PDP Youth Leader Gets 2 Years In Prison For Insulting Buhari A youth leader of PDP in Adamawa, Ikamu Hamidu Kato, has been sentenced to two years in prison for insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and his secretary Boss Mustapha. A chief Magistrate Court on Monday sentenced Kato, PDP’s youth leader in Hong council area,to a yearlong prison term for use of abusive words with a N25,000 fine option. He was also sentenced to yearlong imprisonment for inciting public disturbance, with a N25,000 fine option. Both sentences run concurrently, the chief magistrate Dimas Elishama ruled. The youth leader, 41, described President Muhammadu Buhari and Boss Mustapha as “useless human beings” he specifically called the SGF a “Bastard and a Dog” in a video he posted on social media on 10th of July, 2021, which went viral. The Department of State Security had investigated and arraigned him in court through the office of the justice commissioner for prosecution last Friday. Kato pleaded guilty. The court had adjourned the matter to Monday the 2nd August. On Monday, the prosecution provided two witnesses—a DSS operative Zayyanu Adamu and Husseini Nakura, chairman of Adamawa State Concern Citizen—to testify. Prosecution also tendered confessional statement of Kato and a USB drive as exhibit. The presiding judge said that the court had considered the plea of the convict to temper justice with mercy, his conduct during the trial, his apology, and that he will not be left to go scot free, but be punished to serve as deterrent to others and sentenced him accordingly. https://dailytrust.com/adamawa-pdp-youth-leaders-gets-2-years-in-prison-for-insulting-buhari

IPOB Sues US Secretaries Over Sale Of Fighter Aircraft To Assist Buhari Government "Commit Genocide In South-East" The case was instituted at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, on July 31. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has instituted a lawsuit against the United States Secretary of State, Tony Blinken and Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin over their roles in the supply of A-29 Super Tucano military aircraft to the Nigerian military. In a document sighted by SaharaReporters, the case was instituted at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, on July 31. The group, through its undersigned attorney, Bruce Fein complained of the violation of the Leahy amendments 22 U.S.C. 2378d and 10 U.S.C 2249e and the administrative Procedure Act 5 U.S.C 706 (A) and (C) seeking declarative and injunctive relief against the defendants. The Leahy law refers to two statutory provisions prohibiting the U.S. Government from using funds for assistance to units of foreign security forces where there is credible information implicating that unit in the commission of gross violations of human rights. One statutory provision applies to the State Department headed by Blinken and the other applies to the Department of Defense, Austin. The members of the group in predominantly Imo and Ebonyi states in the south-eastern region of the country said the defendants prohibited the above-stated law through the supply of the aircraft to Nigeria. They stated that it is likely to cause "death, bodily injury, destruction of property by A-29 Super Tucano military aircraft if the planes are delivered by the United States to the government of Nigeria and incorporated into the Nigerian Airforce to assist the ongoing genocide of Biafrans". IPOB identified itself as a registered community interest company that advocates, through peaceful means, an independent Biafran nation separate from Nigeria in the face of the lingering persecution of its citizens by the Nigerian government. The group alleged gross human rights violations by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration citing instances of airstrikes in cities across the South-East. It also stated that officers under the watch of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari had indiscriminately arrested and 'abducted' young Igbo men and women at various locations and their whereabouts are unknown to date. It was also stated that Kyari had presided over the burning of several houses and overseen the damage of properties believed to belong to people advocating for the freedom of Biafra. IPOB, thereafter, called for the suspension of the provision of another set of the A-29 Super Tucano military aircraft to the Nigerian government and also enjoined the United States to recall the ones already supplied to the country. Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had earlier disclosed that the Federal Government would be launching the six Super Tucano fighter aircraft purchased from the United States on Tuesday, August 3. http://saharareporters.com/2021/08/02/ipob-sues-us-secretaries-over-sale-fighter-aircraft-assist-buhari-government-commit

Our arrest, torture by lawless SSS show suffering of Igbos in Nigeria: Israeli Filmmakers The Israeli said they were seized by the SSS at gunpoint and incarcerated without seeing the sun or having any communication with the outside world until they were released 20 days later. Rochman Rudy, one of the three Israeli filmmakers arrested by the State Security Service (SSS), says the torture they suffered at the hands of the Nigerian secret police shows the suffering of Igbos in Nigeria. Peoples Gazette had in July reported that Mr Rochman a Zionist activist was arrested alongside filmmaker Noam Leibman and French-Israeli Journalist E. David Benaym by the SSS over allegations that they supported the activities of outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The trio were arrested during at Ogidi village, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State while shooting a documentary, “We Were Never Lost”, which explores Jewish communities in African countries such as Kenya, Madagascar, Uganda, and Nigeria. They spent 20 days in detention without being charged to court by the Nigerian government. However, in a statement released on his official Twitter page Saturday, Mr Rudy explained that they had set out to tell the story of the Igbo Jews before their unlawful arrest. We only managed to film for two days out of the two weeks planned in Igboland when armed militants wearing black ski masks forced us at gun point into a van, stripping us of our phones and passports. We didn’t see the light of day or had any form of communication with the outside world till we were released 20 days later,” Mr Rudy wrote. Peoples Gazette’s request to SSS for comments on Mr Rudy’s claims was not responded to as of the time of filing this report. Mr Rudy stressed the need to reset focus on the Igbos who have been living in the reality of the 20 days ill-treatment they suffered in the hands of Nigeria’s secret police. “Now that we are back, it’s important to reset and focus on the Igbo Jews who’ve faced what we went through their whole lives and still live with that reality daily,” he added. The Israeli further disclosed that he and his team have been blocked from subsequent visits to Nigeria. Igbos under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration have constantly complained of marginalisation and maltreatment. In May, Mr Buhari in a tweet deemed genocidal threatened to deal with Igbo youths over the destruction of government facilities in the region. The president, in a post shared on his official Twitter page, vowed that “those misbehaving” would “soon have the shock of their lives,” while referencing his role during the 1967 Biafra war where over a million people were gruesomely killed. “Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War,” his deleted post said. “Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand. https://gazettengr.com/our-arrest-torture-by-lawless-sss-show-suffering-of-igbos-in-nigeria-israeli-filmmakers/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

I didn’t call Biafra, Yoruba nation agitators cowards – Onyema, Air Peace boss Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Airline, Chief Allen Onyema, has said there was never a time he called those agitating for separate nations cowards. Onyema was reacting to a news report in a national daily (not Vanguard), titled, “Onyema Blasts Secessionists as Cowards”. In an exclusive interview with Vanguard, the Air Peace boss described the report as a misrepresentation of facts by those who were bent on tarnishing his name. Recall that a news publication had on Thursday, reported that Onyema while speaking in Lagos at the 25th League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents, LAAC, conference, described those calling for break up of Nigeria as cowards who could flee the country at the slightest opportunity. Onyema, however, maintained that he never called members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Yoruba nation agitators, cowards, stressing that he was only canvassing for peaceful resolution of issues in the country. He said: “I never called IPOB or anybody cowards. What I preached in that forum was peace and for people to eschew violence. I was only encouraging people in every part of the country to eschew violence because those who do violence are cowards. The cowards are those who do armed robbery, suicide bombing, kidnapping, and banditry because they can’t brace up with their situation and tackle it peacefully. So, I never called agitators cowards because not everybody that says I want to secede is violent. I also didn’t use the word IPOB or Yoruba nation or Arewa. Therefore, there is no way I could have called those doing agitation cowards. I didn’t. I only called for peaceful resolution of issues. It was one newspaper that screamed a headline, ‘ONYEMA BLASTS SECESSIONISTS AS COWARDS’ that started these false stories. Their headline was different from the body of their report. Other blogs then gave their interpretation from this newspaper’s false headlines to mean IPOB. “Why didn’t other newspaper and media houses present at that conference carry this falsehood? It is obvious that some people yet unknown are out to destroy my name because this is the third time in three weeks that I have been accused falsely of either blasting’ Kanu or IPOB. “I am a non-violence expert and as such, I do not engage in name-calling. I don’t know what the authors of these stories stand to gain. However, one thing is certain, I will always pursue the cause of peace in this country for I believe I am doing God’s work. “Yes, IPOB, Yoruba nation or Arewa have their reasons for doing whatever they are doing. So, we shouldn’t go into bickering or outright condemnation. All we should do is to look at why they are agitating and try to bring them to the discussion table and address the issues. And I believe the country will be better for it in the end. “So, I’m not here to condemn IPOB, Sunday Igboho, Arewa group or to praise them. What I always preach to everybody, be it Arewa, Yoruba nation or IPOB or any group at that, is peace. It is not in my character to condemn people. All I’m preaching is let peace be given a chance and for the government to address those issues they were complaining about”, he stated. Continuing, Onyema, who was instrumental to the dialogue with the Niger Delta militants that culminated in the federal government’s amnesty programme, added, “I am not saying there are no injustices in the country. We want a country where justice, equity and fairness reign, no doubt about that. But we can address these issues peacefully. “I will like to be an instrument of saving this nation from crisis because I believe that one doesn’t need to be a president or governor to contribute their quota. What I did in the Niger Delta, no government did it, not even the international community. Nobody gave me an iota of a belief that this could happen without arms. Nobody ever knew that Niger Delta issues would come to an end at the time it happened.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/07/i-didnt-call-biafra-yoruba-nation-agitators-cowards-onyema-air-peace-boss/

Abba Kyari: Nigeria breeds criminals – Nnamdi Kanu’s disciple, Ekpa tells AmericaPublished on July 31, 2021By Seun Opejobi Simon Ekpa, a disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has reacted to the remarks made by some prominent Nigerians defending Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, despite links to an alleged international fraudster. Ekpa said the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, should pay attention to politicians and dignitaries defending Kyari. FBI had linked Kyari to a suspected internet fraudster, Ramon Abass, popularly known as Hushpuppi. The US agency had linked Kyari to Hushpuppi in a deal worth over $1 million. FBI had claimed that Hushpuppi bribed an errant member of his gang during the prosecution of the fraudulent deal. Following the allegation, some Nigerians had thrown their weight behind the police officer referred to as “Super Cop.” Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, had faulted the allegation linking Kyari to Hushpuppi. Fani-Kayode had described Kyari as a Super Cop. Reacting, Ekpa said the US should use this case to understand that Nigeria breeds criminals. In a tweet, Ekpa wrote: “I urge @FBI to pay serious attention to Nigeria dignitaries, politicians defending and urging Nigeria Government to resist the transfer of Abba Kyari to America to face the charges of cybercrime and fraud. The FBI should now understand that Nigeria breeds criminals, the need for Biafra.” https://dailypost.ng/2021/07/31/abba-kyari-nigeria-breeds-criminals-nnamdi-kanus-disciple-ekpa-tells-america/
