My suggestion, Call the Canadian High Commission in Ghana (someone has posted the number already) and inform them, they would guide you. If you cannot get through to them before the deadline, go ahead to include your baby details in the IMM0008 form (if requested in your PPR letter) and other documents for the baby like international passport and passport photo. Also include photocopy of your baby's birth certificate as proof/evidence and you can write a brief cover letter stating that you want to add your baby, you have already raised a CSE, the baby's birth date and that the baby came after you submitted eAPR etc. Remxyj: Urgent! Urgent! Urgent! I stated earlier that I raised a CSE and sent a mail to ottawa copying Ghana and London visa office to add my baby to my application before the 15days deadline to submit my passport but haven't gotten any response so I put a call thru today and I was told to contact my local visa office but I don't even know my local visa office so I don't know who to contact and I have like 6-7 days left... please any suggestion? |

That's correct. DHL's new rules. FSOFF: hello House,
Please another clarification, I just went to DHL office to send my passports and I was told that I do not need to send pre-paid return envelope with my package, that once the passports are ready the high commission in Ghana will send me a mail and that is when I'll then go to DHL office to pay for the package to be returned and also a letter of authorization for the high commission to release the passports to DHL. I just wanted to run this by the house for seniors to please help out.
Thanks. |

I think you can reply that mail and cc the email of the visa office you were suppose to mail the passport to. Just state the situation and politely ask for an extension for the reason that you want to get back into Switzerland before sending it. I am sure they will consider. After sending the mail, make sure to follow up with calls until you recieve an acknowledged or reply email. AGVQE: Please i need some please.
Two days ago i received an email from CIC saying, your immigrant visa appears to be ready, you need to send your passport within the next 15 days if not youwill have to reapply.
The issue is i moved to Switzerland a few months ago for work, so i have my work visa etc in the passport. Yesterday i flew to Nigeria for a 2 week break and wedding. If i send the passport off from Nigeria and i do not get it back in exactly 15 days i will not be able to return to Switzerland for work. Possibly get fired depending on how long it takes.
I would like an extension on when to deliver my passport so i can send it from Switzerland when i am back and at work, so even if it takes 3 weeks i will not have to worry.
Please has anyone ever asked for an extension and how did they do it, who so i contact etc. If an extension is not possible what would be the best thing to do. thank you... please this is time sensitive as i have 13 days left but actually if i dont send it in 2 days i will almost certainly not be able to return to Switzerland. |

I think it's better to recieve the money now. Nothing still stops you from doing a gift deed as added insurance... einsteino: 1. takes about 2wks for online results, then hard copy i cant remember 3. no he doesnt count as a relative. immediate family only
for no 2, i am still a learner |

Thanks a million. Really appreciate your reply. MummyJaygirls: If ur relative wants to leave naija this year, he/she should stay away from Vfs. Better use dhl, the visa people even says they prefer courier service.
Tell ur relative to attach the completed IMM0008 form, his/her passport photo and that of dependents (2 each) and their international passport and send it via DHL to

Biko.. another question for the house and those that have submitted passport. Can one use DHL to send the documents and Passport requested for in the PPR letter to the Embassy instead of VFS? Which Embassy (the Canadian embassy in Ghana? or is there a canadian embassy in Nigeria??)... the letter my relative received is not very clear on where to send the requested items to. |

Yes you can but you need to prepare a gift deed that will be signed by both you and your dad. This states that your dad gave you the money for the purpose of immigration, that the money is not tied down and readily available and is given to you with his consent. Many people have done this and they have gotten ppr. keji11: Hello everyone, I earn 50k monthly, please concerning gift deeds, my dad promised to transfer the 3.7m into my savings account because I don't have the money for the pof and being backed up with affidavit. Please I can only leave this 3.7m for only 2months in my account before I submit eAPR. Hope I am fine with the 2month |

Hi everyone, in the spirit of giving back, I’ll drop my POE experience as best as I can remember. Still getting accustomed to the time difference though…. Flew Qatar Airways at 32+ weeks plus as a FTM from Lagos to Dallas via Doha. I had previously gotten a signed doctor’s fit to fly letter, signed/stamped MEDIF form and signed/stamped Medical certificate form via my Doctor and sent same to the Qatar email address (losreservation@ng.qatarairways.com) 4 days before my travel date & obtained an approval mail from Qatar Airways a day to my departure date. I arrived Lagos MMA International and on passing my bag through the scanner at the entrance, I was asked by the security guy what I had in the rubber container in my bag (**I had packed a small rubber container of oil which was frozen**). I promptly told him the contents and he initially seized it telling me it was supposed to be prohibited but later allowed me to take it in.
On checking in my bags at the check in counter, a customs officer again saw the oil in the rubber container, asked if it was frozen and allowed me carry it (even helped me hide it…lol). The rest of the Check in process went smoothly, I was only asked for my fit to fly documents which I gave to the staff at the check in counter (I had at least 5 copies each of the doctor’s fit to fly letter, MEDIF, Medical certificate, approval email from Qatar and even port health fit to fly all stapled together – thanks to the meticulous nature of DH; he made sure every document I needed for the trip from doctor’s correspondence letter, US embassy response, hotel booking, budget sheet, prepaid hospital receipt etc. was printed, with backups to detail). The guy at the counter was really impressed and exclaimed “I see you came prepared oh”. He asked who printed all these documents, I told him it was DH and he just nodded & smiled. I completed check-in, went through Nigerian immigration like a breeze and boarded the plane to Doha.
……..Fast forward to Doha where I had a layover of about 8 hrs. Check in for the flight from Doha to Dallas and while waiting to board the plane, I was called out and a white American Man (looked cool & calm and was wearing a nice suit) approached me. I kinda of suspected he was with US immigration/ CBP. He interviewed me as follows;
White American Man: Why are you travelling to the US? Me: For childbirth White American Man: Why the US? Me: For better health care White American Man: Have you contacted a Doctor/Hospital and do you have a doctor’s correspondence? Me: Yes I have. White American Man: How much will it cost? Me: Bleep* White American Man: How much is your budget? Me: Bleep* White American Man: How much do you have on you? Me: Bleep* in cash and Bleep* in my card White American Man: Do you work? Me: No I don’t but my husband does. White American Man: what does your husband do? Me: My husband is an Engineer. He works with “bleep*” company White American Man: Oh! He’s an Engineer, that’s cool. (He nodded his head & smiled).
He became more friendly and even engaged in small chit-chat about if I had checked the sex of my baby, what I wanted (I told I wanted a boy) etc. He then said “Don’t worry you will have a boy (i.e. be it unto you according to your word.. lol). Thereafter I was allowed to board the plane. The air hostesses were very friendly and nice. The head air-hostess introduced herself and told me to inform her if I needed anything. I immediately asked for a seat where I could stretch my legs and she got me a row where I had all 3 seats to myself so I could stretch as much as I like and be comfortable. I got all the help and assistance I needed including lots of water to stay hydrated, extra lays potato chips, blankets etc.
Doha to Dallas flight time – approx. 16hrs; definitely not for the fainthearted.
……..Fast forward to Dallas POE Landed about 5:00pm local time and exited the plane with my backpack. Someone got a wheel chair for me and wheeled me to the POE where I met a long line of passengers. I was then wheeled to the front of another line where there were self-service machines. Tried twice to use the self-service machine but my passport and visa page was not scanning so I was wheeled to meet the CBP officer. The following ensued;
Me: Good afternoon (smiling n hands passports and immigration landing card) CBP Officer: Why are you in the US? Me: For Child birth CBP Officer: Do you have a Dr’s correspondence and what is your Dr’s name? Me: Yes I do. His name is Julio No….Can’t remember his surname. Would you like to see the Doctor’s letter? * *I made gesture to show him the Doctor’s letter but he waved it off**. CBP Officer: No, that won’t be necessary. Have you prepaid your medical bill? Me: Yes, I have paid half of it. CBP Officer: How much do you have on you? Me: Bleep* in cash and Bleep* in card. CBP Officer: (nodded his head). Already started stamping my passport. CBP Officer: That means you are gonna stay at Extended Stay America, Elpaso? Me: No, I will stay at Bleep*
He gave me back my passport and I noticed he stamped me in for 6 months. That was it. He didn’t ask me how long I wanted to stay, no documents checked, no secondary inspection. All my documents remained in my bag pack. Total time at the POE was less than 10mins.
Went straight to Agric, where my bags were passed through the scanner. Was asked what I had in them and I told them I had dried crayfish, garri, melon seeds etc. My bag was handed back to me and I was allowed to go it....nothing was seized (was grateful my oil wasn’t seized), infact one of the officers even helped me with my bag.
I subsequently boarded my connecting flight (American Airlines) to Elpaso. On touching down at Elpaso, couldn’t find my bags, so I made a formal complaint at the airlines counter and was told my bags were still somehow in Dallas. I was asked for a forwarding address and the colour of my bags which I supplied and then took a cab to my Hotel accommodation. Bags were delivered next day at my accommodation and even though I discovered they were opened by TSA (Transportation Security Agency) nothing was taken or seized. I thank Baba God that nothing was seized because I love my naija delicacies cooked with naija ingredients especially the oil.
Currently making beans and plantain in my hotel accommodation and awaiting the arrival of my LO. Thank God for HIS goodness and the safe trip!
I hope this helps someone planning to travel through Qatar Airways to Dallas. Sorry for the long post. |

Hi Please were you eligible for a hotel at Doha & if not please where did you stay? Did you stay at the lounge? Hoow do I submit my filled and signed Qatar medif and medical clearance certificate? Is there actually a Qatar email address that I can send it to. Thanks for your response. drafrican: spoke about this earlier their poe is in the USA not doha left on the 5th of April have ur drs report and FAAN medical certificate if you are less than 32 weeks and submit it upon check in
if you are over 32 weeks one week before u fly get your MEDIf form from qatar or download online and have a dr fill it, it must be submitted 48 hours before you fly and you must obtain an approvsl from qatar before you fly along with this MEDIF form you need the FAAN medical cettificate snd your dr's fit to fly.
qatar is in the habit of returning passengers to naija at checkin to the USA if you are noticed to be pregnant snd dont have the MEDIF form because their flight is long and you are a high risk passenger.
thats where the story about poe being in doha came from but its not true, they are just strict about flying pregnant women. |

kemex: Thanks. I posted the transcript here. Only few people reacted to it. The second denial was so gross. She didn't give any reason. Seemed like the consular officer did not just like the idea of a birthing trip. At the third interview, I was asked about my hubby, if I'll be needing help and if i have a family in Texas. The VO sounded like it's not realistic to stay in an extended stay apartment for the long period of a birthing trip and as if one must definitely need help. Guess after checking my denial history, she just felt enabled to deny me.
Mbok, if you're using Dr Para Ti, kindly contact me. Thanks. Hi, please don't give up, expecially if your EDD is not very close. That might just be the miracle you are waiting for. |

I want to renew the passport before she travels, but I was told that immigration do not have 32 pages passport that what they have is 64 pages and it's for frequent travelers, diplomats and businesses men. I want to know if I obtain the 64 pages passport for her, will she encounter any type of delay/hindrance while traveling... Thanks guys I doubt she would have any issues. My DH renewed his intl passport early this year and got the 64 pages. He has travelled once with it and did not experience any issues or delays. |
