A 26-year-old Nigerian man identified as Unachukwu Chiluba Paulinus was arrested on February 19,2020 for illegally transporting narcotic substances into the country from Cambodia.

Tuesday, April 13, Unachukwu was sentenced to death by The People’s Court of the southwestern province of Tay Ninh, Vietnam

He told police that he arrived in Cambodia in 2019, where he met an African man called Oscar who hired him to transport the drugs from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City for 2,000 USD. He was paid 650 USD in advance.

After traveling by taxi from Phnom Penh to the border, he crossed over into Vietnam and was arrested by Ben Cau district’s police.

He also confessed to having earlier transported a backpack containing drugs from Cambodia to HCM City, which he delivered to an unknown man.

The decision was based on Clause 4 in Article 250 of the 2015 Penal Code, the local media reported.

A 15-year-old South African schoolgirl Lufuno Mavhungu Tshirenzheni committed suicide after she was bullied by fellow pupil at school.

Lufuno Mavhungu Tshirenzheni from the Thulamela Municipality, Limpopo, allegedly committed suicide by overdosing on pills on Monday, April 12, Limpopo provincial police said.

In the video that went viral on social media on Tuesday April 13, the grade 10 pupil from Mbilwi Secondary School in the Vhembe East education district is seen being stopped by two other girls.


One of them signals the other to move while she got closer to the victim to slap her countless times. The victim grabs the pupil who was assaulting her in an attempt to block the blows.

Other pupils can be heard in the background cheering the alleged perpetrator, who is also in grade 10.

Limpopo Education spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene confirmed the incident on Tuesday, April 13.

"The victimised pupil is reported to have since passed away. However, the cause of death is unknown. The department is awaiting a formal report on the cause from the relevant authorities,” said Chuene.

A Nigerian man has been arrested for killing the chief Imam of his town.

Umar Jibril, popularly known as Ba’adama was arrested by the Police in Niger state for stabbing the Imam Chief of Edati to death with an iron rod for allegedly having sex with his second wife.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Adamu Usman, said the suspect carried out the act on Monday, April 12.

When interrogated, the suspect alleged that the cleric was having an affair with his wife. He said that while relaxing in front of his house on the said date in the evening, the Chief Imam walked past him and went towards his neighbor’s house. He said that about the same time his second wife, Aishatu Umar also came out and said she was going to the toilet behind the compound. He claimed that having waited for so long without her return, he went round searching and eventually heard her voice in the neighbor’s house.

“I entered and met the Chief Imam naked on the bed with my wife. They were sleeping together. I didn’t do anything, I left them and went to my brother’s house to report what I saw.” Umar said

Kaduna-born actress and TV presenter, Rachel Bakam is dead at age of 38.

It was reported that Bakam died at a private hospital in Abuja on Tuesday April 13 after a brief illness. Friends and family have all flooded her social media pages to pen down their tributes to her.

Before her death, she was the CEO and Managing Director of Rayzeds Media Ltd, Founder & President of the Nigerian Water Ski And Wakeboard Federation (NWWF).

The last chat I had with Rachel Bakam was on the 1st of April 2021. We chatted a little more about it and signed off. Little did I know that lest than 2 weeks later I wold be the one who received the "bad and troubling news" of her death!!
Rachel was a very inspiring woman ,sister and mother- always had a smile , alway positive and very very clear about her goals. I met her probably 17 years ago in Kaduna through a mutual friend and later on with her then husband Israel Edjeren. More recently, we were in the same Kaduna Creative group where we mentor, support and share opportunities for empowerment - and she was always very active , passionate about any project concerning Southern Kaduna and Kaduna state as a whole- but with a keen focus on helping the less privileged and the displaced refugees across the country.
The lady was always so busy I even used to wonder when she ever got to rest with her packed schedule !
There have ben quite a few deaths recently, but this one hit me hard!!! It hit us all very very hard cos we lost a true gem, the space she occupied , not many can fill today because she had a special flair about what she did and that flair was driven by her passion for her people. She will be dearly missed by us all.

A Nigerian pastor, the General Overseer of Resurrection Praise Ministry, Archbishop Samson Benjamin has gone viral after he protested on Sunday in Lagos against the Buhari administration with a coffin on his head.

Benjamin, popularly known as Jehovah Sharp Sharp, carried a coffin as he paraded through the streets of Festac.


The Bishop claimed God asked him to do so because He wasn’t happy with the government and the state of the nation.

While he was speaking, The Cleric said “a spiritual journey of more than one year”.

“From the 15th of September 2019 up until this moment, I have not eaten food cooked by fire or any pleasant food, I have been seeking the face of God over this great country.
“Last week, I had a mortal vacation, which was a solitary confinement where I didn’t talk to any human to be with the cabinet of the trinity, I didn’t see the sun, moon, clouds.’
“What you are seeing me do here right now is what the Prophets of Old would do. God will ask them to carry a symbol when he wants to pass a message to the leaders of the nation.
“He said to me ‘Go and carry a coffin on your head, it is not furniture or anything for interior decoration, it is good for nothing, it is at the end of the life of a man that he is put into a coffin.”
Benjamin quoted the message he heard: “Tell the leaders that they have intentionally depleted the common resources that belong to this great country and have brought hardship on the citizens, I am not happy with it.”
The Archbishop urged Nigerians to tell the leaders the truth. He described Nigeria as a disappointment to the Lord God almighty “who brought people of various ethnicities together and gave them the resources”
“But those in power have chosen to make the commonwealth of the country their personal property, this is the reason I am carrying this coffin, God is not happy, and he is saying it is not political leaders alone, including the religious and traditional leaders.”
On why he didn’t take it to the Aso Villa, the seat of power in Abuja, Benjamin said God had not asked him to do that yet.
“Human rights is the right of citizens of this country, we have found ourselves in a government that sees you as an enemy when you are being constructive in your criticism.”
The clergyman stressed that the way forward for Nigeria is that those in power need to sit and decide if the country should stay together or not.
“Secession cry is everywhere, the question is, Is it God’s will that all these must happen? We need to sit down at a round table and look at it again what and what put us together, whether those things are still workable today or are no longer workable”, Benjamin said.

Nollywood veteran actor Bruno Iwuoha announced dead at the Abuja National hospital on April 10.

The icon’s death was confirmed by filmmaker, Derik Zai after he posted a tribute to the Nollywood legend on Instagram.


It was reported that Bruno died on Saturday morning after battling with diabetes and glacouma for months.

According to Derik, Chief Bruno has been in coma for about three weeks, and couldn’t be brought back to life.

A Nigerian man has taken on his Facebook to claim that the Grammy award artiste winner, Wizkid is one of the demons in hell.

The man identified as Jossy Thegod on Facebook, said his pastor told him in church that Wizkid sold his soul to the devil for fame.


In a post shared on his Facebook page, Jossy added that the singer’s popular nickname ‘Machala’ is derived from a Greek word that translates to ‘Demon’ in English.

It was reported that a thief broke into a police officer’s house, then climbed into a bed and fell asleep.

The incident took place on March 22 in the Nam Rorn sub-district of Wichianburi in Petchabun province in northeastern Thailand.

Police sergeant Sakda Jiamprasert woke in the night at around 2am and heard the air-conditioner running in his daughter’s room.
Remembering that his daughter had gone away for a few days, the police went outside and peeked into her bedroom window.

There, Sakda saw the burglar, Athip Kinkhunthot, curled up in his daughter's bed, with his housebreaking tools next to him.
Sakda immediately called for backup.

Kinkhunthot, 22, had been fast asleep and was still drowsy when the police officers woke him up.

According to Thai news site, The Nation, the burglar told police that he had been prowling the neighbourhood for quite some time looking for a suitable target and had become very tired.

He broke into Officer Jiamprasert’s house but then decided to take a short break before ransacking the property.

Kinkhunthot turned on the aircon and settled down for a five-minute nap but the next thing he knew it was hours later and he was being ''rudely'' woken by the police.

Although Kinkhunthot hadn’t actually stolen anything, he was still arrested for criminal damage, as well as breaking and entering.

Tito Idakula, the wife of singer Bez Idakula, has revealed that she had two abortions and also dealt with the shame for a long time.

In a viral video that was shared online, It was seen as the Ghanaian police officers were arresting lesbians who were holding a wedding.

The video obtained by GhanaWeb shows police officers shouting and pushing the attendees while making arrests. Police were later forced to grant bail and release the women arrested as there were no available female cells at the local police station.

According to the Local journalist Okwahuhemaa Piesie Afia Pokua witnessed the event and spoke to GhanaWeb about the incident. She said the organizers tried to portray the festivities as a birthday party, but the decorations gave away the real purpose of the gathering in Kwahu-Obomen in the eastern region of the country.

Pokua said the unnamed venue was well decorated for the wedding, with a cake ready to be cut by the newly-betrothed women. The ceremony itself apparently took place in a separate room among a select group of confidants.

While Speaking, she said;

“I had information that some people suspected to be gays and lesbians were having a party and named the party ‘birthday party’ and they had planned to have a marriage ceremony, meaning two ladies were going to get married.

Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has made a statement that all Nigerians must become born again as far as national integration is concerned.


The colloquium, organised to mark the 69th birthday of Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has as its theme: “Our common bond, our common wealth: The imperative of national cohesion for growth and prosperity”.

Ganduje admitted that the level of cohesion in Nigeria is currently at a very low point, saying that if nothing is done to change the narrative, the the divisive variables will pull the country down.


“As far as the issue of national integration is concerned, all Nigerians must be born again,” he said.

It is a mark of true statesmanship that his birthday should be hosted in Kano and celebrated in this way, with a Colloquium that is a fitting reflection of the service that Asiwaju has given, to Lagos, Nigeria and Africa—and with friends & associates joining in from far and wide.
