Phones / Twitter API NOT WORKING: US App goes DOWN Worldwide by Entertain9jar(f): 11:34am On Feb 08, 2016

Phones / Iphone Safari CRASH - Still Can't Tap The Address Bar In Your Ios? This Is Apple by Entertain9jar(f): 2:03pm On Feb 04, 2016
APPLE has now resolved an issue that plagued iPhone and iPad users yesterday, and caused the iOS Safari web browser to CRASH whenever a URL or new search was entered in the address bar. If you are still having trouble with the default app, Apple has a fix.

Apple has now resolved the issue, which made Safari on iOS unusable

iPhone and iPad owners were yesterday plagued by a glitch with the Safari web browser's auto-suggest feature, Safari Suggestions.
The bizarre bug caused the hugely-popular iOS web browser to CRASH whenever a user tried to enter a new search or URL into the address bar.
Sources within Apple say the issue only affected iOS and OS X users whose Safari Suggestions data was updated late on the 26th January, Greenwich Mean Time.
Apple has now rolled out a fix for the glitch, but some users could still be experiencing the infuriating bug.
That's most likely because the iPhone or iPad still has the problematic Safari Suggestions data cached.

Tapping the Address Bar instantly crashed the Safari app

Clearing the cache should solve the issues for good. To do that, head to Settings > Safari then tap Clear History and Website Data.

SAMSUNG smartphone owners can expect a slew of new features in the coming weeks, thanks to the roll-out of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. And it looks like a bumper upgrade for Galaxy S6 Edge owners.

Samsung smartphone owners can expect to see Android 6.0 Marshmallow soon

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is Google's best update yet. Unfortunately, Samsung smartphone owners have not had a chance to test it out.
But that could be about to change.
A leaked document from inside Samsung and published by Mobipicker reveals when Galaxy smartphone owners can expect the upgrade.
The Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ are set to get the Android 6.0 upgrade in February or March, with the phablet set to receive the upgrade first.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 5, which failed to materialise in the UK, is also slated for a February release.
Meanwhile, the South Korean firm's 2014 flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S5 – will also get the bump to Android 6.0 in March or April.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll-out across Samsung devices, according to the leaked document

This is around the same time as the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, according to the leaked documents from Mobipicker.
Earlier this week, a video of a Galaxy S6 Edge running Android Marshmallow appeared online.
Amongst the new security and in-app privacy features bundled in the Google update, Samsung has added some exciting new functionality for S6 Edge owners.

Phones / Microsoft Just Spent £174million On This Predictive Keyboard App by Entertain9jar(f): 12:42pm On Feb 04, 2016
MICROSOFT has bought hugely-popular predictive keyboard SwiftKey in a deal worth a reported £174million.

More than 300 million people across the globe use SwiftKey

Ahead of the upcoming launch of its first iPhone keyboard app, Microsoft has brought one of the biggest players in the market.
More than 300 million people across the globe use the third-party keyboard on Android and iOS.
SwiftKey supports more than 100 languages, is incorporated into many apps as the default keyboard, and is pre-installed on many smartphones as the default typing tool.
Microsoft's £174million deal might sound like a lot, although investors have said the price is a little lower than they would have expected even a few year earlier.

SwiftKey was set up in 2008 by Cambridge graduates Jon Reynolds and Dr Ben Medlock.
The company has also worked with Cambridge-based Professor Stephen Hawking, helping the scientist and author to upgrade his communications, applying predictive language software to his system and enabling him to speak faster and continue to give lectures.
Mr Reynolds and Dr Medlock said in a statement: "We're excited to announce an important milestone on SwiftKey's journey. As of today, we have agreed to join the Microsoft family."
Microsoft's executive vice president of technology and research, Harry Shum, said of the deal: "We love SwiftKey's technology and we love the team that Jon and Ben have formed.
"That's why today I'm excited to welcome the company's employees to Microsoft. We believe that together we can achieve orders of magnitude greater scale than either of us could have achieved independently."

Phones / Whatsapp Just Shared Some BIG News by Entertain9jar(f): 12:30pm On Feb 04, 2016
ONE in seven people on the planet now use WhatsApp to keep in touch with their friends, the Facebook-owned company has confirmed.

WhatsApp is now used by one in ever seven people on the planet, Facebook has confirmed

It's official.
WhatsApp – already the world's most popular messaging app – has now topped one billion active users.
Thanks to its phenomenal success, WhatsApp now has to handle a staggering 42 billion messages and 250 million videos sent across the globe, every day of the week.
With that amount of data being shared – it's little surprise the service went down over New Years.
Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19billion, some £11.5 million converted, back in 2014. At the time the service had just 450 million active users.
The US social network, recently accused of draining performance on Android smartphones, also owns the second most successful mobile messaging app – its own Facebook Messenger.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the news on the social network, "One billion people now use WhatsApp.
"WhatsApp's community has more than doubled since joining Facebook. We've added the ability for you to call loved ones far away.
"We've dropped the subscription fee and made WhatsApp completely free.

Phones / Snapchat DOWN: Users Unable To Send Selfies As Popular Photo App NOT WORKING by Entertain9jar(f): 12:18pm On Feb 04, 2016
THE popular messaging app Snapchat has gone down for users around the world.

The popular app Snapchat is down for users across the world

The outage, which began at around 2:30am UK time, is being felt most in the United States and western Europe, according to the website DownDetector.
Twitter user Auryonn Alexis, based in Kansas, ‏wrote: "Neither my friends or myself can snaps to people. It keeps failing."
Another US-based user said: "Why does my Snapchat say I have no internet connection when I clearly do? I've reset the app and turned off my phone?"

A spokeman for the app, which last suffered an outage in late January, has not yet commented on the issues.
Snapchat was launched in late 2011 by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown when they were students in Stanford, California.
The app is used by celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna, with a total of eight million videos shared every day.

Health / What Is The Zika Virus? All You Need To Know About The Outbreak That Has Infecte by Entertain9jar(f): 5:15am On Jan 29, 2016
EL SALVADOR government officials have warned women to avoid getting pregnant for two years because of the Zika virus - but what is it and what threats does it pose?

Public Health officials in El Salvador have urged women to avoid pregnancy until 2018 to prevent birth defects from the Zika virus.
Other scientists are also warning people living in tropical climates about the virus and it’s rapid spread through the Americas.
Worryingly, Texas and Hawaii have recently reported cases. Leading experts from the US National Institute of Health said: "Its current explosive pandemic re-emergence is, therefore, truly remarkable.”

What is the Zika virus?
The virus - a once rare disease confined to the depths of subtropical Africa - was first identified in Uganda in 1947.
It is an “arbovirus” - spread by mosquitoes and belongs to the same family as dengue fever and the chikungunya virus.
Because the virus has been so rare prior to 2015, there has been little research in to the virus, meaning it is difficult to clinically diagnose someone.
It is spread by a certain type of mosquito that transmits the disease when it bites someone infected with Zika, and then goes on to bite another person.

Where have cases been reported?
Previous outbreaks were confined to small regions in Africa, South East Asia and the Pacific Islands.
In May 2015 a case was reported in Brazil and has since been reported in Colombia, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Suriname and Venezuela.
There have since been 1.5 million confirmed infections.

Phones / Lg's Next Smartphone Could Have THIS Killer, Never-before-seen Feature by Entertain9jar(f): 5:02am On Jan 29, 2016
THE LG G5 could launch next month – and is rumoured to have a very interesting twist.

The LG G4 was a brilliant smartphone, thanks to its beautiful 5.5inch display and impressive rear camera. Unfortunately the industrial design was a little bland.
But that could be fixed in the firm's latest flagship handset, the LG G5.
The smartphone is rumoured for launch next month at the Mobile World Congress technology show in Barcelona.
According to serial leaker Evan Blass, the LG G5 will have a removable bottom.

This will allegedly replace the removable case used in the LG G4, and let smartphone owners quickly gain access to the battery.
CNET Korea have produced renders based on what they've heard about the next-generation smartphone.
A retractable bottom will allow LG to move away from plastic for the rear case of its flagship smartphone, a material that left the LG G4 feeling a little cheap.
Indeed, some reports from the LG supply chain point to a new all-metal case.

Computers / Windows 10: Your Private Browsing Is Being STORED In Microsoft Edge, Researcher by Entertain9jar(f): 4:51am On Jan 29, 2016
MICROSOFT'S minimalist new browser might have some serious trouble keeping secrets, according to a new report.

Microsoft Edge is not the most popular web browser.
But the Internet Explorer replacement might have a problem keeping your private browsing sessions private.
According to researcher Ashish Singh, websites visited in the browser's InPrivate mode can still be recovered from the computer's hard-drive.
Examining the WebCache file stored on the users' computer reveals every website they have visited – even those checked while in the privacy-focused InPrivate mode.

Any visited sites are stored in a "Container_n" table – even those you'd rather were kept secret, the Forensic Focus researcher has revealed.
"The functioning and backend of Project Spartan aka Edge Browser is no different from the Internet Explorer latest version," Mr Singh has claimed.
"The forensic examination of most web browsers has proven that they don’t have a provision for storing the details of privately browsed web sessions.
"Private browsing is provided for a purpose, i.e. privately browsing the web, which is being delivered. However, in the case of Microsoft Edge even the private browsing isn’t as private as it seems.
"Any skilled investigator can easily spot the difference and get concrete evidence against a person’s wrongdoings.
"Plenty of artefacts are maintained by the browser, which makes examination quite easy. However, there are stages where evidence is not so easy to find.
"The not-so-private browsing featured by Edge makes its very purpose seem to fail."

Phones / Iphone Safari GLITCH: How To Stop Ios App From CRASHING Every Time You Tap The A by Entertain9jar(f): 2:07pm On Jan 27, 2016
iPHONE users have reported problems with Safari CRASHING on iOS whenever a new URL or search is made in the address bar. Luckily there is a temporary solution.

Tapping the address bar in Safari crashes the app

iPhone and iPad owners have reported an infuriating bug in the Safari web browser.
Launching a new tab in the mobile web browser or trying to type into the address bar CRASHES the hugely-popular browser – sending users back to the iOS Home Screen.
Apple has yet to acknowledge the problem, which appears to affect multiple versions of iOS – and Mac computers, too.
In the meantime, there are a couple of workarounds to get users up-and-running on Safari again.

Tapping the Address Bar will instantly crash the Safari app

Browsing in a Private window temporarily fixes the issue. To do this, launch the Safari iOS app, then tap the Tab icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
Your browser windows will then fan out like a rolodex, and the word Private will appear in the bottom left-hand corner. Tap this to launch Private browsing.
Another option is to disable Safari Suggestions – the websites and search queries the browser pre-emptively guesses as you type into the address bar.
To do this, open Settings > Safari > then toggle Safari Suggestions to Off.

Phones / Mac Safari Glitch: How To Stop Os X Browser Crashing Every Time You Click The A by Entertain9jar(f): 1:54pm On Jan 27, 2016
APPLE MAC users are experiencing problems with the Safari browser CRASHING on OS X whenever a new URL or search is made in the address bar. Luckily there is a temporary solution.

MacBook and Apple Mac desktop owners have reported an infuriating bug with the Safari web browser.
Launching a new tab in the minimalist desktop web browser, or trying to type a search query or URL into the address bar CRASHES the hugely-popular browser – sending users back to the desktop. OS X then automatically generates a Crash Report to send to Apple.
The Cupertino company has yet to acknowledge the problem, which appears to affect multiple versions of OS X – as well as iPhone and iPad users.
In the meantime, there are a couple of workarounds to get users up-and-running on Safari again.
Launching a New Private Window in Safari temporarily fixes the issue. To do this, click File > New Private Window.

Another option is to disable Safari Suggestions – the websites and search queries the browser pre-emptively guesses as you type into the address bar.
To do this, open Safari > Preferences > Search then toggle Safari Suggestions to Off.
Since the glitch appears to affect multiple versions of iOS and OS X, some have suggested the problems may be server-side and linked to Safari Suggestions.
One MacBook user complained on the MacRumours forum: "Experiencing this as well right now.
"Additionally, tab switching doesn't seem to work and new tabs don't even show up in the tab bar. Safari is simply unusable right now."

IF YOU think the number of friends you have on Facebook is an accurate representation of your real-life friendships – you are sorely mistaken, new research has revealed.

People with significantly more than 155 Facebook friends have a fewer dependable friends

Anthropologists from the University of Oxford have found that people only have the capacity to maintain friendships with around 150 people.
This figure was based on a study led evolutionary psychologist Professor Robin Dunbar which analysed the social relationships of more than 3,300 people.
Facebook users consider some 28 per cent of their online friends to be "true friends", the University of Oxford study found.
“This is because friendships ultimately require occasional face-to-face interaction if they are to be maintained over time,” the study argued.

Facebook users consider some 28 per cent of their online friends to be "true friends"

And people would turn to only four per cent of their Facebook friends in the event of an emergency.
Test subjects with significantly more than 155 Facebook friends typically had a smaller circle of dependable friends.
These findings were published in the journal Royal Society Open Science.

Phones / Windows 10: You Probably Won't Be Able To Install Windows 7 On Your Next Laptop by Entertain9jar(f): 8:13pm On Jan 19, 2016
MICROSOFT has confirmed Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will not be supported on Intel’s next CPUs.

Microsoft will not support Windows 7 on the next generation of Intel chips

Intel’s upcoming sixth generation Skylake processors will be the last to support Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, Microsoft has confirmed.
Going forward, Microsoft will only support its latest operating system on the latest silicon from Intel.
Microsoft's Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Terry Myerson confirmed the change in a blog post.
“As new silicon generations are introduced, they will require the latest Windows platform at that time for support,” he confirmed.
“This enables us to focus on deep integration between Windows and the silicon, while maintaining maximum reliability and compatibility with previous generations of platform and silicon.
“For example, Windows 10 will be the only supported Windows platform on Intel’s upcoming Kaby Lake silicon, Qualcomm’s upcoming 8996 silicon, and AMD’s upcoming Bristol Ridge silicon.”

Phones / Netflix Will BLOCK Proxies And Vpns – Restrict UK Customers To Their Own Region by Entertain9jar(f): 12:40am On Jan 18, 2016
NETFLIX is making a stand against proxies, unblockers and VPNs – stopping its subscribers watching films and TV shows exclusive to one geographic location.

UK Netflix customers will no longer be able to unblock and watch content from US Netflix

Netflix subscribers who tune into the hugely popular streaming site using proxies, unblockers or VPNs were this week dealt a huge blow.
The US video on-demand provider is set to clamp down on the use of unblockers which circumvent the regional-restrictions and let subscribers access shows and films from outside their borders.
Films and TV shows on Netflix vary between countries based on the service's distribution deals with film studios and TV networks.
Virtual Private Networks, dubbed VPNs, can be used to make your device appear as if it is residing in another country – and unlock a new range of geo-locked Netflix shows.
But Netflix will now restrict users to the content available in their own country.
