jpphilips: I agree with you on the technology part but over the last decade, the operational cost onshore the delta has eroded the profit margin, sabotage and sectional strife has become the order of the day in the delta. You are right on the community issue. However, it is easier for companies with Nigerian ownership to approach the communities and reach a mutual agreement compared with the IOCs. It becomes a we-we thing. The saboteurs believe the IOCs have loads of money to part with when their staff is kidnapped but with properly managed local content( take over by local companies), they will have to shift ground too. It would be easier for Mr Emeka Haruna, MD of a Nigerian company to make the communities understand why they can do better by working together than for Mr Bush Van Dam me, MD of any IOC to reason logically with the communities. That's my take. |
Moderators...... Front page please. By the way ftc Yes? FTC..... AJONTOUAYE |
jpphilips: I agree with you completely, it baffled me when spdc West was still operational, we lost heavily on production that most locations were no longer profitable, huge amounts were lost to pipeline repairs and other forms of sabotage, immediately SPDC west was sold to Nest Oil and Seplat, all the sabotage ended, production doubled, the new guys smiled to the bank, Only in Nigeria. The foreigners have. Come to understand the logic behind the whole issue. When a staff of the IOCs are kidnapped, the companies pay heavily. With the change of ownership, the new owners can easily get in touch with the 'boys' and beg them to understand that it is we- we o, no spoil our business, we will sort out. The 'boys' will show some sympathy to the indigenes as compared to the IOCs. Have you seen the Nigerian movie on the oil industry, BLOOD AND OIL? |
Culbobby: Wise-ass mofos, those oil wells are probably drying up. Ask yourself, would I sell my pops house if there's a scared room that keeps minting out cash?( nollywood movie)...''Local buyer'' pls don't do it!The truth is that there are still considerable hydrocarbons in some of these onshore assets that can fetch the local companies money. By the time they run 4D or 5D seismic survey and with new technology, they can go deeper into the OLIGOCENE PLAY and drill deeper. There are lots of bypassed reservoirs in these oil blocs that the available technology as at the time of exploration in the 60s, 70s and early 80s could not see. |
o2k: If a wise man finds a treasure on an island, he would go back home and sell all that he has, and use the proceed to buy that island.Shell has found the treasure in their offshore assets. The reservoirs there have more hydrocarbons than the onshore assets and the stress is reduced for them. |
OpendTect has a free version that you can download online from dgb earth sciences(dgbes). I have petrel 2009 that I can give for free( its too large to upload here) I can also give surfer 8,10 as well as winglink free. rickkid: Also beware of Vemma. They will even tell you the container is nanotechnology driven. I put their claims to shame the day I went there. |
If only there were to be a regulator of these MLM promoters. There are a million and one products that they promote. It's just a pyramid (Ponzi) scheme that they have added products to. There's this one they call XFT. They claim it reduces fuel consumption and improves engine life. I registered with them with 112k only to discover that the product is not retailable. With the way Nigerians use petrol, kerosene, diesel, you would expect that such an additive will move sharply. Na lie. When I contacted the lady who introduced me to them to come and buy the stock I have at half price ( i was willing to bear loss), she was always telling me very funny stories. I responded to a guy who was promoting the product on nairaland some hours ago. I told him to come and buy the stock in have at half price and the fellow said I should pay money into his account to buy a book that will help me be successful in selling the product. So disgusting. In short, all these MLM schemes are fraudulent. It's just a pity that anybody can come into Nigeria, package anything and scam people into parting with their money. |
Reptyle: Tom Ikimi like Fani Kayode, Ojo Maduekwe and Jerry Gana are very unstable politicians. Their only motivation is power by all means...so no surprise here. Please where is that Ojo Maduekwe? The man seems quiet since OBJ left power. I know he's still chopping govt money in one corner share. |

A friend introduced me to the product sometimes last year. She was always calling me 24/7. Then, I was not really into the MLM aspect but because it's a fuel additive and with the high consumption of fuel in Nigeria, I was mostly interested in being a retailer, just buy n sell and take my profit. After I paid for the first batch of products, I discovered it was not really accepted in the automotive market. For a product that does what they claim xft does, it should be in every household in this country( don't u think so too?). When I discovered the product isn't really what it is, I called my friend to come and buy my stock at half price, since then Na story she dey always tell me. She called me last in march. I made it clear to her that if she is really making sales on the product as she claimed, she would be willing to buy my stock at half price because that means she will eventually make more money out of it than me. It's a scam. That's my opinion. If the product really works as they claim, it should be on everybody's lips by now. Funny enough, you have to pay money to attend their seminars so even if you eventually don't register with them, they would have at least made some money off you. Some of their top promoters like a guy named Ephraim are even rude when you try to ask them intelligent questions. I hope you get to make the best decision for yourself sha. |
I am willing to sell the products(XFT) that I have to you at half price just to get it off my rack. Send me a PM if you are interested. |

ABEngine: 1. Friends never mention when the applications were ongoing but will waste no time to publish their locations if you wish to gate crash.Number 5 ehn. Imagine getting an invitation for a chat with mgt and placing a call to the number and they tell you that it's based on your application on a job portal. On getting there, they give you paper that you'll write a short test and while you are wondering why a test when the SMS invite says chat, you get the shocker. It's MLM! MULTILEVEL MARKETING SH* T OF ONE YEYE PRODUCT LIKE THAT. We nearly beat them up that day o. |
Evergreen123: lack of creativity in our so called graduates.Uncreative graduates are results of an environment that places too much emphasis on paper qualification. Everybody wants to say 'I go school'. The average street mechanic is better off in knowledge of vehicle repair than the average mech eng graduate. Who's to blame? The system has made everybody lazy in terms of creativity. All the same, these Okada riding graduates are better off making a honest living than being criminals. |
Ali and simbi. Wakama and Odion and stuffs like that. Agbo and co..... The good old days |
As bad as it may sound, earning a honest living though degrading is better than idleness or living a life of crime. |
SuperMartins: Nigeria's issues re too serious! d USA jxt said its a pesticide naim we ban am...if it was in d USA, they would test it secretly on a patient or 2 to be sure but we been puppets to d USA,any tin dem talk,we follow like mumu..its so sad! We no get voice of our own....Have you forgotten? AMERICA WILL KNOW. |
Truckpusher: Wether they were assembled in Nigeria or made in Nigeria as long as they are being rolled out amd jobs are being added to the economy we do not have any problem with that. When did asking a question become hating? Ori iya e ma baje ni. |

Are they MADE in Nigeria or ASSEMBLED in nigeria.? |
NewNigeriaMind: Guy stop this show of lack of intelligence cause we both know you are smarter than that. Are the harassed APC members not voters. You cannot say this election is free and fair when the whole state is militarised, opposition leaders intimated and detained and the obvious show of force to beat the opposition. If anything the people of osun especially the APC members should be commended for showing restraint for a peaceful election. The police is never enough to ensure hitch free elections. Take a journey back in history(since 2003). In which election had there not been reports of ballot snatching, clashes at polling booths and stuffs like that. The heavy military presence has helped to reset the brains of potential thugs to understand the aftermath of their actions. |
ilugunboy: You were not on ground, sp whatever you say here is exclusive to what you read in papers or here on NL..at the risk of sounding immodest....I had people that were on ground in Oshogbo and other parts of Osun, and the things they did in different way from what they did in Ekiti.Bring proof of rigging in Ekiti. Because OBJ didn't deploy large military units, all we hear is ballot snatching, thugs invading polling booths and carting away electoral materials. Nigerians behave when they see the military. Everybody would rather queue than cluster because some fierce looking guys are around. Wait till 2015 general elections when the opportunity to deploy such a large detachment to a state will not be possible and you will see electoral malpractises escalate. |
toluk: .When they win, Its free and fair, when they loose, Its rigging..Bunch of propagandist..That's the Nigerian way of playing politics. Losers Neva accept defeat. |
