Goodness! Thank heavens that you are safe. I hope the police are still working on the case. I wonder why vigilantes and even people will beat up an individual first before settling to listen to what the person has to say. Same thing happened to the victim that escaped from the clutches of Evan's men. undecided

My grouse is, the training is not what candidates had in mind, if they had been mentally prepared, it'd have been better than being ambushed with this intensive training

Jeez! Now I know what my sister is passing through. I had totally forgotten that I was following this thread. I hope she leaves with the September batch coupled with the agitations by the northerners I think efcc should cut short the training and allow everyone leave before the Oct 1 deadline

I swear my heart beats in a funny way when I have to go for monthly shopping. I remember when the woman selling garri told me few months back; it's now 1 cup for N100. How much garri do you then think will feed me and two grown young men for a month, minus rice, beans, oil etc. I remember late last year arguing the price for palm oil in the market that I had bought the month before because I could not believe that the price could change so astronomically within a month.

These past couple of weeks, I had always left the boiling of rice to my brother, imagine my surprise last week when I wanted to cook rice and found there was no rice in the kitchen. The issue was not my brother forgetting to inform me, the issue was that never has my rice finished before the month was over. I felt a momentary despair that I cannot be put into words.

We are all talking of food, I have had to allot more money for household and personal toiletries...12 rolls of tissue used to last us a month, last two months it finished a week before the month was over and I had to increase to 18 for this month. Regular sized toothpaste is now small sized. Prices for washing soaps have increased. Let me not talk about personal body care.

So, Monday is another time for monthly shopping, what pricing surprise am I likely to find this time?

Rivers. That doesn't happen in my place, the only place a corpse is kept is at the mortuary. Not in anyone's home.
Only few villages in my state mandate the groom to spend the night with his 'bride' though. Sickening and yet many are still living together in Lagos without having done any marriage rites. The high bride price is what deters some people though. In my state, you perform a knock on the door, intro, negotiation before the traditional marriage. God help the man if the intended wife is the first daughter with a good education or has been knocked up, more expenses and goats.
FamilyRe: Man To Pay N800,000 To Marry Dead Woman As Wife by Enoquin(f): 12:16pm On Jun 20, 2017
Benita27:
It's same culture in South-South. If a lady you're cohabiting with dies during child birth you'll have to marry her corpse before she's buried.

I think the lady's family was angry at the guy 'cause usually the bride price of a dead person means nothing. Money won't bring her to life so why demand for 5m?, even 800k is too much. In my place they collect less but you'll do the burial rites. The message in it is don't cohabit so you won't be married to a dead woman.
That's true. In one south south state, in some of its villages, you will even spend the night in the same room with the corpse after paying for the marriage rites.

Froth in the mouth? Madam this interaction has been conducted with finger chirping not verbal so I couldn't possibly be frothing in the mouth.

Rein in your leaking emotions except you're having behavioural disinhibition and mental disturbances after being exposed as a shallow debater pretending to be the next intellectual bang in Nigeria.

If you were an impulsive emotionally mono-fixated ranter in your teens, don't encourage teenagers here to lead your thoughtless path...
The one that hasn't been able to rein in his emotions and has been quite insultive is offering me an advice. *Hands him a mirror* What do you see? Thought as much. Done! Lawma, come carry am grin

This one is obviously alien to sarcasm or is just a convenient pretender.

Madam, would you recognise logic if I made an eyeglass out of one for you?

Claiming the girl is naive and only sent that SMS after several neutral pleas means you're the said girl or you have voodoo through which you know what's on her mind independent of the action she took.

Mrs logician, how else do you want to be countered?

Not everyone likes a debate not involving depth of thought.
cheesy See who wants to teach me sarcasm, the one that froths in the mouth. Since your debate involves depth and thought, why then did you indulge my, oh so shallow arguments? (This is sarcasm by the way, point yours out and i'd gladly accept the glasses...oops and another!) grin
grin And it's a Miss except you are using voodoo to dash me a Mrs title

Oh wait! He even wrote that I am the said girl! shocked Then I must be a baller to be arguing online whilst being remanded in prison.

Internet arguments, I can do without especially ones with voodoo masters shocked undecided
CrimeRe: 18-Year-Old Girl Remanded In Prison For Threatening Her Boss Over Unpaid Salary by Enoquin(f): 4:46pm On Jun 19, 2017
Fearlez:
You must have voodoo powers by which you can actually analyse this girl's intentions and motives independent of her actions.

Op says she's done her SS3 so that doesn't make her an ignorant girl as you suggest. Second, I believe sales girl require one or two sureties before they are employed and in a case of salary dispute, her sureties should have stepped in especially as her appointment had been terminated.

*Does your voodoo powers know if she overstayed her short leave? Or I she actually worked a whole month?

* Do you know her background and upbringing? Because I don't see the "average" Nigerian girl sending threat messages about harming her madman's family over 6k salary areas

* I think your voodoo powers should know the madam lives away from the husband and reacted in pure fright.

* She called hubby who's in abj and he too reacted with trepidation as he wasn't physically present to get the police involved.

* SS3 graduate is old and educated enough at 18 not to become so grossly silly.
And here I thought I was quoting someone that would counter my points via a logical discourse, didn't know I quoted someone well grounded in vodooism. My bad.

I'm particularly interested in what landed the lady in court. No one should go around threatening another to demand your presumed lawful right. The madam certainly hasn't acted in good faith, but she should have sought a peaceful solution. The law is sacrosanct here.

Nairaland won't make her suffering go, but we can avoid another person from falling prey by collective educating ourselves on peaceful and lawful resolution of conflict.
Again, how many know enough about peaceful and lawful resolution of conflicts? Nairaland is but a tiny representation of Nigeria, so how many do you think will be reached.

As regards your bolded, true! But you are assuming that the society we live in is perfect and highly enlightened with all having knowledge about and obeying all the laws.
If a girl or boy for that matter, who hasn't been to school like you and I, doesn't listen to the radio nor watch television and the 'internet' as they know It is Facebook, and such a person is being owed by someone whom they had worked for in an economy that has been harsh of recent, only two line of actions are open to the person; leave everything to God or 'fight' back using their limited knowledge.
Don't forget to you, a threat is a crime because of your level of enlightenment but to the girl, a threat might be seen as a way to fight for her entitlement.

Oh my!!! I see the few ones here who wouldn't want to learn, share and grow. Have you ever asked why so many people are ignorant of a lawful manner to dispute resolution? The adults have refused to grow, they would rather exchange banters than learn. It's about time someone starts educating a few more of them with open mind.

Oga no pay me 6k, I threaten to harm not only her but the whole family, let's laugh about that.
State your points clearly, I can't seem to make it out especially as it seems contradictory and I don't want to make any assumptions as regards what you mean. Are you castigating the girl or Adeola?

Kids will rather see who wore it better, read abt Kim kard, Beyoncé, engagé stupid tribal arguments and all scallywags nonsense. The funny thing is that has u can see them here, they remain kids even when the number requires they turn adults and embrace a responsive life.

The girl clear committed a crime, Assault. She is clearly an adult, 18. She clearly hasn't grow a bit or learnt anytin from the society, a complex one as Nigeria. She should have walked into a nearby police station, tend her case and the police would have invited her madam by just calling her on phone.

Sadly she's learning the hard way.
Your summation and that of @fearlez is funny and at the same time not so. If you both think that all Nigerian kids have smart devices with which they can connect to the internet much less know who Kim Kardashian is, then you both might not live in Nigeria and if you do, live only amongst the affluent who have no idea how the rest of Nigeria lives. Just so you know, there are many - adults and teens who do not have any idea about the internet much less how to navigate it.

Also, going to the police station is not something many people want to do; most poor and unenlightened folks see the police in another light.

She is just another average Nigerian teen with no idea on how to go about her ordeal and then resorting to threats after I am sure much pleas or several neutral messages had been sent with no effect. I wish she had been educated instead of being thrown in jail.

Who else noticed the feminist agenda, all the powerful characters (for now) are women - from Daenerys, to Cersei, Yara Greyjoy and
Sansa Stark.

I noticed it at the end of 6 and can't wait to see what the women will achieve. Throw Arya into the mix, she is a leader in her own right
