan had refused to handover to Buhari when he won the 2015 elections, with the excuse that the handover would constitute a risk to national security as supported by information only the government was privy to?

The actions and public defense of them by the Buhari government constitutes a grave danger to Nigeria and serious reason to worry. In 2019 in the event that another party wins Nigeria’s presidential elections, would the Buhari government that flouts court orders handover? Would this government not continue its disregard of the law under the excuse of “national security interests?”

The United States president Donald Trump is today appealing over-rulings of executive decisions on its proposed “Muslim ban” by the courts, yet though president Trump argues that the ban is in best national security interest, he does not go above the law. This is the A B C of democracy. No individual or government official is above the law. Acting above the law irreparably destroys the judicial system and is in itself an act that is a grave risk to national security. It is the law and courts that guarantee and protect the security of individuals and the State.

Lai Mohammed would have immediately been disbarred had he been a government official in the US and made such a statement.

We must commend Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), for being upright and advising the Buhari government to obey the law in regards to the courts’ decisions on Dasuki and Sheikh Zakzaky.

It is surprising and disheartening that Acting president, Professor and Attorney Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, is presiding over the affairs of the nation in a time like this and involved in the flouting of court orders in what constitutes potentially grave crimes against humanity.

Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Mrs Fatou Bensouda last week visited Nigeria and met with Acting president Yemi Osinbajo. She also met with representatives of, and alleged victims of Rome statute human right violations in Nigeria including pro-Biafran protesters and Islamic movement members who have all been reportedly involved in government massacres and mass burial coverup attempts. It beats the imagination that Pastor and Attorney Yemi Osinbajo who understands the legal and moral implications of the violations of the Buhari government continues along this most dangerous path that appears to be only in the interest of ruling party security.

The utterance, “if they violate again the dog and baboon will be soaked in the same blood,” comes to mind as the frustrations of citizens when they feel the government abuses processes. We are thankful that those violated under this administration have been of the peaceful kind and not in any way attempted to get anyone soaked in the same blood.

28 Years Death Anniversary of Imam Khomeini (ra)

On 3rd June, 1989, the great Revolutionary leader, Imam Ruhullah Khomeini (ra), passed away. Millions of Iranians attended his funeral ceremony and till today there is no funeral ceremony that has seen such mammoth crowd of mourning people. Before the glorious 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran was a "milking cow" of British imperialism then after the second World War the weakened Britain handed over its colonialist assets to the more stronger Americans. The Shah of Iran was to the Americans what the King of Saudi Arabia is to them today, a willing puppet to serve and protect the evil agendas of Western imperialism and Global Zionism at the world stage.

The glorious 1979 Islamic Revolution killed the "milking cow" and completely destroyed all is instruments and equipment of exploitation, looting and plunder of Iranian rich resources by the UK and US regimes. Today Iran is truly free and independent nation. But the West never forgive Iran for cutting off it's filthy hands from its rich resources. The West was angry about this development and high ranking US officials went to South Africa to caution Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela told them in one of his famous statements that "Your enemies will not be our enemies". He told the American officials that when you tagged us as "terrorists" the Iranians considered us as freedom fighters and provided us with funds.

One of the cardinal principle of the Late Imam Khomeini was his struggles against the three biggest evils that existed in the world today:Western imperialism, Global Zionism and murderous Wahhabi terrorism. Imam Khomeini declared that Western imperialism does not represent the Great Monotheist religion of Christianity. He also declared that murderous Zionism does not represent the Great Monotheist religion of Judaism. Imam Khomeini declared murderous Wahhabism as "an empty cult" in the service of Western imperialism and Global Zionism.

Sadly today there are brainwashed Africans who think Western imperialism represent Christianity. This is grossly wrong perception as the two are totally different. Recently I was shocked when I saw a news report in the Nigerian Vanguard Newspaper that stated: "$1trn stolen from Africa to Western countries in 50 years – UN". Excerpt from this news report states:

"The UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) says an estimated 50 billion dollars leaves the shore of the continent illicitly mostly to the Western countries, every year. Mr Adeyinka Adeyemi, a senior adviser at ECA, told our Correspondent in New York that illicit financial flow had serious negative development impacts on the continent. Adeyemi also said that at least one trillion dollars had left the continent illicitly over the last 50 years, saying the figures were arrived at after decades of research on the issue. The UN official said African countries did not need aid from developed countries if the illicit assets from the continent over the decades are repatriated. He, therefore, challenged the destination countries to hold their aids to African countries in exchange for the return of these illicit assets to their countries of origin, mainly from Africa."

Looting of the rich resources of Africa by Western imperialism today pose an existential threat to the continent. Africa is not poor as is widely assumed, Africa is being looted and plundered by the successors and progenies of the evil Western colonialists. African Francophone countries still pay huge "colonial tax" to France while their populace remain poor and impoverish. The West imposes corrupt leaders in African countries to facilitate their looting and plunder of huge African resources. Africans should learn from Iran, Africans should learn how Iranians cut off the filthy hands of Western imperialism from their country and freed their nation.

Movements towards Africans emancipation, liberation and true freedom need great leaders. But the West will not sit idle and watch these Movements grow and become successful. The West will use their African puppets to target those Movements and kill their leaders. This is the main reason why Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky of Nigeria was recently targeted by the Nigerian tyrant Buhari. More than one thousand of his followers were brutally slaughtered by heavily-armed Soldiers sent by President Buhari and they dumped the dead bodies of their victims in mass graves at night to bury the evidences.

The indicted but protected civilian killer commander

The preliminary report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry JCI has actually indicted the Nigerian Army for not only mass murdering hundreds of unarmed women, children and the aged but also for violating its rules of engagement and all known laws in mass burying their victims.

The Commandant of the 1 Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army at that time Major General Adeniyi Oyebade was directly the field commander of what could better be described as the Unarmed Civilians Extermination Mission in Zaria from 12th to 14th of December 2015 in which over 1000 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria IMN were brutally murdered.

In the terror laden operation for which the Army was proud that it displayed gallantry for murdering hundreds of unarmed women and children using all its available heavy weapons on them, the civilian killer commander proudly told the JCI that he was responsible.

The civilian killer commander displayed the peak of inhumanity where IMN members were burned alive, incessantly murdered at close range even while some of them came out and surrendered with their hands up and others were seeking refuge and hiding for days in soak away pits, the IMN property bombed using rocket propelled grenades, women breasts cut with rifle bayonets and punched with sharp objects in their private parts. Some babies were even torn apart with bayonets and thrown into blazing fire by men of the Nigerian Army under his command.

His men chanted anti-Shia slogans as they murdered IMN members as if they were a unit of a Wahhabi terror group or ISIS or Boko Haram. They went round killing the injured people and the medical workers treating them. Many doctors, nurses and first aid workers were brutally butchered by the men under the command of the civilian killer commander in contravention of all local and international known laws. The terror they displayed was such that the only difference between the army then and a conventional terrorist organization was the uniform they wore.

It was not surprising that the Kaduna state government in the name of State Security Council threw a send-off for the civilian killer commander at the Government House because he executed their plot. After the operation he cordoned off the affected areas and took away all bullets and bomb shells and also washed off blood stains and loaded heaps of corpses in trucks while the state government brought in machines to pull down all the bombed buildings to hide evidences.

They pulled down the buildings and packed away the rubbles to unknown locations while they searched round for corpses which they later in the night took to several mass graves locations all in a bid to hide their heinous crimes. The Army and some state officials mass buried the corpses of IMN members with some of them alive and begging to be killed.

The civilian killer commander was the first to use the deceptive term ‘Protective Custody’ which couldn’t make it through the court processes on Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, the IMN leader. He gathered the Wahhabi clerics for a conference to seek their support, bribed them as usual and assured them that he has finished with the Shiites. There and then they praised him and assured him of their support to kill fellow Muslims with who they don’t share the same ideas even though he is a Christian they detest due to intolerance. It was during one of such gatherings that he used the step-brother of the IMN leader Sani Yakubu as his joker to show the world that even a relation of Sheikh Zakzaky was pleased with his action. He also lied to newsmen that Sheikh Zakzaky was fine and would soon speak to the public but it never happened. They kept the IMN revered leader incommunicado for over 500 days now, not even his lawyers were allowed to see him.

They made all efforts to ensure that they hide the mass murder of over 1000 IMN members such that even the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) told the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that he only killed seven people to make his way through when the IMN members attempted killing him. He dramatically smiled at newsmen telling them that he survived it.

They hid the killing before the JCI until the report by the Amnesty International (AI) revealed to the world one of mass graves in which hundreds were mass buried at night by the soldiers to hide the killings. It was the state officials who had no choice after the AI had made everything viral than to reveal to the public that they buried 347 in a mass grave at Mando near Kaduna about 100 kilometers away from the scene of the mass murder.

Even as the JCI had indicted the Army in its preliminary report and reputable human rights organizations in the world that include the AI, Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Islamic Human Rights Commission of London (IHRC) have all called on the Nigerian government to come clean on the Zaria Massacre, the government protected the soldiers and is now even promoting them. None of them was arrested or questioned for killing innocent unarmed women, children and the aged.

It is such that even after the cropped up charges that include culpable homicide against some IMN members arrested at the wake of the massacre that is before the Kaduna State High Court, the soldiers have refused to appear before the court and the case is now getting to two years without any soldier appearing as a witness. The only time they were at the court they were not ducked and they hardly spent 10 minutes in the court room when they were allowed to go claiming that they had tight schedules.

Talking about other areas the killer commander had shown his gallantry one would understand the personality he is made of. What is even more painful is that the JCI had indicted the soldiers and asked them to be prosecuted for violating their rules of engagement but the government that instructed the genocide has refused to take any step towards that. Instead it is now promoting the killer machines as a way of rewarding them for murdering thousands of Shiites.

This is not talking about the crimes against humanity also committed on the people of Southern Kaduna and the Birnin Gwari axis in Kaduna state where innocent herdsmen have lost their cows in the name of cow rustling.

Definitely, this agent of the devil and civilian killer commander is one that the IMN will live to remember forever having murdered their relations and loved ones simply because they don’t share the same religious understanding with his commander in chief. *HOW SAUDI ARABIA PLAYED DONALD TRUMP*

This week’s bombing in Manchester, England, was another gruesome reminder that the threat from radical Islamist terrorism is ongoing. And President Trump’s journey to the Middle East illustrated yet again how the country central to the spread of this terrorism, Saudi Arabia, has managed to evade and deflect any responsibility for it. In fact, Trump has given Saudi Arabia a free pass and a free hand in the region.

The facts are well-known. For five decades, Saudi Arabia has spread its narrow, puritanical and intolerant version of Islam — originally practiced almost nowhere else — across the Muslim world. Osama bin Laden was Saudi, as were 15 of the 19 9/11 terrorists.

And we know, via a leaked email from former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, in recent years the Saudi government, along with Qatar, has been “providing clandestine financial and logistic support to [the Islamic State] and other radical Sunni groups in the region.” Saudi nationals make up the second-largest group of foreign fighters in the Islamic State and, by some accounts, the largest in the terrorist group’s Iraqi operations. The kingdom is in a tacit alliance with al-Qaeda in Yemen.

The Islamic State draws its beliefs from Saudi Arabia’s Wahhabi version of Islam. As the former imam of the kingdom’s Grand Mosque said last year, the Islamic State “exploited our own principles, that can be found in our books. . . . We follow the same thought but apply it in a refined way.” Until the Islamic State could write its own textbooks for its schools, it adopted the Saudi curriculum as its own.

Saudi money is now transforming European Islam. Leaked German intelligence reports show that charities “closely connected with government offices” of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait are funding mosques, schools and imams to disseminate a fundamentalist, intolerant version of Islam throughout Germany.

In Kosovo, the New York Times’ Carlotta Gall describes the process by which a 500-year-old tradition of moderate Islam is being destroyed. “From their bases, the Saudi-trained imams propagated Wahhabism’s tenets: the supremacy of Shariah law as well as ideas of violent jihad and takfirism, which authorizes the killing of Muslims considered heretics for not following its interpretation of Islam. . . . Charitable assistance often had conditions attached. Families were given monthly stipends on the condition that they attended sermons in the mosque and that women and girls wore the veil.”

Saudi Arabia’s government has begun to slow many of its most egregious practices. It is now being run, de facto, by a young, intelligent reformer, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who appears to be refreshingly pragmatic, in the style of Dubai’s visionary leader, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. But so far the Saudi reforms have mostly translated into better economic policy for the kingdom, not a break with its powerful religious establishment.

Trump’s speech on Islam was nuanced and showed empathy for the Muslim victims of jihadist terrorism (who make upas much as 95 percent of the total, by one estimate). He seemed to zero in on the problem when he said, “No discussion of stamping out this threat would be complete without mentioning the government that gives terrorists . . . safe harbor, financial backing and the social standing needed for recruitment.”

But Trump was talking not of his host, Saudi Arabia, but rather of Iran. Now, to be clear, Iran is a destabilizing force in the Middle East and supports some very bad actors. But it is wildly inaccurate to describe it as the source of jihadist terror. According to an analysis of the Global Terrorism Database by Leif Wenar of King’s College London, more than 94 percent of deaths caused by Islamic terrorism since 2001 were perpetrated by the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and other Sunni jihadists. Iran is fighting those groups, not fueling them. Almost every terrorist attack in the West has had some connection to Saudi Arabia. Virtually none has been linked to Iran.

Trump has adopted the Saudi line on terrorism, which deflects any blame from the kingdom and redirects it toward Iran. The Saudis showered Trump’s inexperienced negotiators with attention, arms deals and donations to a World Bank fund that Ivanka Trump is championing. (Candidate Trump wrote in a Facebook post in 2016, “Saudi Arabia and many of the countries that gave vast amounts of money to the Clinton Foundation want women as slaves and to kill gays. Hillary must return all money from such countries!”) In short, the Saudis played Trump. (Jamie Tarabay makes the same point.)

The United States has now signed up for Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy — a relentless series of battles against Shiites and their allies throughout the Middle East. That will enmesh Washington in a never-ending sectarian struggle, fuel regional instability and complicate its ties with countries such as Iraq that want good relations with both sides. But most important, it will do nothing to address the direct and ongoing threat to Americans — jihadist terrorism. I thought that Trump’s foreign policy was going to put America first, not Saudi Arabia.

The next assignment the imperialist masters of President Buhari gave him was to kill the Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, disperse the peaceful Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and kill the leading lights of the Movement. On 12th-14th December, 2015 President Buhari sent the Nigerian Army and they brutally slaughtered 1000+ innocent and defenseless Nigerians and wickedly dumped their dead bodies in mass graves at night to bury the evidences. The savage Wahhabi king of Saudi Arabia who is the front of this evil imperialist agenda called President Buhari on phone four days later after that inhuman massacre to celebrate the monumental savage, murderous barbarism and genocide of innocent Nigerians.

President Buhari's orgy of brutal killings and massacres of innocent Nigerians did not stop with the peaceful Shia community, the Christians of Northern Nigeria were targeted by murderous Herdsmen paid by President Buhari and his lap dog Governor of Kaduna state. Hundreds of Northern Christians were brutally slaughtered by these murderous terrorists while President Buhari refused to sent security forces to protect them, he sent the security forces to slaughter Shiites. President Buhari is an avowed enemy of Islam and Northern Nigeria with his genocidal actions. A responsible leader like the great Sardauna unite the people and not divide them. Sheikh Zakzaky: The mischief of protective custody

Everyone that was abreast with the occurrence in the Zaria pogrom was shocked by the claims of the Presidency through the spokesman Garba Shehu that they are keeping the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky for his safety and with his consent.
This is a shameless claim they are mentioning to the world in which everyone is aware that the IMN leader is being kept incommunicado and not even his lawyers are allowed to see him.
Yes it is a concocted lie but not without a reason most especially as their plot of killing the IMN leader, dispersing his followers and banning his Movement are yet to be achieved as directed by their masters in US, Israel and Saudi Arabia.
So far they are yet to receive a nod from them to release the IMN leader while they have also failed in their plot of killing the IMN leader, dispersing the Movement and outlawing it.
They have now turned into executive liars to save their heads from shame. How could the persons that wanted to kill you and had exterminated part of your family that include three of your promising sons, your elder sister and nephew both of who they burned alive, killed almost a thousand of your followers and buried them in mass graves some of them alive and demolished your religious centers and residence and yet shamelessly come out to claim that they are protecting you.
What kind of protection are they giving you when they have shot you severally with the intention of killing you such that you have lost one eye as a result and they have also shot your wife severally in the abdomen after brutally killed your sons in your presence? This is ridiculous.
If there is anybody that is a threat to the life of Sheikh Zakzaky, it is one of those that have been hunting his life and those of his followers that include President Buhari, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, Nasir El-Rufai, Boko Haram, US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Wahhabi/Salafi sectarians. All these belong to the same camp and are working for one person.
The vivid logic behind their claim of protecting the IMN leader is nothing but the truth that they want to propagate the lies enough before they release him so that when they release him they will then assassinate him and claim that they said it. It is a mischief and a hypocrisy they are depicting. If they have their way they would kill him while he is still with them.
It is clear just as it has been that they are guilty of whatever may happen to Sheikh Zakzaky because they are the ones that have shown interest in his life and the lives of his followers. They have mentioned this claim of protective custody in court but have not been able to defend it and now they are using it as a joker to the public.

Middle East Christians Facing Existential Threat:

This morning when I opened my Twitter Handle the first news link that caught my attention was "Gunmen kill 23 Coptic Christians in Egypt" from "Times of India" Twitter Handle. I felt very sad that innocent Africans were brutally slaughtered by bloodthirsty Wahhabi savages in the name of Islam and Jihad.

The news report stated:

"Gunmen on Friday opened fire on a bus carrying Coptic Christians in southern Egypt, killing at least 23 people. The bus was heading to Anba Samuel monastery in the Minya Governorate, 250km south of Cairo. Twenty-three Christians were killed and twenty five others injured, according to the ministry of health.

Security forces were searching for the attackers. The ambulances rushed to the place of the incident to transfer injured to hospitals. There have been a number of attacks on Copts in the country in recent months claimed by Islamic State (IS) militants. Two suicide bombings targeting churches in Tanta and Alexandria on April 9 left at least 46 people dead."

Sadly today the Christian community in Middle East countries face existential threat from bloodthirsty Wahhabi terrorists who were brainwashed to think that killing innocent Christian civilians is serving the cause of Islam. Egypt has the largest concentration of Christians in the Middle East then Lebanon. The evil cult of Wahhabism propagate hateful preaching against Christians and other non-Muslims but the leaders of Wahhabism are puppets of Western imperialism as can be seen in the recent visit of US President Trump to Saudi Arabia. Northern Nigeria enjoyed excellent religious harmony and peaceful coexistence before the infiltration of Wahhabism. When Wahhabism arrived in Northern Nigeria in the mid-70s then senseless killings, intolerance and hate took over.

Most African Christians think that Christianity originated from Europe. The pure & Holy Jesus (as) did not exist in Paris, London or Berlin. Jesus (as) existed in #Palestine & South #Lebanon in the Middle East. There is a #Christian town in #Syria that today speak the same language that Jesus spoke. There are Churches in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq & Egypt that are more than 2000 years. First followers of Jesus are found in Middle East

Our African Christian brothers and sisters should understand that real Christians are found in #Palestine, #Syria, #Iraq, #Lebanon & #Iran. The evil, bloodthirsty, genocidal & plunder-enabled Christians of Europe & the West do not represent the great religion of #Christianity. The real Christians of love, compassion and tolerance are found in the Middle East who are unfortunately the target of murderous Wahhabi terrorism backed by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the West. The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia once called for he destruction of Churches in the Middle East.

In Nigeria today the best example of tolerance to Christianity among followers of Islam is the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) under the leadership of His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. The IMN is the only Muslim group in Nigeria that invite Christians to all its programs and activities to enhance mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. IMN officials also attend Christian programs and activities if invited. But sadly Sheikh Zakzaky is a victim of brutal assassination attempts by successive Nigerian governments due to his huge anti-imperialism and anti-Zionism credentials. The present Nigerian government of President Buhari brutally slaughtered 1000+ peaceful followers of Sheikh Zakzaky in December 2015 and wickedly dumped their dead bodies in mass graves at night to bury the evidences.

On a final note, Muslim clerics and leaders have a huge responsibility to defeat murderous Wahhabi terrorism that today pose existential threat to Christians in the Middle East. The existence of Middle East Christians pre-date the advent of Islam and they are living peaceful will all the Muslim communities through out history. Why these brutal and inhuman attacks now? Muslim youths should be bombarded with this famous of Imam Ali (as): "People are either your brothers in faith or your equal in humanity."

The Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu has stated on Tuesday while addressing State House correspondents on the success made by Muhammadu Buhari administration since coming to power in 2015 that the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is still in detention for his own safety.

He claimed that the government was fearful of breakdown of law and order if the IMN leader was allowed to go home claiming that government has responsibility to ensure his safety.

The presidential spokesman also claiĥmed that Sheikh Zakzaky is not in a prison type detention claiming that he is in company of his wife and children voluntarily.

The claim that Sheikh Zakzaky is being detained for his safety is one of the usual shameless lies fed to the public by this Buhari led administration. The IMN leader is being held by the government as a way of dowsing down the tension they have generated with the Zaria massacre where they committed crimes against humanity.

It was the Nigerian Army that attacked the IMN members and killed about 1000 of them in cold blood including women and children, burning some alive, cutting the breasts of women with bayonets and punching them on the private parts with sharp objects.

The same Nigerian army used heavy weapons on unarmed civilians like Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) and Automatic Machine Guns in the attack without any provocation.

They attempted to hide the heinous crime by taking the corpses about 100km away from the scene of the massacre to bury them in mass graves at night only for their Kaduna government partners to reveal one of the mass graves in which they buried 347 IMN members some of who were buried alive.

It was the same army that set the residence of the IMN leader ablaze and killed three of his young sons ruthlessly while the IMN leader was shot severally with the intention of assassinating him. His wife was also shot severally by the Nigerian army while his elder sister and nephew were burned alive.

The IMN leader was then abducted and taken to Abuja where he has been for over 500 days now without any charges at all in contravention of the Nigerian Constitution.

Everyone across the world is aware that the IMN leader was attacked by the Nigerian Army and has been in illegal detention thereafter, where then do the lies emerged that he is being willfully protected?

It is clear that the revered IMN leader’s life was threatened by the Muhammadu Buhari’s regime when it attempted to kill him, disperse his followers and ban the Movement.

The IMN leader has been kept incommunicado such that not even his lawyers were allowed to see him and that was how he won his case when he challenged his illegal detention before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

This same lie was presented before the court by the Nigerian government claiming the IMN leader was kept in protective custody with his own consent to which the judge threatened asking them to produce him before the court to confirm it. The government lawyers systematically withdrew that claim to avoid bringing him to court so that nobody could hear from him.

From this account and many more, if there was any threat to the life of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, such a threat is the Muhammadu Buhari regime that clampdown on the IMN killing his children and followers and destroying their property.

If the government was serious why wasn’t any soldier arrested and tried for mass murdering innocent unarmed civilians? Why is the government pretending not to see the series of attacks that followed the Zaria massacre in which several people were murdered while it remained mute?

Why is the Buhari regime refusing to obey court judgment by releasing the IMN leader, providing a house for him in any state of his choice and paying him damages? Are all these part of saving his life? Let them prove this to the world by simply allowing the IMN leader address the press to confirm their claim.

You can’t attack him and his wife, kill three of his children and almost a thousand of his followers, demolish his Islamic center, destroy his mother’s tomb and burn down his residence and claim that you are protecting him. This is insane. If your claim that government has responsibility to ensure the IMN leader’s safety why then did you attempt eliminating him?

*Contemptuous Justification of Illegal Detention*

In a reckless demonstration of official impunity Mr. Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Mohammadu Buhari  on Media and Publicity   purportedly issued a statement yesterday on behalf of the Presidency  to justify the illegal detention of Sheikh Ibraheem Elzakzaky and his wife, Hajia Ibraheema Elzakzaky. In the incendiary statement Mr. Shehu claimed that the valid and subsisting order of the federal high court made on December 2, 2016 would not be obeyed by the federal government on the dubious ground that the Sheikh is in "protective custody" while the justification for holding the wife is that he is taking good care of her husband in the illegal custody. According to Mr. Shehu, "ElZakzaky is held for his own good. If you set him free, what do you think will happen on the streets? He is not in a typical prison condition. He has the company of his wife and children. They can leave if they want. There is overall public good weighing against his release."

 In the checkered history of Nigeria this is the first time that a democratically elected government has openly justified the detention of any citizen in defiance of a valid and subsisting order of a competent court of law.  Even under the neo-tarzanist Buhari/Idiagbon military junta , court orders which directed that victims of the obnoxious  Detention of Persons Decree No 2 of 1984 be released from illegal custody were complied with. But under a democratic government  Mr. Shehu wants Nigerians to believe that Elzakzakys are held in "protective custody" after the federal high court had declared such detention illegal and unconstitutional. Or has  Mr. Shehu suddenly become so power drunk to the extent that he can conveniently  set aside the judgment of the federal high court?

 Before now, the "Presidency" had claimed that the couple could not be released on the nebulous ground that they constituted a threat to national  security. When reminded that the federal high court has dismissed such unsubstantiated allegation Mr. Shehu has turned round to say that "ElZakzaky is held for his own good." Is Mr. Shehu not aware that Elzakzaky has lost one of his eyes in the dungeon of the State Security Service and may lose the other eye due to denial of urgent medical treatment? Why has his request to travel abroad for medical attention at his own expense been refused by the federal government?

Since neither President Mohammadu Buhari nor Acting President Yemi Osinbajo could have authorized the contemptuous statement issued on behalf of the Presidency Mr. Shehu Garba should be called to order and restrained from further exposing the Federal Republic of Nigeria to ridicule before the comity of civilized nations. However, since the federal government continues to proclaim loudly that it operates under the rule of law it cannot be operated to treat court orders with disdain. To that extent, Elzakzaky and his wife must be released from the illegal custody of the State Security Service since the federal high court has held dismissed the official claim that they are held in "protective custody."

In the same statement, Mr. Shehu said that the federal government would not release Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd) from detention because there are several cases against him that he must answer to. But why has the same government that charged Col Dasuki with criminal diversion of public funds and reasonable felony frustrated his trial by refusing  to take him to court? The reason adduced for detaining Col Dasuki is highly contemptuous as the three Nigerian courts trying him have admitted him to bail. Furthermore, the Court of Justice of the Community Court of Justice (Ecowas)  has directed the federal government to comply with the orders of its national courts  which have admitted him to bail. Since no higher court has quashed the bail of the former NSA the arrogant statement of Mr.Shehu on the matter is the height of official impunity in a democratic society.

In the light of the foregoing i hereby reiterate the call for the immediate and unconditional release of the Elzakzaky from illegal custody in strict compliance with the judgment of the federal high court. At the same time, Col Dasuki should be released on bail and be allowed to stand his trial in the federal high court and the high court of the federsl capital territory. A government which is desirous to secure conviction  of persons charged with criminal offences cannot treat the orders of the same court with disdain and impunity.
