The family ought to be the primary agent of change but reverse is the case. That being said, those at the top (leaders) should enact strict laws that would keep the people in check... The first law should be; death penalty awaits whosoever deem it fit to loot, engages in corrupt practices or cause pain and suffering (Terrorism/killing/assassination, kidnapping, stealing, internet fraud etc), I can tell u that people will do the right thing knowing the consequences of their actions. Politics won't be lucrative anymore, only those with the love for the country would want to partake in it even without receiving a dime as salary.

Btw, it's a pity larger percentage of Naija ladies aren't concerned with intelligent discourse but only frivolities.

Apt !!! We have same line of thoughts

To all those who think there's no racism

I feel no pity for those black kids. Their parents wanted that for them. Reason being that, they know fully well that it is an all white school yet they sent their kids their just to make a statement to their fellow blacks that they are better off.

Nonsense !!!

HeavenlyCherub:

I love God and I am fully aware no relationship is perfect. I never made him a houseboy infact I still carried out my duties as his girlfriend. My ex still wants to work things out and remain friends. If I was as bad as you say I am would he still want to be with me. Money is not everything. My family is well off, money has never been a issue to me. I'm also not the type to leech off my parents. I have made it on my own and I thank God every day. Most kids from homes like mine end up not working hard at all. Anyway I loved him and I always will. But for my sanity I need to let go.

Maybe at the time he didnt notice, he keeps on referencing that I dont need him if we break up I have my job, property and family to fall back on but he has no one and needs to support his family. These talks were now a burden on me. He started becoming aggressive, angry and jealous. When I do anything I would always say its ours not mine.

I truly believe a man is the head of a home no way I would want to dominate. I'm not saying I was perfect but I did my best to love him it was never enough. He said I never respected him but I did. Inferiority got the best of him.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a bad looking woman and I had well to do men after me. It's sad because all I wanted was him.

Thanks OP. You just proved the point I was trying to make. I did not ask you if you are from a well off family or if you have landed properties, yet you felt you should tell me. Why? To feel better about yourself I guess.

Please, let the poor boy be. I still insist you wanted to turn him to your houseboy. Talking like you were doing him a favour by dating him.

Heed to the advise of your fellow ladies and go for your class, where you both will wake up every morning and read out your accomplishments to each other.

Leave the poor guy alone !!!

I pity these guys above me calling the OP correct babe. Because she said she was working class and had money. Do not be deceived brethren, I know her type.

She is just trying play the victim card. Why won't the guy become insecure when you want to turn him to your houseboy because of the little change you think you have.

I can confidently bet on my balls that you subtly rob it on the poor guys face that you have more money than him, either knowingly or unknowingly.

Gracias !!!!

Lolz....lecturers are always like that..encouraging LA cram LA pour......don't worry... After school..you will see who will make it better.....mistakes most students make is thinking academics is everything..after 1st class and 2.1..then what?.... People need to learn than there is more to life than academics......that is why most successful people though intelligent look at the larger picture..seun left oau and we what his creation has become..even the best graduating student in his set will probably earn at most 500k if lucky...seun wet be drop put dey make millions weekly.. Guys should be wise..I learn late though..but at least not too late

I see.

I had my first and only carryover in my 200 level first semester which left me devastated. I later made friend with a course mate that had a perfect 5.0 cgpa in 100 level. And I learnt his secret, grin say na cramming win am.

There is nothing wrong with cramming though neither is anything wrong with academic excellence. My argument is that we can come up with a better way of assessment other than the status quo.

What's the question again? remind me. grin

What do exams really test in students?

Is it critical thinking? In depth understanding of subject matter? Or ability to memorize (cram)?
Education / Re: What Do Exams Really Measure? by eljay22: 9:56am On Feb 09, 2018
BruncleZuma:
Exams by the Nigerian standard is a summative method of assessing knowledge. Examinations are not a perfect measurement of competency as the style used in our country doesn't take into consideration the difference in individual learning styles and capabilities.

Thanks for your input.

But if our exams only measures ones ability to memorize and reproduce those facts.

Is that not a faulty system? Its no longer a level playing field, as it place those who find it easy to memorize stuff at an advantage.

He probably has a retentive memory; the ability to remember what you read or what you're taught. cool

However, having understanding on other areas of knowledge is a process often accomplished through self-education based on personal interest.

Obviously, he would be better than he is (even better than you and your so-called genius of friend ofcourse grin) at the moment if he steps out of his enclosed chamber (academic success).
grin

But you didn't answer the question.

What do exams really test in students?

(Back story) I had a discussion with one of our lecturers yesterday, and he was heaping praise on a course mate of mine who has been performing very well right from 100 level (we are in final year at the moment).

The reason for my question is that, this said course mate hardly answer questions or make valid contributions in class. And I have engaged him severally on topics related to and diverse from our field of study but wasn't really impressed with his depth of knowledge for somebody that has a CGPA of about 4.7 in final year.
Ask him for clarifications on some concept taught, and he only repeats what was in the note given by the lecturer or textbook, without his own input to show he really has a grasp of the subject matter.
Yet, I have other course mates that have a broad understanding on many areas of knowledge, but are not doing quite well on paper (grade wise) like this person in question.

What exactly do theoretical exams measure in our institutions?

Is it critical thinking? In depth understanding of subject matter? Or ability to memorize (cram)?

The bride is obviously not happy with the decision.

Its written all over her face. She probably isn't wearing no make up not by choice but because thats what her groom wants.

Romance / Re: Hotel In Gombe State Warns Guests Against Fornication, Adultery And Promiscuity by eljay22: 4:58pm On Feb 06, 2018

Hope you are not implying that this has islamic undertone. It sounds more of a Christian thing to me because I don't think Muslims really condemn fornication the same way Christianity does. Fornication is sex between two unmarried people, and Christianity also forbids sex between fiance & fiancee. On the contrary, i have not heard that courting couples are forbidden from sexual activity in Islam (I stand to be corrected though).

Methinks the hotel management is talking from Christian perspective. Remember that Gombe has significant Christian population and they practise muslim-christian ticket in state election.

But who runs hotel business with this mindset?

I've seen that caveat in hotels in sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi state.

And for your info Hausa girls do ashawo too albeit they are more discrete and hypocritical about it.

Sorry, if my comment hurt your feelings.

And my dear Nigeria is suffering from the five major worries in the world.

Well .... This just goes to substantiate my argument I always put up that one of Nigeria's biggest problems is overpopulation but so many refuse to see it.

The world sef is overpopulated !!!!
