🎯HOPE IN TIMES OF DISCOURAGEMENT

✝️TEXT: John 20: 19-25(NKJV)
20:19. Then, the same day at evening, being the first [day] of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace [be] with you."
20:20. When He had said this, He showed them [His] hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
20:21. So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
20:22. And when He had said this, He breathed on [them,] and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
20:23. "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the [sins] of any, they are retained."
20:24. Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
20:25. The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."

✝️ STUDY: The disciples out of fear shut the doors, secured and locked them against any unwelcome entry. However, this couldn't hinder Jesus, Who came and stood in their midst. After deserting Jesus on the day of His crucifixion, the disciples probably expected words of rebuke or blame. Instead, Jesus brought words of peace, reconciling peace. "Peace to you," is an assurance that there is no cause to fear, and that all is well: for they (Luke 24: 36) were alarmed by His manifestation (Trench). The same words Jesus speaks to us today in the midst of our fears, past, doubts, difficulties and challenges.<br /> Jesus breathed on them saying, "Receive the Holy Spirit." It was an act of re-creation, just as God breathed life into the first man. Jesus gave them the Holy Spirit, bringing new life and authority for their mission. In the same way, we've received the same Spirit that empowered and enabled Jesus' words and works as an empowerment for an effective application of the work of Christ. Unfortunately, Thomas was absent, thus missed the blessings of being 'present.' Being absent in Hi presence will make us doubt the testimony of many and reliable witnesses, and miss the blessings of being in His presence.

βœοΈπŸ™PRAYER: Lord, may I not miss your visitation at all times, especially when I am down. Amen.

*THE DAILY DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* MONDAY, 1ST APRIL, 2024 _*{Easter Monday}*_ *THEME:* A TURNAROUND

*TEXT:* JOHN 21: 1-14 (NKJV)

*1* After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself:
*2* Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.
*3* Simon Peter said to them, β€œI am going fishing.”
They said to him, β€œWe are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.
*4* But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
*5* Then Jesus said to them, β€œChildren, have you any food?”
They answered Him, β€œNo.”
*6* And He said to them, β€œCast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
*7* Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, β€œIt is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.
*8* But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish.
*9* Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.
*10* Jesus said to them, β€œBring some of the fish which you have just caught.”
*11* Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken.
*12* Jesus said to them, β€œCome and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, β€œWho are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord.
*13* Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.
*14* This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.

*MESSAGE:*

It is not obvious why Peter and six other disciples went back to fishing. But it is clear that they caught nothing after their painful toil that night. Naturally, they may have been disappointed, frustrated and dissatisfied with the sad outcome. Sometimes our ventures do not yield the desired results and it would appear all we have are empty nets, empty bank accounts and unfulfilled expectations after all our hard work. But at such times the Lord is near. He assured that he will never leave nor abandon us (Heb. 13: 5).

What a joy when the Lord intervenes and by his direction, things turn around. The result is usually bigger, just like in our text where Peter and company caught a large number of big fishes, with a waiting complimentary breakfast. It is important we keep faith in the face disappointment; we should listen, hear and follow the Lord's voice in such situations.

*PRAYER:*
Dear Lord, cause me to hear and obey Your voice for a turnaround, _*Amen.*_

*DATE:* SUNDAY, 31ST MARCH, 2024 _*{Easter Day}*_ *THEME:* ENCOUNTERING THE RISEN JESUS

*TEXT:* JOHN 20: 1-18 (NKJV)

20:1. Now on the first [day] of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw [that] the stone had been taken away from the tomb.
20:2. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."
20:3. Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb.
20:4. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.
20:5. And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying [there;] yet he did not go in.
20:6. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying [there,]
20:7. and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself.
20:8. Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.
20:9. For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.
20:10. Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.
20:11. But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down [and looked] into the tomb.
20:12. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
20:13. Then they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him."
20:14. Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing [there,] and did not know that it was Jesus.
20:15. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away."
20:16. Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him, "Rabboni!" (which is to say, Teacher).
20:17. Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and [to] My God and your God.' "
20:18. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] He had spoken these things to her.

*MESSAGE:*

Today, we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Prior to our text today, we saw the suffering, persecution, crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. He was buried in a special tomb closed with a big stone and under the watch of soldiers to prevent his resurrection (Matt. 27: 62-66). However, these human efforts could not hinder the plan of God, and Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. Mary Magdalene, a faithful disciple, came to the tomb early on the third day but met an empty tomb. She quickly called the attention of Peter and John to this. Thereafter, Peter and John came, saw the empty tomb, with the only content in it being the burial linen used to wrap the Lord's body. Shortly after, they left without any further inquiry but with the assumption that some persons may have taken his corpse away. It was the persistency and uncommon love of Mary that made her stay behind and she had her first encounter with the risen Lord.

Casual seekers will never see the Lord but will only see the empty tomb. It is those who diligently seek the Lord with all their heart that will experience his divine love and encounter. As we celebrate the Risen Lord, let us wait on him to reveal himself to us so that we may encounter the power that raised him from the dead. The resurrection of Jesus will only be meaningful if we encounter him and become saved.

*PRAYER:*
Dear Jesus, give me the grace to seek You a little longer so I can encounter You, _*Amen!*_

*DATE:* SATURDAY, 30TH MARCH, 2024 _*{Holy Saturday}*_ *THEME:* GIVE THE MASTER THE BEST HE DESERVES

*TEXT:* JOHN 19: 38-42 (NKJV)

19:38. After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave [him] permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus.
19:39. And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
19:40. Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.
19:41. Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
19:42. So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews' Preparation [Day,] for the tomb was nearby.

*MESSAGE:*

Joseph of Arimathea was a prosperous, prominent businessman and a member of the Sanhedrin. He went to request the body of Jesus and was joined by Nicodemus, a Pharisee, who had earlier had a secret encounter with Jesus in John 3. The actions of the two men showed their strong faith and love for Christ at the moment when the hierarchy of leadership was against him. They used their positions and influence in society to honour their master out of their care, delight, and gratuitous love to serve Him. They didn't do this because of what they would get because at this point. Jesus was already dead! Jesus was buried in a new tomb carved out of the stone of a hillside and with excessive spices which were features of the royal funerals of Israel and were appropriate for him (2 Chron. 16: 14). These men gave their Lord the best burial any man could imagine!

We should use our positions and influence to bring glory to the Lord and never be ashamed to identify with Christ and his Church in difficult times. We must give our Lord the best that He deserves! We have Christians in our parishes who seek no applause or recognition and yet love Jesus! It is not those who put up the greatest shows in the Church, who are always the closest friends of Christ.

*PRAYER:*
Dear Lord, help me to use all that I have for Your glory and honour; _*Amen*_

🎯TOPIC: MY KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD

✝️TEXT: John 18: 1-40(NKJV)
18:1. When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.
18:2. And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples.
18:3. Then Judas, having received a detachment [of troops,] and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
18:4. Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, "Whom are you seeking?"
18:5. They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am [He."] And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.
18:6. Now when He said to them, "I am [He,"] they drew back and fell to the ground.
18:7. Then He asked them again, "Whom are you seeking?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth."
18:8. Jesus answered, "I have told you that I am [He.] Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,"
18:9. that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, "Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none."
18:10. Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
18:11. So Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"
18:12. Then the detachment [of troops] and the captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him.
18:13. And they led Him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas who was high priest that year.
18:14. Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
18:15. And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so [did] another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.
18:16. But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in.
18:17. Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also [one] of this Man's disciples, are you?" He said, "I am not."
18:18. Now the servants and officers who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold, and they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them and warmed himself.
18:19. The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.
18:20. Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.
18:21. "Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said."
18:22. And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Do You answer the high priest like that?"
18:23. Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?"
18:24. Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.
18:25. Now Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also [one] of His disciples, are you?" He denied [it] and said, "I am not!"
18:26. One of the servants of the high priest, a relative [of him] whose ear Peter cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with Him?"
18:27. Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.
18:28. Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.
18:29. Pilate then went out to them and said, "What accusation do you bring against this Man?"
18:30. They answered and said to him, "If He were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you."
18:31. Then Pilate said to them, "You take Him and judge Him according to your law." Therefore the Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"32 that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what death He would die.
33 Then Pilate entered the [h]Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, β€œAre You the King of the Jews?”
34 Jesus answered him, β€œAre you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?”
35 Pilate answered, β€œAm I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?”
36 Jesus answered, β€œMy kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
37 Pilate therefore said to Him, β€œAre You a king then?”
Jesus answered, β€œYou say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
38 Pilate said to Him, β€œWhat is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, β€œI find no fault in Him at all.
39 β€œBut you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Do you therefore want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”
40 Then they all cried again, saying, β€œNot this Man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.

✝️ Good Friday is here for us to identify with the suffering, crucifixion, pains of the cross, and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. Judas Iscariot betrayed jesus into the hands of his fellow conspirators (the Chief Priest and Pharisees) and they arrested and led him to face judgment before Pontius Pilate. Jesus enemies brought him before Pilate accusing him of rebellion. They claimed that Jesus wanted to overthrow the Roman Empire and establish his own Kingdom. Jesus did not defend himself nor did he allow his disciples to stop his arrest despite having enough arsenals of disciples that could stop his arrest. He told Pilate that His Kingdom is not of this world and that the authority of his kingship is not derived from a man but is divine.

The main purpose of his coming to the world is to die so that all men will come to the knowledge of the Lord. He was ready to pay the price so that the kingdom would be established in the hearts of men and He was not ready to let anything distract him from getting this goal realized. The Kingdom of Jesus is that of truth where He reigns over the lives of people and He paid the price to establish this kingdom! What are we pursuing today? Building empires outside Jesus? Political power? The suffering and death of jesus will be in vain if we neglect the pursuit of the Kingdom of God and follow the multitude to pursue the kingdom of this world. We may have a temporary gain but the loss will be grievous. We must put priority on seeking the Kingdom of God (Matt. 6: 33)today!

*TEXT:* JOHN 13: 1-38 (NKJV)

13:1. Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
13:2. And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's [son,] to betray Him,
13:3. Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,
13:4. rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself.
13:5. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe [them] with the towel with which He was girded.
13:6. Then He came to Simon Peter. And [Peter] said to Him, "Lord, are You washing my feet?"
13:7. Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this."
13:8. Peter said to Him, "You shall never wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me."
13:9. Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also [my] hands and [my] head!"
13:10. Jesus said to him, "He who is bathed needs only to wash [his] feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you."
13:11. For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, "You are not all clean."
13:12. So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?
13:13. "You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for [so] I am.
13:14. "If I then, [your] Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
13:15. "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
13:16. "Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.
13:17. "If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
13:18. "I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.'
13:19. "Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am [He.]
13:20. "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."
13:21. When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me."
13:22. Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke.
13:23. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.
13:24. Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who it was of whom He spoke.
13:25. Then, leaning back on Jesus' breast, he said to Him, "Lord, who is it?"
13:26. Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped [it."] And having dipped the bread, He gave [it] to Judas Iscariot, [the son] of Simon.
13:27. Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him, "What you do, do quickly."
13:28. But no one at the table knew for what reason He said this to him.
13:29. For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him, "Buy [those things] we need for the feast," or that he should give something to the poor.
13:30. Having received the piece of bread, he then went out immediately. And it was night.
13:31. So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.
13:32. "If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately.
13:33. "Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I say to you.
13:34. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
13:35. "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
13:36. Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward."
13:37. Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake."
13:38. Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.

*MESSAGE:*

Today's passage narrates the conversation between Jesus and his disciples before his crucifixion. Jesus practically showed his disciples his love and acts of humility by washing their feet (vv. 4-17). However, He was troubled in the Spirit that despite the outpouring of love and hospitality to his disciple, one of them β€œhas lifted his heel against" him (v.18). Referring to Psalm 41: 9, Jesus showed his outright dismay that the prophecy of his betrayal could be fulfilled through one of his disciples taking cruel advantage of his affection and cordiality.

It is revealing that the devil put it in the heart of Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus (v.2). This showed us that the problem of Judas Iscariot was his heart. He showed outward commitment to Jesus but inwardly, he rejected Jesus as his Lord and allowed the devil to take hold of his heart. He hardened his heart despite several chances given him to repent. The heart is the central focus of the enemy, and once it is conquered, life is gone. This is the reason we are called to guard our hearts against the attack of the enemy. Who rules your heart? Are you working against Jesus' Will for you? While Judas was throwing away his loyalty to Jesus, Peter was reaffirming his loyalty (v.37). We must be ready to affirm our loyalty to Jesus daily and renew our commitment.

*PRAYER:*
Dear Lord, help me not to allow the enemy to lay hold of my heart to betray You. _*Amen.*_

🎯TOPIC: HE CAME TO SAVE

✝️TEXT: John 12: 44-50(NKJV)
12:44. Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.
12:45. "And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.
12:46. "I have come [as] a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
12:47. "And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
12:48. "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him -- the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
12:49. "For I have not spoken on My own [authority;] but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
12:50. "And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."

✝️STUDY: Yesterday we read about the Jews' refusal to believe in Jesus and in today's lesson, for the last time in his public ministry, Jesus declared that He is the light of the world, fulfilling the declaration of John about him in John 1:3-4. The world is full of darkness and the dark works of satan in different ramifications. Jesus is the light of the world; his absence in one's life keeps one in total darkness and enables the devil and demons to manipulate one.
Likewise, He declared his mission to save the whole world which is under satanic bondage. Jesus is the answer to every challenge that one could have such as the bondage of sin, sickness, or satanic oppression. Accept him today because in him, there is life in abundance. The entire world is confused and in great trouble because the Saviour has not been recognised; He has not been given his rightful position. Accept him today and you will be free! The power of darkness will no longer prevail over your life and sin will become a thing of the past. Above all, you will become a candidate of heaven with Christ in you!

βœοΈπŸ™PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and my Saviour today, Amen.

*TEXT:* JOHN 12: 37-43 (NKJV)

12:37. But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him,
12:38. that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?"
12:39. Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:
12:40. "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with [their] eyes, Lest they should understand with [their] hearts and turn, So that I should heal them."
12:41. These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.
12:42. Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess [Him,] lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
12:43. for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

*MESSAGE:*

Despite several miracles Jesus did in their midst, the Jews failed to acknowledge him as their Saviour but were still expecting another messiah. John had spoken about this in John 1:11-12, β€œHe came to his own but his own did not receive him." Unbelief is a deadly disease and God detests it; it's poisonous, kills and closes doors of opportunities. Unbelief shut the Israelites out of the Promised Land (Heb. 3: 15-19). It brought the wrath of God against the forefathers in the wilderness and many of them perished (Psa. 78: 22-23). Unbelief is a costly mistake that hinders the move of God in human life. It closes the door of grace against one."

Verses 42-45 explain that many of the chief rulers believed in Jesus but could not confess to him because they wanted to retain their positions in the synagogue. They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. Are you in this position? Are you also afraid of family, friends, job loss, etc? Do not allow material things or humans to hinder you from saying yes to Jesus, because your ultimate reward will be greater than your temporal loss.

*PRAYER:*
Oh Lord, give me the courage to believe and confess You before men, _*Amen.*_

✝️🎯TOPIC: PAY THE PRICE

βœοΈπŸ“–TEXT: John 12: 23-36(NKJV)

12:23. But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.
12:24. "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.
12:25. "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
12:26. "If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him [My] Father will honor.
12:27. " Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour.
12:28. "Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, [saying,] "I have both glorified [it] and will glorify [it] again."
12:29. Therefore the people who stood by and heard [it] said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him."
12:30. Jesus answered and said, "This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake.
12:31. "Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
12:32. "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all [peoples] to Myself."
12:33. This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
12:34. The people answered Him, "We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how [can] You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?"
12:35. Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.
12:36. "While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.

βœοΈπŸ“—STUDY: In today's lesson, Jesus declared that surely his time to be glorified had come. However, He knew it would not come on a platter of gold but rather through death and the shedding of his blood.

This was what He explained using a parable that unless a corn of wheat fell to the ground and died, it would not yield more fruits. He was therefore preparing to pay the price to fulfil the purpose of God for this world. He proved to the world that He never loved his life more than his Father's will. Earlier, He had taught that whoever loves his life will lose it and whoever hates it will gain it.

Gold will never show it brightness, beauty or attractiveness in its natural form unless it passed through a furnace of fire.

In the fire, it is purified and becomes attractive to men. For you to be fulfilled in life, you must pay a price and your life is the highest price to pay to gain eternal life. If you give yourself pleasure and every worldly satisfaction, you will certainly lose God's grace and eternity. Don't forget, Christ gave all, you must be ready to give your all to Him to live with him forever.

πŸ™ PRAYER: Lord, help me to pay the price whatever it will cost me to reign with you, Amen.
