Femi Adesina, the spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari, has said the corruption ranking of the country is about Nigerians and not the government. He said Nigerians share in the blame of the country’s bad ranking in Transparency International’s (TI) corruption perception index (CPI). In 2017, Nigeria dropped from 136 in 2016 to 148 on the index of TI. Speaking during a Channels Television’s programme on Monday, Femi Adesina said the ranking is about Nigerians and not the federal government. He said; “My position is that that ranking is not strictly about government, it is about Nigeria and her people. Some people want to make it seem as if it is a vote of no confidence in government or a lower mark for government, I don’t agree,” “I think it is a lower mark for the people, because the people constitute the country. And I think if things do not seem to have worked as they should work, the people also have part of the brunt; they have part of the blame to bear.” He also chided TI for the ranking, saying the country does not need it to verify whatever effort the current administration is making in anti-graft war. He added; “As much as I respect Transparency International, I don’t think we necessarily need them to authenticate what is going on in the country because we Nigerians know that there is a war against corruption ongoing and that war is succeeding. There are strides being taken. We may not be there yet but we are on our way there,” he said. “So, let no agency from any part of the world come to think that whatever it says is the gospel to us. It can help, it can inform what is happening but it s not something that will be a milestone round the neck of government.” https://newsdey.com/2018/10/femi-adesina-says-corruption-ranking-is-about-nigerians-not-government/ lalasticlala Mynd44

No fewer than 23 cows have been killed by thunder in Ekiti state, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. Nigerian entertainer, Falz, recently shared his thoughts on the the idea of religion in the country as well as the poverty state of the nation as it celebrated 58 years after independence. Speaking to Daddy Freeze in a recent interview, the young rapper spoke on the practice of Christianity in Nigeria. He revealed that he hasn’t been to church in a while and his own idea of fellowship is directly communicating with God as opposed to being a church building, where you have to drop offering. Daddy Freeze is known for always drawing light on matters that most people have questions about. Ab initio, Freeze has been against the idea of tithing in churches and in his opinion, instead of enriching pastors, people can actually make a difference in the lives of the less privileged with their ‘tithers.’ READ ALSO: Actress Princess Shyngle shares video of her dancing in a see-through outfit It appears Falz understands the stance of the controversial media personality. Chinese smartphone maker Huawei trolled Apple by driving a van past the U.S. tech giant’s flagship London store on Friday, as the iPhone XS and XS Max went on sale. The Huawei van was serving juice to passers-by with the tagline: “Get ju%ce that lasts,” followed by “No traces of Apple.” The reference was to battery life, with Huawei claiming its phones last longer. Apple’s flagship devices went on sale Friday with the technology giant hoping the smartphones will help boost revenues, profit and the average selling price. Huawei is trying hard to challenge Apple. It recently overtook the iPhone-maker as the second-largest smartphone manufacturer by market share. It’s not the first time the Chinese tech titan has tried to upstage Apple. During the Apple launch event in San Francisco earlier this month, Huawei Mobile’s official Twitter account sent out posts mocking the new iPhone without naming it. While Huawei has overtaken Apple on a global basis, it still trails the U.S. firm in the premium segment of the market, according to Counterpoint Research, which defines premium as handsets that are priced $400 or more. In the second quarter of 2018, Apple captured 43 percent of the premium smartphone segment versus 9 percent for Huawei. https://newsdey.com/2018/09/huawei-trolls-apple-iphone-x-launch-in-london/
