LANDING GIST

My PPR came Apr 22. I did my first semester online and rounded up end of June. My next semester is Fall, September 1st. I travelled on July 19th via Ethiopian Airlines. I thank God for journey mercies.

At the Nigerian airport, I went with 2bags weighing a little over 23kg, my carryon bag and bag pack. I practically settled every airport personnel that I came in contact with N200 each, lol (I made sure I had plenty change). My sister accompanied me to the airport and I had to settle the police guy at the door N500 to allow my sister in (thank God she followed me in cuz she had to help me go and be making photocopies). Please ensure you go to the airport with photocopies of ur passport data page, 2 copies of your covid test result and a copy of your vaccination card (front and back).

I was asked to declare my bag( a ghana-must-go) bag for food (to reduce weight as most luggage already weigh so much even without having anything in it). I paid N2,000 for that.

Moving on to another counter, I was asked to provide my admission letter, enrollment letter, ArriveCAN, proof of school fees payment, my covid test results and vaccination card with their copies. The lady took a picture of everything and asked me to wait until they get approval that I can fly. Shortly after, approval was given and I was cleared to leave. I settled the immigration officers as well and the rest was history. I boarded my flight at 1 and we took off by 2pm. The food was good but small, I took curry meat sauce as the lady that sat beside me said the chicken sauce wasn't too good.

I arrived Toronto and we went through immigration were I was asked for the purpose of why I was here, my admission letter, enrollment letter, ARRIVECAN, vaccination card, school payment receipt, transcript and all what they asked for in Nigeria. I was asked when my study will be concluded and after all questions were answered, the immigration officer said that she will include an extra 3 months to my study permit to allow me apply for my PGWP, my work Authorization was also included in the study permit. It was a smooth and favourable journey to the glory of God Almighty.

Congrats to all those who just got PPR and I wish all PPR hopefuls the very best. May Canada favour us all. AMEN!!!

I forgot to add that I received an arrival covid test kit to use and test myself when I get to my final destination which was Alberta. When I got to my final destination, I registered online for the test and was directed to a video call where an online doctor observed me as I did the covid test on myself. Thereafter, I put the sample in the bag that was provided and left it in front of my house. They came to pick it up. Result came out negative after 2 days.

Also note that I did my covid test at afriglobal 24hours before my trip as the result takes about 24hours to come out and it cost N50,400 plus interswitch charges that brought it close to almost N52k in total. . Here is the link to book appointment and pay online for your covid test
http://Bookings.afriglobalmedicare.com

Remember to print 2 copies of your covid test result before travelling.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for this. I will also ask around, I am going to Alberta though.

lightswitch007:

I read on a blog if you have a Full Nigerian driver's license. (Not temporary & Not Probationary license) with more than 2 years of driving experience. You will request for driver's license letter from the Nigerian embassy in Ottawa. You will take a vision test and a written test, if you pass you don’t need to take the G2 Driving Exam, you can apply for the Full G driving Exam. Idk if this is still valid, Gurus can advise more on this.

Thanks a lot for this, I will do as advised.

FYsol:
Dont waste your money. You are perfectly fine with Nigerian driver license for your 1st 3 months before you get their own. I have been using my Nigerian driver licence for over 2 months and I even used it to register and to obtain car insurance.

What you should get is a letter of attestation from FRSC.

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by elizyous: 11:23pm On May 22, 2021
I did mine in Lagos and it took 2 weeks. Except u are planning to travel immediately, you can do Lagos and it saves you money for courier to abuja and transmission fee.

Alchemist01:
For people that have done Passport stamping recently after PPR, which is faster to get your passport stamped and returned back to you ?

VFS LAGOS OR VFS ABUJA ?

I have been hearing that VFS lagos is slower, can someone who has done this recently state their experience ?

I am trying to weigh my options to get my passport back asap.

Hello people! I say make I pop in and see how things are going. I got my PPR back in April 22. School started May 3rd and I must confess that its been tasking!

School there is no joke oh, I barely have time for myself. God will help us all. I am still in Naija as sch work no let me see road to plan travel.

Those still expecting PPR, pls dont give up, no problem lasts forever, it will surely end in praise. Trust in God, He will perfect what He started.

Please I was going to ask a question, how soon can I apply for SOWP for my spouse and study permit for my children? @Frankrobhin please can you advise me?

Did u ever get a tracking number from VFS? you can chat with their customer care help desk via their website. They will answer u almost immediately.

Psychosocial:
Please guys, I need help o.

My PPR package has been refused twice by the VAC, without any reason at all. I enclosed my passport along with all the required documents, and proof of payment of the Transmission Fee, and addressed it to the Abuja VAC office. I paid for a return-courier via UPS. Funny thing is the package easn't even opened before it was refused, so I cannot know what the exact problem is. Even reaching the VAC by phone is almost impossible because the call goes off once you select the option of speaking with an agent. The email I sent when the package was refused initially has still not been replied. This is quite a strange case.

Apart from trying a different courier service, is there anything I can do differently??

It still wont work, remarks are usually better with writing and even that cant fetch u more than 0.5 to 1 point up.

Pls resit and go on YouTube to download test questions to practice with. All the best.

I think you should request for a remark if you're sure of how well you performed. There's no harm in trying.

@Frankrobbn1 pls what about those of us who dont have coop letter and filled NO to the question when we were applying for visa? What will be our answer at the port of entry.

Congrats to all those who recently got PPR. May God grants the desires of all hopefuls here in JESUS NAME! AMEN! WHAT GOD CANNOT DO DOES NOT EXIST.

Frankrobbn1:

Apologies for the late response. At the point of entry, you should provide a confirmation letter from your school which indicates that Work is a component of your program. The immigration officer will issue you a work permit at that point.

It will end in praise
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by elizyous: 11:18am On Apr 23, 2021
Thanks so much for this. Yes its clear

Pinkey2021:

All students are permitted to work for 20hours a week, that’s the standard policy. The evidence of work requirement you’re asking about is Co-op and it’s not all programs/courses that have it included in their program structure.

So if your course has Co-op you choose ‘Yes’ to that question and provide your evidence, if not you choose ‘No.’

So, whatever you chose there has no effect on your 20hours work eligibility granted to all students.

I hope I was able to provide clarity to your question.

{It’ll Surely End In Praise for us All}

Thanks oh.

I applied initially with MBS in February. The requested for it again in April. I guess they wanted to be sure the money was mine and stilll there.

Please always leave the money in ur account throughout ur application process. You never know!

Dynatotita:
Congratulations once again. For the additional MBS request, did they specify the period? If not what changed between the old one submitted and the new one?

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by elizyous: 9:58am On Apr 23, 2021
With a study visa, are you allowed to work 20hours a week even though on your form u stated NO to the question, do u have recourse to work......
?

Please respond.

olasubomy:
Hello, house, I thought to share with you feedback on a webinar we "( my school)" had online with an official of IRCC today. I specifically asked him if it is true that international students can work more than 20 hours per week due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

He debunked it and said we are only allowed to work 20 hours per week and that we should be careful of taking information that cannot be verified on the IRCC website so as not to spoil our immigration record.

He mentioned they gave that leverage to those that were supporting the health sector and that they have stopped it.

I thought to share this feedback because I know it would be useful to many.

Cheers!

LONG POST ALERT!!!

Only a fool will say that there is no GOD! I have seen him at work in my life and I am a living testimony that He answers prayers in line with His will for you and me.

This journey started 2years ago when I initially wanted to do express entry but my score wasn’t high enough. I wrote IELTS back then and got an 8,8,8,6.5 in S,R,L and W respectively. I contested the writing score and to God’s glory, after 3 weeks it came back approved and my writing score was increased to 7 bringing me to an overall band score of 8.

Fast forward to last year October when I suddenly decided that I wanted to try the study route out and saw a course I like but it was one week to the deadline. I quickly gathered my documents and submitted a few days before deadline. I applied to just one school with faith. To GOD’s glory, I got the admission! 2nd hurdle crossed lol.

I was advised by a friend to ready up everything about packaging my application from Nairaland and I turn this platform to my new bible, digesting every detail from Thread 13 all the way from writing my SOP to how I arranged my documents. I even read from someone’s testimony here, to use my office email when applying which I also did. Thank you all for your immense contributions on this platform. You are saving lives!!! I packaged my application without using any agent, all to the glory of GOD ALMIGHTY. I arranged my documents using table of contents for each section as advised here.

Funny part is that when I submitted my application with full NSE, I was expecting that in one month, my visa would have arrived. This one became a serious test of faith but God is always faithful. Imagine being sent for biometrics 1month after applying as against the usual 1 week of other people. I sent webforms and emails once every week, all the way to the same day I got my PPR and they kept responding with their usual email of its actively under control.

One thing I would suggest is that if you are yet to do your medicals, pls do and send to them. It saves you a whole lot of waiting because when they are checking ur eligibility, rather than sending u to go and do medicals which will take more time, its approved immediately.

My timeline is below:

Application Date: February 4th, 2021 (I submitted my application with all the requirements for NSE route)
Upfront Medicals: February 26th, 2021
Upfront medicals passed: March 2nd, 2021
Biometrics Request Date: March 5th, 2021
Biometrics Done: March 8th, 2021
Request for MBS: April 9th, 2021
Submission of Additional Document (MBS): April 12th, 2021
Eligibility review started: April 13th, 2021
PPR and BVL!!!!! April 22nd, 2021

As at yesterday morning, I was still begging God to give me this as my birthday gift and lo and behold at 9:23am, my love letter dropped!!! I laughed, cried and rolled on the floor in my office. I couldn’t sleep all night, my mind has been racing on different things, truly-problem no dey finish, lol. Please pardon my long epistle.

God is too faithful to fail! He did it for me and will do it for everyone on this platform that is expecting. And to the gurus in the house who constantly help and give advice, may GOD bless you and grant all your hearts requests. AMEN
