The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has assured former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar that Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State would be peaceful.

Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin and his supporters say they have moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) due to the crisis rocking the party in Oyo state.

The group led by Lanlehin said this in a communiqué issued after its meeting held in Ibadan on Monday.

The communiqué, which was made available to journalists on Tuesday in Ibadan, stated that the meeting was convened by Lanlehin, a former Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and governorship candidate of ADC in the 2019 general election.

A 9-year-old South African girl who disappeared while playing with friends on 1 September 2020, has been found dead.

The body of Boipelo Sesele was found in a man’s wardrobe after a 12-day search before neighbours then allegedly killed the murder suspect.

Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Sam Makhele said Sesele’s body was found not far from her home on Saturday afternoon.

The United States Department of Justice has alleged that billions of naira stolen from the Presidential Amnesty Programme by a former head of the office, Mr Kingsley Kuku, were transferred to bank accounts in the United States where they were laundered and used to purchase airplanes to start Air Peace as well as luxury homes and vehicles, the THEWILL reports.

Kuku served as Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs and was Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Office under President Goodluck Jonathan, who served from 2010-2015.

Registration for the 774,000 Special Public Works Programme will end on September 21, 2020, the Federal Government has said.

James Ibori, a former governor of Delta State who admitted to stealing more than $250 million from the state as a sitting governor, alongside his mistress, Udoamaka Onuigbo, on Thursday, appeared in a virtual UK court sitting as the confiscation of stolen assets hearing begun.
