He further alleged that he was deliberately excluded from the congress for refusing to engage in what he described as “transactional politics,” adding that threats had been issued against him to silence his objections.

While declining to disclose full details “out of love for the party,” Okoye maintained that the situation, if left unchecked, could destabilize what he described as “the fastest growing political party in the country.”

He called for the immediate removal of the state chairman, accusing him of incompetence and lack of integrity.

Party insiders who spoke on condition of anonymity corroborated Okoye’s claims”.

The Niger bridge was built in 1965. That was before Umahi was born. He travelled on that bridge many times before he got into power, I believe. All those periods nothing went wrong. Traffic was always and will remain there.

He witnessed heavy vehicles breaking down. He witnessed people getting into the east late enroute their home towns for Christmas. He knew that the traffic would always clear up. He cannot feign ignorance to the fact that security agents have always blocked the ends of the bridge to demand money.

How did he imagine in his mind that such a thing as that pavement should be constructed, adding weight to the already troubled bridge? If that pavement was there when he was traveling by transport on that bridge, would he not be part of those accusing government of wrongdoing?

The desire to convince the South easterners that he attracts projects to them, added to the desperation to outdo Mr. Peter Obi has beclouded his sense of judgement. Whether he likes it or not, Mr. Peter Obi will inflict another serious electoral defeat on him in his native Ebonyi state in 2027.

That U-turn makes no sense at all. It is further waste of public funds. Why make a U-turn on the bridge, when you can easily turn you car at any point during your journey on the bridge? The whole length and breathe of the bridge has always been free.
