FastShipping: When we did the fence and gate, there was a space of about 8 feet left opened beside the gate to enable easy passing on temporary basis. I expected the little space to be sealed within two weeks after the completion of the fence and gate. The contractor is a nairalander too. I warned him about that little space because I paid for it to be completely closed but he ignored my warnings for months. To my surprise, the contractor never did anything to the space beside the gate. It was through that space the thieves gained entry into the property and pulled cables out of the wall. There were other things stolen too and not only cables. You didnt have them pay the price for their silliness? |

Lucky you. But i dont understand what you meant by "I was so angry because this could have been prevented if the gate and little space in the fence left opened for months."
You mean the gate was left opened for months?. How is that?. Arent you supposed to lock it or you are not currently in nija? |

lastpage: Wiring! Wiring!! Wiring!!!
Plumbing is bigger in size, heavy, difficult to move and cannot be easily sold
Wiring is smaller in size, more expensive per unit size/weight, you need a lot of it, can be easily moved and if you are stubborn like me and decide to even "put marks" on your cables, it can be stripped and you wont even recognise it if placed in front of you and the internal copper can be melted (and re-used) to completely disguise it!
Take the advice as given earlier: Buy your wire NOW and store it where it is safe (where you live now or with trusted people in occupied residence) Dont do any wiring until you have put-in Iron Doors on ALL External Exits! Having a "high" Fence and a Gate is a further deterrence, especially in secluded areas.
Finally, wiring would cost you more to replace, as the price keeps rising on a weekly basis, at a faster pace compared to Toilet fittings.
Lastpage! Thanks a bunch. Well said |

bugmenot:
I experienced cable theft firsthand. The thieves pulled out every single cable in the building - all kablemetal. Compound was fenced and gated and there were habited buildings on two sides, bush on one side and a road in front.
In addition to some of the advice here, the sooner you connect to electricity, the better. This way, you may even catch a (roasted) thief.
Lord have mercy. Despite fence and gate?. I just got my quote for wiring and workmanship. Cost the hell. Can't stand idiots to steal it. That must have cost you dearly man |

AngelicBeing: Your house is more than a Boys - quarter, it is a mansion close to the white house in the US. It is also possible you have a bunker in your villa for storing dollars, pounds, Euros, Bit-coins, Japanese yen, Saudi riyals, with a remote control to your bunker and it is impenetrable & well fortified with electronic gadgets from Japan and also an escalator that takes you from your living room to your bunker, the same thing applies to Egunmogaji Oooh my Lord. spyder880: Wires are the easiest things to steal in a site. It's easier to pilfer than cement or any other thing. The value in the market is high and almost every worker can pull it out of the pipes on the walls. Even other workers not electricians can steal wires.
Leave the wires for last. Just before painting and electrical light fittings. Thanks a million. Last part makes sense. How about plumbing, that shouldnt be easily robbed right? |

mufutau55: NO. Not just fence.... Roof, windows & burglary, front and all exit doors. My friend installed his wires today and by the time they got there the following morning to continue the work, nothing was left of the wires.. Imagine!
Hajji M. I am lost though. Correct me if am wrong. Wiring and piping are in the wall and cemented. How is that possible to steal?. Currently, mine is fenced and wood gated (temp) but no windows yet. I dont think windows and door are next. I just roofed 2 weeks ago. What do you think I should do now. Windows and doors or plumbing and electric wiring?. I thought plumbing and electric should come first so i have ordered for quotations. The reason is you said earlier in this post or elsewhere when i sought advice about which should i do first. You said plumbing first before windows to avoid breaking windows. So i have to worry about GBEWIRI now?. They can even break the windows to get what they want. Right now, my place is surrounded by bushes except for one side |

spyder880: Thank you, site must be well secured before wiring. A lot of stealing of wires and cables in most sites now. Cable is easily stolen and portable more than most other materials in any site. You mean after electric wiring and piping are installed, robbers can still steal them?. How about fence and temporary wood gate, is that enough security? |

Qc1: I spent about N1.2m when cement was about N2,100/bag. No sooner I finished the plastering the price went back to N1,450/bag. I almost wanted to sue Dangote for refund kia kia!
If I'm not mistaken, 3strikes paid the same. I hate this. It can be very annoying. It is like bidding or buying on Ebay. The moment you buy a product for $100, the same EXACT product is displayed for half price. |

Amelian: Exactly! He could be impotent!
And people are blaming the bride's family. No woman married at that age will ever joke with her marriage in 2weeks! Cmon?? And even to a younger man.. Except she is psychiatric patient.
That's just the fact.
The husband should spill the beans and tell us why she ran away Lol Even if that was the case, two weeks after marriage was way too short. Does that means she can't sacrifice or look out for her husband "impotency" i:e seek solution before making her final decision?. Running away 2 weeks after marriage is a RED FLAGThere MUST be ulterior motives somewhere |

CRASHCOURSE: Who can solve this?. Your Opinion? Your wife gave birth at hospital to a baby girl of 8 hours old. A "nurse" who supposedly in care of the patient (mother) illegally abducted 8 hours old baby and fled to another state. She changed the baby's name and raised her in that state. The baby is now a teenager and the ONLY one she knows as her mother is her "mother" (abductor). Authority however have been looking for her since the little baby was abducted. She was found months ago and was arrested. Now she's currently sitting in jail in the state where she raised the baby and waiting to be extradited to the state where she illegally abducted the baby. The baby, who is now 18 years old is emotionally attached to her abductor. She's yet to be united with her biological parents. Her parents will soon pick her up in few days while her abductor is facing her music. Her abductor waved to her from behind bars while she cries "momma, momma, momma" knowing fully well that may be the last time she is going to see her. The teenager claims she was properly brought up and educated. Obviously she is healthy. What Do YOu Think The Law Should Do In This Instance |
