No one will ever understand why some people are broke or work hard with nothing to show for it, until you experience it yourself.

Every rich or average rich man will think broke ones are lazy or dull until he become broke himself.

No man become wise or have deep understanding of life withiout being broke once in his life time.
So so true
Just the way those who are brilliant think others who are not are lazy and don't study hard nor ready their books

You can work hard and still be poor.
The dark forces are 100% real.
That is to show you life is unfair.
You may be hardworking, smart and punctual yet financially struggling.
In this situation, many people turn to church and the pastor claiming spiritual attack, don't let anyone deceive you, so many people are passing through the same thing.

I'm still struggling to see the financial gain in keeping my money in MMF that fluctuate between 19-22% or buying a sukuk @19.75%, then apply to get a loan at above 28%.

From my layman judgement, isn't it better to use my fund to solve the pressing need rather than keep it in MMF or bonds?

I would love to be enlightened on the benefits of taking the loan.
If you solve the pressing need, the money is gone forever but if you invest it and use it to get a loan, it is still your money.
Let's assume you have 10m and buy a car of 5m, you will be left with 5m.
But if you put the 10m in MF and get a loan of 5m, you will buy the car while still getting roughly 2m per year from your investment.
In roughly 4/5 years, you will pay back the loan while still keeping the car and your invested money

Just coming back from Ecobank and FBNQUEST to make inquiries about T Bill first:
Ecobank told me the rate is 16% for 365 days and 250 days only .
No 3 months or 6 months .
And the ecobank person told me I can’t use my Tbill to get Loan that I am giving the money to fed not them.
I am looking for options where I can get loan also .

I left there went to FBNQUEST in Port-Harcourt the fine sexy lady I met there told me they don’t do T Bills only MMF that the rate is 20% . But they will pay me quarterly which is for 3 month ,.

The lady told me they don’t give loan or I can not use it for loan too.

Wanted to invest 10m after calculating the interest it was about 450k for 3m month.

Just thinking about it . I was hoping they will pay the interest upfront like T bill.

Please house which investment option pay like T bill ?

Fun fact 🤩
I was already calculating the 20% for 3 months more than enough to pay my rent, dividend the 20% interest into 12 sound funny 😄.

I was hoping
To get loan with your mutual fund or MMF, you will have to use brokers like united capital.
They are the one am using and have gotten loan twice from them using my stock broking account and mutual fund account.
The one i got 2 weeks ago interest was 29% per annum.
The good thing about their loan is that you don't need any collateral aside your investment with them, you don't need a guarantor neither unlike traditional banks.
Another good thing is the mode of payment - it is bullet payment unlike traditional banks were you pay back the loan and interest on monthly basis. You only pay back their own after 6 months but if you can't, you can roll it over for another 6 months and keep doing that for like 3-5 years provided you are paying the 6 months interest. which is about 14.5% every 6 months pending when you clear the loan or worst case if you can't, instruct them to use your MMF to clear it.
And you also get the loan within 3 days. No contact, no calls, everything done online by your e-mail - form filling, signature etc

Better protect your bald head oooo.
Some people are targeting to hit you with a big stone on it if you talk of raising fund again.

Ellah has raised funds twice in my presence as a shareholder then.

Na production we want to hear.Telluria is making money in Billions. If shareholders will dig Telluria investments in Ellah, they will be alright.
It is not about what the shareholders think or if they don't want to hear another round of capital raise.
Numbers don't lie and have explained why they will need to raise another capital again.
They only have 23m cash in bank, they spend roughly 1b per year running the farm - worker's salary, herbicides, fuel etc
so where will the money come from?
Definitely not bank since they will need to be paying back the capital and interest as soon as possible.
So the best option is equity that won't be pressuring them for capital and interest instantly.
Numbers don't lie and have done that above.

Ok. I dont see the relevance. This business is in the startup stage so its understandable that revenue should be nil or next to nil. How people dont see this is mind boggling. Or maybe those that do just dont post about it.
Have gone through their financial report quickly and noticed they burn roughly 400m per quarter in free cash flow.
200m plus to operate the business (operating cash flow) and another roughly 200m in capital expenditure.
Plus or minus, they will be using 1b per year to run the farm pending when it will start generating meaningful revenue.
current OS is 3.86b
Cash at hand as at 31st jan, 2025 was 23m
current assets is about 25b that can be converted to cash to run the biz within a year.
Given it will take another 3 years before Ellah lake will be generating enough revenue to finance itself,
They may likely have to raise atleast 3b more to do that PROVIDED they couldn't convert their current assets to cash to do that.
That will dilute the shares about 100% more, probably seeing the price go down to #1.5/shares before experiencing price appreciation we are anticipating.
We will see how the management run the biz on quarterly basis

Most people here are traders and investors, not venture capitalist.
Ellah is in stage 1 of business cycle.
Agree, many start-ups fail. Infact 90% fails within 5 years
But if it scales it, a return of 10000% and more in capital invested is not unusual or uncommon to venture capitalist.
Ellah will need to raise more capital through equity or private placement which will dilute the shares one more time before profit if they get it right.
I will check their free cash flow yearly to know how much they will need to raise again.

RomanceRe: 7 Wrong Places Young Men Look For A Wife By Elonaires by emmaodet: 4:54pm On May 09, 2025
pansophist:
The best way to get a wife is through referral (AKA arranged marriage).

Let someone you know, that you trust, and have your best interest at heart help you search for a wife. If you choose a wife yourself, you are more likely to choose base on wrong reasons.

A woman that you find attractive can easily pass as a good wife. Especially when she knows you want a wife, and she may act as a camouflage of a good wife-to-be.

With referral, there is something called ''third-party accountability''.The referral has a sense of accountability to the outcome of your union, and it is in his best interest for the the relationship to work.

Also, referrers can see things objectively, they know you, and your potential wife, and can vouch for the suitability of both parties. A referrers will not look for a wife through social media for you.

It most likely will be a girl they have known for long, and everyone knows who she is. So you will have no fear if you are marrying a repentant public property. Referral by design will filter the rubbishes out.

The area that you might have to compromise on is on attraction, because a referred wife might not make your preek stand

But in the end, we will all settle. It is up to you if you want a beautiful marriage, or a warzone because you married a lady with a big behind.
You are right but this generation think it is archaic and backward yet we have seen how disastrous their choices are.
I married my wife based on family connection and matchmaking and I have rest of mind.
It would have been disastrous for me if I had picked myself then because 9 months out of a year, I was always at work and won't be able to even date well

. Stock market is a weighing machine. With time everything settle at it real value. Company earnings jumping to N14 this quarter, previous quarter N10, just like Nestlé Operating profit to revenue. That massive pricing power. Earnings are very vital in stock revaluation. This might be N400 in 2 years once rates are down.
My concern with stocks like betaglass and vitafoam is the business itself.
Vitafoam is not your everyday consumption. You buy it once and for the next 10 years, you may not need another one coupled with the fact that there are many competitors I. The market.
So the earnings may not be consistent.
For Betaglass, the long term sustainability is shaky because government is forcing companies to be switching away from bottles.
I am even surprised that they made grate sales in Q1/25.
Not only did they sell a lot of what they produced, their inventory went down alot which is impressive.
Wondered what happened between January and March to warrant that since it is not festive period when people drink a lot.
But what is obvious is their operating leverage.
Since management and companies have little to none control over cost of goods affecting gross margins, the bulk of reducing operating expenses lies on good management of a company which they have proved.
That is a good management there

That is what I think it is worth as at the time of my valuation.
If you think a keg of palm oil worths 50k if you take it to market in Lagos, why do you want to buy it at the same 50k from the village?
I preferred to have entered 100-110 leaving a good margin of safety.
At 145-165? The margin of safety becomes risky. My valuation may be wrong and I want a good breathing space for it
