1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is Mine.”
3 And Moses said to the people: “Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out of this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.
4 On this day you are going out, in the month Abib.
5 And it shall be, when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.
6 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the Lord.
7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days. And no leavened bread shall be seen among you, nor shall leaven be seen among you in all your quarters.

9 It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the Lord’s law may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand the Lord has brought you out of Egypt.
10 You shall therefore keep this [c]ordinance in its season from year to year.

*MESSAGE:*

In our text, Moses, in obedience to God, continued to provide guidance to the Israelites on their journey to the Promised Land. God told him to consecrate to Him all first born of both man and animals of the children of Israel, to belong to Him.

Moses then reminded his people about their last day in Egypt and how God delivered them, and asked them to observe the Feast of the Unleavened Bread for seven days. No leaven or leavened bread was to be seen in their houses during the seven-day period. The message of how God delivered them from slavery in Egypt with a strong Hand must be passed on to their descendants for them to trust and obey God. Moses also enjoined them to keep the ordinance of Unleavened Bread yearly in its season, as a Memorial to God for their deliverance from slavery in Egypt.

TOPIC: SPIRITUAL CIRCUMCISION
READ: EXODUS 12:42-51

42 Because the Lord kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the Lord for the generations to come.
43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “These are the regulations for the Passover meal:
“No foreigner may eat it.
44 Any slave you have bought may eat it after you have circumcised him,
45 but a temporary resident or a hired worker may not eat it.
46 “It must be eaten inside the house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones.
47 The whole community of Israel must celebrate it.
48 “A foreigner residing among you who wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover must have all the males in his household circumcised; then he may take part like one born in the land. No uncircumcised male may eat it.
49 The same law applies both to the native-born and to the foreigner residing among you.”
50 All the Israelites did just what the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron.
51 And on that very day the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions.

THE MESSAGE:

God instructed that the Passover night be celebrated as a solemn observance to the Lord by the children of Israel in all their generations. No uncircumcised stranger was to partake of it except circumcised personal servants of the Israelites. In other words, any stranger who must partake of the Lord's ordinance must first subscribe to circumcision. He must become initiated as part of God's people through the covenant of circumcision. Circumcision identifies a person as an offspring of Abraham, and a partaker of the Covenant blessings of God. Similarly baptism in the New Testament identifies Christians to partake in the privileges of their new status in Christ as adopted children of God. Gentiles who were once darkness and sinful have become light and righteous in Christ Jesus.

The Lord is still saying clearly that only those who are redeemed and members of the household of God can participate in the new covenant Passover. Anyone who is defiled and living in sin cannot be a partaker of God's covenant promise or inheritance. There are no middle grounds in the kingdom, it's either one is on the side of light or with darkness. The scripture tells us that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 15:50). Have you been circumcised? Have you met the Man of Calvary? Are you prepared for the Passover Supper of the Lamb?

PRAYER: Pray for an encounter to become a child of God, pray to experience the new covenant circumcision. Have you backslidden, pray that the Lord will restore you today.

TOPIC: THE FAVOUR OF GOD

33 The Egyptians were urgent with the people to send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.”
34 So the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading bowls being bound up in their cloaks on their shoulders.
35 The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing.
36 And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.
37 And the people of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children.
38 A mixed multitude also went up with them, and very much livestock, both flocks and herds.
39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough that they had brought out of Egypt, for it was not leavened, because they were thrust out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared any provisions for themselves.
40 The time that the people of Israel lived in Egypt was 430 years.
41 At the end of 430 years, on that very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.

THE MESSAGE:

The people and authorities of Egypt demanded the immediate departure of the children of Israel. As directed by Moses, before leaving Egypt, the children of Israel asked and received precious articles of silver, gold and expensive clothing from their taskmasters. What could have led to this sudden turn of events, if not the favour of God? In verse 36, the bible says that the Lord gave them favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Favour is the catalyst that delivers blessings. It is the positive disposition of one towards another, often unmerited by the recipient. It provokes mercy and benevolence, and delivers grace. It is easy for a friend to favour a friend but very instructive when an enemy decides to favour an adversary.

Favour does not arbitrarily locate a man unless the Lord provokes it. It is the Lord that quickens the heart of people to show favour. The Israelites received favour from their oppressors. Favour is far greater than labour; a moment of favour outweighs a lifetime of struggle. Remember that Jesus first found favour with God, and then with men (Luke 2:52). Beloved in Christ, one of the things you need to succeed in life is God's favour. Pray that you will break into favour with God, and every other thing will fall in place (Proverbs 16.7).

PRAYER: Pray that the favour of the Lord will rest on you today.

23 For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.
26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as ye have said.
32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.

THE MESSAGE:

The Passover was a significant event to the Israelites. It was a lasting ordinance that marked their deliverance and exodus from the land of bondage. That night, God dealt a mighty blow to the land of Egypt so much so that King Pharaoh, in great distress, had to urge the Israelites to leave Egypt in haste. According to the word of God, every Egyptian family lost their firstborn sons, including animals. However, there was no casualty in the camp of Israel because they obeyed God's word and were protected.

There may be times in our lives that the enemy would not want to let us go easily. Ordinarily, Satan will always want to keep one in bondage.
However, the experience of the people of God in our text today demonstrates that there will always be that moment of freedom. God is still interested in setting His people free. However, obedience to the word of God is vital (verse 28). In this season, may the Lord rescue you from the grip of the enemy! Remember that if the Son of man sets you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:32).

PRAYER: I am breaking loose of every entanglement of Satan. I have been set free by the blood of Jesus. Amen.

TOPIC: LIVING AN UNLEAVENED LIFE
READ: EXODUS 12:14-22

14 “This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord—a lasting ordinance. 15 For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel. 16 On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat; that is all you may do.
17 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.
18 In the first month you are to eat bread made without yeast, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day.
19 For seven days no yeast is to be found in your houses. And anyone, whether foreigner or native-born, who eats anything with yeast in it must be cut off from the community of Israel.
20 Eat nothing made with yeast. Wherever you live, you must eat unleavened bread.”

THE MESSAGE:

God ordained the Passover as a sacred solemn festivity of Unleavened Bread for His people. Unleavened bread is prepared without any rising agent (e. g. yeast); while leavened bread is puffier and less dense. God gave specific instructions for the people - they would have a holy assembly on the first and seventh day;they would observe this festival when they settled in their land as an everlasting ordinance and a memorial to commemorate their release from slavery in Egypt. Only unleavened bread should be taken for those seven days of the Festival. Moses finally instructed the elders to kill the Passover Lamb and mark their door posts and lintel with the blood, so that the destroyer would not enter the marked houses at the sight of the blood.

Spiritually, a leavened life connotes one that is artificial, decked with many beautiful ornaments externally but lacking in spiritual substance (Galatians 5:38; 2 Timothy 3:5). A leavened life is less dense internally but superficially puffed. In the book, The Purpose Driven Life, Pastor Rick Warren exhorts us to go for significance, instead of prominence. He stated that believers are called to be spiritually significant and not necessarily prominent. The Lord will not accept a leavened sacrifice. The call is to present our lives as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12:2). Are you a faithful child of God? Is your life leavened or unleavened?

PRAYER: Lord, purge me of every 'leaven.' Make me and mold me in Jesus' name, Amen.

TOPIC: THE PASSOVER BLOOD OF THE LAMB
READ: EXODUS 12:1-13

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt,
2 “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.
3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb[a] for his family, one for each household.
4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat.
5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats.
6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.
7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.
8 That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.
9 Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire—with the head, legs and internal organs.
10 Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it.
11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover.
12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.
13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt

THE MESSAGE:

The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron as He was set to deliver the children of Israel with His outstretched mighty hand from the bondage of Pharaoh, King of Egypt. He gave them specific instructions on how the Passover feast should be celebrated, and promised to pass over the house of every Israelite upon whose doorpost and lintel were sprinkled with the Lamb's blood. In verse 13 specifically, the scripture reads thus"... for when I see the blood, I will pass over you.”

Beloved, it is instructive and humbling to acknowledge that none of us is worthy except through the paschal blood of atonement. Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice as our Passover Lamb for our redemption, healing, deliverance, and peace with God. It is the blood of Jesus that speaks for us, not our self-righteousness, moral piety, philanthropy, charity, etc. It is His blood alone that excludes us from destruction and guarantees our safety. Little wonder the song writer says: "... nothing but the blood of Jesus". It is the blood that protects, preserves, delivers and secures. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs therein and is safe (Proverbs 18:10). Is the blood your plea? Is the blood speaking for you? Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power, are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

PRAYER: I plead the Blood of the Lamb. Lord, may Your blood speak for me today and always, in Jesus' name, Amen.

THE MESSAGE:

After His resurrection, Jesus walked alongside two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Though they were distressed, He took time to explain the Scriptures, showing them how the events they witnessed fulfilled God's promises. He rebuked them for being "slow of heart to believe" all the prophets had spoken. Beginning wvith Moses and all the Prophets, He revealed the Scriptures about Himself and how they point to His suffering and resurrection as a necessary and important part of salvation. As He was speaking, their hearts burned within them, and they saw the truth.

In the same way, we sometimes face doubts and confusion when we do not fully understand God's ways. Yet, God is willing to open our understanding if we diligently seek Him. Just as Jesus opened the Scriptures to His disciples, He can also bring light and understanding to your heart. Trust that He has a purpose for every situation, and He will strengthen your faith as you seek Him. Read and meditate on God's word daily and it will guide you when you feel confused about anything.

PRAYER: Lord, open my heart daily to understand Your Word in Jesus' Name. Amen.

13 Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem.
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.
16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.
17 And He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?”
18 Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, “Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?”
19 And He said to them, “What things?”
So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,
20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him.
21 But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.
22 Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.
23 When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.
24 And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.”

*MESSAGE:*

Two disciples - Cleopas and an unnamed companion - left Jerusalem for Emmaus, discussing Jesus' crucifixion and death (Luke 24:13-14). Jesus appeared to them as they walked but they did not recognise Him (Luke 24:15-16). Jesus asked about their conversation, and they shared their disappointment and confusion regarding Jesus' death (Luke 24:17-24). It seemed these disciples had given up hope just after three days of Jesus' death and did not believe the testimonies of the women and other disciples about the risen Christ. The good thing was that Jesus was on this timely rescue mission and began this process of their restoration.

Beloved, do not lose hope in Jesus, no matter how bleak and gloomy your situation may seem. Moving around and trying to be busy with work or pleasure will not fill the void of grief, like these disciples. Jesus is always present and wants you to share the pain and grief with him. Meditate on the lines of this hymn, _“There is not a friend like the lowly Jesus, no not one...”_

TOPIC: WILLINGNESS TO KNOW THE TRUTH

10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.
11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.
12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

THE MESSAGE:

The women who had encountered the empty tomb and the angelic message of Jesus' resurrection returned to the disciples with an astonishing news. Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and others, shared what they saw and heard (verse 10). Yet, their words were met with skepticism. The disciples considered it an "idle tale” (verse 11). However, Peter ran to the tomb to verify the women's report and at the tomb, he found only the linen cloths, confirming the incredible truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ (verse 12).

The women's courage in proclaiming what they witnessed, despite being dismissed, is a testament to their faith and devotion. It also illustrates a common response to extraordinary claims, even those closest to Jesus struggled to believe at first. However, Peter's willingness to investigate reflects a heart seeking truth, illustrating that faith often begins with a desire to understand and explore. As we meditate on this passage, consider how you respond to the truths of your faith. Are there areas where doubt creeps in? Like Peter, let curiosity lead you to explore your beliefs deeper. Be encouraged to share your faith boldly, knowing that God can use even skepticism to draw others closer to Him.

PRAYER Lord, please help me to remain open to Your truth, even when it challenges my understanding. May we seek truth and boldly share our testimonies everywhere. Amen.

24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.
5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?
6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”
8 Then they remembered his words.
9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.

THE MESSAGE:

Early on the first day of the week, the women who followed Jesus came to the tomb with spices to anoint His body. They were surprised to find the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. Two angels appeared, saying, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" “He is not here; He has risen!" and reminded them of Jesus' words about His resurrection. This pivotal moment transformed their sorrow into joy, as they realised that death has been defeated and hope restored. Then they became heralds of the good news of the resurrection.

The resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith. Jesus triumphed over sin and death, demonstrating God's power to redeem every situation. The angels'message serves as a powerful reminder that God's promises are fulfilled, even when circumstances seem bleak. 35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”
36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar
37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.”
38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews.
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence?
41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

THE MESSAGE:

Today's passage describes the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and highlights His final moments on the cross. As Jesus hung on the cross, He prayed for those who crucified Him, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34). This demonstration of forgiveness and compassion amazed a Roman centurion, who later declared Jesus a righteous man (Luke 23:47). Meanwhile, one of the criminals crucified alongside Jesus, recognized His righteousness and divinity and appealed, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom" (Luke 23:42). Jesus responded with gracious assurance, "Today, you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43). Even in His darkest hour, Jesus offered salvation and hope to those around Him.

Beloved in Christ, Jesus' prayer for His persecutors demonstrates the importance of forgiving others in the face of injustice. It might be difficult but God calls us to a life of forgiveness, even to the undeserving. Jesus' promise to the criminal illustrates God's willingness to save and forgive, regardless of past mistakes. Whatever evil or crime one has done is no barrier for acceptance into the kingdom of God. Jesus offers direct access to salvation to persons worthy of the most extreme punishment for their sins. It is never too late for anyone who is willing to repent and receive Jesus today. There is hope even in the darkest hour.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for demonstrating forgiveness, compassion, and redemption on the cross. May Your example inspire me to live with forgiveness, faith and hope in our darkest hour! Amen.

It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.
3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;
4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.
5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.”

THE MESSAGE:

Christians observe today as Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday, which is the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the washing of feet and the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the disciples, as described in the canonical Gospels. In our passage today, Jesus, being fully aware that His hour had come and that He was to depart from this world, got up, girded Himself with a towel and proceeded to do what only household servants were expected to do. He assumed the highly unpleasant task of washing everyone's feet. When Peter protested, Jesus explained that unless He washed him, he would have no part with Him.

The heart of true service is in putting others before ourselves. Jesus showed that greatness in His kingdom is measured by our willingness to serve others and care for their needs. We are to embrace the example of Jesus, recognising that every act of service, no matter how small, is significant in the eyes of God. As we serve others, we reflect His love and deepen our relationship with Him. We are to do this, not only for those who treat us well, but even for those who disappoint, hurt and betray us.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to follow Your example to serve others with humility and love. Amen.

*MESSAGE:*

Today's passage talks about Jesus' response to the chief priests' and elders' question about His authority to do all that He was doing (v.2). In the parable, a landowner entrusted his vineyard into the hands of tenant workers. When the landowner sent his servants to collect his share of the fruits, the tenants beat them, drove some away, and killed some. Finally, the owner sent his only beloved son, thinking they would respect him. But the tenants rejected and killed him too, hoping to seize the inheritance. In this parable, the landowner represents God, the vineyard is His Kingdom, the tenants are religious leaders, the servants are God's prophets while the beloved son is Jesus Christ.

Brethren, our lives, gifts, and resources are meant to bear fruit for God's kingdom. Like the tenants, we can fall into the trap of thinking that we own what we have been given, forgetting that we are accountable to the true Owner. When we reject His calls to repentance and stewardship, we risk losing the very blessings we have been given. Are you a faithful steward of what God has entrusted into your hands? Reflect on how you are responding to God's grace and whether you are producing fruit for Him. We must honour the Lord with our lives and respond to His grace by bearing fruit that glorifies Him.

Lord, help me to be a faithful steward of Your gifts and also bear fruit for Your kingdom. *Amen.*

4 John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin?”
5 They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’
6 But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”
7 So they answered, “We don’t know where it was from.”
8 Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”

THE MESSAGE:

The religious leaders of old consciously looked for reasons to condemn Jesus Christ and His ministry. In our text today, they came with the question of the source of the authority with which He worked. It was not as if Jesus was not sure of the right answer to the question, but He had perceived that they didn't mean well, and were only expecting an answer to justify their crooked intentions. He decided to manifest divine wisdom by throwing a hard question at them. John the Baptist, whose baptism exercise on Jesus Christ was a divine confirmation of His ministry (Matthew 3:16-17), was recognised by them and the people as having come from God, so, they couldn't play with the people just for their evil intentions against Jesus.

We live in a world that employs every possible means to discredit us. Sometimes, Christians are set up in order to destroy their God-given ministry. The divine wisdom manifested by Jesus in this instance is a great example to us. However, the manifestation of divine wisdom is very rare without the influence of the Holy Spirit. We are not only to desire to be filled by the Spirit of God, we are to walk in communion with Him daily. By this, we will escape all the traps of the evil one.

PRAYER: Father; fill me with Your Spirit and direct my heart on how to respond to every situation in Jesus' Name. Amen.

*MESSAGE:*

Jesus Christ went into the temple; a place dedicated to God for worship, and discovered that men had turned it into a market for their business. He was so displeased that He had to cast them out. He also declared that the house of God shall be a place of prayer. By this He meant that the purpose of the temple was for men and women of whatever status to come in and have a good communication with God, without interruption.

It is not strange to see distorted men turn the church into a business where they sell the gospel in our day. This has always been one of the tricks of the devil against the souls of men. Today, we see so-called men of God sell holy oil, holy water, handkerchiefs, etc., and unsuspecting church members are deceived into believing that with the purchase and use of those materials, their prayers are better heard by God. People are meant to pay certain amounts of money as 'seed' before prayers can be offered unto God on their behalf. This is a deviation! The temple is a place of prayer, and the turning of the same into a market, attracts God's displeasure.

O God, deliver me from the error of turning Your house into selfish use in Jesus' Name. *Amen.*

2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”[a]
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.

Jesus at the Temple
12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’[e] but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’[f]”
14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.

THE MESSAGE:

Palm Sunday is the celebration or remembrance of the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, for His preparation for death on the cross. The triumphal entry was prophesied by Zechariah (Zechariah 9:9) many years before Jesus came into the world. By the words of that prophecy, the service of a donkey was to be necessary in that triumphal entry. Jesus declared that the announcement of the Lord's need for the donkey would make the owner or anybody guarding it to release it for His use. It went exactly as He said it.

If the service of a donkey and the obedience of the owner played a part in the fulfilment of a prophecy given many years before, our obedience to God's command is also important in the fulfilment of some of His will for the world. Jesus has purchased salvation for men, but it is our responsibility to carry the Gospel message to the nations of the world as commanded by Him (Matthew 29:18). If we realise that God has need of us and contribute our God-given resources to activities that are aimed at drawing men to Him, many will be won for God. Will you be obedient to His command?

PRAYER: O God, may I be obedient to Your command in Jesus' Name. Amen.

THE MESSAGE:

Men always seek relevance and this is why they go into all manner of fights when they perceive they are not being recognised. Our text today is not what happened among the 'outsiders', but the Disciples of Christ. The two sons of Zebedee came with their mother to ask for a seat on the left and right hands of Jesus in the Kingdom. The other disciples of Jesus frowned at such a request because they may have also desired such privilege.

Jesus was clear when He told them that it was the right of the Father to determine who sits where. He also used the opportunity to teach the Disciples the difference between leadership as perceived by the world, and as truly designed by God. We need to realise that it is God who promotes and this realisation should make us shun the fight for positions among ourselves. Those who have been elected by grace to lead others, should
know that God expects them to serve His purpose in their lives, not “exercising dominion", to the humiliation of others. Jesus also gave an example of Himself, stressing that He came to serve and not to be served. What type of leader are you?

PRAYER: O God, change my heart and make it ever new so that I may be like You in Jesus' Name. Amen.

*MESSAGE:*

The parable in our text today focuses on God and His ways, which are different from the ways of men. In the parable, the first set of hired labourers were to be paid a penny a day. The other sets that came in at the third, sixth, ninth and eleventh hours were to be given 'whatsoever is right.' However, at the payment time, everyone received the same wage, to the anger of those employed in the morning. The vineyard owner was quick to remind them that he agreed for a penny with them, and they were not in the position to instruct him of how to distribute his money.

It is God that calls men into His vineyard. The grace with which to work is also His own. It is not the duty of any man to query how He chooses to distribute His ability and reward to men. All we need to do is to be faithful to the exact thing He called us to do for Him. God judges not by the length of time we have worked in His vineyard, but by how faithful we have been. His payment style is 'whatsoever is right.' He knows the right payment for every worker, and will deliver the same at the right time.

THE MESSAGE:

Never in the history of man had a woman been pregnant without sexual intercourse, until Angel GabrieI made a holy announcement to Mary. Mary expressed her shock in these words: "How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?" As difficult as it sounded, the Angel was very clear with the message from God. But as a direct answer to Mary, he said, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore, also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." As a way to address her doubts, the Angel also informed her that her cousin Elizabeth had conceived in her old age.

When people encounter situations that appear impossible sometimes, they go off the way of God to look for solution in the wrong places. The message from God to us today is that the power of the Most High is able to do all things. Although Mary found favour before God, yet it took the power of God to bring to pass what was spoken. All we need is to believe God like Mary, and say like her,"... be it unto me according to thy word....”

PRAYER: Father, gront me the grace to believe Your word in Jesus' Name. Amen.

7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. Then she came softly and uncovered his feet and lay down.
8 At midnight the man was startled and turned over, and behold, a woman lay at his feet!
9 He said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth, your servant. Spread your wings[a] over your servant, for you are a redeemer.”
10 And he said, “May you be blessed by the Lord, my daughter. You have made this last kindness greater than the first in that you have not gone after young men, whether poor or rich.
11 And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you ask, for all my fellow townsmen know that you are a worthy woman.
12 And now it is true that I am a redeemer. Yet there is a redeemer nearer than I.
13 Remain tonight, and in the morning, if he will redeem you, good; let him do it. But if he is not willing to redeem you, then, as the Lord lives, I will redeem you. Lie down until the morning.”
14 So she lay at his feet until the morning, but arose before one could recognize another. And he said, “Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.”
15 And he said, “Bring the garment you are wearing and hold it out.” So she held it, and he measured out six measures of barley and put it on her. Then she went into the city.
16 And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “How did you fare, my daughter?” Then she told her all that the man had done for her,
17 saying, “These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said to me, ‘You must not go back empty-handed to your mother-in-law.’”
18 She replied, “Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest but will settle the matter today.”

THE MESSAGE:

Our Bible text reveals a powerful story of trust, obedience, and divine providence for those who are considered faithful stewards. In our reading, we observe that Naomi advised Ruth to approach Boaz, the family's kinsman-redeemer, for marriage. It also reveals how Ruth courageously followed Naomi's guidance, and humbly presented herself at Boaz's feet. Her actions reflect deep humility, faith, and submission to God's plan. Again, we see Boaz, a man of integrity, responding with kindness and honour. He acknowledged Ruth's noble character and promised to act in her best interest while ensuring that the proper legal processes were followed. This moment emphasises God's providence in arranging events and relationships to fulfil His purposes.

Ruth's faith and obedience remind us to trust God even in uncertain times. She took a bold step, not knowing the outcome, but her trust in God and respect for Naomi's wisdom, led to blessings. Similarly, Boaz's integrity highlights the importance of being faithful stewards of our roles in God's plans. This passage encourages Christians to seek godly wisdom, act with humility, and trust God's timing, understanding that He works through ordinary acts of faithfulness to bring about extraordinary blessings. Let us walk in obedience, knowing God's plans are always for our good and His glory.

Now Naomi had a relative on her husband’s side, a man of standing from the clan of Elimelek, whose name was Boaz.
2 And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.”
Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.”
3 So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.
4 Just then Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters, “The Lord be with you!”
“The Lord bless you!” they answered.
5 Boaz asked the overseer of his harvesters, “Who does that young woman belong to?”
6 The overseer replied, “She is the Moabite who came back from Moab with Naomi.
7 She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the harvesters.’ She came into the field and has remained here from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter.”
8 So Boaz said to Ruth, “My daughter, listen to me. Don’t go and glean in another field and don’t go away from here. Stay here with the women who work for me.
9 Watch the field where the men are harvesting, and follow along after the women. I have told the men not to lay a hand on you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water jars the men have filled.”
10 At this, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?”
11 Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before.
12 May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
13 “May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord,” she said. “You have put me at ease by speaking kindly to your servant—though I do not have the standing of one of your servants.”
14 At mealtime Boaz said to her, “Come over here. Have some bread and dip it in the wine vinegar.”
When she sat down with the harvesters, he offered her some roasted grain. She ate all she wanted and had some left over.
15 As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men, “Let her gather among the sheaves and don’t reprimand her.
16 Even pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don’t rebuke her.”
17 So Ruth gleaned in the field until evening. Then she threshed the barley she had gathered, and it amounted to about an ephah.

THE MESSAGE:

Our text presents two persons of different backgrounds and class: Boaz, a high and wealthy man and Ruth, a lowly and poor widow. Though different, these 2 persons displayed lifestyles of great virtues. The first virtue is humility. Ruth cheerfully accepted her situation and lived within her circumstances. On his part, Boaz did not think of himself too highly to associate with the lowly in society. The second virtue was industry. Both of them engaged in honest employment.

Ruth, though unfamiliar with her new environment, stepped out for opportunities, loving pain more than the bread of idleness. Boaz was fully involved in business - supervising and encouraging his workers.
The third virtue was faith in God. Though she did not know which way to go or who to meet, Ruth trusted divine providence to raise her a helper, an act of faith that paid off for her. The fourth virtue was Boaz allowing GOD to make him a source of help - he willingly, without any negative motives, used his God-given wealth to bless the poor and needy.
From the above, we learn that looking out for the wellbeing of others, and adding humility to our industry, are rewarding godly virtues. We also learn that we do not need to be shy of honest employment because labour is not a reproach. Finally, we learn that we are blessed to be a blessing.

PRAYER: Lord, make me a person of faith, humility and industry so I can be an instrument of blessing to those around me and to my generation. Amen.

READ: RUTH 1:14-22

At this they wept aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her.
15 “Look,” said Naomi, “your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.”
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
19 So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, “Can this be Naomi?”
20 “Don’t call me Naomi,[a]” she told them. “Call me Mara,[b] because the Almighty[c] has made my life very bitter.
21 I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted[d] me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.”
22 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.

THE MESSAGE:

Initially, Orpah and Ruth had chosen to go with Naomi to her place. But Naomi discouraged them because age had caught up with her, so Orpah left. Ruth on the other hand, determined to stick to Naomi. Despite the negative experiences she witnessed around Naomi, she decided to set aside the bad memories of death and look forward to a better future in Naomi's return to Bethlehem-Judah.

What a rare faith! Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Naomi, through her woes, must have communicated God's covenant to her daughters-in-law. and probably this is where the faith of Ruth in God grew from. Ruth may have reasoned that the same God who had allowed such calamity to come upon their household because of impatience and faithlessness. could turn it around, hence her responses: " your God will be my God" (verse 16).".. may the Lord do this to me, and even more. if anything but death separates you and me" (verse 17). Ruth was determined: she would prefer to go on the journey of faith with God patiently, though the future looked uinclear. We must learn from her decision. God is a rewarder of all who diligently seek Him.

PRAYER: Lord, please keep me going until You bring me into Your promises. Help me make the right choices and wait on You. Amen!

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like.
48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

THE MESSAGE:

"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?... The one who hears my words and puts them into practice is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock." In our text, Jesus challenges us to examine the depth of our obedience to His words. Many people profess faith, calling Jesus “Lord,” but fail to live out His teachings. True discipleship is not just about words; it's about action - building our lives on the solid rock of His truth. Jesus describes two builders: One who digs deep, laying his foundation on rock, and another who builds without a foundation. Storms will come - trials, temptations, and challenges - but only the house on the rock will stand. The difference lies in obedience.

When we not only hear but do what Jesus says, our faith becomes rooted and unshakable at all seasons. Today, ask yourself: Are there areas where I hear God's word but fail to apply it? Am I building on shifting sand or on solid rock? Trusting God's instructions may require sacrifice and patience, but the result is a life that withstands every storm.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to not only hear Your word but to put it into practice. Teach me to build my life on the firm foundation of Your truth, so I may stand firm through every trial. Amen.
