According to the Minister of Information, Lai Mohmmed has stated that the Federal Government will not pay any ransom to secure the release of the abducted students and also members of staff of the Government college, Kagara, Nigeria state.

Lai Mohammed said this after an unconfirmed report alleged that the federal government paid N800m to secure the release of the abducted students and staff of the school.

According to Lai, he said;

“We employ kinetic and non-kinetic (measures), you don’t throwaway invitation to engage but the overall strategy you keep to your chest.”

Continuing, he said, “Bandits all over the world work with psychology of people. Deliberately, they target women and children because this is what will attract a lot of global outcry. That is exactly what bandits do all over the world.

“The government has put in place, all along, various strategies to contain banditry, to fight insurgency, to fight kidnapping. Some of these measures are kinetic, some are not kinetic. We didn’t get here overnight and that is why it is difficult to get out one day.

“Criminality in any form will not be tolerated by government. At the same time, government has a duty to look at the underlining causes of some of these criminalities in other to address them.

“I was in Minna with my colleagues, the Ministers of Interior and Police Affairs, the IG, and the National Security Adviser on Wednesday to get a firsthand information on the abduction of these Kagara schoolboys. I can tell you that as at today that the government is on top of the matter.”

Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle has said in a statement that not all bandits who terrorize parts Nigeria are criminals.

Bello made this statement after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa in Abuja today February 18.

He explained that most of the bandits take up arms due to the injustice meted on them by some members of the society.
While Speaking, Bello said;

“Not all of them are criminals. If you investigate what is happening, and what made them to take the laws into their hands, some of them, sometimes were cheated by so-called the vigilante group.
They normally go to their settlements and destroy property and take their animals. They did not have anyone to speak with, so sometimes, they go for revenge. When the vigilante group attacks them, they go for reprisals. That is exactly what happened
Some of them are living in settlements close to villages or towns. When there are military operations, the military will go and destroy their property and animals. They are angry with such actions sometimes. If you are talking to them, you can understand where they are coming from and their problems.
It is important for us as leaders to sit down with them and understand what is the genesis. You can’t just conclude that this person is a criminal. You have to listen to him. What led him to go into such activities?
It is not all Fulanis that are criminals. Some are good citizens, but due to some circumstances, they subscribed to such criminality but when we had the information, we called their leaders and sat with them, they told us their grudges and we sorted out the way the communities and the Fulanis can resolve their issues without any serious crisis.”

It was reported that a Yahoo boy who is identified as Maro has been arrested after he tried to use his romate for ritual in Delta state.

The undergraduate student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara was allegedly with a calabash with his mother’s photo in it.

He was however caught after he had burnt candles and incense required for the sacrifices at their Alvino hostel in the staff quarters area of the institution.

According to reports gathered, the young man already made provision for large ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags that would be used to carry the money after the rituals.

On Feb. 10, 2021, Three students of the Ebonyi state University (EBSU) suffocated while some died after attempting to write a GST exam in a crowded Hall.

A 27yr old Fisherman who is identified as Fatai Yussuf as been jailed for killing and throwing his 6-weeks-old daughter into a Lagoon because she was sick.

It was also reported that he committed this offence on December 27, 2020 at Ajanaku lagoon in Badagry, in the presence of his son who tried to stop him.

It was stated that when he got home that day, His wife asked for their baby but he lied that her brother took their baby to the hospital.

Chief Magistrate, P.E. Nwaka who is handling over the case did not take the suspect's plea. He also ordered that Yussuf be remanded at the Ikoyi Custodial Center pending legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Nwaka then adjourned the case until February 23.

The Men of the Nigerian Immigration Service has arrested an American Lady who is Identified as Kari Ann O’Rourke after killing a Nigerian man, Adebayo Michael Ayomide and attempting to flee Nigeria.

According to the Nation reports, It was stated that O'Rourke arrived in Nigeria with a 24-month Multiple visas on January 7, 2020 and killed Adebayo Michael Ayomide, in her hotel room in Victoria Island where she stayed. She was said to have been on the watchlist of the police who were on her trail.

On February 9, Kari Ann O'Rourke with passport number USA 558565339, arrived at the airport as she plans to travel out via a KLM flight on February 8, 2021. However, due to her expired COVID19 result she was prevented her from boarding the flight as she falls into the hands on the Officers.

She was arrested by officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) at the Qatar Airline counter before she was taken to the NIS duty room and thereafter handed over to the Airport Police command.

According to a source; It was stated that “Mrs. Ann was brought into the duty room about 12:30am 9th February 2021 by an immigration officer and a FAAN Security officer with information about a murder case.”

It was reported that the Ondo state security agency netwok (Amotekun corps) arrested 15 illegal Miners from different locations in Owo local government area in Ondo state.

The arrest was made through the Amotekun and local hunters.

According to the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) Mr Otunba Olusegun Runsewe has made a statement that sex party in Nigeria is worse than COVID19.

The Otunba said this statement during an Interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) In Abuja on sunday.

“In the advert of sex party, they will tell you to come with your condoms, and at the entrance, you will be tested for sexually transmitted diseases and warned that there is no forceful sex.
“In a sex party, for example, 20 men are expected to come with 20 women, and they will be rotating them like dogs, making love on the floor of the dance floor. This is against our culture, values and law of God.
“In 1994, Gambia and Senegal rejected sex tourism and that is what some immoral people without cultural values want to bring to Nigeria.
“Some people may have their differences with El-Rufai, but for me, culturally, I commend him for putting a stop to that anti-God and anti-African activity in his state.
“I know the danger. The moment a girl or guy starts attending sex parties, she or he will never come out from it. It is like a hard drug addiction.”
The director-general said that Nigerians did not know about all these and that was why they didn’t put in seriousness to resisting and speaking against it.
“I was glad when El-Rufai stopped them in Kaduna and with that sex party has gone to rest, but if nothing is done, it may re-surface.
“I am appealing to the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Pauline Tallen, to intervene. She can do something to further ensure that such an evil party is never hosted on Nigerian soil.
“She can go to the National Assembly and demand or sponsor a bill that anybody caught in sex party should spend many years in prison.
“We must not wait till the evil act destroys our country. I am also pleading with the media to help us enlighten Nigerians.
“It is not just a party it is the height of immorality. Our culture and tradition do not tolerate such.”

The National Drug law enforcement agency (NDLEA) In Edo state has seized cannabis which worth N1.4bn in edo state, Ukpuje Forest in the Owan West Local Government Area of the State

It was also reported that 7 suspects has been arrested after having connection with the Cannabis Weighing 233,778 kilograms as it was found in four warehouses.

The NDLEA seized 2,249kg dried weeds and cannabis weighing 231,529kg was destroyed on the farm.

According to the state commander agency, Buba Wakawa, He stated that the seizure was the largest single concentration of cannabis that was discovered by the command.

While speaking further, Buba said

“We took delivery of two new Hilux operational vehicles presented to the command last week. This is the first assignment of the vehicles and it turned out to be the best for the command. We are grateful to the chairman, and this is a clear warning that there is no room for drug barons in the state.
“The warehouses are located in the heart of the forest, yet we were able to uncover them based on intelligence gathering. The cannabis warehouses were located at Ukpuje Forest.
“The community is notorious for cannabis cultivation and trafficking as well as attacks on law enforcement officers, but stood still as a combined team of NDLEA and combatant military personnel overran the drug trafficking syndicates due to our superior fire power.”

The suspects who were arrested are as follow; Emmanuel Oki, 62; one Chief Odi Sabato, 42; Bright Edegbe, 53; Gowon Ehimigbai, 53; Enodi Ode, 37; Ayo Oni, 30; and Akhime Benjamin, 43..

On Friday, Feb.5, 2021, EFCC ( Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) ibadan zonal office has arrested seven internet fraudsters at their hideout in Wisdom Estate, Akobo area of Ibadan as they were aged around 17-29 years.

The suspects who were arrested by EFCC are, Sodiq Oluwasegun, Opeyemi Jamiu, Babatunde Damilare, Adisa Babatunde, Abayomi Taofeek, Oluyemi Kayode, and Ambrose Timothy were arrested at their hideout in Wisdom Estate, Akobo area of Ibadan.

The Items that was recovered from them includes a Lexus RX350 SUV, laptops, different models of expensive iPhones, and several documents containing false pretenses.

According to the EFCC, the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

It was reported that A reporter who works in PUNCH newspaper (Okechukwu Nnodim) has been abducted by gunmen in his house around the Arab road area of Kubwa, Abuja on Wednesday night February 3.

It was not only Okechukwu they kidnapped but they also attacked his Neighbour and went away with the two sons of a widow, Mrs Faith Gbeyide.

According to Okechukwu's wife, Oluchi, She said her husband was working on his laptop when five strange men jumped the fence and entered their compound and ordered them to open the door.

According to the reports, Two siblings who are identified as Ifezue Chiamaka and Ifezue Emeka were arrested and charged for the murder of Make Up artist, Ijeoma Nweke .

It was stated that Chiamaka and her brother Emeka killed Ijeoma because she was having an affair with her Boyfriend.

During the hearing, The Two siblings confessed that they Invited Ijeoma for a makeup job on getting there and suspecting foul play, Ijeoma quickly sent an SOS message to a friend, before she was forced to drink a poisoned substance.

An eye witness who was also present in the court reveled that he saw Emeka pouring acid on the body of Ijeoma after they dumped her corpse at Maryland axis of Enugu Metropolis.

According to the reports, It was stated that a 35-year-old Nigerian man who is identified as Ignatius Chukwujekwu Naruka has been arrested in India after faking a profile on Facebook stating he is a doctor.

Ignatius who lives in Delhi, India was arrested on February 1, 2021.

According to the Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav he stated that Ignatius was admitted that he duped hundreds of women across India.

Kumar Yadav said the latest victim, who was duped of Rs 5 lakh (N2,605,859.66) lodged a complaint with the New Rajendra Nagar police station in Raipur that in December last year she became a friend with the Ignatius on Facebook no knowing he was going to dupe her.

The Nigerian told the woman that he is a doctor and started interacting via mobile and WhatsApp calls.

The accused told the gullible victim he had sent a parcel of gift items.

While Speaking, The Officer said that the Nigerian man tricked the woman to part with Rs 5 lakh in the name of airport and foreign exchange immittances as well as other charges. She also claimed she transferred the money into various account numbers of the Nigerian man.

The victim realized she had been cheated when she found the accused had switched off his mobile phone after getting the money.
