Personally, I stand with the FG in this issue. Consequential adjustment as proposed by the FG is to increase the wages by about 10 - 40% depending on the grades. This is what the FG can afford economically speaking. BUT labour is asking for 67% increase across board. Let us be sincere, it wont work. Why are they not shouting on the private companies to do same. Private companies simply increased the minimum wage without any salary raise or adjustment. |
So so dissappointed. Is this how Nigeria will get better? You sit out there, see the rot, talk talk talk. Now you are called to come and do the right thing, make things better, but you chicken out! You therefore have no grounds to talk anymore seeing you were given the chance to correct things. This is exactly how the youths have been clamoring for change, but all is mere talk. They cant walk the talk. Alas, Seye Onigbinde is a coward. If you meant well, you will start the Job. If things go sour because of inner politics etc, you resign. Then tell the whole world the truth. But now, you didnt even take the first step, how can you now talk accurately of inside dealings? You cant, cos you lost the chance to know the inner workings. Anyway, there are other Nigerians with better capabilities in same area. |
ETHIX:True, you can never tell what will happen....Yes, his doubts and language challenge are what is confusing him. How easy / difficult is it to learn the language ![]() Anyone with experience here? |
Danielomisco:Lol, I am not the one seriously. He said the Scholarship is in partnership with the German govt and it includes wife and kids allowances. |
Please a friend needs your advice as he needs to make a decision as soon as possible. He is an Engineer with a a private company earning about N450K / month. He got a fed govt scholarship to do his PhD in Germany. He is confused on what to do. The PhD will require him to learn the language as quickly as possible to make his learning better. He also has to move with his family as he does not want to stay far from his family. He is more concerned about prospects after the PhD hence his confusion. |
jacobnel:Germany is a bit liberal in staying once you can get a job. He is not keen on lecturing, he says he can do anything "lecturing or private work" as long as it pays the bills |

NO BIG DEAL BRO...Congratulations, everything na double double. Go and resume at the private JOB first. The fed govt job just says your name is on the list, not that you should come and resume. It might still take months before you will called for verifications and resumption. So go ahead to start the PRIVATE job. When it is time, simply give them the two weeks notice and leave. |
My friend is very excited but confused right now. He is a high flyer and intelligent guy. He needs to make a decision between scholarships, admission and jobs. He is a young man with a simple family (a wife & kid). He has a BSc and MSc in the engineering field. He is very open to working in the academia or industry. See the breakdown of choices below. Pls advice him sincerely like a friend/brother. I will also read through and give him my opinion too. 1. Secured a Fed govt scholarship for PhD study in germany (Due 2019). Currently still seeking admission/approval from supervisors. 2. Already received 2 admission offers from Univ in Australia but no scholarship. Currently applying for an Australian govt scholarship. (Due 2019) 3. Received a job offer from a multinational oil servicing company (Salary like 450k). To reply before October 2018 ending. He has a moral constraint in taking the Job offer if he intends to leave in maybe 6 months for his studies. Should he forget about PhD and take the offer to grow and be a top professional or leave the job and focus on his studies. I am sure you see his confusion now. Abeeggiii make una help am oooo. From these demands, ONLY NO 1 is the real demand. they want their money. simple! They are not interedted in education funding! Imagine saying fed govt should pay university staff schhol salaries, nonsense. If the university cant manage the school they should hands off and give it up. |

I would choose a 35 year old with BSc and 10 years industry experience over a 35 year old with PhD and 4 years industry work experience
