Hi everyone
Happy new month
I came across a comment on Facebook where one said she’s using her extra 1k or 2k to buy stocks every week and that particular comment struck my interest.

As a naira lander, I ran here cos I know here is the best place to learn more without falling. I don’t want to be a trader at least not now, I just want to be like the commenter above cos I no too get money but I want to compound my dividends for future purposes.

Please fam, lead me on a baby steps on how to go about this. Thanks to you all 🙏
It's simple and possible. For you to buy stock on the NGX, the minimum amount is the price of one unit plus commission for that particular stock. So if you have 1k or 2k you can transfer it to your stockbroking account and buy the quantity that amount can afford.
However, because of charges here and there, most clients will prefer to keep their cash and do transfers from 5k or more.

I dey about to run away from anything with dz company name. I've been trading stocks through them for some time now, I hardly get information about the amount a stock is bought or sold on my behalf except I asked & it will take them weeks to respond & God blessed them with a good lady that always answer call when body do her , she go talk down on person always making person feel sad for even calling to seek information.
Sorry about that. Things are getting improved. However, I will relate your feedback to the appropriate authority

I am actually in the mutual fund segment that is what I sell for them. I can assure you u will have a good experience. I will personally make sure that happens.

Nice one
Please how reliable are these guys ?

It’s not only about the high rates, investors confidence also matters
Reliable like the ones you already know. Norrenberger have interest in asset management, insurance, stocks etc. They are SEC regulated, before I could post it here I have also done my dd moreover as a matter of principle and investment decorum I don't represent or do business with unregulated firms.
You can reach out to me if you need further clarification.

Is there an index fund that tracks the NSE or an index fund one can invest in from Nigeria that tracks the global market in a weighted proportion?
The ETF segment of the NGX is not very vibrant currently. However, there are few in the ETF board of the NGX. You can participate using your stock/cscs account through your stockbroker.

The biggest mistake an investor can make is to avoid the market because the market is bearish.

Bear market is the time to sow and compound your portfolio, bull market is the time to harvest and diversify your investments
Unfortunately many newbies and some folks who have been in the market for some time now but don't really understand the market do the opposite of the bolded.

Good day boss, pls I havea question, that's if you don't mind, pls do you have an idea on how share certificates Dematerializion works? I submitted some share certificates to my broker meristem since the beginning of the month, and till now, whenever I chat their support up they keep telling me they are still working on it. Feedback will be appreciated sir, thanks.
Share certificates Dematerializion involves
1. The stockbroking firm
2. The registrars to the company's shares
3. Cscs Plc.
Among the three parties the bulk of the work is at the registrars office. The broker intiates while cscs receives after the job has been done at the registrars office.
At the registrars office, they check and scrutinize the ownership by confirming your signature among other things. If positive, they send the outcome to cscs and your shares are deposited electronically in your cscs account.
The time it takes them to do this is what gives the duration of demat process basically.

Most of the stockbroking firm will send out your certificates within three days and they just keep waiting till the registrars answer them.

However, all things being equal, without any irregularities from the investors details with the registrars, demat process is three weeks max.

Is this a SEC regulated investment? Who is the Trustee to the investment? What is the minimum amount required for investment?
Yes, my oga. you know na I can't be involved with a firm or product that are not SEC-regulated.

The Fund is managed by Norrenberger Investment and Capital Management Limited (“NICML”). The Trustee to the Fund is DLM Trust Company Limited while the Custodian is Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC and Solicitor is The Metropolitan Law Firm.

minimum investment is $550

Norrenberger bought International energy insurance some time ago. Norrenberger is a group involved in securities, Asset mgt, pension, and insurance.

What does NDF stand for? If I am correct, it stands for Non-Deliverable Forward, a financial instrument used to hedge foreign exchange exposure (high-level gambling). How does it relate to investing in Eurobonds?
Your guess is very far from what NDF means in this context. Just an acronym of the fund manager and it stands for Norrenberger Dollar Fund.

Please name the companies that have issued Eurobonds? 😏

You dey talk sovereign Eurobonds like say they are risk free. Go and ask people wey invest in Ghana Eurobonds how far….
Is there anyone who ever told you that dollar funds ( sovereign eurobonds) are risk-free? In fact, did anyone ever say there is any investment that is risk-free?
The categories we have as far as investment is concerned are low, medium, or high-risk investment windows/products. Fund managers will usually advise investors to key in based on their risk appetite ie invest in what they can cope with and help to manage risk professionally. The norm is that the higher the returns the higher the risk and vice versa.

How can they offer 12.13% on USD investments when there are no underlying assets that can offer such rates? Max you can get for USD fixed income are from USD treasury bills and this is around 5 to 6%. How can these guys be paying more? 🤔

Abi na risky African Eurobonds dem dey invest in? You want people here to lose their life savings abi huh
The yield on the NDF at the end of Q2 2023 is 10.79% as against a benchmark of 10.17%

That benchmark is derived from the 5 year Sovereign Eurobonds at the end of June 2023.
60.27% of the current allocation of Eurobonds currently in our NDF are sovereign Eurobonds
37.78% of it is in Corporate Eurobonds.
With the way Dollar Mutual funds are governed, you must have a certain percentage of your portfolio in both Sovereign and Corporate Eurobonds.
Our job as a fund and portfolio manager is to evaluate which Eurobonds have minimal risk to default and invest as such.

It's not a ponzi. Norrenberger is SEC regulated fund manager. They are the new owner of International energy insurance as per holdings.
Come onboard and you will be happy.

List the stockbroking firms that play NASD.
Investment One
CSL
Morgan Capital
and many others.
Go to NASD website and check members/partners you have the comprehensive list there.

Question for NASD Active players, is there a broker that has live trading platform option or fast execution looking for alternative to Investment one ( I am aware You are not liable for your suggestions... as well as if there's no offer there's nothing to buy) .Thanks for your suggestion.
The NASD platform is not liberalized like the main NGX. Investors can't trade directly on the NASD platform you have to send your order to your stockbroker to be executed when there is availability of the stock. The NASD is not a very active platform so trade execution there is very slow compared to the main board. The majority of the deals in NASD are by cross deals or you just have to be patient. 95% or more of the investors in NASD are long-term players or owners, They hardly sell. I know someone that wish to buy ASL for up to two months now he's yet to get a seller.
It's even not all stockbroking firms that play NASD.

When do one participate in right issue.. And how do you know your broker will buy at that price..
E. G Fidelity just dropped disclosure yesterday On right issue(no price indicated)
First bank is on its way..
For an existing shareholder
So how does he/she key in at the right issue price.?.
Anyone knowledgeable please..
Don't worry. In the capital market right issue document is a public material everything about the right issue will be stated in black and white such as the price, and quantity of shares due to each investor and opportunity to buy more in most cases at a ratio also stated in the right document. The truth is that you actually don't need a stockbroker to take up your right. You can go to any of the receiving banks and submit your completed form. With the information you supplied on the form, your right will be credited to your cscs after the regulatory procedures.

Note: The form or sometimes the link will be sent to you by the registrars to the company, It can also be requested by the shareholder if not sent, you are required to download, complete, and then submit with any of the receiving agents your stockbroker inclusive. It's also important that you open a cscs account if you don't have otherwise there will be no place to domicile your shares because the era of paper certificates is passed.

Individual access expires. It has to be renewed yearly.

Not everyone goes through broker to get a copy of CSCS statement when one can have an individual access.
@BabsO2, It's the use of language. That means he meant to say his annual subscription expired not cscs account expired. Yes, cscs account annual subscription access expires but the cscs account itself doesn't.
