For option 2,
It is good if your on the skill shortage list, but I must let you know that getting sponsorship for tier 2 Visa depends more on your employer.

1) If you get interviewed by an employer that has sponsorship licence, they may take you on board. (Some of them will only take you if they can't find a UK/EU citizen for the same role, but for skills on shortage list they don't need to prove they can't find before employing you).
2) If you are able to have a very good academic result, you may also be able to get into any of the big multinational companies that offer graduate recruitment.
--Just know that it is very competitive.

Lecturers do not recommend student to companies. They can only give you academic references if you get a company that require one.

For option 4,
When you say marriage approval, from whom are you implying?

cabayes:
Pls explain more on option 2 and option 4.

What if my field is related to the skill shortage list when applying for tier 2 visa ??

Do lecturers reccomend students to company's for recuitment ??

As for option 4. Can you describe the kind of spouse that one would need to engage himself with to stand a chance of getting marriage approval??
TravelJust Before You Come To The UK For Studies! by EndtimeBlessing(op):
Congratulations on your Admission and UK student Visa. Please know that the next one year will probably be the fastest year you have ever spent on earth. Why? You may wish to ask:

1) For most of you, you will be working and studying for the first time in your adult life. This means you will always be pressed for time to read or study and do your assignments.
2) Also, like most students, you are likely to arrive in September or January. Unlike summer period, at both times especially January winter period, night falls quickly and lingers up to early morning. I was once forced to stupidly imagine that the UK time may be faster than Nigerias.
3) Lastly, most people need time to assimilate and comprehend a new environment. Even if you have travelled to a developed country before, you will still need time to understand the systems (Economic, Education, Transportation, etc), do your National Insurance, NHS registration and even get a better or cheaper accommodation.

All I have said so far are peripherals. Central to what is going to make time appear as if it is running too fast is the silently nudging question ’what do I do after my Degree Programme?' Those that are studying 3 years degree may not have this pressure immediately but I tell you, it will come sooner than expected.

For majority of foreign students on TIER 4 Visa, it is a question the system has already answered for them; finish your Bachelor or Masters Degree, back your luggage and leave the UK. For a few other students, what is prevalent are:
1) Get another Degree (Some students have had to use the opportunity of being in the UK already to further study for another academic degree that can enhance their career).
2) Get a job from a company that can sponsor you on TIER 2 Visa (It is very competitive and sometimes frustrating, but it is worth trying if you desire professional UK work experience).
3) Apply for a TIER 1 (Entrepreneur) visa if you have a business idea and you are able to win a UK entrepreneurial seed funding competition endorsed by UKTI or you are able to secure funding from a UK government department making funds available for the purpose of setting up or expanding a UK business. (This used to be a good option until April 2014 when the £50,000 funding source for TIER 4 students got limited to the 2 options I stated here).
4) Get a UK or EU citizen as a partner (This is only if you can find the love of your life whatever that means to you. Otherwise, I can only wish you best of luck).
5) Become an illegal UK immigrant (you honestly wouldn’t want to consider this? or will you?).

WebmastersRe: Why Are Nigerians Not Paying For Any Online Ideas by EndtimeBlessing: 11:43am On Jun 19, 2015
I remember the guy who started Iroko TV said all the money he makes from his venture is basically from abroad (Nigerians abroad and others).
This means it has to do more with the Nigerian business environment. Let me try:
1) Fraud - Do you know Nigerians (including those of us abroad) find it difficult to use our Bank cards on Nigerian websites?
2) Awareness - Internet awareness is just unfolding in Nigeria. Most people do very minimal things on the internet.
3) Independence - this is linked to number 2; people have existed for long without the internet. They don't feel they have need for any thing that they cannot get without the internet.

I believe with time it will get better. Please don't be discouraged.

Education12 Reasons Why More Nigerians Will Be Studying In The UK In 2015 by EndtimeBlessing(op): 11:21pm On Jun 18, 2015
Due to the discussions and interests that trailed my last post and the questions that I have been asked so far, I have decided to share part of the research I did for my company with Nairalanders.

Last week thread - https://www.nairaland.com/2378290/5-things-should-considered-before

Background
The UK Government scrapped the Post Study Work (PSW) Visa that allows graduates to work and gain up to 2 years experience in the UK in 2012 (1). This not withstanding, the number of Nigerians travelling to study in the UK continues to increase arithmetically. Already, of the countries with most students in the UK, Nigeria ranked third after China and India. This year alone, the British Council projected that the number of Nigerians studying in the UK will increase to over 30,000; up from 18,000 recorded in 2012 (2). This number is way higher than the number of Nigerians studying in other countries like USA, Canada, and Australia or elsewhere. Generally, there is a rise in the number of Nigerians studying abroad, in fact, after Moroccans, Nigerians study abroad more than citizens of any other African country.

Research Question
Nevertheless, the question is why does UK continue to rank far above other destinations of study for Nigerians? In this research, I looked into the factors (in no particular order) why a seemingly unfriendly immigration policy and a glaring availability of options have not been able to affect the surge in the number of Nigerians travelling to the UK for higher education.

Internal Factors
These factors provide the foreign higher institutions the right pond to fish.
1) Admission gap - In 2013/14 session, out of 1,670,833 people that sat for JAMB, only 520,000 students got admission despite over 1 million students performing considerably well. This means over 1 million students of University age are left to be roaming about.
2) Inadequate number of Universities and Universities’ combined enrolment capacities - Despite the fact that the number of Universities in Nigeria increased from 51 in 2005 to 128 in 2013, the combined capacity still fall short of demand.
3) Unemployment Rate - Nigeria’s youth unemployment is around 60% implying millions of idle hands looking for opportunities and open to options including furthering their education. Even, of the 40% that are employed, many are not gainfully employed and will readily embrace further education as a way of escaping their underpaying jobs.
4) Corruption - Years of unchecked corruption have created increased number of super class Nigerians who can afford to send their children to school abroad.
5) Increased number of people in the upper middle class - Nigeria’s unevenly distributed economic boom has ensured an increase in the number of people in the upper middle class in some cities. This class can now afford to send their children to school abroad.

External Factors
These factors contribute to making UK the leading destination for Nigerian students going abroad.
6) Speed of Admission and Visa procedure - Unlike other countries, UK schools have Nigeria residence liaisons and agents who facilitate Admission and Visa procedure. You can decide you want to come and study in the UK and be in the classroom studying 3 months after the decision. This is hardly the case for any other first world country.
7) Reliability and speed - seven years of continuous University education can deliver a Bachelor’s Degree, a Masters Degree and a PhD to a student in the UK.
cool Family and friendship ties - Although the known number of Nigerians in the UK is recorded to be in hundreds of thousands, the Nigerian community; which includes British Nigerians, Nigerians with EU passport, illegal resident Nigerians, etc are said to be well over a million. Any relationship Nigerians at home has with these Nigerians serves as a catalyst for family members and friends choosing UK as a place to study.
9) Narrow Cultural Distance - Nigeria being a Uk’s formal colony implies broken language barrier unlike any other non English speaking country. Nigeria’s religions of Christianity and Islam are also widely practiced even by Nigerians in the UK. Nigerian foods and restaurants are in abundance in the UK. The elementary system of education is also very similar.
10) Proximity - Of all primarily English speaking countries where Nigerians can arrive and integrate immediately upon arrival, UK has the best proximity (6 hours by flight).
11) Education Quality - The quality of UK education and or the perceived quality of UK education still continues to draw students in their thousands.
12) The English football league - The premiership league and other English football leagues are a great export to Nigeria. Prospective Nigerian students are already familiar with names and knowledge of most English cities with established football clubs; hence any school existing in any of such cities does not need introduction to the student.
The list of the factors seems in exhaustive but I will stop here.
Thank you.

I understand you, but every year I meet new people arriving from Nigeria to study despite the fact that PSW has been cancelled since 2011 and it took effect in 2012. The question I sometime ask is if people are not aware. I guess I will have to open another thread on the kind of of answers I get few times that I have bothered asking students why they still come to the UK to study.
lighternote:
Provided their is no PSW, going to study in the UK is arrant nonsense to me. So where do they expect me to get hands on experience of what I was taught in their systemhuh After collecting exorbitant international tuition. Selfish people angry

If you have a US option, my advice is for you to choose US because I believe US can give you better opportunity after your studies than UK.Talking of UK student Visa, you will need to pay around £3000 (1 million naira approx) as deposit. This is not the only thing, the bigger obstacle is that you will need to fix around £16,000 (over 5 million naira) in your account for 28 days before applying for the Visa.
Shevy01:
How much do you think a normal uk student visa will cost with tution fee & visa fee? I'm really demoralised I don't know maybe to choose Uk or Us. I have a cousin who does Us student visa for 700k. no advance tuition payment, once your admission letter drops you are good to go.

If you are interested in coming for a Masters Degree in the UK, I can help you out with information and processes at no cost.

Tuition fee range between £8,000 to as high as you can imagine depending on the school and the course. You will be required to pay part of this money before applying for Visa. However, you will be required to have the balance of the tuition fee and your 9 months living expenses in your bank account for 28 days before applying for the Visa.

Bsc from Nigeria is recognised by all the schools here.

Travel5 Things You Should Considered Before Coming To Study In The UK by EndtimeBlessing(op): 12:40am On Jun 14, 2015
1) In comparison to the US, Canada and Australia; UK is the easiest country to get University admission and procure Visa.

2) A Masters Degree in the UK is quicker or faster to get - it is 1 year while those of US, Canada and Australia are often over 1 year.

3) Make sure you have money for at least 1 year tuition fee. Although you will be allowed to do 20 hours of work per week, the money you will make from this will only take care of your expenses or part of it. If you rely on it to pay first year tuition, it may not work. You can get subsequent session’s tuition fee or part of it by working hard during the summer holidays when you are allowed to work full time.

4) You are expected to return back to your country after completing your studies, except you are offered a job by a UK employer. This is very difficult to get because there are laws tying the hands of the employers from employing non EU immigrants. If you must come, never resign your job in Nigeria if you have one.

5) Having an additional skill like hair barbing, hair weaving for girls, web design, web marketing, etc may put some extra money into your pocket if you know how to market yourself but this is not guaranteed.

In conclusion, conduct an extensive research on what to expect academically, financially and generally before taking the step. This will enable you to hit the ground running and know what to do after you finish your studies.
BusinessDo Nigerians Still Buy Anything From The UK? by EndtimeBlessing(op): 10:18pm On Jun 12, 2015
Every time I come to Nairaland, I see China importation business threads. Of course I understand why It has to be China. But my question is - do Nigerian businesses (traders, manufacturers or service providers) still buy anything from the UK like it was before? or Do individuals still come to the UK for shopping like before? What has been the effect of the unfavourable Naira-Pounds conversion rate?

Development usually commences with a right vision, favourable policies and the right environment.
Investors all over the world are looking for projects to invest in and get more money.
I have always maintained that Federal and State governments should spend more time on getting the vision, policies and environment right and you will see developments.

I commend the visionaries of this project, I commend the policy makers and operators, and I commend the Lagos people for ensuring that the environment is right. Lagos should expect more investments from all over the World.
By the way, a TV presenter in far away Australia once referred to Lagos, Nigeria as an ‘investor’s heaven’.

PoliticsIs The Fuel Situation In Nigeria Really Affecting Nigerians In UK? by EndtimeBlessing(op): 10:01pm On May 25, 2015
Last week, I went to Peckham to buy the usual Lebara/Lyca SIM card I use to call Nigeria. Normally, I buy this SIM card for £12/£13 and it contains 1,000 minutes to Nigeria. I was told that the 2 Network operators are no longer offering the service to Nigeria. I checked in another place and was told the same story. When I enquired, I was told that the Network operators in the UK complained that their Nigerian counterparts have increased their charges due to the Nigerian fuel situation.

Today, a friend who leaves outside London told me how she has to pay more for a tuber of yam because the African shop where she buys complained that there is fuel scarcity in Nigeria and hence they incurred high cost of transaction.

Did anybody experience anything of this sort?
If you did, do you think it is the fuel situation in Nigeria or these traders are just capitalising on what they know about what is happening in Nigeria?
BusinessRe: If U See Nigeria Becoming A Great Nation...join This Movement by EndtimeBlessing: 5:38pm On May 25, 2015
Mr. Gbenga,
What will this movement challenge?
What will it champion?
Note that it is difficult to take on the system as a whole, focussing on an aspect of what is not working may be better.

In my own opinion, what should come first is a youth movement that seeks youth economic empowerment.
If you pursue political ideaology and political empowerment with a movement poepled by people that are economically uncertain, it will take one money bag to scatter the whole movement because ideology cannot be sustained on an empty stomach.

In any case, I commend you tenacity and audacity.

I live here and I know the press here. They will go to any length and extent to unearth and reveal every thing that his family has ever done. If his father who must have migrated to the UK ever did anything remotely wrong (say kissed a woman 30 year ago behind his mother), they will reveal it and ridicule the entire family; if his sister ever defaulted on paying any tax at anytime, they will come after him with long knives.

Despite the fact that he has withdrawn, I bet a lot of money will still be deployed by the press to investigate everything about him and his family, just watch out!
