When you get married you have taken an oath an obligation with your spouse you both will take responsibility for the fruit of the marriage.
When you both get married what it really means is that you both have agreed to the families involved you will kept the oath and your obligations.
You have also agreed to the law that you both will live peacefully together and you will train and ensure your children be law abiding and contribute positively to the society (if any) etc
You both have also agreed to God your creator to kept your promise and you will not fail.
You can now be honest to yourselves because they will be a judgement.
