question:It's a ritual. Many players actually have their method of maintaining a certain consistency. I believe Bjorn Borg never shaved for the time he remained at Wimbledon or maybe I'm confusing him with another player. Some players choose to wear a particular type of jewelry, for others it could be a particular music they listen to before they go out to play or during their practice. Marion Bartoli jumps a little on the baseline before she serves (well the last time I witnessed her match ). A few other players bounce the ball for a very long time before finally serving. Nadal's peculiar habit appears to be the positioning of water bottles, he even does this at minor tournaments. Everyone has their own way of preparing and that's just his way ![]() harmeenut:I know the feeling. I've tried resigning as a Federer fan once before but I could never quite manage that lol. I am a fan of the man himself, I respect him. However it is his methodology I am more drawn to. His style is becoming endangered, he is the last of his kind. He bridges old school with the modern and it's as if he is translating art through tennis, it's like a kinetic portrait I don't know quite how to describe it really, his fluent fluid movements are a joy to watch. Even Nadal confessed that when standing opposite Federer as his opponent he cannot but help to admire his art. He inspired me to play and for that I will forever remain a fan even through the sullen days ![]() |

Let's appreciate music from our neighboring countries plus it appears Nairaland plays host to a few other Africans and since music is a reflection of culture it will be nice to obtain a certain knowledge from our neighbours via the art of music ![]() |
I'm not necessarily convinced by some of the claims here but to use death as leverage is wrong and disrespectful. Casualties shouldn't be used as a means of scoring points. |
Well done Tsonga, well deserved ![]() |
As an avid Federer fan this is so painful for me to watch ![]() Oh well, at least Djokovic is through the semis ![]() |
^^ I sincerely hope it's not dragged onto a 5 setter game even though I am also a fan of Tsonga - I just want Federer to breeze into the finals ![]() off topic: Tsonga holds a small resemblance to former boxing champion Muhammed Ali |
It is ever intriguing to observe that the strongest lamentations and lambasting of Nigeria excrete from those 'nationals' who do not even reside in the country. It's as if some people are inwardly afraid that the success of Ghana will somehow inhibit the success of their own nation. Reasonable people will say 'well done' and use such success to motivate them to do better but some choose to dally in self pity and deprecation as if it is the maximum portrayal of 'humility' Well done Ghana. |

ZimAngel:But I thought you have solved that "mystery" already. Nigerian men are "marrying Zimbabwean women for papers" remember - https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-693456.0.html ![]() |
da student:and you happened to also waste your time posting ![]() tellwisdom:At infrequent times I have a habit of unintentionally sounding mumu-ish, no "aaffencel" taken. However I should have opted for the word silly or naive instead of "mumu" - that was sanctimonious of me ![]() J12:no probs and thanks for the in depth response |
