ZARIA MASSACRE SURVIVOR WITH A HEART TOUCHING STORY

.....We have got a safe place in the house of Malam Haruna Abbas, suddenly comes the Nigerian military and set the whole house to fire, I had late pregnancy by then and at the same time I'm with my two and a half (2`1/2) years old son.

Full of agony, we continue to throw our children downstairs despite that they are too young and we start to ensue them for the fear of not to be burned or suffocated from the already ablazed house.

Afterwards, I took my son and cross to a house nearby, unfortunately, the military come to the house and open fire mercilessly on us. My son, Alhassan; was resting on my shoulder, then I suddenly heard him yelled, when I set my eyes on him, I was shocked to saw him been shot twice, one on his thigh and the other on his stomach...!

I hugged him and wept uncontrollably looking for someone to help me. But alas! They killed all the males they got in the house and left only women. In that condition of anguish, they started to beat us mercilessly, and they later brought us out of the house and tied us with our Hijabs (which they seized and teared from us).

I remained helpless starring at the blood of my beloved son, Alhassan; flowing on the ground. Despite that I was in difficult and torment condition, I don't care much on my condition, my priority then was to save the life of the apple of my eyes.

Those people were infact out of mercy, they throw Alhassan to me, I hugged him and wept uncontrollably. They later lead us to "Banadeen street" beating us and molesting us. Alhassan's blood was still flowing when we were taken to barrack. I was among those who will be taken to hospital for immediate treatment due to my worse condition and my son's worst condition.

On our way, Alhassan asked wether if I can afford to give him some water, and I gave him; he further asked me to forgive him and he also forgave me in return. Not long afterward, my dear and beloved son, Alhassan; depart this life....!!!!!!

I hugged him tightly and wept as I never did before. On our arrival at the hospital, what the military did to me is obviously what I can never ever forget in my life; they forcefully seized the holy dead body of Alhassan from me and throw it on their vehicle which was full of our brothers' dead bodies.

That was the time I saw him last...tears of pain rolled down my cheeks...... But when I recalled that it was on the path of Allah, I feel at ease and joyful.

One month after the incidence, I gave birth to a baby boy which I replaced my beloved Alhassan....

*Medical Immunity (Neutrality) and its Violation against Islamic Movement in Nigeria Medical Team Members (ISMA Medical Care Initiative) by Nigerian Security Operatives on 12-14th December, 2015.*

Medical Immunity or Neutrality refers to a principle of non-interference with medical services and the health care givers in times of armed conflict and civil unrest. Health personnel must be allowed to care for the sick and wounded, and soldiers must receive care regardless of their country of origin or political affiliations. All parties must refrain from attacking and misusing medical facilities, transport, and personnel. Concepts comprising the principles of medical neutrality are derived from international human rights law, medical ethics and humanitarian law. Medical neutrality may be thought of as a kind of social contract that obligates societies to protect medical personnel in both times of war and peace, and obligates medical personnel to treat all individuals regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or political affiliation. Violations of medical neutrality constitute crimes outlined in the Geneva Conventions.
*ORIGIN/HISTORICAL BACKGROUND*
In Islam, human dignity has being placed on a high status due to its unquantifiable value. An armed soldier when surrendered his weapon has immunity against aggressions to talk less of health personnel and as well un-armed. In the same vein, health personnel must treat all clients even if from enemy side for life saving. Therefore, the principle of medical neutrality has roots in many social traditions.
- The Hippocratic Oath, which requires health personnel to practice medicine ethically, dates back to the fifth century.
- The idea of ‘do no harm’ (non-maleficence) has histories in “Jewish and Islamic, as well as Chinese and Indian medicine”
- Geneva Conventions (the core of international humanitarian law, supported and protected by the International Committee of the Red Cross):
The First Geneva Convention was written by Henri Dunant in response to seeing such the difficulty of treating wounded soldiers at the Battle of Solferino.
1) The first and the following Geneva Conventions created the Red Cross, outline the protections of medical personnel in times of war, codify the protections of citizens, soldiers, medical personnel, etc.
2) The First Geneva Convention states that there should be no “obstacle to the humanitarian activities” and that wounded and sick “shall be respected and protected in all circumstances.”
3) Article 19 demands that medical units, i.e. hospitals and mobile medical facilities, may in no circumstances be attacked.
4) The Declaration of Geneva was created as an amendment to the Hippocratic Oath in 1948, a response to the human experimentation on Nazi prisoners.
Let us come to the situation here in Nigeria during the so-called ‘democratic dispensation’ during President Muhammadu Buhari. Democratic dispensation is meant to give equal right to all citizens regardless of socioeconomic status, political/religious affiliations, and race e.t.c. But to the dismay of IMN, its members were attack in broad daylight without any prior provocation to the Nigerian military personnel. Later, IMN came to realize the incident to be a pre-planned agenda to please the West, USA, Israel and Saudi Arabia under watch-dog of the ailing Nigerian president. Look at the five items above and see whether one has not been violated by the Nigerian state against its citizens.
The second item talked of protection to medical personnel and all citizens in times of war and violence. There was no any war between IMN and Nigerian security operatives, rather an all-out subdue and extermination of innocent Nigerian tax payers by those responsible to protect them. Nigerian army violated the rights of IMN members on 12-14th December, 2015 without sparing anybody including medical personnel present at the scene to assist the wounded persons.
They did not spare the dignity and honour of the wounded IMN members at Hussainiyya, Gyallesu and Darur-Rahma all in Zaria in the aforementioned days. Their slogan was ‘whoever you see with hand-gloves shoot him is their doctor’. That was how they assassinated our medical personnel during the three days of crackdown on human rights and dignity. That was how they killed and mutilated medical doctors, nurses, community health officers, medical laboratory scientists and first-aiders e.t.c.
Article 19 of Geneva Convention on Medical Immunity prohibits attack on medical facilities such as hospitals and ambulances and anything serving as their improvise. They attacked our ambulances at Husainiyya and assassinated some medical personnel there example of whom was Abubakar Naira. While his friend Aminu was arrested now in Kaduna Central Prison. Malam Awwal Hanwa, laboratory scientist was among those battered and imprisoned for almost 14 months. There were two camps were first-aid treatment was given to the wounded persons and both places were attacked and destroyed by armed men form the SSS and Nigerian army.
When the Declaration of Geneva was created as an amendment to the Hippocratic Oath in 1948, a response to the human experimentation on Nazi prisoners, Nigerian army killed medical personnel in Gyallesu and Husainiyya on cold blood engagement and mostly at close range. Some were burnt alive and some wounded personnel were exterminated by shooting on the head and heart location. And some medical personnel could be among those buried alive with injuries that can be revitalized when given prompt care.
Where is Dr. Mustapha Sa’id a medical consultant, a resident of Gyallesu, Zaria and Alzakzaky’s medical doctor? What of Chief Nursing Officer, Garba Ishaq; the Incharge of main theater Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano? Tell us the where about of retired Community Health Officer, Malam Ayuba Ibrahim also from Kano. They were all in Gyallesu helping the injured persons till 13th December, 2015 when Nigerian army silenced them. ISMA Medical Care Initiatives wants to know their graves if among the deceased and how they were extra-judicially killed. If they remain alive and in your custody, then what crime qualified them to be treated the way you are treating them? And in case you burn them alive, give us the ashes as it deserve our respect. And IMN in general and ISMA Medical Care Initiative in particular is surprise with your conduct against the Geneva Convention on Medical Immunity. This is because IMN expected compliance with rule of law in this regime as the second citizen of the Federation is a lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as well a Professor in same field. Now same person is the Acting President with full capacity to run the government according to the provisions of the constitution. *IMN and ISMA Medical Care Initiatives* expect justice to be done on this issue of violating our immunity against of forms of maltreatment we suffered from 12-14th December, 2015.

Recent media reports have shown that a new report has emanated from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to President Muhammadu Buhari declaring some groups including the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) as threats to national security.
The said classified document was titled ‘2016 Annual Threat Assessment’ and was an analysis by a created multi-agency and multi-disciplinary organization called the Intelligence Fusion Center (IFC). The activities of the IFC include analyzing information from different sources and agencies with respect to threat to the country. It then integrates all information gathered by different security agencies into a single intelligence product.
Some of the parameters used in determining the organizations that constitute threats to the security of the nation include intent and capability.

What is of concern is how the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) led by Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky made the list as it is clear that the Movement does not in any way share the same characteristics with the other groups that have made the list.
Firstly, the IMN is simply a minority religious group in Nigeria that is inclined to the Shia ideas of Islamic religion, the IMN is not armed or violent in its activities, the IMN does not have any records of attacking or posing any form of threats to anybody at any time in its forty years of existence, the IMN is not an insurgent and is transparent in its activities and owns worship centers, medical facilities, over 300 schools, news media, various organizational fora, Property, millions of membership from all strata of life and is peaceful in all its dispensations. Its activities include peace promotion among adherents of various religions and sects as well as encouraging fairness and justice to all irrespective of tribe, region, section or religion. It has had records of being the highest blood donors for several years in the country.
More so, with all dirty records of religious intolerance and crises in the north of Nigeria especially, the IMN has never been identified in any of such as do other religious groups that spread hate speeches in their worship places and incite people into violence.
One is left to wonder how such a group would make the same list with terror organizations like Boko Haram and ISIS recruiting cells. More so, what form of serious intelligence would declare Bokko Haram and ISIS as a security threat and leave out organizations that produce and breed the Boko Haram and ISIS. These terror groups are offshoot of the Wahhabi/Salafi organizations sponsored by Saudi Arabia like the Izala. They are known to have killed over 10,000 people in Nigeria including Shiites in the last few years.

More so in all their attacks on mosques it is clear that they have never bombed any Wahabi/Salafi Mosque before. All their attacks were centered on non-Wahhabi/Salafist and Shiites. The Maulud attack on the Tijjaniyya Sufi order in Kaduna where hundreds were killed, the attack on Friday mosque in Kano where hundreds were also killed, the attack on the Shia Arbaeen trek where tens were killed are all examples of Boko Haram attacks on Muslims but not on their Wahhabi/Salafi brothers.
Definitely this IFC intelligence report only raises suspicions because it looks as if those who prepared it were not actually basing it on practical facts and information but on certain sentiments and inclinations.
Everyone is aware that highly reputable Human Rights organizations like Amnesty International (AI) and Human Rights Watch (HRW) have indicted the Nigerian government of human rights abuses, extra-judicial killings and impunity. They have at various times condemned the use of excessive force by the Nigerian Army on unarmed civilians especially what they did on the IMN in Zaria in December 2015.

The Nigerian army during the attack displayed all forms or even worse of terrorism in the way it clampdown on innocent and unarmed IMN members using a flimsy pretext. Apart from being heavily armed, they were chanting anti-Shia slogans as if the army is a Sunni terror organization, they killed women and children in a fierce killing spree, they burned people alive both young and the aged, they demolished and bombed civilian enclaves with ease as there was no form of defense or retaliation whatsoever from their opponents who were unarmed for over 36 hours. All the opponents of the Army were doing during the attack was striving to dock and hide while those who surrendered from among them were simply shot dead. Afterwards they buried all their victims numbering over a thousand, both dead and living in secret mass graves.

This has attracted attention from a lot of humanitarian quarters across the globe with even the International Criminal Court (ICC) announcing its intention to run a preliminary investigation into what it sees as crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Nigerian government. Similarly, several reports have been presented on the same matter before the United Nations Human Rights Council by various concerned groups to which there was once a response by the Nigerian External Affairs Department seeking to deny the accusations. The Nigerian Government’s human rights records have woefully deteriorated since the inception of this regime.
More so, the government had identified itself with defiance to judgments and court orders by the judiciary. To even show that its defiance is based on impunity and disrespect to judiciary and not the claimed corruption in the judiciary, it even disobeyed orders from the ECOWAS Court.

Shamelessly, everybody has seen in the news how the Nigerian Army insulted the Amnesty International, how hoodlums were sponsored to attack the Abuja office of the Amnesty, how the government is joining other countries to accuse the ICC of bias against African countries and how the Nigerian government is violating the Nigerian Constitution and detaining innocent people incommunicado like the IMN leader Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky without any forms of charges or crimes.
It is against all these that the government seems to be establishing the IFC so as to have a point of ‘padding’ intelligence report. They could use the IFC to indict anybody at will or justify crimes committed by the state with the claims that they were intelligence reports.

The Zaria massacre for instance is seen as an act of state sponsored terrorism planned with the intention of killing the Shiite leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, banning Shiism and dispersing its members simply because the President and his men are all Sunni-Wahhabi inclined in religion. They unleashed terror on the IMN using state machinery because they are in power. This was even noticed by the High Court Judge, Justice Kolawole in his judgment for the release of the IMN leader from illegal detention, who described it as a Sunni majority in power suppressing a Shiite minority.
Judging by these facts the intelligence report by the IFC will fail any integrity test by declaring IMN as a security threat to Nigeria. It is simply seen to be providing defense frontiers for crimes committed against Nigerian citizens by the government and not intelligence report. All independent, diligent, reputable and highly respected organizations and groups have declared IMN as a peaceful and non-violent organization that has set a benchmark in seeking redress through most peaceful means even after being victims of terror attacks by the government.

If the Islamic Movement in Nigeria is a security threat to the nation the entire Zaria massacre story would be a different thing entirely. Everyone is watching how the Nigerian government is engaging on persistent come-kill-and-go operations on the IMN members killing them at will, demolishing their schools and centers, imprisoning their members on cropped up charges and yet they remained peaceful, focused and resolute.

Hence, the IMN is not a security threat to the Nigerian nation as wrongly depicted by the IFC report. It is simply a victim of terror and intimidation by some Wahhabi sectarian bigots using government machinery. The government has committed crimes against humanity in contravention of all known laws including the Rome Statute and the Geneva Convention. Some of those involved in perpetrating the crime and are potential candidates at The Hague are the ones using the IFC to justify their crimes and this as all the other lies, propaganda and blackmail will also not work. The IMN shall forever remain peaceful.

Yesterday been 1st May we celebrated the "International Labour Day" to honor all workers the world over. But some of us also commemorated the martyrdom of one of the greatest writer, thinker and philosopher of our time, Ayatollah Murtadha #Mutahari. He was a student of Imam #Khomeini and his intellectual son and also one of the pillars of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in #Iran, he was brutally assassinated on May 1st, 1979 by agents of Western imperialism that just lost Iran then. He wrote extensively on political, social, moral, economic etc aspects of human endeavors, I recommend all his work to all those who follow my work.

Concerning the issue of calling non-Muslims "Kafir", Ayatollah Mutahari said:

"There is a great misunderstanding about the word '#kafir'. Literally, '#kafir' means one who #refuses. Generally, people take it as an equivalent of non-Muslim. This is incorrect. To think that those who are not Muslims are kafir is a wrong notion. According to Islam, everyone is simply '#insaan' or human being. There are hundreds of times when the Quran addresses people with words such as 'an-naas' or '#al-insan'. So, everyone is basically a human being. The Prophet of Islam was born in Mecca and then migrated to Medina. At that time there were some #Jewish tribes in Medina. One day the Prophet saw a funeral procession passing through a street in Medina. The #Prophet was seated at that time. On seeing the funeral, he stood up in respect. One of his companions said, '#O Prophet he was a Jew, not a Muslim.' The Prophet replied: '#Was he not a human being?' Thus the Prophet discovered a commonality between himself and the non-Muslim. This is the true spirit of Islam."

After the brutal #ZariaMassacre by the Nigerian army that killed close to 1000 defenseless and unarmed Nigerian civilians, the Nigerian regime launched a massive smear campaigns of calumny and demonization against the peaceful Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) under the leadership of His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. The Nigerian regime tried with no success to brand the #IMN as a "violent extremist group" like the murderous #BokoHaram. These well sponsored and well funded campaigns of calumny failed because the IMN have been in existence for more than 37 years with no single record of violence, killing or harming anybody.

The Nigerian regime that is desperate to justify it massacre of defenseless Nigerians rented various mushroom "human rights groups" to attack the IMN and demonize it as a "violent extremist group" and this is a different front from the massive anti-Shia campaigns by Saudi - sponsored Wahhabi/Salafi groups that have the full backing of the Nigerian regime. Out of desperation the Nigerian regime recently recruited a "Shia" group that does not have 3,000 membership in Nigeria to excommunicate Sheikh Zakzaky from Shia Islam.

Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is not a sectarian fanatic that thinks that it is only through Shia Islam that one can practice Islam, he believed that the Shia school is one of the schools of thought within Islam. And that is the reason why despite the fact that he has millions of followers within and outside Nigeria he prohibited his followers to build their own separate Mosque, he asked them to always pray in the available Mosques that are led by Sunni Muslims. And all the schools of IMN are labeled "Fudiyya" in honor of a great Islamic revolutionary and reformer in the West African sub-region Sheikh Uthman Ibn Fodio (ra). The narrow - minded sectarian Shia will definately not be happy with this and that is why like their Wahhabi cousins they both celebrated the brutal Zaria massacre that killed 1000+ innocent Nigerians.

Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is not a religious bigot either and that was why his home in Gyellesu was the refuge of Southern Christians during the 2011 post-election riots that engulfed Northern Nigeria. He does not believe in the Wahhabi concept that "Muslims should hate Christians", he believed in the famous saying of Imam Ali (as) that said:"Humanity is either your brother in faith or your equal in creation". It is a fact that the IMN is the only Islamic organization in Nigeria that invites Christians to all its programs and activities to enhance mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. A proponent of violent extremism will never have such tolerant beliefs as tolerance is the exact opposite of extremism.

Sheikh Zakzaky have always preach the true spirit of Islam as stated by Ayatollah Mutahari above, the spirit that respect and accommodate all despite tribal, religious and sectarian differences. When he was Sunni he always called for unity with Shia Muslims and when he became Shia he alway call for unity among all Muslims. On all occasions of the birth anniversary of the Prophet (sa) Sheikh Zakzaky use to invite all Muslims to celebrate "Unity Week" and discuss on how Muslim unity can be achieve.

It is important to note that the true spirit of Islam is not only found in Shia Islam, it also exist in Sunni Islam but the Wahhabi contamination of Sunni Islam encapsulated such spirit. Check this #Sunni_Hadith:

"A disbelieving Bedouin (village Arab) urinated in the Mosque, and the people rushed to beat him. Allah’s Apostle ordered them to leave him alone, let him finish and pour water over the place where he has passed urine. The Prophet (sa) then explained to the Bedouin calmly, 'This is a place of worship, in it is the worship of God and the reading of Qur’an.' After the Bedouin had left, the Prophet (sa) then said to his companions, 'You have been sent to make things easy (for the people) and you have not been sent to make things difficult for them.'"

This is the spirit of true #Islam, if it is today's Wahhabi contamination of Sunni Islam they will cut-off his head and display it on videos as a trophy of victory. Sadly today some people who call themselves "Muslims" measure victory by the number of the innocent people they slaughtered. Islam is not the hatred, intolerance, extremism and terrorism that followers of #Wahhabism are displaying today, Islam is the love, mercy, compassion and tolerance that was acted and preached by #Prophet_Muhammad (sa) and the Imams of AhlulBayt (as) from his family.

On a last note, Muslim must revive this true spirit of Islam that is devoid of hatred, sectarian division and respect for all humanity. Hating Christians will never force them to become Muslims, hating Shias will never force them to become Sunnis and hating Sunnis will never force them to become Shias. Humanity must coexist and this is very important, violent extremist ideologies like #Wahhabism that reject coexistence with others should be condemned and rejected as humanity is one.

ISLAMIC MOVEMENT IN NIGERIA DISSOCIATES ITSELF FROM ANY FORM OF TERRORISM AND VIOLENCE

We have noted in the last few days the malicious suggestions linking the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) with terrorism and violence in several official quarters. Notable ones include the Kaduna state governor, Nasiru elRufai, who in a television program recently, malevolently suggested that Sheikh Zakzaky and the Movement are violent. He went further spitefully to use a derogatory word to describe our leader, with which he hoped we would react and they would use that as a premise to unleash violence in our name.

Yet other attempts at smearing our name were made last week in Kaduna and Lagos, when some paid thugs were sponsored to protest against freedom for Sheikh Zakzaky, linking him again with terrorism, which they have not been able to establish in any law court.

We have reliably understood that there are some grand designs to carry out series of attacks and subsequently attribute same to the IMN.

Having seen peaceful protests in Abuja last week on the occasion of 500 days of the detention of Sheikh Zakzaky incommunicado, without access to his lawyers or medical attention, the security apparatus earnestly desire through the use of two-faced machination of the enemy pretending to be working to free our leader while in fact they mean evil. They have concluded plans to infiltrate our programs and spur violence in order to swing public opinion against the IMN and justify the continued detention of Sheikh Zakzaky and their genocide.

We wish to categorically dissociate the Movement with any form of violence whatsoever. The Movement has never employed violence in its entire four decades of existence. It is on record that the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has never breached any peace even on provocation. This is not about to change no matter the incitement. IMN is not and will not be responsible for any breach of peace or violence that will result from any false-flag plots.

We will continue to employ all lawful, legal and constitutional means to achieve our goals, and would not be blackmailed into submission or surrender. Our timely rallies, processions and campaign activities will continue as at when due and in our ways without fear of intimidation. We will also continue to seek redress in national and international courts of justice as we have done in the past sixteen months.

Finally, we use this opportunity to call all people of conscience to intensify pressure on the Nigerian regime to respect the rule of law and unconditionally release Sheikh Zakzaky.

To think that those who are not Muslims are kafir is a wrong notion. According to Islam, everyone is simply '#insaan' or human being. There are hundreds of times when the Quran addresses people with words such as 'an-naas' or '#al-insan'. So, everyone is basically a human being.

The Prophet of Islam was born in Mecca and then migrated to Medina. At that time there were some #Jewish tribes in Medina. One day the Prophet saw a funeral procession passing through a street in Medina. The #Prophet was seated at that time. On seeing the funeral, he stood up in respect. One of his companions said, '#O Prophet he was a Jew, not a Muslim.' The Prophet replied: '#Was he not a human being?' Thus the Prophet discovered a commonality between himself and the non-Muslim. This is the true spirit of Islam."

El-Rufai: “The animal we are dealing with”

There is no surprise whatsoever because Governor Nasir El-Rufai displays the peak of disrespect and lack of dignity through the shameless use of vulgar language on a revered leader of millions of people claiming that it was an idiomatic expression. Every responsible and right thinking person knows the right idioms to use in the right place. Only fools misuse language in display of their stupidity.
Definitely with Gov El-Rufai’s records of betrayal even to those politicians like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former President Olusegun Obasanjo that brought him to limelight says a lot about him.
This even led the former President Olusegun Obasanjo to describe him as a pathological liar and of recent his betrayal of his party members, his crises with all the three Senators from the state, political segregation of the Southern Kaduna and inability to fulfill the promises he made to the state. This is not talking about his inability to condone criticisms in such a way that he uses clause like ‘hate speech’ to descend on those who criticize him or his personal interest especially journalists. Meanwhile, every project he embarked upon in the state has been abandoned halfway.
What is worse is that since the role he played in the Zaria massacre of December 12th to 14th 2015, in which he became a potential candidate of the International Criminal Court (ICC) he has been looking for ways to falsely implicate the IMN and initiate cropped up charges on the leader of the Movement and some of his lieutenants. The IMN he is now describing as an insurgent group is the same IMN he visited during his campaign and on which he even used the clause murderous “Jonathanian Army” to condemn the killing of 34 IMN members including three sons of the leader Sheikh Ibrheem Zakzaky by the Jonathan regime. Yes Jonathan apologized and was sorry for what he did.
Gov El-Rufai is now part of the team that extra-judicially murdered over 1000 innocent unarmed civilians including women and children. His government publicly and shamelessly announced mass burying 347 people that were not necessarily confirmed dead.
He deceptively used state resources to establish a Judicial Commission of Inquiry (JCI) in which IMN members were sidelined and refused a fair hearing and many people were sponsored by the state to go before the commission to concoct lies against the IMN. He produced a whitepaper that is at variance with the findings of the inquiry reference to which he violated the Nigerian Constitution and declared the IMN an unlawful society.
He also declared why he nurses prejudice against IMN claiming that they did not vote for him and telling lies to the public that IMN members don’t vote. He accused the IMN of being an insurgent and terrorist group without any evidence but his personal greed claiming that the IMN does recognize the president as president and him as the Kaduna state governor. This is foolishly in attempt to justify why he joined in the killing of innocent IMN members.
He played an active role in the genocide by using the state resources in destroying all possible evidences of the brutal killings of the IMN members. As the Nigerian Army murdered IMN members in cold blood, burned some of them alive including women and children, used heavy weapons on innocent unarmed civilians and even molested women, they cordoned off the area and washed off blood stains and picked away all bomb and bullet shells to hide evidences of state terrorism. Governor El-Rufai joined in the mischief and demolished all the sites, packed the rubbles to unknown destinations and buried over 1000 IMN members in mass graves some of who were buried alive by him. Here also he violated all known laws in the country as well as the Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute.
As if all these were not enough, Governor El-Rufai used his office to engage in contempt of court through the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) where the court issued an order for the release of the IMN leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. The court also ordered that he be compensated, provided a residence and police protection. The Federal High Court judge in his judgment condemned the attack on the IMN leader as an abuse of fundamental human rights which he described as a mischievous attack by a Sunni majority in power on a Shiite minority. He condemned the massacre as a national embarrassment. He is now seeking to take over the illegal detention of the IMN leader under the pretext that he was going to investigate the ‘terrorist’ activities of the IMN in the past 34 years as he claimed.
He is seeking by all means to justify the genocide, state terrorism and mass murder they have jointly perpetrated. He also killed tens of IMN members that protested against the Zaria massacre in Kaduna on the 15th of December 2015 and during the Ashura activities. Some of his known advisers were among those identified among the sponsored rogues and thugs that attacked the houses of the IMN members and looted and even killed some of them.
These animal tendencies of aggression against fellow human beings perpetrated by the governor and his team are so glaring. They are a display of brutal animal behaviors and inhumanity that makes him part of the team that perpetrated the worse human rights abuse ever in Nigeria. This is the first time out of sectarian sentiments that Nigeria has witnessed government engaging in genocide.
On the other hand the revered leader of the IMN is known for peace, justice, fairness and unity among all humans irrespective of religion, region, sect or race. He is known to be seeking for a better future for Nigeria and has spent all his life striving to achieve this goal. He has set a benchmark that people with animal tendencies like Gov El-Rufai can never achieve even if he has to live ten life times.
This golden life by Sheikh Zakzaky had drawn millions of people to him from all social strata and is highly respected across the world as a leading cleric. It is these qualities that earned him recommendation by a past government.
It is even these qualities that made El-Rufai to pay the revered leader a condolence visit when three of his sons were killed by what the governor described as ‘Jonathanian Army’ only for him to now belong to the ‘Buharian terror team’ that killed over 1000 innocent, unarmed, women, children and men. At the time of that visit the IMN leader was not a terrorist and the IMN was not an insurgent group. They became terrorists and insurgent groups after the massacre. It does not require any talents to identify who the animal is between the two and the animal we are dealing with.

As Sheikh Ibraheem Yaqoub Zakzaky clocks 500 days in illegal detention today Wednesday 26/04/17, we troop out en masse to show our displeasure at the continued detention of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky against any reasonable reasons and in defiance of legitimate court judgement on the matter.

As Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days of unjustifiable detention, we come out in our numbers to peacefully show our dissatisfaction with the way the government of President Buhari has been handling the subject of Zaria pogrom that was conducted by the Army under his ultimate command. This was what led to the Sheikh's unwarranted detention in the first place, and its aftermaths, including the extra judicial murder of over a thousand innocent citizens under 48 hours!

As Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days in this unjustified detention, we have come out to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to Sheikh's freedom and justice for all those oppressed sequel to that brutal massacre. As Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days in brutal detention, it is clear for all to see that neither the federal government nor any of its various security agencies has been able to come up with any coherent charge against the revered Leader. This is a clear and incontrovertible proof of his innocence. It is not written in any of the statutor laws of this country that a bonafide citizen could be detained indefinitely without being brought before a competent court of the law.

As Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days in unlawful detention, it is now over 100 days since a federal high court sitting in Abuja ordered that he should be set released from the clutches of the authorities holding him hostage in whatever guise and by the DSS or whosoever. It is therefore baffling why a supposed democratic government would continue to contemptuously defy the rule of law with so much impunity. The lame excuse of appealing against the judgment of the high court notwithstanding, there is no counter order staying the execution of the federal high court’s judgement.

As Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days in unwarranted detention, the Nigerian Army that has committed this horrible massacre in Zaria, remain unpunished and have even chosen not to investigate what it did between 12-14 December, 2015, as it recently inaugurated an investigative panel on accusations of human rights abuses on the Army. What is the Army hierarchy afraid of that it can’t even dare investigate a serious allegation of coldblooded killing of over 1000 civilians in Zaria?

As Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days in disastrous detention, he has been denied the right to proper medical attention that he deserves, being a 66 year old (about to mark his 66th birthday in Buhari’s gulag in the next few days). Since the fatal gunshot wounds he sustained in the course of his abduction on 14th of December, 2015 he has not been allowed medical visit by qualified physicians of his choice, even as his health continue to deteriorate.

As Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days in contentious detention today, millions of his followers and sympathizers have chosen the path of civility in their strong demand for his immediate release. Even in the face of intimidation and harassment under the auspices of some state Governors, we have remained focused and peaceful. This is a clear indication that the teachings of Sheikh Zakzaky has always been nonviolent contrary to what detractors always try to paint to justify their murderous intent on innocent members of the Islamic Movement.

Finally as Sheikh Zakzaky clocks 500 days in a murderous detention, we will like to appeal to the good people of Nigeria and the international community to prevail on the government of Buhari to release our Leader, his fatally wounded wife along with other detainees unconditionally without further delay. His continued illegal incarceration does not harbor any good to all of us in the country and beyond. His continued detention is a blight on the democratic credentials of Nigeria in the comity of Nations.

God bless Nat Geo Wild. I must thank the grossly underrated channel with all my heart. The channel is a good channel, a great channel, my favourite channel. May Nat Geo Wild continue to be what it is. Thanks to Nat Geo Wild for The shows they show, the things I have seen there, the things I have learned, the things I hope to one day remember about life. May God reward them with all they deserve and more. I must thank them generally for putting on a good show. Thanks to the channel called Nat Geo Wild, I have swallowed what is simply immense, astounding, it is beyond my meagre comprehension of the English language, to describe the ways Nat Geo Wild contributes to enrich my understanding of life in this world. How can my meagre words aspire to make utterances, to a point approaching a vague representation of justice?

Since the Zaria massacre 2015, the gruesome extermination of Shiites minority Muslims where more than a thousand Nigerians that includes many women and children were gunned down by the Nigerian Army for allegation centered on blocking the way of the ''almighty'' Army Chief Buratai (Dubai landlord), we are yet to hear any official statement concerning the offense committed by Sheikh Zakzaky who has been under detention after sustaining several gun injuries without trial for almost a year and half now. I want to share with you Nigerians what happened when I had a security meeting over @ConcernedNIG planned protests in FCT. Follow the thread

1. The Commissioner of Police for FCT said he wanted to see Convener of @ConcernedNIG , so I decided to go with a witness: @Shalomttheo

2. When I got there, I found the Brigade Commander of Brigade of Guards there and the Director of SSS FCT & 2 other officers. We were 7

3. The commissioner chaired the meeting and did the introductions. He began thereafter by saying "Mr. Adeyanju, we called you to warn you".

4. I replied and said "Warn me over what". He said: for dabbling into things that does not concern you. I immediately interrupted him.

5. I said: "Did you actually call me to your office sir & made me leave everything I was doing to threaten me"? He said No ooo. I said okay.

6. He now said: its concerning your letters about protests for Nnamdi Kanu of Biafra & ZakZakky. He said they do not approve of such rallies

7. I said: "Sir, it seems you did not read the letters very well. You have no such powers to give approval for rallies.

8. We never wrote to you to give approval for our rallies because you have no such powers. We wrote to you for police protection. Simple

9. If you decide to come & protect us which is the job you swore to, protest will go on; if you don't come, protest will still go on sir.

10. Then the Brigade Commander interrupted me saying everyone here is older than me & over 50yrs, etc. That they are Elders blah blah blah.

11. That I should not get myself involved with the Shiites. That they are deadly and dangerous group. That ZakZakky is very dangerous.

12. He then started to make comparison between BOKO HARAM and Shiites, etc saying Boko HARAM have killed many of his colleagues in the NE.

13. He said he will not allow the sect to do what they want to do that they are a violent group. I said really?

14. He said I should be very mindful of the kind of people I show support to. That YES, pressure groups are good in a democracy but ....

24. I said: I organized the #SayNoToXenophia attacks under GEJ. I called for the sack and prosecution of Deizani over corruption, etc.

25. I told him but let us assume I didn't organize any protests then, does that mean I should not organize now? What rule says I can't now?

26. Then he said: Deji you have a promising future in this country. Some of us are just concerned about you.

27. We don't want anything to happen to you. Some of these your rallies, hoodlums can take advantage of it & something bad will just happen

28. I replied and said: "If you people want to disrupts our rallies with hoodlums, say it. Then he started talking about security concerns

29. He said there were security concerns etc. That just recently in FCT, some criminals killed policemen and took their arms

33. At that point the Commissioner of Police interrupted me saying: "There are so many things to fight for. Not people like Nnamdi Kanu."

34. He said if I take the anti corruption war alone & start fighting in that direction, I will become a hero. Love

35. At that point I was already angry. I said point blank the rallies will all take place except if they attack us at the venue.

36. They said they wanted me to shift the rally indefinitely. I declined & that was the end of the meeting.

37. It is important to note that there were comments made by the Brigade Commander about the Shiites which I intentionally left out.

38. Those comments were not only deregulatory against the Shiites but also form the basis of the continuous attacks on the Shiites.

39. If a man who is suppose to protect all Nigerians irrespective of their religious believes concludes that some are not muslims, then ....

40. Who are we to decide who a true believer in God is? When did we become God?

The continued incarceration of Sheikh Zakzaky is indefensible, Mr. VP

On Thursday, 20/4/2017, in a video clip posted on the official tweeter handle of the presidency, the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was seen speaking to the Guardian newspaper defending the federal government’s refusal to comply with a Federal High Court’s judgement that ordered the release of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife from illegal detention.

In the said video clip, the VP attributed the failure to comply with that landmark judgement to a purported appeal against the judgement by the federal government.

It is both curious and ridiculous that the VP, not only because of his professional calling, but also as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) would justify contempt of court on mere appeal of a judgement without a contrary ruling or stay of execution order by a superior court.

Certainly, the Vice President knows quite well that an appeal against a lower court judgement does not justify its disobedience without suspension by a superior court. It is therefore a gross abuse of the legal process to continue to detain Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife for over four months after that judgement without a contrary order by a competent court.

As a demonstration of what he termed avowed commitment of the Buhari administration to operate under the rule of law, the VP should use his good offices to ensure that Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife are released from illegal incarceration without any further delay rather than defending the indefensible.

The case of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife is the worst case of human rights violation, with respect to the right of personal liberty since the colonial regime. It is the height of impunity that has ever been committed by a democratic government in this country to detain without court order and without charges for fifteen months. It is even worse when a court has ordered the release of such a person, and the government contemptuously holds him.

Even previously under a military dictatorship headed by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, nobody was detained without an order made, pursuant to a decree, the States Security Detention of Persons Decree Number 2 of 1984. Nobody was detained without an order made by the detaining authority. Today, there is no such law. So, our case cannot be worse under a democratic dispensation as against what occurred in that military junta.

Finally, we will like to reiterate our call for the immediate release of our Leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife as ordered by the Federal High Court, Abuja. We also call for the immediate release of hundreds of IMN members languishing in Kaduna Prison and many detention centres across the Country.

The North is an orphan. Part 1

An orphan is literally that minor whose father is late. This is because he is seen to have lost some life’s basic support that would make him into a man. A person that has lost his mother is generally not seen as an orphan as he who has lost his father.
Northern Nigeria is that orphan that has lost both parents and is left wandering in the wilderness while all his supposed relations only seek to squeeze life out of it.
The north I am referring to here is that of Nigeria that is comprised of three of the six geo-political zones and housing 19 of the 36 states of the federation. It is also predominantly Hausa/Fulani although there are other tribes including Yoruba. It is predominantly Muslim in religion although there are a lot of Christians. Its population as well as its land mass, which is generally fertile, could be placed on an average of 60 percent of the entire country.
It has a history of being an Islamic Empire established about 200 years ago by the Islamic revivalist and scholar Sheikh Uthman bn Fodio. The Empire was destroyed with the advent of colonialists from England, a situation that kept the region under colonial rule for over half a century before an amalgamation that brought about the current state after independence.
The north is so shattered that it’s like it has no owner, nobody cares for it in such a way that it reflects the entire poverty being suffered in the country. Most of the youth in the region have no hope for a better future in most of the communities and there is nobody that cares for them and their plight.
The norht’s politicians, its religious scholars especially Muslims, its elites, its businessmen and others have since adopted a negative philosophy of exploiting the north for their own personal benefits. Any time one hears any one of them calling the north (Arewa) there is something he is aiming to benefit as an individual. They never engage in any projects that will benefit the poverty stricken populace of the region.
The north has the worse socio-religious set-up with highest numbers of divorced women and beggars, unemployed youth and the worse and lowest access to education and entrepreneurial skills. They are more of a bunch of neglected and wasted human resources all because of their greedy, selfish and unpatriotic leaders.
Talking about the issues raised recently that have to do with resolving the problem of Almajiris in which children are abused and exposed to a lot of social ills, the northern leaders and elites in pretense make all efforts to blame it on the myopic populace claiming that they are making efforts to resolve the problem.
The Almajiri system is known as the Timbuktu system of learning that has produced a lot of scholars in history. Such scholars that include linguists and calligraphists that invented the Hausa alphabets called ‘Ajami’ that have aided literary works, it founded Khadis, Philosophers, Jurists experts in logic, sociology and medicine that have produced literary reference materials. The system provided access to the science of Quranic memorization and exegesis.
In the past the system was supported by the state with state resources called ‘Baitulmal’. More so the scholars had warehouses of grains that are preserved after every harvest of which the students learn the sciences of agriculture while in such Almajiri centers. They never go to beg on the streets. In fact in some of the communities state visitors are hosted in such Almajiri centers because they had enough resources.
The plight of the Almajiris started with the coming of colonialism during which the system was destroyed and forcefully uprooted from its base. The colonialists saw the Almajiri system of education as a threat to their colonial plans and had to destroy it. This led to the total neglect of the Almajiri system and the introduction of a new colonial system of education funded by taxes extorted from the ordinary populace.
Almajiri scholars in the past have written many books that were either destroyed by the colonialists or stolen by them. It was such that an entirely new curriculum was introduced that gave credence to the ideals of the colonialists. They changed the true history of the region and taught lies they have concocted in the newly introduced educational system.
Such lies included telling people that the north’s major pride, which was the revolution that founded a fast developing empire led by Sheikh Uthman bn Fodio, the Islamic revivalist was a ‘Fulani Jihad’ and not an Islamic Revolution. Bn Fodio actually led an Islamic revolution under which an Islamic Empire was established with complete social, political, economic and judicial systems operating. There were schools, courts, industry and the military as well as law enforcement and functional law and order in the empire. Even the colonialists attested to the fact that they met a level of development and a functional system across the Niger River.
Before the coming of the colonialists nobody in the north was walking about naked because there was already in place the science of textile technology, there was architecture that constructed colorful and artistic walls and even storey buildings called ‘soro’ in places like Kano.
The colonialists as part of their colonial activities distorted the history of the north in a deliberate attempt at killing it’s future by inducing the fake belief that everything started in the region with the coming of the colonialists. They gave wrong impressions of the past and trained elites to keep their new system alive.
The colonialists actually under-developed the north by removing it from the right course of development, freedom, independence and progress, to the course of retrogression, domination, dependence and under-development. Those who learnt all they know from the colonialists in the name of being educated might find it difficult to understand these facts because of the mind-set on which they have been placed both by colonialism and neo-colonialism as well as inferiority complex induced in them.
One would wonder how the colonialists were able to achieve setting the region on the path of retrogression. Actually it was not that easy because was not without resistance. They fought a popular war in this regard in 1903 at a place called Giginya near Sokoto from where they used more advanced killing machines to forcefully install themselves and put in place new leaders loyal to them.
The northerners were not traded like slaves, it was the case of a sovereign nation forcefully taking over another sovereign nation in the name of colonization. The newly established system and authority naturally neglected the Almajiri system of education in such a way that such centers had to rely on other sources to survive to continue to keep the religious education alive. The Almajiri system of learning is better described as a casualty of colonialism. That is the beginning of the plight of the north and that is why it has no patriots. It has been cut off from its roots and history and has been disallowed to get to exploit and benefit the newly introduced system.

On Channels TV Kaduna Governor Elrufai Called Sheikh Zakzaky "Animal"

A Nigerian brother, Muhammad Ibrahim Gamawa, posted the message below in our international WhatsApp forum for international social media activists "LetterForYou":

"When Channels TV asked Elrufa'i on Sheikh Zakzaky his answer was 'I know the animal I'm dealing with'. Asked by the presenter to use a better word but he still insisted that it is an idiom. She asked him again 'if that is the only word he can use on Elzakzaky, Then say 'That man'."

Another Nigerian brother challenged him and said it was #FakeNews that should not be posted in the forum. I cautioned brother Gamawa by advising him to always share truthful information in our forum and I concluded by saying "We are people who don't lie even about our enemies. That is who we are. The end never justify the means to us. God is always with the truthful ones."

Then I opened my Twitter Handle and I received a message from a Lagos-based activist. When I opened the message it was Elrufai's interview with the Channels TV and Maupe Ogun was the host. What brother Gamawa posted in our forum was the truth. Elrufai described Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky as an Animal and Maupe Ogun insisted that he must withdraw the word "Animal".

Vicious Animals can gang-up and kill thousands other animals and dumped their bodies in the forest. The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, and his millions of followers in Nigeria and other African countries have never killed a single person in the entire nearly forty years of his Call. Those Nigerians that killed more than one thousand innocent Nigerians in Zaria in December 2015 and dumped the dead bodies of their victims in mass graves at night were President Buhari, Governor Elrufai, Army Chief Buratai and their gang of mass murderers. Any observer will notice that the word "animal" is most fitted to Governor Elrufai and his gang of mass murderers who brutally slaughtered more than one thousand Nigerian children, women, the aged and men then waited for the cover of the night then dumped the dead bodies in mass graves.

On 13th December, 2015, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky was in his residence when President Buhari sent thousands of Nigerian soldiers to attack and burnt down the house. The Soldiers killed hundreds of innocent Nigerian children and women, they killed three (3) children of Sheikh Zakzaky, they killed his young Nephew, they burnt his 70+ year old sister alive and they rained bullets on him and his wife. This monumental savagery and inhumanity barbarism is worst than animalism. When the Soldiers butchered defenseless Nigerians they were chanting "No Shia in Nigeria". The Soldiers shot IMN girls and women in their private parts and stabbed their breasts with Riffle Bayonets chanting "No Shia in Nigeria". This action of the murderous Soldiers was genocidal.

The more than one thousand innocent Nigerians that were slaughtered during #ZariaMassacre were buried in mass graves at night by Governor Elrufai. Hundreds of those Nigerians were buried alive by Elrufai and his murderous gang as almost all of them do not have the hospital certification that they were death. If there is any word worst than "animal" then Elrufai and his murderous gang are worst than that.

After these monumental slaughter and inhumanity against innocent Nigerians by the Buhari-led Nigerian government, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky did not ask his millions of followers to seek revenge or kill anybody. He asked them to go to Court, both National and international, to seek redress for the monumental injustice. This is true humanity and civilization but the Midget Satan Elrufai claimed that "Zakzaky and his followers are lawless". Nigerians should tell these bloodthirsty Wahhabi savage that lawless people do not go to Court. They massacre innocent people and dumped their dead bodies in mass graves at night. On #SouthernKaduna genocide, Governor Elrufai confessed that he paid the murderous terrorists huge sum of money. This is typical example of lawlessness of a murderous savage.

On a final note, before now Elrufai and their mass murderer gang use to sent their barking dogs to do the name-calling and spreading all forms of campaigns of calumny and demonization against Shia Islam, Sheikh Zakzaky and IMN but now the bloodthirsty mass murderers are doing the name-calling themselves. This means that the evil foreign imperialist agenda of the inhuman Zaria massacre has failed woefully. These murderous criminals will face prosecution one day for their heinous crimes against innocent Nigerians.

On the night of 12th December 2015 in the city of Zaria, Kaduna state, Sheik El Zakzaky, the leader of the 10 million-strong Shia muslim community in Nigeria, was shot, brutalized and dumped in a wheelbarrow.

He barely escaped with his life but sadly, according to Iranian government sources and the New York Times, his wife, two of his sons and no less than one thousand of his shia Muslim followers were not so lucky.

They were massacred in the sanctity of their homes that night by members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Up until the time that I am writing this essay not one word of regret or remorse has been expressed by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Armed
Forces or the Federal Government about the whole incident.

That alone speaks volumes but what is more important to note is the fact that this is one of the most brutal and callous events in the history of our country.

It was premeditated, well-planned, well-orchestrated and well-executed. Homes were bombed and burnt to the ground and innocent and defenseless men, women and children were slaughtered in an unrelenting frenzy of violence.

After the carnage the bodies of the victims were left in the compound of the houses and in the streets and gutters for carrion birds to feed on and for street urchins and petty thieves to rob. This was indeed a sordid and shameful chapter: it was not only mass murder but it was also a crime against humanity.

Those that were murdered were targeted simply because they were Shia Muslims and simply because, earlier in the day, some of them had mounted a road block which obstructed the convoy of the General Burutai, the Chief of Army Staff.

It is very clear that by this act alone the Chief of Army Staff, under whose orders these men were acting, President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces, and every single officer and soldier that took part in the massacre are guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity and are therefore candidates for the International Criminal Court at the Hague.

Our leaders must be accountable and it is my fervent prayer and desire that the whole matter ends up their and that both Buhari and Burutai are called to justice.

What makes the whole matter worse is the fact that there was no mention of the episode on BBC television or CNN and there was no sense of outrage in our country about what these people had been subjected to.

One wonders what happened to our sense of decency and our ability to empathize with those that are suffering and that have been subjected to injustice? What happened to our sense of responsibility, our sensitivity and our compassion?
