Olaide1295:I see some folks here especially newbies still confused so many things with respect to the different functions of the market operators and regulators. Please note the following: A stockbrokers primary function is to assist you to buy/sell shares any other service like helping customers to process unclaimed dividend is additional function that attracts fees. Now in the process of assisting to buy shares, they provide online platform or apps for customers convenience. They are never saddled with the responsibilities of handling matters of dividend. A trade app like trove is a different arrangement in which case, they are the shareholders as per registrars, so they collect and then Pay clients, this is not the conventional way so don't compare with the regular functions of a stockbroking firm. When an investor buys shares in a particular company, the investor is to deal directly with the company through the registrars for returns- dividends this has nothing to do with the stockbroker in anyway even the said details of shareholders are gotten from cscs directly not from brokers. The process and job of dividend payment is between the registrars and the company and they are to follow the framework established by the government through the SEC in doing that. The issue that normally arise is when some registrars refuse to follow the processes already established by the regulators hence investors still find it difficult to get their dividend seamlessly. Currently I think Africa Prudential and Coronation seems to be complying and details of shareholders are gotten from cscs such that investors are getting dividends paid without the stress of completing any forms. I will advice prospects to always go with regular stockbroking firms to open account and have their details sent to the registrars through cscs. Even these firms have both online or app trading platforms for investors to use and doing all their trading. |
vacanci:Yes. The details are to be gotten from cscs following your details during account opening with the broker. That is why it's that same account the proceeds of your sales will be paid into by cscs except you opt out of direct settlement of sales of proceeds. |
Mfunkynation:Getting dividend is not dependent on the bank you use. Some people use same Access and have gotten while some using other banks have also not gotten. Just wait you will get except if there is any irregularities in your details with the registrar which can easily be rectified. |
Hogwarthtrades:@Hogwarthtrades I don't know of any for now. |
MeezPat:That is exactly the aim and final solution the regulators have profer to this issue of dividend payment. Investors are not suppose to fill any form once they gave their complete details to their respective stockbrokers during account opening process. It's unfortunate that many of the registrars have not keyed into this laudable innovation for more than two years now. Well let's hope for the best that in no distant time other registrars will follow suit. |

Some things to note on Sukuk VI Subscription All categories of investors Individual(Retail) or corporate, HNI, or LNI are qualified to invest. Subscription can be done whether in Nigeria or in the diaspora You can subscribe through any capital market operator regulated by the SEC - fund managers or stockbrokers in particular. You don't need to transfer to the issuing house or receiving bank yourself your subscription money can be paid to the collection account of the operator you are subscribing with hence you will see different firms giving you their accounts to deposit into. The operators will in turn send your subscription monies to any of the receiving banks via the issuing houses Your returns don't go through any of the investment firms you subscribe with. It goes straight to the bank details you provided in the subscription form. Note: there is no subscription commission to be paid by investors that is meant for the issuer to pay You will need a cscs account especially if you don't intend to keep it to maturity. However, the subscription can still be done without cscs account. My advice is that you start the process of cscs account opening now. Account opening is free. |

Adinije:You need to submit through an agent. Here an agent is any SEC regulated capital market operator particularly fund managers and stockbrokers. Most of the operators will require you to complete the form, do a transfer of the amount you wish to invest into their collection account, scan and send everything back to them. It's advisable to have a a cscs account before you invest. Please note that no investor is required to pay any commission irrespective of the market operator you are subscribing with. The issuer ie the federal government through the DMO will be required to pay commission to all market operators who got involved in the process. |
sirrotex:Yes o. Half bread is better than chin chin. ![]() |
smasher1:Your signature specimen will get to the registrar from your stockbroker through CSCS Plc. You will need to contact your stockbroker to start the process. Kindly check through my earlier posts on how to go about this. |
sirrotex:Sukuk VI is here!

|
spiceeamiee:Account opening form sent. |
ojesymsym:It's a possibility if your details particularly updated kyc from the first stockbroker is not at the cscs and sometimes registrars are lazy and investors will have to do all the wahala even when the system in place was supposed to mitigate it. |
decargne:Yes, everything and if they do a thorough job even other companies they handle where you have holdings will be credited if they are all under same CHN. For Africa Prudential you can fill the mandate online. However, before completing the mandate be sure your signature specimen is with them. |
@Umargarr you don't need to fill another mandate. The Registrars who are in charge of dividends work with the CHN of investors when processing dividends and once they have it, irrespective of the stockbroker you used it will be processed. It's even the reason we encourage investors here to provide thier current CHN to a second or third stockbroker they wish to use in other to avoid any issues when it comes to dividend processing. |
leparj:Zenith Bank interim dividend and any other dividend For everyone who has not received Zenith bank interim dividend, just relax especially for those who have been receiving through their mandated bank account before now, except for the first timers which may mean that your signature specimen is not with the registrar and if they have not keyed into the automation of collecting investors details from cscs. In any case, you can raise the alarm after COB on Tuesday 3rd of October if no credit alert. Note that payment of dividends is not based on the bank you are using because there is NUBAN (Nigerian Uniform Bank Account Number) which is standardized for all the banks and uniform with the first 9 digits to indicate the particular bank and the specific account in that bank while the last digit is just to check the validity of the other 9 digits. So the most likely arrangement as per payment will either be by surname, registrar's assigned account number or the registrars just obey a simple regulator's rule of dividend payment. Remember all transfers in Nigeria also involve NIBSS (Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System) which may also have their rules of engagement. In all just calm down so far you are qualified for any dividend declared by a listed company, you will get it if it's not older than 12 years except if the law has changed based on what the federal government proposed some years back. |
sterlingD:Okay. Thank you. Customers can fund their wallet accounts instantly and directly when you fund using investment one app. |
Hogwarthtrades:@Hogwarthtrades I'm not too sure what you mean but as for the deposit for shares reflecting in your brokerage account, it is a matter of minutes if the transfer is done using your bank app or online banking transfer or instantly if done using the Investment One app. However, if the deposit is through your bank your customer number must be written as the description or narration and evidence sent to customer care. Most times delay of funds reflecting in brokerage accounts is when there are some irregularities in the process involved in the deposit e.g. third-party deposit, POS deposit, or non-indication of customer number as narration. On the other hand, if it's a reflection of proceeds is what you mean, proceeds of sales are deposited instantly as you sell and the proceeds can be used immediately for other purchases of your choice. However, this is possible if you opt out of the direct settlement option otherwise proceeds will be paid into your bank account directly by cscs following the regulator's T+3 rule. Please be in touch using the numbers on my signature if you need to have more clarification or share more sensitive information that may not be proper on a public forum like this. Thank you for your continuous patronage. |
dejiotus:There is no any form of restriction. It could be the limit from your bank on transfers using the bank app. The only restriction I know is for Tier 1 account which is actually for financial inclusion where 20k is the maximum single transfer and the account cannot hold more than 200k, outside this there is no restriction whatsoever. Kindly check with your bank. |
Attention: All Investment One customers and prospective customers Kindly check the attached. In addition, a third-person transfer is also not allowed. The transfer must be from any bank account that has your supplied BVN attached to it. Thank you for your continuous patronage.

Deadlytruth:@Deadlytruth I can relate. Honestly, some people instead of seeking knowledge just conclude on the wrong premise and this is really affecting their investment pattern. Thank God for people like you and other ogas here sharing their knowledge if not it will be worse. |
Deadlytruth:I know there are some illiquid stocks but most folks here complaining of a stock hard to get normally will place a bid at a price that is perhaps -10% of the previous day's closing price and think since the system accepts, then it will be a deal. It does not work that way if you place a price limit that is too low compared with what sellers are offering, you may never buy a stock no matter how liquid the stock in question could be. |
