ASUU vs Buhari's Government; What Kind of Public University Do We Want?

The interesting piece from Mr Salihu Muhammad Lukman, the DG of the Progressive Governors’ Forum is an indication that ASUU is alone in the fight for the survival of the public universities. While he analyzed the damage the ASUU strike has done to university education in Nigeria, he refused to x-ray the damage that the improper funding of the universities has done to university education. He also failed to critically evaluate the little input we had in public universities for the last 30 years. He deliberately refused to acknowledge that it is the proceeds of the ASUU strikes that gave our public universities a semblance of what is called a university today. While finding it difficult to propose a strategy that will make the government fund education, he stated that any proposal around the introduction of tuition fees to the students, may trigger another round of protests and strikes, which may receive the active support of ASUU members. His short term solution was that both ASUU and FG should produce clearly outlined sources of mobilizing the funds to implement the provisions of the December 23, 2020 agreement. He also advised his party to prioritize education and health for long term solution.

The DG is advising his party to prioritize education after 5 years in power. Meanwhile, on a Special Retreat of the Federal Executive Council on the challenges facing the education sector in Nigeria in 2017, the Minister of education requested that a state of emergency be declared in the education sector. The President Buhari in his address said his administration is determined to revitalize and effect changes in the education sector which he described as crucial to all-round national development. This is the 2020 end. And the revitalization seems to have ended at the retreat. All we can see is audio revitalization after 3 years of the retreat.

The DG quoted these words from Kabiru Danladi Lawanti ; “People have been asking me a lot of questions on the meaning of the ‘Conditional suspension of the strike’ by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). It is a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea. Left to us, the strike should have continued until at least they release our withheld salaries. The level of thievery and misappropriation going on in this Buhari administration is better imagined. I never heard anywhere in our short history where a government can divert people's salaries, but that is what these people did.” It appears the DG was particularly not pleased with the word "thievery and Buhari administration" in the statement. But how well can you describe a government that even with the dwindling resources, has funds to sustain their luxury lifestyle and to run the most expensive Democracy in the world, but has no fund for education that it described as crucial to all-round national development? As Alhaji Lai Mohammed said in August 2013 on behalf of APC, if the Federal Government reduce its profligacy and cut waste, there will be enough money to pay teachers in public universities.

The APC government was aware that they were inheriting a troubled education sector. This was obvious from their support for ASUU during the 2013 ASUU strike. That was obvious from the El-Rufai’s 62 reasons why ASUU was on strike, the Adamu Adamu’s beautiful back page column supporting the strike, the Lai Muhammed’s series of release as APC Interim publicity secretary supporting the strike action, etc. You would have thought that the APC-led government had an idea on how to end the strikes in public universities. You would have thought that the same government had developed a blueprint to address every single reason that is making ASUU go on strike and to permanently end strikes in tertiary institutions. But they seem clueless and only interested in grabbing power in 2015 and the 2013 ASUU strike gave them a chance to blow their trumpet. The tone now is that the agreement reached with Jonathan’s government is not implementable. How amazing that the agreement they once supported is no more implementable. So, what were they supporting then? It is either they lack principle or Nigerian politicians generally lack principle.

You would have expected that as soon as the government took over in 2015 it will put up a committee from public universities, the government, and other stakeholders to review the NEEDS Assessment report of public universities and the 2009 and 2013 ASUU-FG agreements. And also be mandated to figure out ways to source funds for the implementation to permanently end the strikes and funding crisis in public universities. But it wasn't the APC-led government priority, instead, ASUU and the university systems were left alone. The union has no meaningful audience and discussion with the government from 2015 till the declaration of the ASUU-2017 strike. Sadly, the onlookers ended up blaming ASUU, not FG. An agreement was then reached, the strike suspended, and the agreement was not implemented. Consequently, led to the ASUU-2018 strike. An agreement was reached that was again not implemented and along with IPPIS enforcement on the universities, the ASUU-2020 strike came up. Of course, the Federal government won’t get the blame for not implementing the agreement but ASUU. The strike is now suspended on conditions. If the agreement is not implemented by January 31st, 2021, ASUU will be blamed and not FG. But come to think of it. What sort of government will allow a strike to last for 9 months? 9 unbelievable months. Of course, ASUU is blamed and not FG. What sort of people watch the government run an expensive democracy at the expense of education and other critical sectors and keep quiet?

It is over 5 years of Buhari’s government, the government is fully aware of the decay in the education sector- the main reason why the president and his government officials send their kids abroad for education. Yet, FG has no clear policy to reposition education and universities in particular. So, what sort of Universities do we want to have? A mere clearing houses or institutions that can compete with any other one in the world like we use to have till the 70s? Meanwhile, even with the funding crisis in the universities, the federal and state governments are still establishing more universities without funding plans. What do APC governments intend to achieve with the current establishment of more universities and other tertiary institutions? Why does ASUU need to go on strike for the universities to get attention from the government? The amazing part is that those in the government that used to be in academics are not talking. Were they overpowered as a minority in the government or just a display of hypocrisy? FG is sure our employer through the respective University Governing Council. You want your employee to be productive? You give him all that he needs to be comfortable to work perfectly well.

I got a postdoc job in Norway around May 2013 and in August 2013, I received an email that they are ready to receive me in Trondheim by 1st of Sept 2013. I eventually got there last week of September because I got d visa last week of August. I was shown my office with a brand new computer that was delivered just before my arrival. I was then taken to my lab located at SINTEF basement. And Lars said: Abdel, this is where you will be spending your 2 years and we laughed. In the lab was 2 High voltage sources, Omicron partial discharge detectors, photomultiplier tubes, CCD camera, amplifiers, oscilloscope, signal generators, pressure stuff, pressure test cell, etc. I met a complete lab that gladden my heart and mine was to use all that was in there to get results.

Then, I had an issue securing a visa for my wife to join me. I was destabilized. The department and international office quickly took it over and we got a visa for my wife within a few days. And Lars said: Now that you can bring your wife here to be with you, I hope we can now have the whole of you here to do our work. My wife joined me, they got the whole of me and we got the results that were above their expectation. NTNU Trondheim is one of the public universities in Norway. That is a working system that wants results. They provide for you your every needs and they are getting the results.

In Nigeria, very little is spent on research and teaching facilities in our universities. The undergraduate and postgraduate student laboratories are in a terrible state. Goodluck Jonathan’s PDP government put up the NEEDS Assessment committee that was chaired by Professor Mahmud Yakubu. They went around to assess the university infrastructures and they were pathetic scenes. The pictures were published. How can you train fully baked students for BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees with such facilities? Universities are supposed to be research hubs blessed with a group of solution developers. So, how do you develop solutions without facilities and funds? These were among the reasons that made the FG NEEDS Assessment committee recommended that as of 2012, 1.3 trillion naira is required to revitalize the public universities.

President Buhari’s government has put a lot of emphasis on diversification and universities are sources of foreign exchange for many countries. The UK government estimates an income of over £5 billion excluding tuition fees from international students every year. International students contributed $45 billion to the U.S. economy in 2018, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. International students were reported to contribute an average of RM7.2bn (£1.4bn) to Malaysia per year via tuition fees and other living expenses. Malaysian leaders not beclouded with greed were able to see that education is not just the key to national development but also a source of foreign exchange and they key into it. Education was allocated RM50.4 billion (over NGN4.6 trillion) in Malaysia’s 2021 budget proposal. The expectation in 2020 was to hit a target of 200,000 international students in Malaysia to generate RM15.6 billion. What is education to us? What are the expectations? How do we make our university programs attractive to international scholars without facilities? How do we make our universities attractive to the rest of the world without facilities? How do we get global recognition and ranking with our laboratories having 70s teaching facilities?

Chief Obafemi Awolowo was quoted to have said: "I do not want the children of my drivers to be drivers to my children, neither do I want the children of my cooks to be cooks to my children. Nevertheless I want free access to education for all”. It is time to define the kind of education that we want, public universities inclusive. If Buhari’s government is serious about public universities revitalization and sourcing for the fund to implement that, he need to take charge like Jonathan did in 2013 and stop looking at the issue from labour point of view and ministerial conciliatory meetings. It is not too late to put up a team of “serious minded” people from the stakeholders with specific terms of reference and timeline to figure out ways to raise the fund to reposition the universities and improve the conditions of service of the university workers. That I think is the only way we can bring an end to the perennial strike actions in public universities.

Nobody can ever satisfy human needs! And each father will give to his sons and daughters based on his capacity, we are saying that let ASUU justify little they get from government first and see how organization and government will be motivated to do more. ASUU is selfish, even other unions in the universities are not usually in agreement with them. They should allow government during accreditation see true picture of what they are lacking in laboratories and workshops so government can provide them instead of doing eye-service when NUC accreditation panel visit schools

They only like fronting 'they are fighting for quality education' while the main demand is about their benefits. Are you from Jupiter or another planet that you are not aware that some school get some modern equipment that many ASUU lecturers and technologists can not even operate? Off course, no government or parent will provide or meet all needs due to scarcity of funds, but little they have, let's see how best they can use them.

Believe me, many our so called ASUU lecturers can not even supervise undergraduate project well, many of them use idea, many Atimes, they speak out of points because they never had industrial experiences. Many of them were only lucky to get lecturing jobs after failing many industrial interviews to secure jobs in corporate organizations while some were retained to lecture because they obtained first class which is not suppose to be so, so many are lacking industrial skills.

Getting first class doesn't mean you can teach, several factors can contribute to while some get first class while others do not. Some have up to four scholarships while other brilliant guys had to work to support their full time education. Getting first class without industrial experiences and ability to teach even the dullests should never be allowed to teach in our institutions, they can be pushed into research, but not teaching.

Education at tertiary level should be restructured to become more functional for us to stop turning out unemployable and unskillful graduates on yearly basis. With this alone, crime will decrease because more students will be able to standalone after graduation and even become employer of labours. Imagine ASUU lecturers of computer science and other technological courses in Nigeria today.

You can't be teaching computer students only programming to solve quadratic equation, matrices, average of two numbers, factorial etc level-to-level in our contemporary societies and expect them to standalone after graduation, even those simple programs, many ASUU lecturers can not write them without checking books many times despite well equipped computer labs and resources at their disposals
Very valid point.
They should allow government during accreditation see true picture of what they are lacking in laboratories and workshops so government can provide them instead of doing eye-service when NUC accreditation panel visit schools

Not in all cases.
Believe me, many our so called ASUU lecturers can not even supervise undergraduate project well, many of them use idea, many Atimes, they speak out of points because they never had industrial experiences.

Your assumption about me is wrong, I expected you as engineer to be more intelligent and engage in intellectual conversation without resulted into insult but you disappointed me. Anyway, if I can use question to answer your question, how many of the modern equipment that government put in the lab can ASUU lecturers , technologists and professors handle or use well to teach students ?

Your ASUU lecturers only keep modern equipment in laboratories and workshops for accreditation purposes only, many of them can't use them to teach students because they lack industrial experiences. If some schools open their lab and workshops for you to see their equipment, you will be surprised why they are not using them to teach their students. You can't teach what you don't know. When ordinary school generator goes off, the so called ASUU lecturers/technologists with many titles will run away to call roadside repairers, but they will enter class to blow ordinary grammar on students and pass assignment.

Why should government keep wasting money over lecturers and professors that are not updating themselves on modern technologies and techniques of transferring knowledge, but only waiting to collect monthly salaries? What is the essence of professor that can not transfer useful knowledge he acquired over the years to younger generation before he died?

It is very hard in most schools and departments in Nigeria to see 4-competent, skillful and able-to-transfer skill lecturers in each of the Nigerian universities and departments today. They are the ones turning out unemployable and unskillful youths into our society today in large number due to their incompetence and this is indirectly causing increase in societal crime due to frustration from many unskillful graduates they are turning out.

Let them show government and organizations how they can manage little resources from government to turnout out skillful graduates into the society and innovative researches and see if government and organizations will not be happy to spend more. You can't lure organizations to waste it's hard earned resources on unproductive or directionless research that will not even benefit the organization. ASUU lecturers should sit up, change mode of recruitment and emphasize more on industrial experiences and ability to transfer knowledge, but less emphasis on journal publication and academic qualifications alone
Unfortunately, intelligence is not measured by your criteria, my 6 may be your 9, depending on where you stand. You and myself are at the opposite on this issue. It is all about what you and I know or do not know. I can see that you are outrightly misinformed. Which of the modern equipment is in the Laboratories of over 70 universities in Nigeria that your government put there. I am sure you are not a scientist....many of the technologies needed to develop innovations are not available in Universities and that is one of the issue raised by ASUU. Even the government did not deny this fact. The privileged ones among the lecturers at times send samples abroad for simple analysis that would have been done locally if our laboratories are well equipped.
For instance, most soil analytical methods and in Nigeria is outdated and this is due outdated and lack of analytical equipment. What do you expect the soil scientist to do in this regard? They should use thier blood?
Yes government should provide the basics and see if our researchers will not prove their selves. Meanwhile I agree with you about emphasis on industrial experience ability to transfer knowledge in addition to ability to formulate developmental and problem solving research as criteria for recruitment and promotion but the enabling environment must be created.

I beg my brother, spear me all these emotional logical-outburst, call a spade-a-spade. Being taught by them is not the problem, but remaining stagnant on the same spot is the problem and wanting similar calamity to befall unborn generation is a double barrel problem. Why is that it is only when they want to negotiate their salaries and other benefits that they usually remember to fight for quality education and students? Are they not the ones downgrading standard of education themselves in higher proportion than other stakeholders in academic industries?

When government send visitation panels to schools in the name of NUC to find out what is lacking in schools. Are they not the one frustrating government efforts during accreditation? Is it not the same ASUU members that usually lie to government that everything is ok with their departments and schools during accreditation by going out to nearby polytechnics or nearby universities to borrow equipment they want to use for accreditation to deceive goverment. After accreditation, they will return the equipment back to schools where they borrowed them without using them for their students' practicals.

Some schools will admit students more than equipment and resources they have and beyond what government stipulated to them, during accreditation, they will tell students with matric number 1 to 100 to come to school while 101 to 1000 to stay at home to deceive government; and later come back to blame the same government. Some of them will even sell workshop equipment and laboratory chemicals. Every strata of academic system needs to be restructured to become more functional instead of turning-out potential unemployable students every year, of which some of them after frustration due to joblessness turn out to become terrors to the societies

Methods of recruiting lecturers into universities and polytechnics should be reviewed. We should stop emphasizing only on academic qualifications and how many journals published potential job candidate has; we should include industrial work experience and ability to teach student or transfer knowledge even to the dullests in the class. Government should discourage employing fresh graduates with distinction into our academic system without industrial working experiences. Many of the lecturers never had industrial working experience and they want to train students to go to industries they themselves never worked for one day. How is it going to help our academic system?

Check Harvard, MIT lecturers, check their profiles. Many of them are currently working in the industries and they are still lecturing, some of them are inventors and have companies producing their inventions, yet they are still lecturers in those schools I mentioned above, but it is the opposite here in Nigeria. What is the advantage of professor who can not transfer useful and applicable knowledge to younger generation after two hours class lecture on daily basis? Is it not useless, but they are collecting salaries for nothing? And even reasonable researches, they can't carry out except sex for mark!
Your epistle is so long.........anyway a little question for you. How will a Professor make an innovation in your countries outdated and ill equipped laboratories and facilities. They should use thier saliva? You must have had a very bad experience in your days in higher institution or you to be so disgruntled with ASUU.

Is it not better? Let all ASUU professors and lecturers go, so government can recruit fresh and best brains. What is the result of current lecturers and professors we have? Nothing! They can't teach well, they can't conduct good researches even if you give them billions for researches.

They are only good at negotiating how to share national cake with their members by hiding under canopy of we are fighting for quality education and students! They will never tell you they are selfish and fighting for themselves. Please, tell the ASUU president to follow them down to Ethipia, we are tired of their riddance to rubbish

Education / Press Release By ASUU: Ngige And Idris Clogging The Wheel Of Progress by engrfcuksmtin(m): 7:23am On Nov 19, 2020
PRESS RELEASE ON 18th NOVEMBER 2020

ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES (ASUU), BAUCHI ZONE

ENDLESS DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN ASUU AND FGN: NGIGE AND IDRIS
TAKING NIGERIANS FOR GRANTED

Being Text of a Press Statement by the Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Bauchi Zone, on the ongoing industrial action by the Union, presented at the Gombe State University (GSU), Gombe, on Wednesday, 18th November, 2020.

Gentlemen of the press,

The Strike Action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in March this year is now in its ninth month with 95% of the Nigerian University Students in 45 Federal and 48 State Universities redundantly staying at home. Series of meetings, engagements and contacts between ASUU Leadership and Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Officials have not yielded the desired results that would enable the Students to go back to their classrooms, simply because the Minister of Labour and Employment (MoL&E), Dr. Chris Ngige, and the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Alhaji Ahmed Idris, have continued to throw spanners in the wheel of progress of such concerted efforts aimed at amicable resolution of the impasse. While the MoL&E has continued to exhibit all manners of antics and insisting that Government does not have money to responsibly educate its citizens, the AGF has continued to greedily and selfishly count on the gains of the N16,000 per enrolment of each Academic Staff he would have made, thereby insisting that ASUU members enroll on the only payment platform he has now, the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

As if that is not enough, these Government Officials have continued to take the Nigerian Public for granted by misinforming and misleading Students, Parents and the General Public. This is not fair!

At this point, let me remind you that there was a truce reached between ASUU and FGN that led to the suspension of an ASUU strike on the 7th February, 2019 called the 2019 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA) which collapsed and led to the current Strike. The responsibility for such a collapse rests squarely on Dr. Chris Nigige. The Minister simply went to sleep and failed to manage the MoA, and worst still, has not deemed it right to accept this failure and apologise to Nigerians for such mess.

The recent insult Ngige has meted on Nigerians over the ASUU strike was that Government does not have money to give ASUU N110b and that they would explore other options of ending the strike if ASUU remains adamant. Let me, first of all clarify that the N110b is NOT for ASUU; it is for the rehabilitation of the 93 Public Universities in Nigeria for now. What will the N20b flicked by Government through Ngige do to 93 Universities? Are they going to buy groundnuts? How would FGN provide N37b for the rehabilitation of the National Assembly last year and only N20b for 93 Universities this year? How can the Public believe that Government does not have money to fund the rehabilitation of 93 Universities but is raising N380b to prosecute Boko Haram in 2021?

The other side of the insult will not be taken lightly by ASUU, Bauchi Zone because for Ngige to be elephant-sure that the strike was going to be ended this week without any concrete offers indicated that there was a sinister move to crush the ASUU Struggle. The Zone is assuring Ngige that the Union is strategically, tactically and physically ever-ready for such a sinister move from anybody. It is our firm assertion that suspension of the Strike this week is not feasible because the Government Team led by Ngige is not displaying any commitment in this regard. The 2019 MoA has not been honoured and by implication, the 2017 MoA, the 2013 MoU and the 2009 Agreement have not been honoured, let alone implemented. The Strike is NOT all about Salary payment and payment platform as the Government has attempted to reduce it to. Recent promises made by Government are yet to be respected and actualised. Government has simply made some static offers and is not willing to shift grounds to favourably end the strike for over one month. The offers made by Government are even slippery!

It is pertinent to note that ASUU is very much aware of the damning pronouncements of the Anambra APC leaders on the MoL&E, Dr. Chris Ngige. We are also aware of the cried of his immediate Community in his state. It is not in the best interest of the Minister to continue to exhibit such excesses on processes that would enable students to return to their classrooms. We advise him to stop it.

To the AGF, we do not need to draw a diagram to demonstrate that we know he is assiduously working for his ambitious retirement benefit, becoming the next Governor of Kano State, in addition to financial gains already mentioned. This promise to you is certainly going to be similarly reneged if you do not assist this Government to honour and actualise the promises it had made to ASUU and the Nigerian University System. A word is enough for the wise.

Lastly, we would want Gentlemen of the Press to assist us in the conduct of two Investigations. The first is to uncover who bought the version of the Sokoto Hotel in Kano with a swooping sum of N500m, cash down, and demolished it the next day for an on-going development of a multi-billion Naira Shopping Mall. How and where did he or she get money for such investment? The second assignment is to assist uncover who is hiding to invest multi-billion Naira in the Gezawa Commodity Market and Exchange. How and where did he or she get money for such investment?

ASUU, Bauchi Zone calls on students, their parents, Civil Society Organisations and the general public to continue to understand and join pressure forces with ASUU in this struggle for the emancipation of the Nigerian Public University System by insisting that Government has the resources and should commit such resources to adequately fund Public University Education.
The Union calls on its members to continue to remain resolute and committed to this Struggle, for victory shall be on the side of Nigeria.

The Struggle Continues!
Thank you and may God bless all of us!

Nigeria public university lecturers are all out to fight IPPIS thereby using university funding to cover up.
You might have probably passe through a lecturer(s) that uses outdated note. Nowadays things have improved despite the poor research and development facilities in addition to poor welfare of lecturers.

Chairman, I think ASUU should drop that revitalization thing and focus on their salaries and other welfare!
How many TETfund projects has ASUU monitored and give report on or are you telling me that all TETfund projects in our Universities have been without corruption?
How many times has ASUU complained about payroll manipulation by the senior members of SSANU et al. or are you telling me that those things do not happen in our Universities?
ASUU can not monitor the implementation of the revitalization fund!
I totally agreed with view about the shift of focus to ASUU's welfare alone. About the corruption in these system, that is why I said ASUU have thier flaws too.

Yet they are still on the verge of collecting a loan to finance construction on a rail line to a neighbouring... the said bogus project has no tangible benefit to the country.
Because they can easily steal from the project. Unlike the revitalization fund which ASUU has put machineries in place to monitor the disbursement and implementation of projects.
ASUU have thier flaws but on the current agitation, I stand with them.

Education / An Analysis Of One Of ASUU's Selfish Demand by engrfcuksmtin(m): 12:36pm On Nov 08, 2020
A Brief Perspective On Profligacy: a case of comparative view

"We can't meet ASUU's Demand".....Ngige, Daily Trust, 5 November,2020.

This sounds as one of the usual blackmail or propaganda against ASUU, does it not?

Before you get confused, ask yourself which of the ASUU demands is the FG represented here by the Hon Minister referring to? He is referring to one of ASUU's demands for revitalization of Nigeria's Universities which is estimated to cost N110bn for now.

Again before you think this money will go to the pockets of ASUU members, the money is for upgrading of teaching and research facilities including buildings in all the federal Universities which total stands at 73 in number.

Now divide 110 by 73 = 1.507 meaning ASUU is asking the FG to inject the sum of N1.507bn for upgrading facilities in each of her Universities to bring it to standard. This is the money the Hon Minister is telling you the FG cannot meet as ASUU demand. Just think over it.

The Poser and the profligacy

How many of you reading this piece have been to the National Assembly Complex? I have never visited the place, but I am told it is a good building. The NASS building complex is relatively much younger and smaller in size than most of our individual Universities. Do you recall that the FG budgeted (or is it released) the sum of over N37bn for the renovation of NASS building complex? Yes, over N37bn for a single building complex that is not even dilapidated compared to our university facilities. What is more, the NASS building complex houses able-bodied personalities that do not add up to 400 in number compared to the populations of our students in each university. It has been reported that majority of those individuals in NASS have allegedly never sponsored a single bill to improve the lives of Nigerians. Compare this scenario to our Universities that each houses tens of thousands of our students apart from the staff. For example, the lecturers are required to carry out research and publish same of their findings or else they stagnate. Yet, at the NASS where humongous sum is spent, whether one sponsors a bill or not, is nobody's business. How do you justify this economic paradox where much is given but less expected and vice versa?

Therefore, the statement coming from the FG through the Hon Minister, may at best be regarded as propaganda or blackmail against ASUU. Unfortunately, the money is not going into ASUU coffers but for the benefit of the students at large. What ASUU is simply telling FG is to prioritise its spending profiles in order to invest on the training of our youths.

Therefore, before you criticise ASUU, just take a visit to any of the public universities nearest to you and inspect the facilities. Your position against ASUU may likely change.
Edited.

Just in case, ENDSARS damaged some properties in Lagos last month, this month (1 month after) they are proposing N1 trillion for rebuilding . This is for Lagos State alone, FGN is about giving them (if not given already). Yet ASUU is begging FGN for more than 10 years now, yes, more than 10 years for N1.1 trillion for 73 universities, they said they don't have money to spend on Education, so they keep the youths, our students on the streets and home. OK give only N110 billion for the 73 universities so that schools can be reopen, they say no money. Hmmmm Nigeria and value system.

I saw this somewhere

*The Oba's Palace we knew before Akiolu was crowned*

How did we get to this level at Isale Eko, Lagos Island?. Well, let us remember how the palace used to be during the time of Oba Adele and Oba Adeyinka Oyekan(Papa). The palace was usually opened from morning till night like a police station or hospital. People go there freely to play football and Papa will be at the balcony watching games and even reward any player that impressed him. People were even allowed to hold parties on the palace ground. However, when Oba Akiolu came he doubled the fence, turned the football pitch to swimming pool, mounted a big fence and gate, put SARS at the gate to block all the Isale-Eko people from accessing the palace. Only his special guests who are people of affluence, and most of whom are not even Lagosians are allowed into the palace. He became very far from his people. So, I believe it was a pent-up anger that the Isale-Eko people unleashed on the Oba. The Isale-Eko people that I know wouldn't have allowed the palace to be desecrated let alone allow the "Ajejis' to carry out such a dastardly act. The Onisiwo Palace which is directly opposite Oba's Palace was not touched at all. The truth is that many people erroneously believe that that place is no longer a palace, but Akiolu's personal abode. That is the way the Isale-Eko people see it which is very unfortunate.

Onion is costly because there was too much of rain in North this year. The price of meat and tomato paste rose after the increment of pms pump price to 161 naira per liter. Endsars did not cause inflation.

No we will not. We will applaud it. Every supporter and promoter of Buhari in the South must be brought down to thier knees.
