^^^ Bros, they are all just wasting our time. ![]() |
Hmmm ![]() Anyone who is sound logically, philosophically and who is honest with it will tell you that nothing, absolutely NOTHING is immoral if you hold to atheism. I will start with a little example. From here https://www.nairaland.com/990487/morality-possible-without-authoritative-source/3#11440394 Enigma:By the way, even the evangelical atheists' Daddy G.O. aka Richard Dawkins has admitted something to the same effect in the past.Kay 17:Oh sorry then; so you admit also that cannibalism can be moral? Then I have no problem with your atheism stance then and the issue of compatibility. ![]() ![]() |
onetrack:Nah, mate! That is entirely wrong both legally and factually. It was not for tax purposes only at all. ![]() ![]() |
truthislight: This made for an interesting reading for me and others but, i dont know for you:And how did Wycliffe who was mentioned in that link translate John 1:1 into English? Did he translate it like you Jehovah's Witnesses do? How did Tyndale translate John 1:1 into English? Did he too translate it like you Jehovah Witnesses do? ![]() |
Pastor AIO: Unfortunately there wasn't much in depth talk about the Patristic witness, yet at 1:34:00 Ehrmann mentions it cursorily and makes the fine point that Patristic witness of these documents vary greatly, and, from the copies of the documents that have come down to us. So there was even at the time a variety of versions of the same texts. This is as early as the 2nd century. So perhaps those that want to use patristic manuscript witness to back up their dance should table them where exactly it does so, then we can continue from there.Go and produce evidence of the "agenda", fraud or whatever that led to the translation of John 1:1 as 'the Word was God'. ![]() After all your extensive research since this thread started we are yet to see any evidence let alone any worthwhile evidence. On this thread I am not interested in your attempts at digression and obfuscation. On an appropriate thread and with worthwhile people, I might be happy to discuss some of those things which at best are side matters here but which in reality are your attempts to hide from your failure on the central matter of John 1:1. ![]() ![]() |
^^^ We can simply use one of the typically ill-thought sayings "of wisdom" (as if ) of one of the apostles (now late) of the evangelical atheists."Whatever can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence." ![]() |
^^^^ I'm afraid, this is an attitude I too have developed about this forum. I no longer see this place primarily as a place to discuss serious Christian matters. Of course some matters can still be discussed but overall this place is no longer worthwhile. |
Surprised no one has posted the below! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2283453/Nigerian-president-spent-1million-aid-money-meant-poverty-stricken-country-star-studded-festival-featuring-Beyonc-Jay-Z.html I'll get me coat. ![]() |
@ God2man If no one else will tell you the following, I will. ![]() Instead of quoting people's posts all over various threads without adding anything, why don't you simply make a post like this example: Bookmarked thread because of examples of biblical names and meanings. This your practice is very very very selfish and even unChristian! ![]() |
Enigma: ^^^ Look at your friend's image with the ballooons. One says 'as you blow the balloon, the galaxies move further apart'. davidylan: Perfect! There is in fact a third gigantic elephant in the room. ![]() If the person blowing the balloon were to take out his mouth from the balloon and let the oxygen out, what happens to both the balloon and its 'galaxies'? ![]() |
As Fela talk am: looku and laughu! ![]() Evangelical atheism (to be more precise) has long been established to be a religion. Some even use the broader "atheism" as with the American Court of Appeal and Supreme Court (among others) who ruled that atheism is a religion. ![]() ![]() |
^^^ Una fit protest till kingdom come, evangelical atheism is now a religion. Even some atheists acknowledge it, including some evangelical atheists themselves. ![]() |
davidylan: rather than ask me to read from another of your white masters... is it too hard to ask that you provide us just some brief excerpts of the empirical evidence you claim exists for your own beliefs?^^^ Look at your friend's image with the ballooons. One says 'as you blow the balloon, the galaxies move further apart'. Meanwhile two gigantic elephants in the room: 1. someone is blowing the balloon; the balloon is not blowing itself and the galaxies are not moving further apart on their own 2. look at the size of the person blowing --- compared to the balloon he is blowing. Those who will get this will get it. ![]() |
^^^ When a person raises the flying spaghetti monster in argument, it becomes obvious pretty fast that the person is not to be taken seriously. ![]() |
davidylan: You mean atheists speak from two sides of the mouth?"You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment" per Francis Urquhart ![]() |
Meanwhile, something I stumbled on: Some Nairaland Atheists are the most Arrogant Cowards ever ![]() That's where the quote for which I was asking for guesses came from. ![]() |
Kay 17: Taking a shade from Enigma's pervasive view, homosexuals are tolerated in Nigeria! Cos, no known and open homosexual has appeared in the public square and was rejected!Unfortunately, your comprehension has still not improved; I suppose it is too much to expect in about 24 hours that you would re-read and understand the point I was making in rather few lines. Pathetic. ![]() on another note, an open question: any guesses on who said Intolerance is not stopped with cowardice but with the truth? ![]() |
Food for thought! Intolerance is not stopped with cowardice but with the truth ![]() |
Kay 17: But the atheists are themselves victims of discrimination, they are good witnesses. To claim Nigeria has a 100% tolerance for atheists on the sole example of Tai Solarin is extremely ridiculous!Obviously you need to work on your comprehension as you simply do not understand the issue at all. What you have written up there is sheer nonsense that bears no relation to what I said. You want to try reading again --- maybe a few times? ![]() MacDaddy01: I have done my best and finally given up.Well, in your case, [you know who] is a rabid dog that only knows how to attack without stopping to think. ![]() |
davidylan: This is disgusting and a lie. Tai Solarin was jailed multiple times for comments against the government and NOT the church. From 1970-1999 (Solarin's active years), virtually all heads of state were muslim... why would they hold him in jail for insulting the church they could care less about? Why then where the likes of Dele Giwa murdered? Where they speaking against the church too? Thanks to davidylan for this and the follow up posts (and also for dealing with the slaves of Harris, Dawkins etc more generally). As for the Solarin matter, David that was a superb and comprehensive 'debunking' --- even discombobulation, sef. Epic! ![]() As things stand the situation remains that technically Nigeria has a 100% positive record of appointing a professing non-coward atheist to political office --- unless we are provided with contrary evidence. So far, the evidence available is that the only professing and non-coward atheist that was qualified and available for political office ----- was appointed to political office without discrimination. So far, no single example has been produced of a professing and non-coward atheist that was qualified and available for political office ----- and who was discriminated against on the basis of atheism and thus prevented from attaining political office. ![]() |
Going back to the main point of this thread, I'd like to point something out for the records ---- especially considering that some were shouting that Tai Solarin is the only example of an atheist that has held political office in Nigeria. Their point of course was another example of poor thinking and closing eyes to both facts and logic. Let me put it in this 'provocative' way: technically, Nigeria has a 100% record when it comes to appointing a known and able atheist to political office. - As far as we know (well, as far as I know), Tai Solarin is in Nigerian history the only atheist courageous enough (i.e. not a coward) to declare himself an atheist, and that was qualified and available at some point for political office. He was indeed appointed to political office --- without discrimination on the basis of the fact (as was very very well known) that he was an atheist. - If anyone knows any atheist who was courageous enough (and not a coward) to declare himself an atheist, qualified and available for political office, and was discriminated against and prevented from the office because he is/was an atheist, I would gratefully accept their correction. ![]() |
ROSSIKE: RIP OKEY ISIMA, NIGERIAN HERO.And to say that one of our best ever defenders conceded an unlucky own goal to deprive us! The Tunisians did well though. ![]() |
Eziachi: John Orlando has an Igbo mother but Ghanaian father along with another guy, Kenneth Boardman who along with Christian Chukwu marshals the Rangers defence in the mid 80s.I think you mean Alfuysalam Rocks, no? |

Ah, I didn't know about the 2 weeks part. To be honest, it is about time I retired (or at least take another extended break as I once did) from the Religion section, if not from the whole Nairaland sef. Just a little more unfinished business . . . . . . . |
Thanks Jesoul The post was just a little attempt at an 'in-joke' with another poster, so I wasn't going to make a fuss. Plus, I reckoned I was going to be banned for about an hour --- again not a big deal. Oh, and flattered about the 'following'. Regards to all. ![]() |
RIP Okey Isima @luvinhubby John Chiedozie came in from the UK not the US; I think and Tunji Banjo too. ![]() |
@ Ghostface Why u no ansa me now? E no good oh! I say what do you think of 'Daytona500'? ![]() |
Hey logicboy Do you like a little gift from even me your "friend"? ![]() And don't go calling me a grammar Nazi for it oh! ![]() Anyway, you should have written "seeing" instead of "seen". Another one somewhere or other on this thread is "haven" when it should have been "having". Have a nice day. ![]() |
@ the watching Ghostface_killah What do you think of your man's 'Daytona 500'? ![]() |
One interesting thing is how evangelical atheists on Nairaland are quick to shout "liar" when someone "debunks" (I actually prefer Uyi's 'discombombulates') their argument(s). ![]() |
^^ I told you before, I'm just a Christian. ![]() |
