Internally Displaced Persons, IDP Children who live in a camp in the outskirts of Bauchi, are now feeding on onion leaves over hunger.  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondents who visited the camp located about two km from Rindebin community in Bauchi Local Government Area, reported that the children between the ages of three and five, looked pitiful as they consume the leaves.Parents of the IDP children feeding on onion leaves over hunger, said they had to ‘ improvise’ ways of tackling hunger with onion leaves as it is nutritious and would also protect their children from hunger and diseases.

“Both adults and children suffer from hunger; this has resulted in forcing us to eat raw onion leaves from sellers that come into the camp. Rainy season is about to set in and another fear is the outbreak of childhood diseases. Because for the past year, our children were not immunised and there are no water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.“We defecate in the bush and the rainwater will soon wash our faeces back to the stream, where we source for water to drink,” one of the parents said.

It was further observed that children under two years in the camp, were showing symptoms and signs of malnutrition.

Can you guys believe that these nuisances give only 3 hrs power daily yet their estimated bill is 6,000 naira monthly.


2 hrs from the hours of 8 to 10 pm (that is if you see power at all)
And from 4:30am to 5:30am.




It used to be 9 hrs daily and no one complained. They then reduced it to 6.

Now it's down to 3.

(NAN)President Muhammadu Buhari has pooh-poohed claims by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that they won February 23 presidential election and has underscored his victory by showing that he beat Atiku in his polling unit in Adamawa.

Buhari describes the claims as laughable because Atiku has never won any political contest with him (Buhari) and because he is more popular and acceptable among the electorate than the ex-Vice President.

Buhari, in his response to the petition filed before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja by Atiku and the PDP, challenging the outcome of the February 23, 2019 presidential election, noted that he even defeated Atiku in his (Atiku’s) polling unit in his home state of Adamawa.

He wondered why Atiku thought he could secure victory on the platform of a political party (the PDP) he (Atiku) had previously derided and described as a dead party, and one which was beyond redemption.

The President, who is listed as the 2nd respondent in the petition marked: CA/PEPC/002/2019, said in his response filed on April 16, 2019 by his team of lawyers, led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN) said: “At every previous instance, whether at intra-party or inter-party contests, where he and the 1st petitioner (Atiku) had vied, he has always been the preference of the electorate and/or delegates.

“In particular, at the primary election conducted by the 3rd respondent (APC) in 2014, to pick its presidential candidate for the 2015 election, the 1st petitioner and the respondent (Buhari), amongst others, were the candidates; and while the respondent polled 3,430 votes, the 1st petitioner came a distant third with 954 votes.

“The 1st petitioner was at all material times prior to his decamping to the 2nd petitioner (PDP), shortly before the presidential election, a member of the 3rd respondent (APC).

“The 1st petitioner contested the presidential primary election of the 3rd respondent with the respondent in 2014 and after the respondent (Buhari) defeated him to a distant third place, the 1st petitioner joined the campaign train of the respondent immediately after the primary election, traversing all over the country and rightly declaring to all and sundry that respondent was the best choice available to the country for the position of President.

“On joining the 3rd respondent, the 1st petitioner consigned the 2nd petitioner to the grave, describing it as a dead party that is beyond redemption.

“The 1st petitioner could not have won the presidential election under the platform of a political, which he abandoned and described as having gone beyond redemption.

“The respondent enjoys a wide acceptability across the federation and is more popular and acceptable to the electorate than the 1st petitioner, leading to the respondent securing more votes than the 1st petitioner, even at the latter’s polling unit in Adamawa State.

“In the polling unit where the 1st petitioner registered for the election, while the 1st petitioner polled 167 votes, the respondent scored 186 votes.”

The All Progressive Congress (APC) and the winner of the February 23, 2019 Presidential Election, has filed a motion at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja that the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the poll, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not a Nigerian and therefore not qualified to have stood for the election.

The Party claimed that the former Vice President is a Cameroonian and not a Nigerian citizen and his petition against President Muhammadu Buhari, its own candidate, should be dismissed for lacking in merit.

In a reply to the petition of Atiku and the PDP praying for their declaration as the lawful winner of the presidential poll, the APC said that the 11.1 million votes recorded in favor of the two petitioners should be voided and considered a waste by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The APC’s reply to the petition, filed by its lead counsel, Lateef Fagbemi faulted the candidacy of Atiku in the election insisting that as a Cameroonian, he ought not to have taken part in the presidential poll of Nigeria in the first instance.

The Party averred that Atiku was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa, in Northern Cameroon and is, therefore, a citizen of Cameroon and not a Nigerian by birth.

Following Success' viral video which has attracted attention of many Nigerian celebrities after she was was sent home for her school fees, the Delta Government has threatened to sanction the little girl's school head and others found culpable. The state Commissioner for Education, Mr Chiedu Ebie who spoke on behalf of the Delta government, said that they operated a free education policy, hence the threat to sanction the school head and others who have been demanding examination levy or any other unauthorised levies from pupils.

“The fact is that we (government) operate free education policy in Delta State,” Ebie said. He further disclosed that many school heads had been demoted or suspended for imposing unauthorised levies on pupils, explaining that the only authorised levies in the state public school were for consumables and sports wears.

It also rejected unfair and ridiculous criticisms of President Muhammadu Buhari’s apparent disinterest in the upcoming elections in some states by party members who wrongfully assume that the President will abuse power by changing results to favour them.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, also noted that some past Presidents of Nigeria were known to interfere in inconclusive elections.
This, he said, was the reason why party members appeared to be upset that the same thing is not happening now.
He added “But President Buhari is a different kind of leader. He swore to defend the constitution and will not veer off from that.
“The constitution of Nigeria gives the President no such powers. It is unfair and ridiculous to criticise President Buhari for not going against the constitution.
“Party members in states where there will be supplementary elections then need to be reminded that they need to work hard to earn their people’s votes, rather than expect President Buhari to manipulate INEC in their favour.
“Interestingly, while members of the ruling APC party were criticising the President for not interfering on their behalf, members of the opposition were condemning the President based on their assumptions that he would definitely interfere, as many in the opposition did while in power.
“Under President Buhari, INEC had been and will be completely independent throughout the elections, free from any interference.
“President Buhari is a man of conviction, and the manipulation of election results goes against everything he stands for. INEC is completely in charge.” he stated

President Muhammadu Buhari who has condemned the killings and attacks in Kaduna State, has stated that it is politicized as he told them to stop.The Nigerian President disclosed this that after gunmen on Saturday attacked Nandu-Gbok village in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing 10 persons. Punch reported that Sanga is a border town with Nasarawa and Plateau states, where the Deputy Governor-elect, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, hails from.

President Buhari who stated that the Kaduna killings is politicized, further noted that violence could only leave sadness on its trail for the attackers on both sides of the divide and he is deeply troubled by this. 

“I am deeply troubled by the fact that the sanctity of life is now being treated with such a reckless disregard that people derive joy in shedding the blood of others or perceived enemies,” Buhari was quoted as saying in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu.

“No responsible leader would go to bed happy to see his citizens savagely killing one another on account of ethnic and religious bigotry. Violence cannot be the solution to these persistent conflicts as long as people resort to deliberate provocation, revenge and counter-revenge.”“Lack of cooperation by those involved might frustrate government’s efforts towards finding a lasting solution, especially if those efforts are politicised.”

He also expressed his regrets, saying, “Everything is politicised in Nigeria, including the efforts to bring offenders to justice, because their people will rise up in arms to resist their arrests and prosecution.”

KILLING CONTINUES IN KADUNA STATE

Reports reaching us today, 16/3/19 reveals that in the early morning of today,residents of Angbok Nandu, in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State were heavily attacked.

The attack which took place around 2:30am was said to have been carried out by people suspected to be Fulani militia. 8 people were killed including a baby, many wounded,several houses and properties destroyed. This situation has now left the village completely razed.

Heavy gunfire was said to have been heard which threw the whole community into pandemonium.

Southern Kaduna have in the past weeks come under series of attack since the last announcement of Governor El'rufai of Kaduna State on a purported attack on Fulanis in Kajuru.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condemned the massacre of forty nine (49) innocent Muslim worshippers which occurred during Jumu‘ah prayer in ChristChurch, New Zealand yesterday Friday 15th March, 2019. Dozens of worshippers were also injured. The perpetrator has been identified as 29-year-old Australian citizen, Brenton Harrison Tarrant.


MURIC, an Islamic human rights organization, described the killing as a sadistic, vicious and brutish terrorist act. MURIC’s reaction was contained in a press statement issued on Saturday, 16th March, 2019. The statement was signed by the group’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.


“This is terrorism at its height and a crime against humanity. This killer, Brenton Harrison Tarrant, is a Christian terrorist, a white supremacist and a monster. It was a blood-chilling incident.


“We wonder if there is no conspiracy somewhere. How did he have close to 20 minutes to operate in two different mosques without a single police officer taking him down? He drove from the first mosque after killing many Muslims and even had the time to wait on the street for pedestrians to cross. Then he drove to the second mosque and continued the dastardly act.


“This is a cold-blooded premeditated terrorist act. It was horrendous. We suspect that the terrorist did not act alone. Logistics must have been provided by somebody or some people. This is the mystery the New Zealand authorities have to unravel.

On January 26, 2019, Dakota Theriot, 21, fatally shot his parents and three other people in Ascension and Livingston churches, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Again on February 15, 2019, Gary Montez Martin, a 45-year-old American, killed six people and injured another six.


“The anatomy of terrorism is becoming clearer day by day. Those who accuse Muslims of violence and terrorism should ponder over the causal-effect theory. Violence and terrorism are mere symtoms. The real disease is injustice and provocation. Violence and terrorism are mere smoke. Injustice is the fire.


“We all know that there is no smoke without fire and it is the height of stupidity for firefighters to turn their water hoses towards the smoke, leaving the fire to continue raging. Justice is the soul of peace. Those who deny one cannot enjoy the other. This is MURIC’s analysis of the symbiotic relationship between injustice, provocation, violence and terrorism.


“Our solace lies in the belief that the victims died as martyrs. Al-Jannah is therefore guaranteed for them, moreso since their killing occurred during worship. It is the heartless killer and all those who helped him who will burn ad infinitum in hell. We pray for the families they left behind. May Allah grant them the spiritual, moral and material fortitude to bear the loss.

“Before we fold our mats, we charge the New Zealand authorities to ensure that justice is done. The families of the victims of this terror act must be adequately compensated. It is our considered opinion that crimes should be related to individual criminals and not to their religions, country or tribe”.
