THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 2026 TOPIC: A CRY FOR MERCY READ: PSALM 130:1-8 (NKJV) 1 Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; 2 Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. 3 If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? 4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. 5 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. 6 I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. 7 Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. 8 He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins. THE MESSAGE: In our text, the Psalmist cries to God to hear his voice and to listen carefully to his requests. He notes that God forgives sins and so he will wait and hope for the answer to his prayer. We can see here that the Psalmist was calling God out of a greatly toubled heart. He seemed to acknowledge that his predicaments could have arisen from a broken relationship with God and therefore sought for His forgiveness. He also earnestly longed to hear from Him. He then called on Israel to hope in the Lord for mercy and redemption. What sin and affliction do is to ultimately bring you into a depth of discouragement; where you begin to give up hope for your salvation or deliverance. We see from our text today that even in such depths, your cries for deliverance can be heard if only you will, with genuine repentance, cry to the LORD. Since we know that there is forgiveness with God, who is rich in mercy, will you cry to Him today to forgive all your sins and to have mercy on your soul? Can you come to the LORD with full assurance of faith, that He will hear your cry as you call upon Him? PRAYER: Father; please deliver me from every depth of despondency. |

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 2026 TOPIC: THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE LORD READ: PSALM 129:1-8 (NKJV) 1 “They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,” let Israel say; 2 “they have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me. 3 Plow men have plowed my back and made their furrows long. 4 But the Lord is righteous; he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.” 5 May all who hate Zion be turned back in shame. 6 May they be like grass on the roof, which withers before it can grow; 7 a reaper cannot fill his hands with it, nor one who gathers fill his arms. 8 May those who pass by not say to them, “The blessing of the Lord be on you; we bless you in the name of the Lord.” THE MESSAGE: "The Lord is righteous: He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked" is the way the Psalmist presents God's attributes of righteousness and justice. He complained that in spite of the acts that the enemies of Israel had afflicted her with for a long time, they did not prevail. The Psalmist appealed to the Lord to disgrace Zion's enemies and render them useless so that no one would pronounce a blessing upon them. It is worthy to note that God's righteousness is shown in the deliverance He granted His people who were afflicted and kept in slavery by their enemies. Moreover, God's righteousness is revealed each time wickedness is judged by Him (Isaiah 26:9). All over the world, we witness lack of love, intolerance, injustice, rape, oppression of the poor, maltreatment of the weak, and dispossession by the strong. However, for God's people, the wicked shall not prevail against them, no matter how hard they try! It doesn't matter how long the enemies' cord of oppression has been on your neck. God's word to you today is that "He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked." That yoke in your life is broken! Sing a song of praise to God today. PRAYER: Father; I praise Your righteous name, for breaking the cords of the wicked upon my life. |

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: SATURDAY, JANUARY 24, 2026 TOPIC: ONLY BELIEVE READ: JOHN 3:31-36 (NKJV) 31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God[a] gives the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. THE MESSAGE: John also testified that He who comes from Heaven is above all, speaks the words of God, has a limitless Spirit, and whoever does not believe in Him shall not see life but will face the wrath of God. John's concern was the fact that despite being from heaven, Jesus' message was not received (verses 31-32). However, the reason for this refusal to receive the message was because the people had sought to understand Him using their earthly minds. We must acknowledge that our earthly minds are too small to figure out the rationale behind the Gospel which brings salvation (1 Corinthians 2:14). Only a simple faith is required in our relationship with the Lord. This truth applies to all of the challenges that we are faced with! If only you believe that He that is from above is above all your troubles, you will experience for yourself, the true God. Determine to believe in Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and you will have everlasting life in this world and in the world to come. It is the only way to escape the wrath of God that awaits unbelievers. Which one will you choose: everlasting life or the wrath of God? If your choice is everlasting life, then believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. *THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* WEDNESDAY, 21ST JANUARY, 2026 *THEME:* WITNESSING THE TRUTH *TEXT:* JOHN 3: 9-15 _*(NKJV)*_ 9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. *MESSAGE:* Nicodemus expressed ignorance and unbelief to what Jesus had told him, "... how can these things be?" Jesus equally wondered that he was already a master in Israel and yet, did not know these things. By implication, he had been speaking and testifying to what he did not know. Jesus wondered how Nicodemus would believe heavenly things. He told him that the Son of Man would be lifted up, so that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life because God sent His Son to come and save the world. The response of Jesus to the ignorance and unbelief of Nicodemus is worthy of note by all ministers of the gospel. You cannot be a minister of the life you do not have. "Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what we do know, and testify what we have seen; and you do not receive our witness" (v. 11). Are you a witness or just a preacher? To what extent have you proven by life, the gospeI you preach? Although Nicodemus expressed unbelief in (vv. 10-11), yet the words of our Lord Jesus remained the truth he could not push away (John 19: 39). That's how powerful the words of a witness can be! *PRAYER:* Father; fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit and make me a witness of the truth. *Amen* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"I will shield your life and deliver you from the wicked."_ *Psalm 97: 10* |
