Celebrities / Shina Peller Gives Back To Society (photos) by emmalezy(m): 11:52pm On Jun 06, 2016
Business Mogul and entrepreneur, Shina Peller turned 40 on the 14th of May 2016 and held a series of high profile events spread over a week to celebrate the milestone. However in furtherance of his philosophy of youth human capital development and consistently supporting the less privileged, Shina Peller took time out to visit three schools where he distributed state of the art educational tablets preloaded with academic syllabus.

He also awarded scholarships to the ten best students from three schools in Lagos; Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted, Kuramo Senior College and Victoria Island Secondary School.

The tablets and the scholarships are a reward for academic excellence which aims to spur positive competition amongst the students and ultimately raise the educational standards in public schools. According to Mr Peller ;going to a public school should not be a disadvantage, neither should it limit the dreams and ambitions of the students.

Speaking with students at Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted after donating an undisclosed sum of money along with desperately needed teaching aids, Mr Peller who is a patron of the school encouraged pupils that they can be whatever they wanted to be reminding them that people like Cohbams Asuquo passed through the same school and have become successful and respected individuals in the country. He promised to give the best two students in the school scholarships throughout their secondary education.

During his visit to Victoria Island Secondary School and Kuramo College, Shina gave powerful speeches at both schools to motivate students on the importance of education as a potent way to avoid poverty. He also distributed educational tablets to select teachers in recognition of their outstanding efforts towards teaching the students.
He also visited Lagos State Motherless Babies Home in Lekki which is also a yearly custom and donated much needed items which match their current needs.

Mr Peller also called on other well meaning Nigerians to continue to support the youth and less privileged in a bid to spur inclusive growth in our nation.

Celebrities / Singer Small Doctor Beaten In Agege by emmalezy(m): 10:24pm On Jun 05, 2016
Young men in the Agege area of Lagos threw caution to the wind by descending on one of Nigerian’s song superstars, Small Doctor.
Small Doctor had stormed Agege stadium to perform in an event organized by WinnersGoldenbet when he was assaulted by those who claimed to be his fans.
Winners goldenBet had organized a friendly football match involving some foreign super Eagles players and their local counterpart at the Agege Stadium.
After the match, which featured the likes of Ogenyi Onazi, Gbolahan Salami, Dele Alamkpasu and others, SmallDoctor was aided to his car in the parking lot. The fans who unknown to him had waited, ambushed him and prevented him from entering the car. The presence of his private aides and security personnel did little or nothing to stop the rampaging fans.
It was discovered, the fans had insisted on having Small Doctor to part with some money for them which the song star was not favourably disposed to grant since he too was. The argument soon degenerated into fisticuffs which led to the superstar given the beating of his life.
The security men on duty could only help to watch as one of the Nation’s song ambassadors was overpowered and manhandled even as others helped themselves with jewelries. Despite the swollen face of Small Doctor, the situation was not brought under control till he parted with some cash for the fans.

While she was in US, the two posted pictures of themselves in each others company on their various instagram pages and based on info from our source, there seem to be more going on between these two. Rumour has it that they were always found in each other's arms every time they were seen together. Also, they were spotted at the church where indo baba is known to attend in the US and various outings from shopping to dinner at exquisite hotels, Toyin was said to be all over him, and indo couldn't let go off her for a moment. As of now, nothing has been confirmed because both parties have been silent about it. Politics / 8 Months After 7 DSS Officers Went Missing In Lagos by emmalezy(m): 1:01pm On May 27, 2016
8 months of pains, tears and sorrows, as the Federal Government and DSS are still mute on the whereabouts of seven Department of State Security (DSS) officers that went missing 8 months ago at the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

One of the families have petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari to open a thorough investigation and unfold the mystery behind their disappearance. But it is sad, that up till now nothing has been done or said by the Federal government or DSS on their whereabouts.

Let Nigerians ask why the DSS should keep silent on the sudden disappearance of their gallant officers who were on national assignment…What a great country that one will put his or her life down for?.

Also petitioned in the letter titled: “A plea for thorough investigation into the case of seven missing DSS operatives with Lagos Command,” were the Senate, the Inspector General of the Police (IGP) ,Solomon Arase and the Attorney -General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami.

Note:

Seven DSS officers went on a mission to rescue a kidnapped woman on the 15th of September 2015. Since then till now, no word or any form of contact from the 7 of them till today, while the woman was released two days later by the kidnappers.

A copy of the petition below:
The President and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria
Honourable Members of Senate
Federal Republic of Nigeria
Inspector General of Police
Federal Republic of Nigeria
Attorney General of the Federation
Federal Republic of Nigeria
Dear all,
A plea for thorough investigation into the case of 7 missing DSS operatives with Lagos Command.
First, I want to state that my confidence lies with the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria who I supported all the way from the United States because of my confidence that he has the capacity to restore the lost hopes of the Nigerian masses. On this note, sir, this letter becomes particularly urgent due to the inability of my family to establish any veracity on the information of 7 missing DSS operatives of which my brother is among them, since September 15, 2015.
Sir, I need not dramatize my unimaginable mental burden, nor that of my family members, that after 4 months, the DSS Office cannot inform us on the whereabouts of my own brother who, along with his 6 colleagues, were sent to work from their Lagos command on September 15, 2015.
Incessant visits by my family members back in Nigeria to the office of the DSS in Lagos since September 15 has consistently left everyone with a most traumatic and painful experience as the Lagos Director, Mr Ajanaku, kept telling them that he believes that my brother and his colleagues are alive and hidden somewhere in the creeks. This information, quite unprofessional as it has been, is becoming tellingly unsavoury, objectionable and most devastating to the entire family members, especially with the passing days.
The DSS cannot permanently keep silent on a serious matter of national concern as this. In the United States when such incidents happen, it takes Sheriff few hours to go on air and inform the citizens. It is the right of CITIZENS to get informed.
Sir, this letter is pertinent and expedient for a number of reasons:

My missing brother’s wife confirmed that her husband told her that they were going for the rescue of a kidnapped woman in Ikorodu contrary to ubiquitous newspaper and online reports that they were going to hunt down pipeline vandals or going for the funeral of their fallen colleague. This matter needs to be investigated.
My family members back home in Nigeria went to the DSS office in Lagos many times where my brother’s director assured them that they went to work and were kidnapped and that the DSS is negotiating for their release. At other times the director said that the military and the Navy have taken over the matter. The question is: How could the military and Navy take over the investigation of a kidnap case of highly placed senior officers of DSS when they (the DSS) are adept at cracking high profile kidnap cases. We, and the entire Nigerians, smelt the rat somewhere. It is already 4 months since they disappeared. Sir, I ask: for how long will this negotiation last? We demand an urgent official pronouncement on this matter. It is long overdue.
My conclusion is that the 7 DSS operators left for Ikorodu from the DSS office in Lagos, with official vehicles under OFFICIAL INSTRUCTION and up till today never came back.It will amount to total blackmail and a most unforgiving case of transgression should the DSS permanently silence them by keeping silent on their matter ad infinitum.
Let Nigerians demand why the DSS should kept silent on the sudden disappearance of their gallant officers who were on national assignment and refuse to even ask their families how they have been faring!
It became expediently imperative to write this letter to the president, Distinguished Senators and, indeed, Nigerians, given our suspicion that an attempt is being made to sweep many facts under the carpet. I, and the rest of my family members, need to fight back. While we strongly believe that EVERY HIDDEN SCHEMING on this matter must be exposed in the end, we are particularly worried about the fate of our brother’s life.
From many newspaper and online reports Arepo in Ikorodu area where this incident took place is shamefully and deplorably constructed on a fragileedifice of danger, sham, disorder, oppression and recklessness. These are crimes perpetrated by corrupt politicians and other criminals who collaborate with pipeline vandals to loot this great nation. I am confident that President Muhammadu Buhari is vehemently committed to restoring the lost hopes of common men and women like us.
This case is being threatened by a conspiracy of silence. Why would this matter made to suffer from suspected intrigues of dismissal and obvious insouciance? It must be stated that the silenced even in death fights back!
DSS office in Lagos who claimed that ‘they went to work’ has not cared to ask the wives of the missing officers how they fared.
The directors of DSS all over Nigeria need to ask questions about the whereabouts of their gallant officers!Common sense tells us that this is a simplest gesture, and demonstration, of espiritde corps among the rank and file. Does it mean that the DSSethicsnegates this salient attribute of camaraderie among officers?
I strongly reject this aggressive and inhuman tendency from the DSS. These missing guys are human beings with wives and children yet they are being treated like common animals. This is a show of aggressive impunity and corrosive erosion of professionalismand must be rejected by well-meaning Nigerians.

Action Sought:
1. That the president and members of Senate should compel the DSS to inform Nigerians on the present state of the 7 missing DSS operators, whether they are still alive or not?
2. That the president and members of Senate should institute an investigation into the missing DSS operators: their mission to Arepo or Ishawo as manyRUMOURS now, further, threaten their precarious disappearance. RUMOURS must be debunked for the sake of public good. A public pronouncement by the DSS on this matter is long overdue.
3. That the president and members of Senate should direct the DSS to make official pronouncement on the current status of the missing DSS operatives.
4. That the president and members of Senate should compel the DSS to urgently make the salaries and entitlements of the 7 missing DSS operatives available to their jobless wives and hungry children and urgently take full financial responsibility of the families as the director of their Lagos command claimed that they went on official duty and are not yet back. Reason and responsibility demand that the DSS should cater to the temporary financial needs of the families until they are back.
5.That the president and members of Senate should direct the DSS to collaborate with other security operatives to end the mayhem perpetrated by oil thieves, terrorists, corrupt politicians and locals in Arepo and Ikorodu who have killed many innocent citizens.
Sir, having scrutinized the above requests, I am convinced that they are covered within the precincts of my fundamental human rights under the Freedom of Information Bill as provided by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Sincerely,
Uchechi Mercy Obiorah, Dallas, Texas
United States.

Ace Nigerian music video director, Clarence Peters, according to latest information has been robbed of his production valuables and other belongings in Accra, Ghana.

Reggie Rockstone of VVIP fame has confirmed the robbery incident to Accra-based Radio Gold on Thursday afternoon and described it as unfortunate and a disgrace to Ghana.

Clarence Peters who was in Ghana to work with VVIP and other artistes like Stonebwoy and Patoranking lost items including a hard drive which contained rushes of VVIP’s upcoming video with Patoranking and also works of Stonebwoy worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

“When we shot the video and then his crew who lived in East Airport Guest House…He brought his own camera crew who he has been working with for years and then he stayed at Alisa Hotel. Tuesday night by 2: 00am we saw the CTTV footage, a young man neatly dressed, walked into the room and picked up the bag and walked out. I mean this is the creepiest thing with people still sleeping in the room. Now the footage is not too clear and we don’t know what happened in the room,” he said.

According to Reggie, “VVIP, Stonebwoy, Clarence Peters and Patoranking are ready to offer a sum of ten thousand US dollars ($10,000) to anybody who would help to recover the lost items.”

Politics / Court Orders FG, Okonjo-iweala To Account For ‘missing N30tn’ by emmalezy(m): 1:34pm On May 22, 2016
The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Goodluck Jonathan led administration to account for N30 trillion said to have been missing or unaccounted for while they were in government.

Justice Ibrahim Buba had given the order in a Freedom of Information suit number FHC/L/CS/196/2015 filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

SERAP’s filed the suit following revelations by the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Soludo, that at least N30 trillion “has either been stolen or unaccounted for, or grossly mismanaged over the last few years under the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s watch.” SERAP had approached the court to order the former Minister and the Federal government to provide it with information on the said N30 trillion.

Delivering judgement in the suit last week, Justice Buba said,

“Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the Federal Government have no legally justifiable reason for refusing to provide SERAP with the information requested for. The Court has gone through the application and agrees that SERAP’s application has merits and the argument is not opposed. SERAP’s application is granted as prayed.”

The judgment by Buba reads in part:

“Preliminary objection by Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the federal government is misconceived, the court upholds the arguments by SERAP for the reasons stated herein.

“SERAP commenced this proceeding by way of Originating Summons dated 23 February 2015 and filed 25 February 2015. Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the Federal Government filed a Memorandum of Conditional Appearance, a Notice of Preliminary Objection and written address, all undated but filed on 29 September 2015.

“The preliminary objection is on the following grounds: that SERAP did not obtain the mandatory leave of the Federal High Court to issue and serve the Originating Summons and other processes outside Lagos State; that there is no mandatory endorsement on the Originating Summons that it is to be served on Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the Federal Government in Abuja and outside jurisdiction of this Court.

“The only issue for determination is whether Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the federal government should be heard on their preliminary objection considering the totality of the circumstances of this case.

“He who wants equity must do equity. This suit was filed on 25 February 2015 and from the record of the court was served on Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the Federal Government on 3 July, 2015. It took about 3 months for them to come up with technical response to the simple request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2011.

“Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the Federal Government have therefore been caught by Order 29 of the Rules of this Court, which requires that an application shall be made within 21 days after service on the Defendants of the originating summons.

“If Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the federal government want to raise issues about service, the law does not permit of demurer. The proper route for them should have been to join issues with the originating summons and also file their objections. In the present case by SERAP, the Notice of Preliminary Objection by Mrs Okonjo-Iweala and the federal government is incurably defective for not conforming to order 29 of the Rules of this Court.”

Politics / President Buhari's Anti-corruption Adviser Resigns Over Examination Malpractice by emmalezy(m): 12:36pm On May 22, 2016
A member of President Muhammadu Buhari's Advisory Committee against Corruption, who is embroiled in an examination malpractice scandal, has resigned from the committee after a report exposed her.

Benedicta Daudu

We reported it here yesterday that in an authoritative report on Premium Times, a member of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption, Benedicta Daudu, was embroiled in an examination malpractice scandal at the University of Jos (UNIJOS).

In a text message to the publication late on Saturday, the executive secretary of the committee, Bolaji Owasanoye, confirmed that the committee discussed the allegation against Mrs. Daudu, and she 'voluntarily' stepped down from the committee until the matter is officially dealt with by the authorities of the University of Jos.

“The Presidential Advisory Committee on Corruption has discussed the allegations against Dr Benedicta Daudu based on information in the public domain and Dr Benedicta Daudu has voluntarily stepped down from the committee until the matter is officially concluded by the university,” he wrote.

Our earlier report revealed that on Saturday, Mrs. Daudu, an associate professor of law and head of the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law of the Faculty of Law in University of Jos (UNIJOS), was allegedly caught cheating while writing an examination for a Master’s degree in Research and Public Policy in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the same university.

The associate professor who has a Masters in Law, was working towards another master in Research and Public Policy.

The department accused her of sneaking in prepared answers, also referred to as 'chokes' by students, during the examination for the Global Context in Public Policy course.

Sources said the matter was subsequently reported to the university’s examination committee but some students and faculty claimed there were attempts at cover ups by the university authorities.

Politics / PMB Appoints Muhammed Babandede As Acting Comptroller-general Of Immigration by emmalezy(m): 11:12am On May 22, 2016
President Buhari has appointed Muhammed Babandede as the interim Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS). The former Immigration boss Martin Abeshi who was appointed by the President on August 27, 2015, was reportedly fired after holding the position in an acting capacity for six days. At the time of his appointment, he had already been slated to proceed on a three-month terminal leave beging from October 2015.

The removal of Abeshi was contained in a letter, (pictured)which was signed by Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau(rtd) the Minister of Interior on Tuesday, May 17, entitled: 'notification of retirement'. The letter directed Abechi to hand over to Babandede(pictured) with immediate effect.

reports that the reason for his sack may be connected with his handling of the recent replacement in the service. The CG allegedly employed his third wife and his eldest son into the service. Both recruits were said to be under-going training in Kano.

Until his appointment, Mr. Babandede was in charge of the Operations and Passport Directorate of the service.

Politics / Asari Dokubo: Chibok Is A Scam, No Girl Was Found Because No Girls Were Missing by emmalezy(m): 2:20pm On May 20, 2016
PASS THE MESSAGE....NO MISSING CHIBOK GIRL HAD BEEN FOUND....BECAUSE NO GIRLS WERE MISSING....CHIBOK IS A SCAM.
I don't think many of us still remember that the Kidnap Chibok Girls were science students studying for the final physics WAEC Examination at the time of their abduction. The school was not in session during the attack but the SS3 students (Girls) were kept the school hostel to sit for the last paper.
Here is my own curiousity; why were those rescued or found unable to speak a simple English Language except their local languages in their interviews since this drama started?
Abi dem dey teach physics for Hausa too?
Na so Physics popular for the North that almost 300 girls wan write the examination in one school?
I dont get it...epp me please!
