19 Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.” 21 Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.
23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”

*MESSAGE:*

After the death of king Herod, Joseph was told in a dream to take the child and His mother back to Israel. As usual, Joseph obeyed and returned with his family. When he heard that the son of the late king Herod was reigning over Judea, he went to the region of Galilee and decided to live in a city called Nazareth, after receiving a warning in a dream.

The life of Joseph baffles me each time he is read. Joseph was beginning to settle down in Egypt after a period of discomfort which he suffered-leaving his home town unplanned-and the struggles of settling in a strange land. An angel of the Lord comes again, with the message of his immediate return to the land of Israel. Without any murmur and hesitation, Joseph "Arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel." Joseph's obedience to all God's commands proves that he was a man of good character and consecration to God. Children of God are expected to live a life of total dedication and consecration to God. Have you offered your life to God as a living sacrifice? Are you living for Him alone or for yourself?

126 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.
3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

THE MESSAGE:

The Psalmist recalls that it seemed like a dream that God brought the Israelites back from captivity. The people were happy and other nations testified of what God had done for His people. People who work hard in tears, will someday, reap the harvest in joy. People who sow seeds in tears will surely carry home the mature crops with rejoicing. The expression "We were like those who dream" connotes an unexpected and unprecedented deliverance. It was a deliverance that was almost too good to be true. Even the heathens were forced to recognise that God had done great things for Israel.

Prayer is an essential ingredient in every revival and deliverance we experience. Prayer is very essential also if we must enjoy the fullness of God's promises. It is to this end that they cried,"Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south" (verse 4). It was a cry for more than a retum from captivity but a cry for full restoration of lost glory. God is eager to send revival but He is also in need of men who would move His hands through passionate prayers. Do you need revival in your life, family, Church, village, society, or country? Pray for God to send it!

PRAYER: Father; I beseech You to turn again our captivity.

THE MESSAGE:

Our text tells us that those who trust in God are stable and are protected by Him eternally. The authority of evil men shall not rule over those who are in right standing with God. The Psalmist asks God to grant favour to the upright, but to disqualify those who live in sin.
Christians put their trust in the Lord. However, there are people who put their trust in idols, money, occultic powers, native doctors, etc. Are you one of them? The LORD assures us that we are preserved from the rod of the wicked. Although the wicked may seem to have the upper hand, yet this will not be for long. There is an end to whatever we are presently facing in the hands of the wicked, provided we continue to trust in God and not waiver.

The LORD is a defence to the righteous. The righteous will not be stretched beyond what they can handle. Surely there is an end to the oppression of the wicked. Are you beginning to consider the path of compromise because of the overwhelming oppression of the wicked? Don't! The LORD is simply working out in you what will abide forever. Trust Him, you will realise that all things work for your good.

PRAYER: Father; please help me to trust in You in the face of all adversity.

We thank God for all his faithfulness in leading us through 2025, now in the New year..We pray that his Mercies, provisions, and lovingkindness will not depart from us this 2026 Amen.

Circumcision is a token of the Abrahamic covenant that he would be the father of many nations and that through him all people would be blessed (Genesis 17:10&14). Every male child is to be circumcised when he is 8 days old and this brings him under a covenant of protection with God. In circumcising Jesus Mary and Joseph proved they were faithful to the covenant. Jesus is made a member of God chosen people, Israel, and an heir to the promises made to Abraham. For Jesus both His circumcision and naming happened the same day. Whereas circumcision is a sign of our being set apart onto God, our names defined the purpose for which God set us apart (Matthew 1:21). Have you been circumcised in the heart ? If not, call upon the Lord and He will give you a new heart by spiritual circumcision (Ezekiel 36:26).

PRAYER: Father; please help me to live in the reality of true circumcision and may I live out the name You have called me.

*MESSAGE:*

On this last day of the year, we should pause to thank God and recognise that He has a track record of blessing us, providing for us, and protecting us. David in this psalm, considers what would have happened in the face of great enemy opposition against Israel if the Lord had not been on their side. He acknowledges God as their helper. So, he expresses grateful confidence in God who has provided escape both for him and his people. David concludes that help comes from the Lord, the great Creator.

Beloved, let's look back at how the year 2025 began. If we are honest, we will reach the same conclusion with David that we would have been overwhelmed in the face of great enemy opposition if God had not been on our side. Let's express grateful confidence in God who has provided escape from all our foes. Never mind if there are still heart desires of yours God has not attended to. As the year ends, resolve to rejoice in the LORD, the God of your salvation, “Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls....” (Hab. 3:17-18). “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Phil. 4:4).

Dear Father; thank You for bringing me to the last day of the year: Take my hand now and lead me into a year I will yet overflow with thanksgiving, *Amen!*

TOPIC: FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH
READ: JOHN 1:14-18 (NKJV)

1:14. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
1:15. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.' "
1:16. And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
1:17. For the law was given through Moses, [but] grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
1:18. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared [Him.]

THE MESSAGE:

Did you take notice of the expression, "full of grace and truth"? (verse 14). It tells us that there are no contradictions in Christ's character such grace and ungrace, truth and untruth. In Christ, there is grace and only grace; truth and only truth! Whatever Jesus taught, that He also practiced, for He never made any moral statement that He did not demonstrate in His life. Yes, Jesus is a perfect unified person!

Beloved, we all have flawed characters. Still, some of us are more flawed than others, for we have grace laced with ungrace, and truth laced with untruth. Very imperfect human beings we are - unconsciously displaying our imperfections sometimes. Therefore, we all need help from Christ, the perfect One, who has commanded us to be perfect even as our Father in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). Good enough, grace and truth came through Christ to us (verse 17). Do you know we have received from Christ grace that teaches us to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions? (Titus 2:11,12). Do you also know that we have received grace that helps us to reign through righteousness? (Romans 5:21). Know it that we can grow to a stage in our spiritual development where there is far more grace than ungrace, and far more truth than untruth (cf. 1 Peter 3:18). Waste no time to tap from Christ's fullness of grace (verse 16), to receive power to exhibit such qualities of character that can be described as nearly perfect since only Christ is perfect.

PRAYER: Father, let the beauty of Jesus' character be seen also in me - now and evermore, Amen!
