Once more chairman dat ya post na inferiority complex thing.please don't hate.u don't know wat dos guys went through before becoming a consultant.like anoda 6yrs of study after having an MBBS certificate. Some no fit stay wt dr family/children. Some receive insult right infront of dr spouse. Chairman dr r alot to say abt doctors. Don't jus focus on dr jumbo pay.heheehe imagine u seeing a beautiful nurse u love so much and wanna ask out.right in front of her eyes ya Superiors ask u a question dey know u will Neva know answers too.u r disgraced right infront of ya lover cos d gal will laf at u.guess wat will happen later, u go jus respect ya self or else na DAT beautiful lady go close d disgrace coffin for u grin.ur oda colleagues in d main campus r flexing wt dr babes mean yl u in d teaching hospital don't even know how to scope a babe(always looking innocent) grin .alot to say abt doctors. Dis ego u r talking I no understand. Even when a medical student wanna b alone to him self cos of medical skol stress and threat of withdrawal from med skol, ppl will complain u r feeling proud.am out.one love.long live d federal rep of Nigeria
sane minds who read my post knew it's not out of complex i wrote but for the clouded minds may see it so. i can't make any sense from this your trash post. tell me which course is so easy to study? some of you doctors failed courses offered in those ancillary departments you considered are without challenge in your formative years. while your senseless analogy of lover makes no meaning to me it equally suggest that your level of reasoning is greatly shambolic. Go and ask engineering graduates how easy it is to study engineering. in zoology and botany alone you need to cram many zoological and botanical names. There are many combine honour courses in the university. it is not only medicine that has two degrees. Physics with electronics, maths with statistics etc. There are many instances where lecturers have embarrassed their students before other students so spare yourself that your rubbish epistle of being embarrassed by your senior colleagues. i no send medico students when i they school, i simply see them as any other student in the campus. If anybody dey trip for them na him/her sabi.

That you friend are you sure he knows you are smarter than him.
yes he knows because we took some courses together and i did better than him in all. Even in our days in the secondary school i was always ahead of him in class position. what more prove do you need?

The tone of this post is different from the message. this your opinion and you are entitle to it.

Sirgen05: Pure jealousy!! Must u always use doctors for comparisonhuh
i guess you are blind.did you read the post that attracted my post. what do you mean by pure jealousy. why will i jealous doctors when some okey and bros Nig ltd at Alaba earn millions daily. jealous doctors my foot. with whom i am if i want to study that your medicine i can because i have what it takes to do that. One of my convictions that there is no big deal in studying medicine was that one of my friend who finished with a 3rd class in the biological sciences went back to study medicine and today he is a doctor. so why can't i especially that he and i knows i am academically better than him. i do also know that if not for the restrictions in admission into the medical school, the preponderance of doctors would be better imagined than we see today. If all and sundry becomes doctors then we will become vet doctors because we can treat ourselves and nobody will be the patient. I don't jealous any doctor, but my ordeal with them is that many of them are filled with ego as if no one can attain their heights/fit in life and the arrogant manner in which some of them attend to patients in government hospitals which completely negates how they attend to people in their private hospitals. sometimes,i wonder if they are the same people you see at government facilities. I will be glad if someone can explain the reason(s) for this abysmal variation in character by the same doctors you see in private and govt hospitals. somebody once said they can't do otherwise in private because the owner of the business is there and won't condone any nonsense from any of them but because govt job is no mans job, anybody does as he/she pleases without any sanctions. may be the fellow is right;let the doctors defend themselves. shikina

deletrue: Thank you. Na GEJ I dey blame, who is only trying to build a new enduring system for other to follow. Otherwise during the time of OBJ and others, who cares? If you like cry, OBJ will even OPENLY disobay court orders and nothing happens, but here is a man (GEJ) who even listens to bloody thieves like the doctors, all in an effort to turn round the completely rotton system.
my broda dont worry GEJ is dancing to 2015 tunes. Nigerians, including the doctors will know him better if he emerges president in 2015. let the doctors in their widest imagination try a repeat of their strike after he becomes president which i know they will never try, then they will see a reincarnation of FASHOLA in what GEJ will do to them.

EllaD101: They deserve it. How I wish am a doctor.
what are u waiting 4. even at 100years you can start to be one so that when u are 106yrs God help u if there is no strike may be u will be 106+ b4 u can be a doctor and then start earning as you said they deserve it. I have said it on this platform doctors are not the most important and no profession can equally claim that. All work together to achieve success. I wonder what the doctors will use to treat/cure their patients if pharmacist withdraws all drugs or other allied heath workers fold their arms and allow them to do the job alone. Yet they think they are superman. None of the equipment used in the hospitals by the doctors were made by any of them; the engineers made them, i wonder what they can do if the equipment are not there yet they claim to be all and all. Jobs/VacanciesRe: What's The Weirdest Question You Have Ever Been Asked In An Interview by Elythron16zero4: 12:42am On Aug 20, 2014
Freest: Just to add my own experience...
Went for an interview in a coy, and the interviewer, a middle aged man sitting directly in front of me. After asking me personal questions, he asked if i was good with some computer packages, C++, autocad, Cnna, and the likes of which i said No. Then he took me to a very beautiful office, well furnished, internet supported and all the likes, and told me, this is your office (see ghost pimples for my body), then he went on, being that you have no idea about this computer packages, we will teach you for the next one year, and after which we will ascertain your improvement, then we know what to do from there. But for this period, you will receive no pay from us. He then went further to ask; Is that ok by you? (In my mind, wtf* how can that be ok by me?) Ofcourse i never went back(though regreted my actions later).
Thanks
very sorry but that was the last interview that would have sealed that job for you. He merely wants to test your tolerance level. no company will engage you 4 1year without pay as an applicant

12inches1: I'm sure you're a stark illiterate. It is not by compulsion a doctor must save lives. A doctor didn't come to earth with the sole responsibility of treating you. You pay and get treated or your government pays to subsidize what you pay. You can't force anybody to treat you. They didn't inflict you with the illness or hit you with a vehicle so how are they murderers?
well spoken but if a doctor cannot be forced to do what he/she is legitimately paid to do, why should the same doctor force the government to better their lots. methinks they should just resign and leave the job and allow others who need the job to come in instead of embarking on a strike. Now the FG has used sledge hammer on the residents doctors across its facilities and you are all crying wolf. God save us.

dumodust: you are the one that is grandstanding and arrogant from your post which reeks of beef... claiming unverifiable intelligence on the net. How will that help with ebola if you cant practice or do what you claim to know which is the problem with paramedicals in nigeria. Doctors are in several fields due to further postgraduate training called residency which includes microbiology which is part of pathology and also therapeutics. We also do medical pharmacology and medical microbiology.yes, we are not pharmaceutical but we are equipped with that global view and help in contributing details that a pharmaceutical laboratory scientist will need to create a formula or drug. A lot of people work with pharmaceutical companies (business entities) and doctors are actively involved.
NOTE- not all doctors are in clinical medicine (business of attending to patients), many are in the labs too doing the needful eg NIMR ETC
so that borrowed causes u guy offered certifies u guys as experts in those field or better than those who read the course itsef. so if i offerd anatomy, physiology, histology, med bch etc in my formative years as an anatomist, so i can then say i am a doctor? if i hav an Msc in surgery so i can be performing surgery on patients eh? when u docs lay claims of your ability to do others job it's not quackery but when others do claim to do your jobs or do them your start calling them quacks. look, this claims of your ability to do others job when you are not trained to do so must stop. A quack is anyone doing jobs he/she is not trained to do. Even if you do the job of a record keeper/lab scientist when u are not properly trained to do so u are nothing but a quack. your paucity of knowledge in others field does not make u an expert in that field. if you are a doctor and not trained as a pharm/lab sctist no one will address u as such.
HealthRe: NMA Strike Suspended? by Elythron16zero4:
dumodust: how can you be available when the right conditions for coming to work are not there? Being available without being functional is useless and may even create more public backlash if docs refuse to attend to pts. We all know employers dont care about stuff once they feel you are being paid. The main problem is that without ebola, it has been like that, now ebola is here, that is the more reason for protection against workplace hazards. If that is not done, we may end up amplifying it to epidemic proportions by transferring it between patients and carrying it home. I currently feel, after thinking about it that the strike has paradoxically helped to somewhat contain the spread.
as for the professional advice, the big profs and ogas are on ground giving valuable advice regardless of what u hear in the media about the strike... its the non-reasoning politicians eager to impress the watching international community that want to call us back and endanger us all
but wait a minute, i kno some private hospitals are not better equipped than public hospitals yet you dont hear docs saying the right condition to work is not there. they still operate under their ill-equipped private hospitals. i think all this call for better condition of work is actually better pay for work in the midst of plenty pay govt pays u guys which private hosptals cant afford. if u visit some private hospitasl they have one or 2 nurses at most with d CMD becoming jack of all trade. even to employ other docs na wahala 4 them. u ppl should hav a rethink. if the private pays better why are some of u still chasing govt own jobs in govt hosptls? u ppl shud just resign 4m govt pd jobs lets see if d FG will not find a way out. our presido no get action jare

Timotee: This is where people get it all wrong. There's a clear distinction between a PhD degree and a professional doctorate degree (e.g. MBBS, PharmD). One is professionally inclined and the other is purely academic. If for example, a nurse goes on to get a PhD degree in nursing, it's meant solely for academic purposes and not for professional purposes. It doesn't proffer on him/her any extra professional qualities. In the same vein, if a medical doctor gets a PhD degree, it also doesn't accord him/her any extra professional qualities. What confers the 'consultancy status' on a medical doctor is the completion of a rigorous 'residency' programme in a particular medical specialty. Other healthcare fields do not have such programmes (kindly correct me if I'm wrong). What obtains are academic advancement and hence, the reluctancy to accord other healthcare workers 'consultancy status'.
my friend@op. the bone of contention here is how to address those with the PhD and are doctors/nurse as u said. It is not all the epistle u are preaching here. we want to know what to call a doctor with a PhD or a nurse with a phd. in the case of the nurse do u skip her PhD title in addressing her .What confers the 'consultancy status' on a medical doctor is the completion of a rigorous 'residency' programme in a particular medical specialty. NMA is one big and organized family.
if u sack all doctors under FG pay roll, do u think that those of us in private setting are willing to work and receive those peanuts with insult?
my advise to FG is to privatize all govt hospitals... pay off those workers that are redundant.

FG do not have right to ban doctors under their pay roll from owning a hospital ... many Nurses, lab guys, pharmacist also have their own set ups so why the noises.
privatization remains the only solutions

The NMA embarked on an indefinite strike action since July 1st, demanding among 24 things the payment of N13 billion wage demands for 2014, resrving the position of Chief Medical director to only medical doctors, appointment of Surgeon General of the Federation, passage of National Health Bill, providing security for doctors, increase in duty hazard and specialist allowances, as well as budget for residency training programme, reintegration of its members into the IPPIS platform, and reserving the title of consultants to only medical doctors.

FoodRe: What Is The Science Behind Soup Spoilage Due To finger.ing by Elythron16zero4: 11:51pm On Jul 26, 2014
some post here are true while others are mere conjectures. Truly, certain bacteria are highly resistant to high temperature including extremely high temperatures but the issue of soup souring from the point raised may occur even without dipping hands into the soup. Bacteria are ubiquitous and that means they can be in your food after warming or cooking. for those that cannot survive high temperature;they are killed but for those that can they are simply attenuated. This means even if you cook your food with volcanoes some bacteria are still their but are temporarily inactive. As they recover they produce what is called spores which makes your food sour. It is the spore formation by the bacteria that makes the food sour not the presence of the bacteria per say. Bacterial spores have thick walls(with very strong heat stable bonds) and can resist high temperatures, humidity, and other poor conditions. Spores are highly resistant to heat, only a process called sterilization destroys spores and bacteria. It is done at high temperatures and under high pressures. In health-care settings, sterilization is usually done using a device called an autoclave. This explains why you don't get the same great taste once your soup sours even if you heat it from now to 2020 you 'll end up drying up the soup. grin. Dipping fingers, dropping saliva, breathing/blowing air are all inoculating means of introducing microbes in medium especially culture though inoculating loops are used in the lab to inoculate a culture. e.g nutrient broth. But lets note that when you neither do any of this and you keep your food well covered without warming/heating for a long time, it will surely go sour except stored in fridges which makes the bacteria inactive. This is a simple chemistry which explains why soup sours. So when next you cook a delicacy, do well to warm well/store in freezers.Enjoy your soup!

Quite very reminiscent were all the accounts given on this thread but i won't like to repeat most of the things said though i witnessed it the next day with the news making round the campus. At that time i was a 100 level student. Just as the kegites were in an expansive mood with their World chief engrossed in his usual oration ,i was returning from academics. it wasn't up to a minute i took a walk through the Awo cafe at about 4am for my jambito hall Angola that the running began with gun shorts blaring like the sirens. I took of straight for my room only to find my room C3 empty and dark as i called out names and nobody answered me. I summoned courage and went in but hid myself in the wardrobes till my room mates started returning from the bush behind D blocks meant for the foreign students (4got the popular name we used to call that block). Some guys who were at Faj hall reported that even those who attempted to rush some of the students to the Health centre were shot at when they ran into the black boyz and they abandoned them and ran for safety but returned to complete their mission to safe those guys but it was too late. In the morning there were shoes, pieces of clothes, bathroom slippers hung on the barb wires demarcating Angola hall and Awo hall. Scores of students sustained varying degrees of injuries resulting from running for safety. It was a horrible night. The last time i saw that nupmty; Efosa before he was nabbed along Ife-ibadan express was at a story building at May- fair off ondo- ore road. To be candid that guy looks quite dreadful at sight. on a lighter note; once i went to read at academics social science to be precise at night, someone shouted hey! look at Efosa and everybody started running and the guy started laughing and we knew it was a lie and a joke. While some of us returned to continue our reading some others refused out rightly to return.

On the funeral of the 5 i was there too and i could recalled their caskets was laid serially with their names on each for their family members to easily identify them. I saw an old man about 80years supposedly one the family member of the deceased weeping and i could not curtail my tears. It was a life time experience that will live with one in light years to come. My brief account of the memorable July 10, 1999.

That boy didn't do well truly speaking but as much as i know we must all watch our methods of correcting a child especially grown ups. If that man had not slapped that boy he won't have done that. people are quite different in times of their ability to withstand stress.More over who knows this may not be the first time he is slapping him.
