The book Why Stocks Go Up and Down.
This book won’t teach you how to trade or use specific trading platforms, but it provides a simplified and clear overview of how the stock market works.

Once you’ve gone through it, you can ask your questions on Gemini — it’s great at helping you understand concepts — or feel free to bring your questions here.

It's getting messier, and the US Consumers are gonna Pay the Price, literally.

Trade wars may sound patriotic to MAGAs until iPhone, microwave, or their favorite Nike sneakers starts to costs 20% more. With China retaliating, US companies will struggle to absorb costs and push them to the average Joe, and Karen.

Everyone knows tariffs are just a tax in disguise, and this disguise is getting real expensive.

With this, Donald Trump's biggest headache would not be external, but internal and when the push comes to shove, he'll not be spared from the wrath of the average Americans who are just trying to survive.
Tariffs do work though, because there is a limit the consumers you are pushing the cost would absorb before alternative forgone will take place in economics.
The consumers mostly have fixed salaries, so with rising cost without any appreciating salary, alternative forgone will kick in.
If rice becomes too expensive, beans and garri become your regular foods.
If coke and other minerals become too expensive, you switch to zobo to share in your party and people will understand.
If chicken becomes too expensive on Xmas day, you switch to buying beef in the market that you can afford.
If Toyota becomes too expensive, you get used to Honda and nissan

I agree Nigeria should have been diversified by now but the worries about low oil prices is not just a Nigerian thing though.
It’s a worry for all nations with oil as a major source of export except you are U.S and Saudi Arabia. Even in U.S, the uncertainty is affecting crude oil producers. The big producers like Exon with lesser operating costs may be able to cope with low oil prices but not small producers in the U.S.
I agree.
It only means they are all reckless fathers who always meet at the bar every night to drink and carry prostitutes instead of investing.
They all should accept whatever befalls them.

Oil around that price is sure recession for all oil dependent economies, so you should highlight that 'hope' again for the sake of Nigerians who don't know what is encroaching.
Whatever befalls Nigeria is all her fault.
Who works in an oil. Company like shell, earning 3m per month with other income totalling 5/6m per month, yet doesn't diversity and invest part into other investment.
Rather, he is always in the club drinking to stupor, even owing the club owner debts. Owes the hotel owner debts for sleeping in 7 start hotels with his concubines, took massive mortgage for house and car just to keep showing off as a big man working with shell.
If such person is laid off after 20 years in service, it means he is a fool for not having any savings nor investment and if the children that were ignored, throw out of school for having a reckless father who comes home late, drunk and always beating their mother, not always dropping feeding money are all watching and hoping nothing befalls them when their father goes out of job, then, they are not any better.
Don't plan with Nigeria. Have your own plans

In fact, if Brent drops to $50, drillers will start winding down production, given Nigera's high cost of production. There are things I refrain from uttering here, to avoid triggering panic selling.
The whole oil and gas industry is really experiencing a cut back in finance and budget.
Many oil rigs don't run night shifts again, just day duty alone thereby dropping half workers.
Even ports have reduced so many workers and night crew and few and in some areas, none.
I observed this at kizomba alpha, bravo at block-15 at Soyo, Angola, same in Luanda sonils port, likewise cabinda.
From Congo to Gabon to Nigeria, the story is the same.
Honestly, being in the industry, I am not really bullish on the long term of the industry.

This trade war between the US and China tends to last for a while to see who burge first.
Just look at another matter brewing in the UK, where the parliament had to come back from a recess to potentially renationalise British Steel from heading into a total collapse.

While I don't agree with some part of Trump’s tariff push but a man’s go to do what he gotta to remain as a world leader.
Lol.... To the extent of destroying other countries that wants to chase their own dreams and paths? Like Iran, Libya, Iraq, north Korea etc ?
US can pursue what is good for their own best interest but other countries can't, as a matter of fact, they would be bombed back to stone age and sanctioned to death for doing that.
Many dare not even think of converting their foreign reserves away from dollars not to think of doing it. The US will sponsor unrest to destabilize such economy and topple the government.
It's well

China might decide to further devalue its currency, potentially causing economic difficulties for the US. Trump would accuse China of currency manipulation as usual, a criticism he voiced during his presidency. In 2019, he labeled China a currency manipulator, claiming it deliberately devalued its currency to boost exports and circumvent US tariffs.
Lol.
And is the US herself not a currency manipulator? Printing world reserve currency at will without taking the depositor's inflation effect into consideration.
Are they not also arm-swinging other countries with their dollars? Or seizing other countries reserve with them? E. g Russia, Syria and Iran

To be honest Russia and China ain't serious at all. They are not ready for multipolarism if they can't challenge and confront US on some issues. This Iran nuclear issue is an example. They should not allow US to always have its way. Who is America to keep dictating what Iran should and should not do after it was the same US who walked out of this working deal that the P5+1 inked with Iran.

Russia and China are part of the P5+1 for God sake so who is US to keep dictating among the P5+1? I think this was a deal everyone of them made with Iran. If US continue to go unchallenged this way then it will continue to disrespect Russia and China and see them as unserious and weak countries it could oppress. We all know how US use to defend and even veto any resolution that does not favour Israel in the UN. Anyway may be Iran is not important to Russia and China afterall.

Russia and China are very unserious. If they want a multipolar world where America shows them respect they should be ready to challenge America's decisions most especially this act of unilateralism. We don't have a multipolar world if America still thinks it can act unilaterally while seeing other powers like Russia and China as irrelevant. I'm beginning to think Russia and China even fear America. I am even amazed at how Russia is saying it would make sure Iran and US have a good deal is this about Iran and US or about the whole P5+1/UN? Very shocking to hear instead of you and China to keep challenging this act of unilateralism. Dem never ready for multipolarism.
Honestly. No country will take them serious if they don't protect their allies.
Someone said maybe Iran is not important to them and I ask, how many allies do they even have in the first place to be throwing Iran under the bus?
The more allies you have the better for you militarily and economically because your allies will always defy UN and US sanctions against you, they will always trade more with you than the west thereby boosting each other economically and reducing sanctions impacts on your economy.
Allies are a soft springboards for launching missiles or flying your jets to attack or closing their air against enemy missiles or closing their sea route against enemy ships etc
Allies are very very important because a tree doesn't make a forest.
If political leaders can't count on you to protect them against the big bullys if they protect your interest, that there is no guarantee from you their economy won't be destroyed or their seats won't be taken away from them and given to an opponent, then nobody will take you serious to come under your umbrella

⚡U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent Warns China Against Currency Devaluation.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned China against devaluing its currency in response to new tariffs, stating that such a move would be a “tax on the rest of the world.” Bessent urged China not to take this step and instead come to the table for negotiations.
Lol
It is not funny that the people constantly telling Nigeria to keep devaluing her naira that the naira is too strong and the same people worried and screaming that china shouldn't devalue her currency again?
That means no matter how good your predators plans are, it always have a loophole to exploit if you are wise enough.
The west know this but they didn't believe any nation will go that far to exploit it. They didn't see China coming
They didn't forsee the Chinese Factor

The manufacturers in Vietnam and including Nigeria are majorly Chinese. How many American companies have opened manufacturing facilities in Nigeria? grin

Why do you people think any country can out-do China in manufacturing? Labour costs are actually higher in China than Vietnam and India, yet companies prefer to manufacture in China because of its unparalleled depth of suppliers, technicians and engineers, cheap energy etc. This is a country that mints engineers every year with a ruthless work efficient system.

▪️A potential U.S. attack on Iran could have dire consequences for the region.

▪️If an attack occurs, Moscow won’t be obligated to provide military aid to Tehran but will take all measures to resolve the conflict, said Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister.

▪️Experts from Russia, Iran, and China are meeting in Moscow to discuss the future of the JCPOA amid the U.S.’s push for a military solution.
I don't like the way Russia and china are not protecting their allies.
If smaller countries can't have their back like the US/NATO do, then smaller countries should just leaves them and negotiate with US in peace.
China and Russia should know they really need allies. The more they have the easier it makes their jobs.

Like I said here before, Trump is counting on the idea that the world needs the U.S. more than the U.S. needs the world. But this can’t go on for long—if it does, the resulting inflation that Americans will feel could be severe, potentially leading to mass protests.

There’s a reason international trade exists: it helps keep costs down. Without it, things are about to get a lot more expensive for the average American.

And by the way, if Trump’s logic is that the world has been ripping America off, then how has the U.S. been comfortably paying for its trade deficit? By printing more dollars, of course. In other words, America has been enjoying foreign goods by simply printing money. That’s wild when you think about it. undecided
In other words, US has been ripping other countries off for donkey years by simply going inside to print more dollars when they need it. A leverage, others don't have.
Many third world countries had been experiencing double inflation for years due to dollars.
Firstly, local inflation from their national currencies.
Secondly, second inflation from their sovereign wealth fund deposit and foreign reserves in dollars due to dollar inflation and printing.
So while struggling to tame local inflation and devaluation, they are also regularly brazing for dollars inflation impacts regularly.
How will a country grow in such climate?
