PoliticsRe: Yorubas, Please Lets Not Get Carried Away. by eodavids(m): 10:41am On Jun 07, 2018
resurgent2019:
Since the Federal Government's announcement about June 12 as new democracy day, i have carefully studied the reaction of Nigerians to the news. Expectedly, the igbos are upset and throwing tantrums at the yorubas, which is not new. The igbos HATE yorubas. That is a topic that has been overstretched. But we {Yorubas} need to think with our heads clear: Do we for the reason of our need to continually best the igbos and for this post humous recognition of Abiola's stolen mandate, vote in Buhari for another 4 years? Because from the reactions i have seen from Yorubas so far, we might for reason of Buhari's decision, vote for him — June 12 democracy day change is for all intent and purposes, a greek gift, meant to curry Yoruba votes for 2019.

Not to be misunderstood, i as a yoruba man feel elated and honored by Buhari's gesture {which is long overdue}, but i deem it insufficent to warrant forgiveness for the hell that Buhari has subjected Nigerians for the past 3 years. Nigerians have indeed suffered under Buhari and our right to religious freedom has been severly violated. We must as omoluabi, eschew the temptation to return the hate of our southern neighbours. I must admit that i have felt bad reading igbo comments since yesterday about this honour done yorubas, but at the same time, i cannot forget the wanton killings and economic strangulation that has taken place in Nigeria under Buhari. What is the assurance that southerners wouldnt suffer more in Buhari's 2nd term given our experience in the 1st? There must be deep introspection on whether the actions of this Government aligns with the democratic ideals of MKO Abiola and Chief Gani Fawehinmi. If we think with a clear mind, we would conclude that both Abiola and Gani will be turning in their graves on what Nigeria has become under Buhari. I would not want to go into specifics about what we have suffered, as that would obscure the substance of my message to all omoluabi.

Let me reiterate, we must not descend into the cesspool of hate with the igbos, thus losing sight of our duty as the torch bearers of democratic principles and practices in Nigeria. There is no telling the dire consequences Nigeria will face in the next 4 years under this current regime. By all standards, Abiola and Gani deserve their post humous awards and we shall not repay their due recognition with our votes.

The political space should remain open and our votes accessible to other reasonable candidates in 2019! The orchestrators of this Buhari masterstroke are our brothers and they are well known to all Yorubas. They have done well to immortalise our brothers in death BUT they should not get our votes so EASILY.

YORUBA RONU OOOOOO...

Selah.
Op, you have spoken well. But I take exception to the allegation that Ndigbo hates Yoruba's.

Social media comments cannot and should not be the yardstick for measuring the love/hate status of one tribe to or against the other. To do that is counterproductive.

Howmany characters in social media use their actual identity?
The answer is known to us all.
PoliticsRe: Abiola: Babagana Kingibe Recognized As Former Vice President, Bags GCON by eodavids(m): 10:28am On Jun 07, 2018
TylerDurden:
There are very few highly despicable and hated Nigerian politicians than Baba-Gana Kingibe and that is saying a lot for a Nigerian politician. Now this highly degenerate individual who has crawled back into the corridors of power like a sleuthing snake that he is, is being awarded an accolade that he is no way deserving of. But this after all is a Buhari govt where the owerllian rule applies that is where saints are condemned and criminals like Abacha are celebrated so it did not surprise me that a con man like Kingibe will find a place within the very heart of Buhari's govt.

This is the same Kingibe that never for once fought for the joint mandate of June 12 but rather quickly absorbed himself into the Abacha regime - the same regime that truncated that mandate.

Kingibe will disappear from Nigeria immediately after Abacha's death only to lobby his way into the Yaradua administration as SGF only to be abruptly rightfully sacked by Yaradua himself.

How does this new elevation of Kingibe to GCON benefit him? For one, he can go around parading himself as a former VP and also find his way to attend all future NEC meetings. But by far the best thing to accrue to Kingibe is that he gets to live out the rest of his degenerate hedonistic life at the expense of tax payers as he will now be entitled to annual pensions and perks that a retired VP enjoys.
Please, Op, what benefit prestigious and, or economical will the award of GCFR and GCON do to Abiola and Gani respectively now that they are long dead and to the Yoruba Nation in general?

No @Front4.
Lagos truly deserve special status as the foremost Nigerian commercial hub as well as west Africa.

This present administration should kindly grant Lagos this status and Nigeria will be better.

Do not be anti western Nigeria pls.

I had no intention to vote come 2019 but based on this I will vote for Buhari come 2019. Why? No country moves forward without given recognition to significant moments in it's history, especially people who died in the struggle. Buhari whether or not for political gain has corrected an anomally that will stand long after all of us are dead, whether or not his administration has been competent, this is a truly significant moment. Plus anything I can do to consign the evil that isOBJ to extinction I will do.

who cares about lagos, let lagos fix itself and the theivery and god fatherism first before looking for special status
Sorry!

I put it to you that you are not a southwesterner. If you were, you will refuse to be bribed with crumbs when you deserve real meals.

Largos' special status has enompus economic gain for the southwest. Juxtaposed with this award which benefits only Kingibe - the west loses out completely.

Now look at the fact:
Buhari will not grant special status to Lagos because that makes Lagos go far-far ahead of Kano, the commercial hub of the northern which the northerners wished can overtake Lagos.

So Buhari will hadly grant special status to lagos because of the enormous benefit but has swiftly granted a posthumous award to dead Abiola and dead Gani who will remain oblivious of the cosmetics award.
Kingibe on the other hand will be celebrating right now with his well wishers.

In a nutshell: it still victory for the north and zero to the south.

Lagos state is major commercial Hub of not only Nigeria but west Africa. The clamour for special status for Lagos has been on for a long time. Let's call on the present administration to do the needful and declare SPECIAL STATUS on Lagos through the executive bill while the NASS expedite action in passing the bill with speed of light.

I hereby call on all well meaning sons and daughters of southwestern Nigeria to unite in calling on this Buhari/Osibanjo-led Federal government to do this and obtain the support of the southwest.

Buhari did not give the award because he has any love for gani or MKO. you read between the lines and read again what I wrote, the is a battle for the SW as well as a battle to to take on OBJ and IBB. This has Jagaban written all over it.

Who cares about Kinigbe, he is an irrelevance.
I agree with you on the battle for Southwest. But will the southwesterners be deceived now to take this move as a reasonable incentive from buharis Government to give him the unflinching support??

No no!.

What the southwesterners must get, which they truly deserve is THE GRANTING OF SPECIAL STATUS TO LAGOS AS THE REAL COSMOPOLITAN CITY IN NIGERIA.

Anything short of this is not of any benefit the southwest and they should not be deceived with little award that stands the risk of being revoked in near future.

Read between the lines. Abiola and Gani no longer has anything to gain is this awards. But Kingibe has a lot to gain. The award giver did it because he knows who the true beneficiary is.

The only award that is designated as able to be given post humously is the Nigeria Star

(Reference - National Honours Act).

This does not mean the president could not have introduced an executive bill to amend the act prior.

Year after year, Forbes features some of the brightest young leaders, entrepreneurs and billionaires under the 30 Under 30 list across various continents.

This year, over 90 people made the Forbes Africa 2018 list spanning across Business, Technology and Creatives.

As such, 13 Nigerians made the list including Wizkid, his ex-girlfriend Tania, Davido, Bidemi Zakariyau, Beverly Naya and Adebayo Oke-Lawal.

She has now taken to Instagram to make an emotional post in celebration. Read below...

"I made Forbes guys Small Girl with a very big God! I still can’t believe it. For years I would talk about how I wanted to be on Forbes before I was 30, at the beginning of this year especially when I set my goals for the year, being on Forbes was one of them. And less than 6 months later, Boom Tania is on the 30 under 30 list. To think Ziva is only a year and 5 months old is actually insane. I’ve worked sooooo hard building my business and to be recognized by Forbes is such a blessing. I quit my 9-5 job with confidence 2 months after I started Ziva because I knew I had Ziva to fall back on but never in a million years did I think we would have come this far by now. I started Ziva with a pop up, after which I continued to sell the clothes from my house. I would pack all he clothes in my boot just in case anyone ordered anything so I could deliver it from wherever i was. I literally did everything myself for the first few months, I didn’t hire any staff until about 5 months into the business. I remember when I wanted to start so many people discouraged me, they said things like : “So many people are into fashion”, “You studied advertising at university what do you know about fashion” , “This is a bad idea, you cannot be Africa’s Zara or H&M” amongst so many other things. But God sent me an angel in my friend Kiki who held my hand and taught me everything I needed to know to start a business in fashion and a year and a half later here we are. I can confidently say I am living my dreams and my best life! I love being Iya Ziva it’s one of my biggest blessings and Definitely my biggest accomplishment so far. Thank you to everyone that has supported my business and I. I will forever be grateful
P.S please do not ever give up on your dreams!!!! Do not ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something!

Police recruitment: PSC speaks on candidates ‘writing exam in Arabic

Published on May 30, 2018 By Seun Opejobi

The Police Service Commission, PSC, has reacted to rumour that candidates participating in ongoing recruitment into the force wrote examination in Arabic.

Outgoing PSC Chairman, Mike Okiro insisted that the assessment was only based on aptitude and language test under the heading, “English Language test for 45 minutes”.

He explained, in a statement, that JAMB customized platform contained skeletons of other 22 subjects offered by the board.

The statement, which was signed by Okiro, read, “The instructions were that candidates should answer the questions in that section alone.

“On completion of the 45 minutes test, any candidates who rolled down would come across subjects listed in alphabetical order of the 23 subjects with the first 3 being Agriculture, Arabic and Arts.”

He dismissed as false the claim that “180 questions (instead of 60) were to be answered in English, Agriculture, Arabic and Arts in 45 minutes!!!

“The only Nexus among the three is letter ‘A’. The Nigeria Police Force does not require Agriculture, Arabic or Arts.

“No candidate was ever required to answer questions or assessed on any of the three subjects as shown by the results already released,” the PSC boss asserted.

Pls, Mr okiro or PSC try again, but more intelligently. Do not adumbrate the matter further.
