You and I were created to live in a relationship with God. Until we find that relationship, there will always be something missing in our lives. As a result, we are often aware of a gap. One rock singer described it by saying: ‘I’ve got an emptiness deep inside.’ A woman, in a letter to me, wrote of a ‘deep deep void.’ Another young girl spoke of ‘a chunk missing in her soul.’ People try to fill this emptiness in various ways. Some try to close the gap with money, but that does not satisfy. Aristotle Onassis, who was one of the richest men in the world, said at the end of his life: ‘Millions do not always add up to what a man needs out of life.’ Others try drugs or excess alcohol or sexual promiscuity. One girl said to me, ‘These things provide instant gratification but they leave you feeling hollow afterwards.’ Still others try hard work, music, sport or seek success. There may not be anything wrong with these in themselves, but they do not satisfy that hunger deep inside every human being. Even the closest human relationships, wonderful though they are, do not in themselves satisfy this ‘emptiness deep inside.’ Nothing will fill this gap except the relationship with God for which we were made. According to the New Testament, the reason for this emptiness is that men and woman have turned their backs on God. Jesus said, ‘I am the bread of life’ (John 6:35). He is the only one who can satisfy our deepest hunger because he is the one who makes it possible for our relationship with God to be restored. a) He satisfies our hunger for meaning and purpose in life Only in a relationship with our Creator do we find the true meaning and purpose of our lives. b) He satisfies our hunger for life beyond death Most people do not want to die. We long to survive beyond death. Only in Jesus Christ do we find eternal life. c) He satisfies our hunger for forgiveness If we are honest, we would have to admit that we all do things that we know are wrong. By his death on the cross, Jesus made it possible for us to be forgiven and brought back into a relationship with God. 2.) Why did he come, and why did he die? Jesus is the only man who has ever chosen to be born, and he is one of the few who has chosen to die. He said that the entire reason for his coming was to die for us. He came ‘to give his life as a ransom for many’ (Mark 10:45). Jesus said he died ‘for’ us. The word ‘for’ means ‘instead of.’ He did it because he loved us and did not want us to have to pay the penalty for all the things that we had done wrong. On the cross, he was effectively saying, ‘I will take all those things on myself.’ He did it for you, and he did it for me. If you or I had been the only person in the world, he would have done it for us. St. Paul wrote of ‘the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me’ (Galatians 2:20). It was out of love for us that he gave his life as a ransom. The word ‘ransom’ comes from the slave market. A kind person might buy a slave and set him free—but first the ransom price had to be paid. Jesus paid, by his blood on the cross, the ransom price to set us free. 3.)Freedom from what? John 8:36 GW So if the Son sets you free, you will be absolutely free. Hebrews 2:14-15 GW Since all of these sons and daughters have flesh and blood, Jesus took on flesh and blood to be like them. He did this so that by dying he would destroy the one who had power over death (that is, the devil). In this way he would free those who were slaves all their lives because they were afraid of dying. Jesus paid, by his blood on the cross, the ransom price to set us free. Freedom from guilt Whether we feel guilty or not, we are all guilty before God because of the many times we have broken his laws in thought, word and deed. Just as when someone commits a crime there is a penalty to be paid, in the same way there is a penalty for breaking God’s law. ‘The wages of sin is death’ (Romans 6:23). The result of the things we do wrong is spiritual death—being cut off from God eternally. We all deserve to suffer that penalty. On the cross, Jesus took the penalty in our place so that we could be totally forgiven and our guilt could be taken away. Freedom from addiction Jesus said that ‘everyone who sins is a slave to sin’ (John 8:34). Jesus died to set us free from that slavery. On the cross, the power of this addiction was broken. Although we may still fall from time to time, the power of this addiction is broken when Jesus sets us free. Freedom from fear Jesus came so that ‘by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death’ (Hebrews 2:14-15). We need no longer fear death. Death is not the end for those whom Jesus has set free. Rather it is the gateway to heaven, where we will be free from even the presence of sin. When Jesus set us free from the fear of death, he also set us free from all other fears. 4.) Freedom for what? Scripture Galatians 5:22-23 GW But the spiritual nature produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There are no laws against things like that. Jesus is no longer physically on earth, but he has not left us alone. He sent his Holy Spirit to be with us. When his Spirit comes to live within us, he gives us a new freedom. Freedom to know God The things which we do wrong cause a barrier between us and God: ‘your iniquities have separated you from your God’ (Isaiah 59:2). When Jesus died on the cross, he removed the barrier that existed between us and God. As a result, he has made it possible for us to have a relationship with our Creator. We become his sons and daughters. The Spirit assures us of this relationship, and he helps us to get to know God better. He helps us to pray and to understand God’s word (the Bible). Freedom to love ‘We love because he first loved us’ (1 John 4:19). As we look at the cross, we understand God’s love for us. When the Spirit of God comes to live within us, we experience that love. As we do so, we receive a new love for God and for other people. We are set free to live a life of love—a life centred around loving and serving Jesus and loving and serving other people rather than a life centred around ourselves. Freedom to change People sometimes say, ‘You are what you are. You can’t change.’ The good news is that with the help of the Spirit, we can change. The Holy Spirit gives us the freedom to live the sort of lives that deep down we have always wanted to live. St. Paul tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is ‘love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control’ (Galatians 5:22-23). When we ask the Spirit of God to come and live within us, these wonderful characteristics begin to grow in our lives. 5.) What do we have to do? The New Testament makes it clear that we have to do something to accept the gift that God offers. This is an act of faith. John writes that ‘God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life’ (John 3:16). Believing involves an act of faith, based on all that we know about Jesus. It is not blind faith. It is putting our trust in a Person. In some ways, it is like the step of faith taken by a bride or a bridegroom when they say, ‘I will’ on their wedding day. The way people take this step of faith varies enormously, but I want to describe one way in which you can take this step of faith right now. It can be summarised by three very simple words: ‘Sorry’ You have to ask God to forgive you for all the things you have done wrong and turn from everything which you know is wrong in your life. This is what the Bible means by ‘repentance.’ ‘Thank you’ We believe that Jesus died for us on the cross. You need to thank him for dying for you and for the offer of his free gift of forgiveness, freedom and his Spirit. ‘Please’ God never forces his way into our lives. You need to accept his gift and invite him to come and live within you by his Spirit. If you would like to have a relationship with God and you are ready to say these three things, then here is a very simple prayer which you can pray and which will be the start of that relationship: Lord Jesus Christ, I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life (take a few moments to ask his forgiveness for anything particular that is on your conscience).Please forgive me. I now turn from everything which I know is wrong. Thank you that you died on the cross for me so that I could be forgiven and set free. INsight Yes YESHUA Hamashiach (Hebrew) Was Translated Into Jesus Christ (English) According to the English Bible, the name of the Savior-Son of Elohim, the Most High One, is JESUS. But then, “JESUS” is English and definitely seems odd as a name for the Savior who was born Jewish! The name “JESUS”, being English, could never have been found in the Holy Scriptures that Elohim inspired and caused to be written in Hebrew, from which the English Bible was later made. Simply put, because the name “JESUS” is not Hebrew, it is not part of the inspired Word of Elohim which He led holy men to write! Amazingly, the name “JESUS” never even came to salvation seekers as a result of the translation of any Hebrew name found in the Hebrew Holy Scriptures, as many commonly presume, since names and titles of people are never deemed translatable. Instead, it was deliberately introduced into the Holy Scriptures by some being of evil intent!! Students of the English Bible know that “JESUS” is a name of Greek origin—coming from IZEUS or IOSEUS. Now, IZEUS means something like “The Son of Zeus” while ZEUS is a feared Greek deity! What this means is that, the name JESUS has in it the inextricable substance and value (DNA?) of the Greek deity, ZEUS!! And yet, bible readers have come to accept the name JESUS, which came not from Elohim, but from translators of the Hebrew Holy Scriptures, as belonging to the Jewish-born Savior of the world, who, in all his days in Yisroel, was called by a Jewish name by an entire Jewish nation! Had bible translators not done the work of translating the Hebrew Holy Scriptures that they did, which they even did without the mandate of Elohim, salvation seekers today would never have known the name JESUS given to them in the English Bible as being the only name attributable to the Savior, and thus, would not have been deceived to seek the salvation of Elohim in and by it as they have done! On two occasions, Elohim sent a malach (angel) to give the Hebrew name for His Son—a name that was already known and revered by all malachim (angels) in Heaven—to his would-be “parents” on Earth so mankind would never make a mistake in this, in naming him differently when he was born or in ever referring to him by some other name throughout mankind’s history on Earth. This Hebrew name is “YESHUA”, which means “Salvation”. In as much as all names are of eternal value, being spirit in nature, YESHUA is, no doubt, the name that the Savior is forever known by in Heaven, and must thus be accepted by all on Earth forever and ever. In so far as names are spirit, any change of name must necessitate a change of spirit [being]! Do salvation seekers, therefore, see what danger there is in turning from YESHUA to Jesus?? The question to ask is: Do “Yeshua” and “Jesus” get the same response or have the same effect or recognition in Heaven, when uttered on Earth? Is the spirit known as Yeshua the same as the one known as JESUS? Can any two spirits be the same? Anyway, why was the need for the change in name from YESHUA to JESUS if the two names mean the same or belong to one being? Think about this! Of more curiosity to me is, if the name “YESHUA” is what Heaven recognizes and has ordained for men to profess faith in, so as to receive the salvation of Elohim (Acts 4:10-12), would the name JESUS do same? Dear reader, think deeply about these questions. Have English Bible translators and publishers, in JESUS, given the world a translation for the name YESHUA? Well, not only is it ridiculous for translators to do this, it is also unacceptable because all names and titles, despite the cultures they emanate from, must remain the same everywhere on Earth. They must never be translated. They should only be transliterated. So then, why would English translators treat differently the name YESHUA? The Hebrew title—HaMashiach—meaning “The Anointed One” is conferred on YESHUA by the Good Abba for mankind’s recognition, eternally. Sadly, this Hebrew title has become corrupted to “Messiah” in English in disregard of the fact that everyone is annoyed when his or her name or title is miss spelt, written wrongly, twisted, or pronounced crudely! Well, we know “HaMashiach” means “The Anointed One” because Elohim tells us so; but what does “Messiah” mean? Man may think the English word “Messiah” and the Greek “Christos” both mean “The Anointed One” in much the same way that “HaMashiach” in Hebrew does. But then, that would be man telling himself so, and not Elohim! It is simply out of place for salvation seekers to use man-made words, such as “God”, “Jesus”, and “Messiah”, as they have been misled by so-called “church fathers” and bible-translators to do, in their search of Elohim’s salvation. There are many quotations that translators attribute to the Savior which he never uttered! For instance, they attribute the following verses in the Bible to Yeshua when it is impossible for him to have uttered them: “Ought not CHRIST to have suffered these things, and to enter his glory?” (Luke 24:26); “For GOD so loved the world, that, he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16); and “I am JESUS, whom thou persecutest:” (Acts 9:5); caps mine. Kefa (Peter) is also quoted to have said: “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38), caps mine. I can say with certainty given me by Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) that the Savior neither called himself “JESUS” and “CHRIST”—different from and in disregard of the name and title the Good Abba has given him—nor did Kefa ever utter any of the words “God”, “Christ”, or “Jesus”, for none of these English words existed in Yisroel in his days and were, thus, unknown to him!! The prophecy of Daniel 7:15-25 foretold of a “fourth beast” working to twist the things established by Elohim, and, I dare say, this work is the result of the Great Falling Away of Second Thessalonians 2:3-4 that salvation seekers have been warned of!! The world now seems fully engulfed in deception, through the works of Lucifer and his henchmen preaching a false name and titles for salvation. It is remarkable to note that that the “fourth beast”, working through his assigns, managed to keep all names and titles that are peculiar to his home country from being translated, but translated all Jewish names, including those of the Jewish-born Savior, in the making of the English Bible. Whilst English Bible translators held in high esteem and reverence such names as Caesar, Pilate, Herod, Agrippa, Felix, Festus, etc, and did not dare translate them, they did not show the same reverence to any Hebrew names in the Hebrew Holy Scriptures and so translated them—YESHUA to JESUS, Yitzchak to Isaac, Ya’akov to Jacob, Kefa to Peter, Mattityahu to Matthew, Nakdimon to Nicodemus, Yochanan to John, Sha’ul to Paul, Perushim to Pharisees, Kohen Gadol to High Priest, Rebbe to Rabbi, etc, etc. Let salvation seekers, therefore, beware of names and titles they have believed in their quest for the salvation of Elohim. There is ONLY one name into which Elohim has vested all His wisdom, and will, by which sinners are enabled to secure redemption from Lucifer and from evil influences; and made eligible to enter Heaven! This one and only name is YESHUA HaMashiach, and not JESUS CHRIST! Professing and confessing the name JESUS CHRIST only takes salvation seekers off course, denying them the very salvation of Elohim that they seek. Fashioned By God God loves you because you’re his. He had as much to do with your creation as your parents—even more so because he decided which of their genes you would inherit. You are not some random arrangement of DNA. You were designed intentionally and with a purpose. In Jeremiah 1:5, God tells Jeremiah that he knew and planned for Jeremiah’s life work before he was even conceived. Jeremiah was no more special to God than you are. God’s love for you is just as strong, and his plans for you are even better. God selected your nose, eyes, hair, and basic figure. He chose your height and shoe size. Our good God decided whether you’d be a creative free spirit or a logical thinker. He placed love in you for the pursuits he designed you to follow. But God created my mind and wants to help me control my thoughts. Our choice to follow Christ was made with our minds. The Holy Spirit, “Christ in you,” dwells there. Yes, our hearts and emotions are involved, but as scientists tell us, emotions are seated in our brains. God gave you the brain capacity you have, and he enters this space with his very presence to help you live your life. As a believer, you have a built-in app to help you navigate every day. There is even a speaker option for voice commands. (I’m writing figuratively here but hang with me.) When we read and study the Bible, we “hear” God speaking to us in our heads. It is the transformation of our minds by the spirit of Jesus Christ that allows us to hear him and the desire to obey him. The amount of time we spend reading the Bible and listening for God’s instruction determines the volume of his voice. How much of your thought content would you willingly share with Jesus? How much of it might you be embarrassed or afraid for him to know? Since he already knows it all, now might be a good time to come clean and get it all out there with him. When we agree with God about our sin, it is called repentance. Once we’ve told him all the stuff he knew and patiently waited for us to tell him, then we can move forward. The air becomes quiet, and we can hear the “still, small voice” that guides our days. Just like we need to clear the air with God, we need to clean out our closets of clothes, so we can see what’s in there and wear it all. We don’t need old, outdated, or ill-fitting pieces stashed between the current knock-out items. This only creates chaos. Today, choose five items to eliminate from your closet. Repeat this exercise daily, and before long, you’ll see what a refreshing difference a curated closet can make. 3.) Scripture Galatians 5:22-23 But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these. This list of traits, known to us as fruit, is on the inside. And it becomes expressed through visible actions and audible words. Let’s take a few minutes and think through how each of these fruits might show up in actions. In your journal, write the list of nine traits in a column, one under the other. Beside each one, write some actions that would result from that personality trait. Read Galatians 5:25. Are you keeping in step with God in these nine areas? If not, what might you need to change? Voice a prayer and ask God to help your actions look more like his today. Walking in step with God doesn’t require shoes, but shoes are a vital part of a wardrobe. We need shoes for their function, but they also make a fun accessory. They project an image and can give life to an otherwise boring outfit. Are yours mostly brown or black? Try adding a pair in a vibrant color. You might be surprised by the smile on your face and spring in your step. 4.) Scripture John 15:15 I do not call you servants any longer, because servants do not know what their master is doing. Instead, I call you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. Acts 2:42-47 They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers. Many miracles and wonders were being done through the apostles, and everyone was filled with awe. All the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another. They would sell their property and possessions, and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed. Day after day they met as a group in the Temple, and they had their meals together in their homes, eating with glad and humble hearts, praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved. You Were Fashioned For Fellowship With God And Other Believers Did you have a best friend while growing up? The year I turned seven, Debbie moved into our neighborhood. Our dads worked together, and the two of us hit it off right away. Over the years, we shared secrets and dreams, meals with each other’s families, and participated in all the same activities. We even wrote little stories that we acted out. Jesus called his followers “friends” in John 15:15. What elements of friendship do you find in your relationship with Jesus? Spending time together, sharing our concerns and hopes, reading his words and writing (or telling) your own to Him are all things we need to include for a vibrant relationship with Jesus. Friendship with other believers is also vital. While we may not choose to live in community the way the first church did in Acts, the principles still apply. Sharing meals, worshiping together, and praying with each other draw us into close fellowship. Sometimes, friends can get crossways with each other, but maintaining a positive outlook through daily praise helps minimize those occurrences. Are you connected to a like-minded group of believers? Do you participate in activities every week with them? What is one way you can become a more involved member? Do you have a friend who is honest with you and knows how you think? If you do, take this friend shopping with you when you need to buy the clothes you hate shopping for. A friend can help us make good decisions and lend support on these tough missions. Afterward, stop for coffee or lunch to restore joy and ease any stress that may have built up from the trip. Building a stylish wardrobe is not a do-it-yourself activity.
