Our matron at ANC confirmed this same thing when one mama said she had stopped eating plantain since she got preggers cos someone told her abt the 'oka' thingy....

Sô I Google-d soft spot on babies' head and I just discovered it's called Fontanelles and very normal. The posterior one will close early say 6weeks, while the anterior one takes almost a year to 18months.

Yoruba mothers call it "Oka" and they claim eating plantain while pregnant is the main cause, SMH! And to think that i stopped eating plantain

I switched for 2 reasons:
I was traveling and needed to buy 3 packets and that came upto 6,000*3=18,000 (in this buhari economy )
Pronatal was 2100*3=6,300

2. Pronatal is for pre, during and post pregnancy. So im still taking mine after childbirth.

To be honest, i already lost interest in this thread and was gradually making my exit yesterday. But enque and some other mama's comments really got to me.

I have learnt a lot from this thread. I have successfully given birth and have some experience and knowledge about pregnancy, thanks to this thread. It will be selfish, yes, very selfish of me if i turn tail now and abandon the new mamas and not help them out simply because of the 'iranu' happening.

Granted, they are very disheartening but if mamas had run away from this thread when i was preggo, who would have helped me?

Let's put whatever annoys us aside and stick together. To those who have left and those contemplating leaving, please think about how this will affect the innocent ones on this thread.

This thread needs all of us just as we needed the thread back then. We'll all laugh over all these someday just as we always do.

I am tempted to say it's unfair that Mamas are leaving this thread....
Some of us here are newbies and FTM who are clueless about a lot of things, and being here has really helped us in this our preggers journey. But then again, I guess we are humans, and are wired differently as per reaction to issues. For some people, they can overlook and throway face but for others it's not the same.

For the mamas that may have left or are contemplating leaving, Please i hope that you would be kind enough to respond to mentions (questions). If not for anything, pls just do it for the reason that your response may just be a lifesaver.

If her and her DH have decided to tow that route irrespective of the dangers inherent in Cs(even VD sef get pros and cons too) we just have to respect their decision. Rather than painting her husband like a beast or insecure person for saying no body will chook hand inside his wife's jajaina and thus must be Cs, it's THEIR DECISION for Christ sake.

Cs was made to look like a death sentence yesterday and honestly that wasn't good! One or two mamas minds may have been discouraged from ever considering CS by the way it was portrayed by mama helovesme(unintentionally). I had a Cs and got a damn life threatening complications from it but I'm still going to be Belle sliced again whenever I get preggos and it's MY choice.

Jumayin asked us a question which was when is it ok to have Cs? The answer to that question was all she needed and not some lecture, she also wasn't seeking for discouragement.

I try very much this days to avoid confrontations here based on a past experience where some mamas read a totally different meaning to what i wrote and lashed out at me(someone even had to go dig out their dormant moniker to diss me) which was why I didn't react to the posts yesterday as I saw that many mamas here seemed to be in agreement with the horror of Cs so I just chilled and waited for Jumayin to come online and say how she received the many "advice" she got before I go drink panadol for person headache and be jumped on again.

I don't have so much experience but from the little I know, I think u need to talk to ur doctor first. your Dr should be in a good position to determine if ur fit to fly or not.
If it were a local trip I wld have said go, at least ur still within the country...but this is an international trip. So pls talk to ur dr and whatever he says shld b fine.

Pls I have a question ooooo

So I and DH got married in April, and we got a BFP in May.
We never had a honeymoon because we both had to go back to work immediately after our wedding (I lost that job a week later though)

Dh has always been unhappy that we never had the honeymoon that we planned. And now I'll be 20weeks 2mrw and dh has planned a 4day trip to dubai as a make up for the honeymoon that we never had. 

The issue is, I'm still having morning sickness. I still throw up practically everyday and I still get exhausted easily though I have realized that if I eat often through out the day, I always feel a lot better

Truth is, if we don't take this trip now, we probably never will as dh is always super busy at work and i know once the baby comes, we will be too busy taking care of him.

So I wanna ask able mamas here, is it safe for me to take this trip at this stage in my pregnancy?

Sayodaddy baby March has grown, its funny when they are starting to get independent. My DD does the same thing, she's struggling to roll on to her stomach but can roll sideways, so she always cries when she can't face down and its her favourite position.

At my last 2 ANC, we have been doing interactive sessions. Asking questions, discussion 'pregnancy myths' and how true or false they are. There hasn't really been a lecture per se, the nurses have been trying to 'clear our doubts' and I've learnt a lot from it.

So U can go ahead and gate crash to satisfy ur curiosity or better still just wait for ur next class and see if there will be a difference.

I'm a FTM too.

Pls mamas help a FTM, am confused, last ANC was 2 weeks ago, afternoon session, i met wit doc den n he fixed my next appt in 4 weeks time. But dt day nobody taught anything, i was expecting a lecture from midwife or sombori about u knw, preggy stuff as most mamas will say dey taught dem dis n dat, but no one spoke. N wen i asked nurse she sed just come on ur nxt appt. Pls is this normal? cos am tinking of gate crashing d ANC of 2moro morning 2 see if i will catch dem teaching somtin. I have the anterior placenta thingy too but my LOs movements are bit more stronger now (24 weeks today), yesterday dh and I were watching her poke my right side seriously with her kicks. Its a frequent thing now, especially when i eat or drink water.

If i start to talk all the kind of weird dreams i have everyday since i got pregnant, u go laugh tire.. I have even had to stop telling hubby about them cos he is beginning to think its too weird.
