teejay5:Since there was no auction last week, then it should be tomorrow. If you wish to participate get to your bank today before 10am to apply. |
Kreos44:By regulatory rule, it will be released latest on 31st August 2023 because it's an audited half-year result that is expected. |
hias2012:When you invest in an equity-based fund during a bearish market you will understand better why I said investing in dividend-paying stock directly is preferred. True you will be told it's less risky and managed by professionals but the fact is that it's the state of the market that determines the returns on equity-based funds. Whether professionals or novices the market has a mind of its own. However, go with what you are more comfortable with. Your strategy or investment objectives matter when it comes to investing. |
Audacius:You are very correct, from experience, BVN name arrangement has prevented many investors from getting their dividends. Actually based on the kyc drive that started about two years ago by the regulators using the stockbrokers, having the correct name arrangement on BVN, and all things being equal, investors can get their dividend even without completing the e-mandate form. |
VeeInsider:You can contact me through the numbers on my signature or go to the stocks thread for answers to such questions to avoid derailing this thread because here the discussion is supposed to be restricted to mutual funds. Thank you. |
hias2012:Check my previous posts on fixed income fund particularly SFS fixed income fund which I'm involved in. Most of the investors here tend to lean towards low-risk investment hence MMF is always discussed. Other funds like balance funds, growth funds, and equity funds carry more risk compared to MMF and fixed income hence most investors that will invest in such funds must have gained some confidence otherwise they remain with low-risk MMF. It's true that rates are low yet it's still better than leaving your money in a savings account. Remember it's a case of low-risk low returns and vice versa. Another issue is the mode and duration of the returns on other funds, Some of them pay dividends once a year, and sometimes no dividends. The minimum holding periods of some of these funds apart from MMF are seen to be too long. Personally, I advise my clients to invest directly in dividend-paying stocks instead of equity funds since it's practically the same risk involved. |
jimmiedave:call/chat me up. See my signature for contact. |
jimmiedave:Since you have a cscs account, check the cscs statement, the name of the stockbroker will be there. You can find out if they are still active or dead or visit CSCS at the stock exchange building to ask for a printout of your cscs statement. Go along with a means of identification. If you are not in Lagos, send a mail to cscs asking for your statement, Please note this comes with a fee. For the dividends, you can download and complete the e-mandate form from Meristem, Pace, and Africa Prudential registrars respectively to claim the dividends from the companies you mentioned. Note: for the UBA dividend, you can complete the mandate form from Africa Prudential Reegistrars' website. Contact me with the numbers on my signature if you need more clarity. |
Tohmey:I don't know of any government-regulated investment that can give 20% right now. However, Just as I posted earlier, investment in the stock market can give you that or even more. |
adedayo77:Investment in Stocks could give you more returns if you have what it takes. Remember return of investment is more important and to be considered first before the return on investment. |
tenderjunkie:Everything is working fine with Stanbic MMF it's possible your network or device issue. |
adedayo77:It's true the inflation rate is high but your 5m loses more value when it's not invested in any instrument. There could be other investment vehicles that can give you higher interest but they also come with higher risk. |
Wotowotoman:Actually, that is what happens to everyone in one way or another all over the world. These bills must be paid. Hence experts say PAY YOURSELF FIRST. One must be intentional about it. Remember the amount will differ based on your income but everyone that plans to have some financial freedom some day must just have to put some amount aside even if it's little at a time. Check again this book - The Richest Man in Babylon. |

Streetinvestor2:What I posted is not what I was told or read in a book. It's what I know and do. |
Streetinvestor2:The time is much more dependent on the resident house. If you already have an account with investment one and the resident house ie the house you are moving from cooperate maximum is 10 working days. The cost implication or charges is on the side of the resident house. They will charge and it varies from house to house. The target house ie investment one will not charge anything. If you don't have account yet, Click the third link on my signature to open account with investment one. It's free. I'm also available you can get in touch. |

IYGEAL:No. Just that the volatility of the rate is less compare to mmf. The reason is because part of the underlying asset is FGN Bonds which bring about the major difference between mmf and fixed income fund. Don't mistake it with fixed deposit in commercial banks. Presently the industry is experiencing rate decline. The bullish run in the stock market could be a factor among others. However, with the decision of the MPC today, rate could reverse pisitively in the days ahead. |
REMEMBER! Folks (traders/long-term investors, gurus/newbies) as we see the bull all over, dead stocks rising again, fundamental and non-fundamentally sound stocks showing green, 52 weeks high in stock prices, brokers recommendations full of BUY BUY and BUY. Remember four obvious things: 1. The market can never be in one direction it's always in a circle of ups and downs 2. To control your emotions of greed and fear 3. your investment objectives. 4. 2008 |
enque:Don't panic! |
Tohmey:General market outlook in the mutual funds space. SFS rate is still a rate to beat in the fixed income space. |
adekzy:@adekzy I didn't actually dump investment one it was GTCO that cause wahala or rather dump me but they are seeing the effect of their action now, Well, that is by the way. Sincerely I always prefer MMF to GIF of Stanbic any day any time. If you must do bond-related mutual funds SFS is a better deal. For your type of strategy, ie just leaving your idle fund somewhere I will advise you to split and put some in mmf and the other in SFS. the reason is that you will always gain either way from bonds or commercial papers and Tbills. Click the second link on my signature to open SFS fixed-income fund account. As usual you are free to reach out to me with my displayed contacts. |
adedayo77:You can do update or uninstall and install again. I'm very sure the app is working fine from experience and feedbacks. |

NL1960:Wow! You are welcome on board. Congratulations. Yes, you will get the best and I believe you will not regret your decision. Main while always do your transfer very early in the morning preferably before 8.30am. The reason for this is to give room for interbank confirmation between your bank and the custodian (UBA) bank. However, the rule is that any transfer made before 12 noon will have same-day value and interest subject to time of comfirmation. Thanks once more for using my link. |
customstreet:True. Imagine MTN now still battling with SEC approval for the script dividend. |
