RomanceWhy Do Girls Take Good/genuine Men For Granted by emeka94(op): 1:36am On Nov 03, 2013
Saw a post asking why "guys take good girls for granted". So I decided to counteract it with my own question because its unfair to think that only guys take good people of d other sex for granted, after all a pendulum swings both ways.
Girls would rather prefer to date and give up their bodies to guys who still dress like wizkid( the guy may even be thirty years but em still dey form wizzy). Probability the view them as being more fun and alive but when the get their hearts broken by such guys whom they obviously know that they are only interested on their body, them girls go start "guys are ...." "Men are....". Mtcheew. when that cool guy way understand maturity and genuinely likes you, approached u wetin u talk/do?
Am speaking from experience and I also knw others that can give credence to what am saying.
Girls tend to always fall for guys that are not emotionally available or just want their body, forgetting/rejecting the guy who really wants them. After when their selling point don sweet the thirty year old swagger(wizzy) guy, them go come NL and other forum to complain about guys in general.

LiteratureHow To Write About Africa by emeka94(op): 4:32pm On Oct 25, 2013
Always use the word ‘Africa’ or ‘Darkness’ or ‘Safari’
in your title. Subtitles may include the words
‘Zanzibar’, ‘Masai’, ‘Zulu’, ‘Zambezi’, ‘Congo’, ‘Nile’,
‘Big’, ‘Sky’, ‘Shadow’, ‘Drum’, ‘Sun’ or ‘Bygone’. Also
useful are words such as ‘Guerrillas’, ‘Timeless’,
‘Primordial’ and ‘Tribal’. Note that ‘People’ means
Africans who are not black, while ‘The People’ means
black Africans.
Never have a picture of a well-adjusted African on the
cover of your book, or in it, unless that African has
won the Nobel Prize. An AK-47, prominent ribs, naked
breasts: use these. If you must include an African,
make sure you get one in Masai or Zulu or Dogon
dress.
In your text, treat Africa as if it were one country. It is
hot and dusty with rolling grasslands and huge herds
of animals and tall, thin people who are starving. Or
it is hot and steamy with very short people who eat
primates. Don’t get bogged down with precise
descriptions. Africa is big: fifty-four countries, 900
million people who are too busy starving and dying
and warring and emigrating to read your book. The
continent is full of deserts, jungles, highlands,
savannahs and many other things, but your reader
doesn’t care about all that, so keep your descriptions
romantic and evocative and unparticular.
Make sure you show how Africans have music and
rhythm deep in their souls, and eat things no other
humans eat. Do not mention rice and beef and
wheat; monkey-brain is an African's cuisine of choice,
along with goat, snake, worms and grubs and all
manner of game meat. Make sure you show that you
are able to eat such food without flinching, and
describe how you learn to enjoy it—because you care.
Taboo subjects: ordinary domestic scenes, love
between Africans (unless a death is involved),
references to African writers or intellectuals, mention
of school-going children who are not suffering from
yaws or Ebola fever or female genital mutilation.
Throughout the book, adopt a sotto voice, in
conspiracy with the reader, and a sad I-expected-so-
much tone. Establish early on that your liberalism is
impeccable, and mention near the beginning how
much you love Africa, how you fell in love with the
place and can’t live without her. Africa is the only
continent you can love—take advantage of this. If you
are a man, thrust yourself into her warm virgin
forests. If you are a woman, treat Africa as a man who
wears a bush jacket and disappears off into the
sunset. Africa is to be pitied, worshipped or
dominated. Whichever angle you take, be sure to
leave the strong impression that without your
intervention and your important book, Africa is
doomed.
Your African characters may include naked warriors,
loyal servants, diviners and seers, ancient wise men
living in hermitic splendour. Or corrupt politicians,
inept polygamous travel-guides, and prostitutes you
have slept with. The Loyal Servant always behaves
like a seven-year-old and needs a firm hand; he is
scared of snakes, good with children, and always
involving you in his complex domestic dramas. The
Ancient Wise Man always comes from a noble tribe
(not the money-grubbing tribes like the Gikuyu, the
Igbo or the Shona). He has rheumy eyes and is close
to the Earth. The Modern African is a fat man who
steals and works in the visa office, refusing to give
work permits to qualified Westerners who really care
about Africa. He is an enemy of development, always
using his government job to make it difficult for
pragmatic and good-hearted expats to set up NGOs
or Legal Conservation Areas. Or he is an Oxford-
educated intellectual turned serial-killing politician in
a Savile Row suit. He is a cannibal who likes Cristal
champagne, and his mother is a rich witch-doctor
who really runs the country.
Among your characters you must always include The
Starving African, who wanders the refugee camp
nearly naked, and waits for the benevolence of the
West. Her children have flies on their eyelids and pot
bellies, and her breasts are flat and empty. She must
look utterly helpless. She can have no past, no
history; such diversions ruin the dramatic moment.
Moans are good. She must never say anything about
herself in the dialogue except to speak of her
(unspeakable) suffering. Also be sure to include a
warm and motherly woman who has a rolling laugh
and who is concerned for your well-being. Just call
her Mama. Her children are all delinquent. These
characters should buzz around your main hero,
making him look good. Your hero can teach them,
bathe them, feed them; he carries lots of babies and
has seen Death. Your hero is you (if reportage), or a
beautiful, tragic international celebrity/aristocrat who
now cares for animals (if fiction).
Bad Western characters may include children of Tory
cabinet ministers, Afrikaners, employees of the World
Bank. When talking about exploitation by foreigners
mention the Chinese and Indian traders. Blame the
West for Africa's situation. But do not be too specific.
Broad brushstrokes throughout are good. Avoid
having the African characters laugh, or struggle to
educate their kids, or just make do in mundane
circumstances. Have them illuminate something
about Europe or America in Africa. African characters
should be colourful, exotic, larger than life—but
empty inside, with no dialogue, no conflicts or
resolutions in their stories, no depth or quirks to
confuse the cause.
Describe, in detail, naked breasts (young, old,
conservative, recently raped, big, small) or mutilated
genitals, or enhanced genitals. Or any kind of
genitals. And dead bodies. Or, better, naked dead
bodies. And especially rotting naked dead bodies.
Remember, any work you submit in which people
look filthy and miserable will be referred to as the
‘real Africa’, and you want that on your dust jacket.
Do not feel queasy about this: you are trying to help
them to get aid from the West. The biggest taboo in
writing about Africa is to describe or show dead or
suffering white people.
Animals, on the other hand, must be treated as well
rounded, complex characters. They speak (or grunt
while tossing their manes proudly) and have names,
ambitions and desires. They also have family values:
see how lions teach their children? Elephants are
caring, and are good feminists or dignified patriarchs.
So are gorillas. Never, ever say anything negative
about an elephant or a gorilla. Elephants may attack
people’s property, destroy their crops, and even kill
them. Always take the side of the elephant. Big cats
have public-school accents. Hyenas are fair game and
have vaguely Middle Eastern accents. Any short
Africans who live in the jungle or desert may be
portrayed with good humour (unless they are in
conflict with an elephant or chimpanzee or gorilla, in
which case they are pure evil).
After celebrity activists and aid workers,
conservationists are Africa’s most important people.
Do not offend them. You need them to invite you to
their 30,000-acre game ranch or ‘conservation area’,
and this is the only way you will get to interview the
celebrity activist. Often a book cover with a heroic-
looking conservationist on it works magic for sales.
Anybody white, tanned and wearing khaki who once
had a pet antelope or a farm is a conservationist, one
who is preserving Africa’s rich heritage. When
interviewing him or her, do not ask how much
funding they have; do not ask how much money they
make off their game. Never ask how much they pay
their employees.
Readers will be put off if you don’t mention the light
in Africa. And sunsets, the African sunset is a must. It
is always big and red. There is always a big sky. Wide
empty spaces and game are critical—Africa is the
Land of Wide Empty Spaces. When writing about the
plight of flora and fauna, make sure you mention that
Africa is overpopulated. When your main character is
in a desert or jungle living with indigenous peoples
(anybody short) it is okay to mention that Africa has
been severely depopulated by Aids and War (use
caps).
You’ll also need a nightclub called Tropicana, where
mercenaries, evil nouveau riche Africans and
prostitutes and guerrillas and expats hang out.
Always end your book with Nelson Mandela saying
something about rainbows or renaissances. Because
you care

noblezone: 1. For obvious reasons, you left out the non Igbo officers involved in the coup.
2. I get your argument, except that we of the Biafran Nation have the right to self determination and self rule. The action of the pogrom has brought about the reaction of self determination. Nigerians should get over it, Biafra must go.
3. Igbos brought war upon themselves by the coup? AS much as you fail to draw the line between the soldier/political class from the rest of the people, then stop crying over the fact that we the People of Biafra are not interested in the entity called "one" Nigeria.

Ojukwu can remain your coward but he remains our hero!

It is only a coward that will fold his hands and look the other way while his family is being wasted.
We are going home to Biafra and Nigeria can continue in her self delusion that killing us will stop Biafra!
Men may die, but Biafra lives on.

Ojukwu the "coward: is gone, but we want nothing but Baifra!

If not for any other reason, a nation where a child who scored 69% in an entrance exam is denied admission while another who scored 1% is offered admission is a biog LIE. I cant continue to live in a lie.
N if u get biafra what will be ur contribution? Do u think biafra was the truth? Or that it would last for how loong before indigene madness tears us apart?
PoliticsRe: video: Gen. Gowon Interviewed Soon After Biafra Surrenders In January 1970 by emeka94(m): 4:39pm On Oct 22, 2013
Listen to the universe now, lol!

The wind has blown and we've seen the priest's pant.
We love Ojukwu. All Igbos great and small love him so suck on that Gowon or should I say "Go On With One Nigeria." We know who's bleeding now, we know those that are roasting and eating their former comrades today. Nigeria is angry because we didn't deliver Ojukwu's head to them. Well, guess what? we don't turn on our own. And that's more reason GEJ's haters should put their energy to use in other ethnic groups because we're not about to learn 'double talk' and backstabbing now.

If we're with you then we're with you - end of the story. Our elders instructed Ojukwu to declare Biafra while you, Gowon, declared war. We fought it and lost but we didnt lose our dignity. Time has shown we even won the war and incase you don't believe me check the stats on university enrollment, admin cut-off point, human development index, employment rate - be it self-employment or otherwise, access to health, female literacy rate, mother/child mortality rate, number of students and professionals in the disapora, etc. I can go on and on.

But what has the so-called core winners of the battle got to show after their premature celebration? Boko haram, matasine or whatever they call it, 10 million Almajiris, desert encroachment, Fulani vs Berom, Fulani vs Hausa, Fulani vs Oyo, Fulani vs all, Polio epidemic, educational disadvantage label for all their states, loss of their Ijaw and middle belt war friends, hunger for the presidency, bombing all over the north, roasting and eating of eachother, illiteracy all over the place despite 2 points cut-off point for some of their states as opposed to 134 average for 5 south eastern states. And I haven't even added Igbos in Rivers, Delta, and Edo, Lol!

Incase you dont't know it, your war gave us a united Igbo nation. We're holding on to that while your Hausa-Fulani instigators have almost totally wiped out your people, and guess what? The rest of your so-called southern friends have not and will never lift a finger to say jack. The same way they bailed on us is the same way they've kept hands akimbo while your people duel it out with blood thirsty Jihadists. Tell me when last Lagos media or any other media house down south yelled and called out Fulani in their quest to turning your people to cattle forage crop? Never, never gonna happen. So who lost then?

So next time before y'all start yapping about Ojukwu, civil war, or Igbo, ask your selves what did you gain from the so-called victory. Today SE and SS are interestingly united and shivers are going down y'all spine. You balkanized Igboland yet today Igbos world over are indentifying with their ancestry. Before the civil war most Igbos never used the word "Igbo" as maiden names, but in your grand design to destroy us you made the opportunity possible for Igbo nation to be, perhaps, the only nation in the face of the earth to have over 10% of their population use their ethnicity as their first names. Suck on that Gowon!

Our heads are high and there's nothing you can do about it. We have documented all you and your fellow criminals did during and after the war so go ahaed and run but can never hide. All generations of Igbo people will know it and at the appropriate time you will pay. It doesn't matter how long it takes. The only saving grace will be apology from you and the nations that joined in slaughtering 3 million of my kinsmen simply because they rejected a murderous jihadist nation. If it takes one thousand years from now we will wait. Take the presidency, take all our abandon property - we will wait. Chide us, taunt us, humiliate us, give us 20 pounds - we will fight back, but most importantly, we will wait.

You can only match our patience, resilience, and resolve to collect this debt if and only if you've been through what you made us go through simply because Nigerian, Britain, Russia, Egypt, Sudan, the rest of Arabs, and Christian friends of Jihadists down south felt they could.

Our heads and shoulders are high and we're loving the one Nigeria you created. Hopefully no one will talk about GEJ paying Tompolo or how Asari is rich or how GEJ is letting Boko Haram destroy the core north - sounds like Gowon keeping mute when 50,000 of Easterners were meeting the Jihadists' matchetes. Karma baby, karma. Don't fight it.

Long live Nigeria.
Once you're in you are in, no going out.
Seriously u get time.
CrimePrisoners Pay For Basic Necessities At Enugu Prison by emeka94(op): 7:27am On Oct 20, 2013
Quality cell space rental between N10,000 and N200,000
■Inmates pay N2,000 for court appearance
■Allegations false, unfounded –DCP

From PETRUS OBI, Enugu

A freed inmate has made startling revelations about how the Enugu Maximum Prison authorities allegedly force prisoners to pay N2,000 fee for each of them to be transported from the prison to court to attend to their various matters. The inmate who recently regained freedom from the prison also alleged that inmates paid between N100 to N150 for a bucket of water.

However, the Deputy Comptroller incharge of the prison, Mustapha Attah dismissed the allegations as an attempt by mischief-makers who, he said, were out to undermine his outstanding contributions to the growth and effective control of the prison. In a chat with Sunday Sun, the former inmate who would not want his name in print said: “You must pay before you are taken to court; if you don’t pay nobody takes you to court and that is why many prisoners don’t come to court; they say the money is for the Black Maria, and it’s N2,000 each.”

The source who said he didn’t have the money to pay the day he was granted bail narrated how he begged and assured that warders that he would collect money from his people in the court premises before he was taken to court. He was granted bail in court and, therefore, he refused to pay the fee. But by the time he returned to the prison, waiting for the perfection of his bail, he was locked up in what he called the back cell or punishment cell for three days.
He said he was later transferred to Oji-River Prison for more punishment but was saved by the quick intervention of his lawyer who facilitated his release. Other alleged irregularities from the Enugu Prison include the practice of making prison inmates pay rent for cell space they occupy while in detention.
According to the source, the inmates pay N10,000, N25,000 up to N200,000 depending on the quality of the cell. The prisoners were further alleged to have contributed money sometime in April this year with which the cells were painted when a top prison official visited the Enugu Prison.

The prisoners were also allegedly allowed access to their GSM phones inside the prison yard, a rare privilege, which they in turn contributed money to pay officials for whenever there was an inspection of the cells. Also despite the availability of a well, the source alleged that prisoners were made buy a bucket of water for between N100 and N150 naira. Furthermore, it was learnt that only about two to three cups of drinking water were rationed to each inmate on a daily basis. Those who wanted more water had to allegedly to pay.

There were also stories about a task force made up of prisoners themselves who wore green shirts with inscription of ‘Task Force’ at the back. They were alleged to be the eyes of the prison boss and even feared by warders. Reacting to the allegations, the Deputy Comptroller of Prisons, (DCP), Mustapha Attah said all the allegations were false and unfounded. He said that even Nigeria Prisons Service headquarters in Abuja had sent officials to investigate the same allegations and found out that they were baseless.

“Somebody is just there trying to run down the good job we are doing here. They sent a petition on these same issues to Abuja and they came here to find out.” Attah who was posted to Enugu in October 2009 faulted the allegation that prisoners were paying N2,000 fee before being taken to court, stating that the number of prisoners who attended court had risen significantly since he came to Enugu Prison.
“If they don’t go, the judges will complain but here I have been getting praises from both the chief judge and attorney-general.” On the issue of use of phone in the prison, DCP Attah noted that the Comptroller General had sent circulars on that, insisting that Enugu had never deviated from that directive. On water he said Enugu Prisons had a water tanker supplied since 2008; “it has to go up to 9th Mile to buy water.

I provide the money for diesel for the tanker to bring water three times a day because the last time Water Board gave us water was five months ago. So how can I buy water and sell the same water to inmates? It’s unthinkable.
“How can people stay and formulate things. They said inmates contributed money to paint the cells. It’s like telling a suspect in a police cell to pay for the painting of the cell, how can it work?”

PoliticsRe: Is Abia The Worst State In Nigeria by emeka94(m): 6:46am On Oct 20, 2013
Abagworo: Abia is a poor State. In fact the whole Southeast combined is poor and does not have as much funds as Rivers or Akwa-Ibom alone. You people need to pay tax before the level of work needed in Aba can be accomplished. I actually drove through Port-Harcourt-Aba expressway and it looks highly improved with a garden at Osisioma and a park located about 3km after. I saw no heaps of refuse like it was in the past and I noticed a funny kind of pedestrian bridge with iron fence to cover the green area. I was impressed for real. Maybe some feeder roads inside the city proper is bad but it is same in all parts of Nigeria including Akwa-Ibom and Rivers.

I only offered a possible solution because I have value for Aba as probably the largest core Igbo city with industries and markets.
For get what u saw at the express. D ppl in Aba are over taxed and believe me we pay them, else the person fine his or her self in police cell. Even truck pushers have to pay tax and get license.
The tin is that govt gives out tax collecting as contract. It goes to the highest bidder. And so does the money. Aba is a commercial town so it shldnt be compared with other SE states bc money dey Aba. The revenue govt gets from ariaria market is more than enough. Not to talk of other markets in d state.

Me sef dey think of how to leave my house because its been raining and am sure they roads are all flooded

PoliticsRe: Is Abia The Worst State In Nigeria by emeka94(m): 10:49pm On Oct 19, 2013
Abagworo: Abia is not the worst State. The pictures he posted are flooded roads which happens everywhere. The only thing I've noticed is that Abians lament a lot and do less thereby giving a wrong impression of reality. I was in Aba and Umuahia recently when I toured the Southeast and I saw obvious improvement. I even posted a picture from Umuahia on Nairaland which is surprisingly one of the cleanest cities in Nigeria.

On a more serious note, Aba is located on a flatland with little or no slope and hence requires serious drainage system to reduce flooding and increase durability of roads. As long as people continue covering the natural drainage with houses and sandfill, the flooding will continue to increase. That's one of the biggest achievements of Amaechi in Port-Harcourt which happens to be on a flat land like Aba. I just pity Abians because there Government does not have the funds at his disposal like Amaechi to tackle the flood menace. Maybe they should arrange an infrastructural taxing system whereby houses pay like 10,000 to 50,000 to raise funds for Government.
E-fool. God wipe ur mouth with acidic kleenex. Which Aba is good? Why are u even defending TA orji? Have u been to cemetery mrkt or ariaria or osusu or obohia or portharcourth road or owere aba etc? Where have u been to in aba? Mugu194 like u. May u share in all the cuses Aba ppl are laying on ta orji.
I live in Aba and I can tell u that Aba is rotten + decayed + anythin worse than worst.. D type of tax paid in this city breaks even the stonest of heart. Don't forget that Abia is an oil producing stAte. Mtcheew complain my black flat ass

Recently, the area I live in Aba have seen an increase in robbery. Residents of my area are mostly treaders and low income earners. Everybody are in utter fear of this criminal who are said to number up to 20. We tried calling the police and the army but they came for a day and that was it.
Before now I had believed that our country Nigeria was worth hoping in. That the future will be better but it seems that nothing will change. We pay all type of tax in this city from sanitation to environmental/infrastructure but yet nothing happens. No change. None at all. Citizens are afraid to open their doors again in their fathers land. What hope do we have again?
For the security services to come and do their job means that you must pay them extra cash even though it is their job to secure lives and properties of Nigerians.
ASUU is on strike.... No one cares
Flood is washing away people and property.... Mtcheew none of our business
People are dieing from bomb blast and violence.... Thank God my family is abroad
Put head for main road and die.... How much Is in my foreign accounts. 2015 things
They don't care about us. They fill us with useless sensation about how much they care for nigerians and how wrong the ruling party is for the nation but they had once ruled us and did nothing to better our lives.
They call us the future of tomorrow but they refuse to help us. To build schools for us or at least make us proud enough to defend nigeria. Their quest for power is insatiable and I wonder are we the youth the future of tomorrow since all this our leaders refuse to give space for younger and fresh brains.
Am confused and sad right now. Really is there any hope for us with little or no connection, influence or wealth? Should I start disbelieving in this union of "unlikelys" called nigeria? Or shall I remain a member of the statistic- over 200 million citizen- because no body cares. No body
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Visits Super-Eagles In Ethiopia by emeka94(m): 9:26pm On Oct 12, 2013
Personally I think GEJ is the best president naija has ever had. Although his not perfect and at a scale of 1 to 10 he will be falling around 4 or 5 as opposed to Obj, abacha, Ibb, gowon, shagari etc who I think will be around 0.5 to 0.9.

Who will not play like mad if em president use em leg come training ground to encourage him smiley
