The Police Command in Enugu State is investigating a complaint of alleged weakness of male genital organ by Mr Sunday Ebubechukwu, after a handshake with a suspect identified as Anayo.


The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Sunday. Amaraizu said that the incident happened on Sept. 13 within the Obiagu axis of Ogui area of Enugu metropolis.


The police spokesman said that the suspect, simply identified as Anayo, is also a physically challenged person. “The Command, through its operatives of Ogui Division, is unraveling the mystery surrounding an alleged complaint of feeling of weakness of a male genital organ of a man shortly after his handshake with another man in Enugu.


“Sunday Ebubechukwu, on that fateful day, raised an alarm which attracted sympathizers to the scene at Obiagu on the ground that someone whom he allegedly had handshake with may have caused the instant weakness of his manhood. “Thereby causing his manhood dysfunction instantly. It was however, gathered that the alarm he raised prompted sympathizers around to descend heavily on the alleged suspect, Anayo.

“The suspect was said to be receiving beating of his life before police operatives from Ogui Division promptly intervened and rescued him,’’ he said.

Amaraizu said that investigation was being carried out on the incident. (NAN)

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has enjoined beneficiaries of the “Oko owo Dapo” initiative not to see the empowerment programme as their own share of the national cake, but to see it as an avenue for economic empowerment through which they would be gainfully employed, improve their productivity, increase their income level and also become employers of labour.

Abiodun, who made this known at the launching of the “Oko wo Dapo”, an empowerment programme for women, held at the June 12 Cultural Center,Abeokuta, today said that the sustainability of the programme is a bilateral responsibility, adding that government had played its own part by providing the funding.

He, however, urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that the funds were utilized for the purpose it was meant for.

He said that his administration is irrevocably committed to providing a focused and qualitative governance that would create an enabling environment for Public-Private Sector Partnership (PPP) which is fundamental to the creation of an enduring economic development and individual prosperity for the people of the State, adding that more were still coming to cover all the different social strata and sectors of the State economy.


Abiodun added that it was the demonstration of the commitment of his government to make life more meaningful for the people that would encourage the private sector to partner with the state.

In her remarks, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele charged the beneficiaries who were yet to receive their loan to be patient, as the delay could have been as a result of their information not tallying with bank details, adding that the loan was not a dash, but that the loan, if well harnessed could increase.

Earlier, the first lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun noted that the empowerment programme sought to promote small businesses, adding that two thousand women would be empowered.

He is a Nigerian writer who is best known for his works of fiction and popularly known as Yebo Gogo man in adverts in South Africa.

Omotoso’s works employs socio-political issues and with the use of other relevant concerns in his works.

Kole Omotosho has contributed greatly to different African magazines.


He was born in Akure, Ondo state, on April 21, 1943 and was raised by his mother and maternal grandparents. In the 1970s, he was a much sought-after writer as he wrote for many magazines.


Controversy trailed his 1988 historical novel about Nigeria, Just Before Dawn, and that led him to leave the country.

Between 1991 and 2000, he was a professor of English at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa, and became the professor of drama department at Stellenbosch University.

The academic contributes greatly to a number of African newspaper, and well known for Trouble Travels, a column in the Nigeria’s Guardian.

He got a very significant post in the literary community from 2013 to 2016 as the patron of the Etisalat Prize for Literature.


Some of his other fiction works are The Edifice, The Combat, Fela’s Choice Sacrifice, To Borrow a Wandering Leaf, Just Before Dawn.
