By Johnbosco Agbakwuru & Joseph Erunke ABUJA—SOME senators opposed to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President, Tuesday, accused the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasua of conspiring with senators of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. The lawmakers, who disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari had, prior to the Tuesday’ inauguration of the National Assembly, asked Maikasua to delay the inauguration, due to his proposed meetings with legislators of the APC fold before election of the principal officers commenced, accused him of disobedience to the president. Speaking through Senator Barnabas Gemade, APC, Benue North East, the senators wondered why the clerk, without confirmation on whether the said meeting had ended, opened the gate, thereby letting opposition senators gain entry to elect new principal officers of the National Assembly, leaving others behind. Briefing newsmen in Abuja, on the development, Gemade fumed: “The clerk of the National Assembly knowing fully well that a quorum for election of the Senate President has not been met, went ahead to conduct an election that shuts the door to about 53 other senators which would remain unacceptable… “It was necessary for us to believe that the president had actually sought a slight delay to enable him speak to the senators that he had agreed to speak to. I think that respect begets respect and for that reason, we expected that if the president had made that request to the clerk, it would be reasonable for the clerk to be mindful of the fact and the status of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in view of those members that were called to the meeting. But unfortunately, this was not done, “he added. VANGUARD. |
Aiico Ubcap Fcmb Fidelity Bank Uba |
sky2891:unfortunately, am nt interested in Niger insurance because of their weak fundamentals. Posted loss in their q3 result both in their T.O and PAT. If they improves on this, then it falls under my radar. This is where Aiico have gotten it right. And with their recent convertible loan frm IFC, i think the future of this stock seems brighter. reminded me of how custodian insurance took similar loan in 2012 and the fortune of the stock improve dramatically. |
Omexonomy:Aiico. watchout for this stock from now till next month |

[quote author=drzed]10000000 Likes for you my brother! Nigerians need to understand that it is ideas that rule the world. Money is just a tool used to execute ideas. Until such a time when we understand this, we will continue to wallow in the grey and shallow waters of mediocrity and backwardness. Let me give an example. We talk every day about fighting corruption in Nigeria. We have been singing this song since the first coup of 1966. But I can bet you that you wont find up to 10 PhD thesis in the entire country where our researchers studied our nationwide affinity for corruption in any sector (e.g. Police, Civil Service or Energy). You probably wont find up to 10 scientific studies of corruption in any Nigerian sector, that was published by a peer-reviewed journal where people will critique it, appreciate the causal factors and devise solutions via contributions. And yet we expect miracles and for corruption to just 'disappear' simply because one Farida, Ribadu or whoever is in charge of EFCC. Na beans? Fighting corruption is not by 'chest' or by gra-gra. In this regard, Nigeria is actually a laughable society. We delude ourselves. You see, because we dont value ideas over money, people like Obasanjo/GEJ will continue to throw billions at the power sector and wonder why it is not producing results. Hint: study or research the problem, devise a solution to it, THEN you can throw money at the problem. You can then sit back and watch results. And if you use a proper methodology for the problem (hint: what PhD holders are good at) then at every stage of implementation, you will be in control. All the variables of the problem are known and can be controlled. Vision 2020 my a55! At the rate we are going, we wont even achieve vision 2090. Heck, do we actually have a vision? You are very correct. |
@jamace: why recommend FTNCOCOA? Fundamentally, it is not sound company. Its 2011 FY result is just too negative and it hasnt released any quarterly result for 2012. I believe in good fundamentals before investing. |
If u ask me, i think women are more difficult to please. Whtz ur opinion? |
Pls which state govt Pays doctors highest during service |
[quote author=Mayflowa]Contrary to what you argue against, NYSC docs are really well paid! My sis-in-law just finished from one of Lagos State Local Govt Clinics for her NYSC. She was being paid 175k by the Local Govt. U mean 175k per mnth or at the end of the service yr? |
i recently learnt that on successful graduation from medical school in nigeria, the graduation grade for all doctors is PASS unlike the graduating grade from other discipline ie first class, 2.1,2.2 etc. If that is the case, what determines a newly medical doctor getting a job compared to his mates since one cannot determine the most knowledgeable in terms of the result? I will appreciate if a medical practitioner provides answer |
